Rug Doctor Professional Carpet Cleaner Package
What a great deal! I love my Rug Doctor machine and family members do too. I have already went through two sets of brushes on my machine and it is still going strong. With as much usage as our machine does the cleaning package was perfect. If I would have bought the individual Rug Doctor cleaners I would have had to pay over 500.00! You simply cannot beat this deal!
Very fast delivery and plenty of product to clean carpets for awhile. Thanks!, and have a Happy New Year!
Sincerely,
David R. Ader

Host Dry Carpet Cleaner Shaker Pack (C12103) Review

I've used HOST for over 20 years, both professionally applied by a carpet cleaner and in this do-it-yourself version. It's been great for my carpets and the benefit is it that it doesn't leave your carpets wet.
Recently I bought an expensive sisal rug. Sisal cannot be cleaned with any water as it will shrink and distort the shape as well as discolor. I've got two big dogs and HOST has been a miracle worker on this sisal rug. From dog urine to dog vomit this stuff has cleaned it all with no trace of what had happened left behind and no damage to the sisal. I will always have a tub of HOST around for accidents!

Recently used this kit rather than our steam cleaner, which does a great job, due to time constraints. Was very pleased. It took me about an hour to do our large living room and stairs, compared to three hours plus drying time for the steam cleaner. The results were almost (80-90%) as good. Want to add that you need a good vacuum. I tried this product some years ago and had poor results because my old vacuum just couldn't remove all of the powder.

Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner Review

Hoover F5810 SteamVac Carpet Cleaner

I was impressed with the way it doesn't oversaturate the carpet (unless you just keep going over the area and pressing the squirt trigger a lot.) The suction is very good and the machine is easy to operate. The water is only as hot as you get out of your faucet however, but this was not a concern for me.
I almost bought a Bissell, similar price, but discovered the Bissell had an odd retriever container--it actually sits inside the clean water container, so this doesn't give much room for the dirty water. I didn't actually try out the Bissell, so I can't really criticize it.
I used the Hoover for a very dirty utility room carpet and the only thing I will do different next time is use a Hoover stain remover for some of the ground in dirt stains.
All in all, I found this machine to be MUCH better than ones I had rented from a local hardware store in past years (for a different house). The rental machines are extremely heavy, hard to get in and out of my car and leave the carpets soaking wet. This Hoover machine isjust what I hoped for.
One thing to be aware of, after you take the machine out of the package, check to see if the cap on the clean water container is already loosened. I was following directions to a "tee" and trying like everything to turn the knob to the left to unscrew it and then discovered it was already loose and ready to be lifted out.
I ordered this machine from Amazon also another item previously, and was very happy with Amazon's fast delivery time on both items.

Ladybug XL Vapor Steam Cleaner Commercial Grade - Standard Package Review

Ladybug XL Vapor Steam Cleaner Commercial Grade - Standard Package

I have been using this steamer for over a month now and am still impressed. The volume and heat of the steam is outstanding. The continuous refill ability allows this unit to be used for several hours without being shut down for refills. I have cleaned stoves, tile, glass, floors, bathroom fixtures and even utensil and this steamer cuts through the grunge without the use of chemicals with the exception of bathrooms. A bit of lime away is still helpful to get any deposits loosened before steam cleaning.
I am also very satisfied with the build and operation of the unit. The attachments are all well made and fit solidly with no leakage of steam around the joints. The attachments are well insulated and even after long periods of use remain cool enough to handle without the use of gloves. All the parts lock together with a very solid snap and do not come apart in normal use.
All in all I can highly recommend this steamer. A solids all around package.

Anti Icky Poo Odor Remover (1) Quart with Sprayer Review

Anti Icky Poo Odor Remover (1) Quart with Sprayer

I really didn't want this to work so I could get brand new carpet under the manufacturers warranty. The first time I used it I didn't think it worked...I got it off ebay and the sprayer was a joke so I had to get a new bottle. I thought this left grease looking stains on the carpet and I called the Co. Mister Max and they said that's never happen in all the years they've been making this. So, I got a really good spray bottle and mixed it with a little water. Sprayed it on all the spots and in the morning I had my husband walk in the room (which he is normally bowled over with the cat pee smell and fusses about it) and I asked "well, does it smell?" and he said wow no it doesn't, laid on the floor and said " what did you do?!?!"
I spent so much on feliway diffusers and I think that's a waste of money for my cats and I will have to keep up with the comfort zone spray (that's the only thing that works) and the anti icky poo because it totally takes away the smell! Use a black light when you're doing the treatment.

Bissell 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet Cleaner Review

Bissell 14005 Little Green Compact Carpet Cleaner

(More customer reviews)
Bissell 14005 Little Green verses Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr.
I've used both of these mini shampooers and was not entirely satisfied with either, but I preferred the Bissell's Little Green over Hoover's Steamvac Jr. and here's why:
I first had the Little Green for about five years. It was a great little vac with only minor problems. The fill and empty containers are removable from the unit for convenient filling and emptying. There is a cord winder built onto the unit, the hose wraps conveniently around the unit and locks into place, and the shape and size are convenient for most applications including stairs and storage.
The problems I had with the Little Green:
- It would occasionally leak a bit. The water seemed to be coming from where the hose connects to the base. It was a small drip leak that was easily solved by emptying the clean water tank after each use. We used ours so frequently that I sometimes left clean water in the tank during storage to avoid wasting cleaning solution.
- My biggest problem with the Little Green was the inability to completely clean the dirty water tank. I had four cats when I first bought the Little Green and eventually had four kids. The Little Green made it through a number of illnesses with us above and beyond pet accidents. The dirty water tank became filthy and unsanitary and was not designed to be dismantled for thorough cleaning. Eventually, the smell became too great and I had to dispose of the tank. I decided it was time to try a new spot shampooer - one that had a cleanable tank.
That's when I decided to try the Hoover Steamvac Jr. Both the Little Green and the Hoover spray and suck reasonably well for a small machine. As far as actual cleaning quality, the two are comparable. However, I found the Hoover to be bulky and a pain and its only redeeming quality, in my opinion, was that I am able to thoroughly clean the dirty water tank.
The problems I had with the Hoover F5411 Steamvac Jr.:
- The tanks are the base of the unit and are not removable. In order to fill the clean water tank, you have to either maneuver the entire unit under the faucet and aim at a one inch hole in the portion of the unit that houses the motor, or you have to dismantle the machine and still maneuver the largest part of it under your faucet or use a bucket.
- The tanks are a single bucket-style unit separated by a divider. They are not individual parts. When you dump the dirty water, if you have the unit fully assembled, the clean water will slosh around. If you dismantle the machine to empty it, you will also be emptying the clean water tank.
- The top portion that houses the motor also has a filter that sits down in the dirty water tank, so if you dismantle the machine to fill or empty it, you are forced to place the motor housing with hose and cord in a tub or sink or get your floor dirty and wet.
- The machine is round. It doesn't fit well on stairs nor is it a convenient shape to store.
- There is no cord storage on this unit and no convenient way to store the cord or keep it out of your way when you are filling, emptying, or storing. You can wrap it around the base of the handle, but it usually does not stay in place if you empty the tank and tends to get in the way of using the handle to carry the machine.
- The Steamvac Jr. does have a spot to store the hose, but I find it an inconvenient and cumbersome position.
I'm currently saving my pennies to buy another Little Green. The little Hoover just makes me more angry than satisfied and I've taken to simply letting stains set in instead of hassle with the obnoxious machine.
I would recommend avoiding the Proheat Little Green. It seems the parts are not designed to work well with the heat and tend to break down. Hot tap water in the standard Little Green works well and this is coming from a germaphobe whose hands are raw from overwashing. If it's clean enough for me, it's probably more than clean enough for you. If you're looking for a spot shampooer, the Little Green is your best bet.

Bissell Quicksteamer Powerbrush Lightweight Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 2080 Review

Bissell Quicksteamer Powerbrush Lightweight Upright Deep Carpet Cleaner, 2080
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this Lightweight Carpet Cleaner with the hope of cleaning room by room of my home over time so that I wouldn't have to pay Professional Carpet Cleaners to come in once a year to clean my carpets. We recently added an "indoor" puppy to our family too, so our carpets were really taking a beating. Both my husband and I are thoroughly impressed with the Bissell 2080. We knew buying a Bissell was a good decision, but we were a little skeptical that we might should have bought a more heavy duty cleaner, but every penny counts in our household. Using the 2080 to clean a room at a time per weekend is working GREAT! We did find that the sprayer didn't meet our needs (puppy spots) - but we took the Bissell cleaning fluid, put it in a spray bottle, then sprayed everything! By the time we were finished spraying, we were ready to use the Powerbrush to run over the stains, scrub the solution and vacuum it up! The carpet looks like new -- which is an accomplishment because we're a family of 5 and that doesn't include our 2 mature dogs and our puppy! I would definitely recommend this cleaner to anyone that needs to watch their budget but also wants a really good cleaning job!
Oh, one last thing, I read this in reviews before I purchased the 2080 and it is SO true -- when you are vacuuming the cleaner out of the rug, GO SLOW!! If you go slow, you'll vacuum up the maximum amount of liquid and your carpet will dry super quick! Good luck!

Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce Review

Hoover 40321130 Premium Pet Formula Carpet/Upholstery Detergent, 128-Ounce
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this shampoo about a year ago, and was kind of unsure whether to get this or the Hoover Deep Cleansing Shampoo. I was not sure which would be better for my carpets, as they had a combination of pet problems and the normal problems. So, I got both.
One difference is the fragrance. The Deep Cleansing smells very good, whereas this one is exceptional. Hoover seems to pay special attention to this detail, as these products both smell great. In terms of cleaning, though, it is very difficult to tell the difference. I know this is supposed to be good on pet stains, but it was not any better than the Deep Cleansing in my experience. If it was, it was very slight; I could not discern any difference and I did test them. Also, I could not see any difference on normal areas like stairs.
I wish I could say to use one for pet stains and the other for normal rooms, but the difference is minimal if at all. I just buy the this one because as pleasant as the Deep Cleansing scent is, this fragrance is out of this world it is so pleasant. Both detergents are very pleasant to work with as they have no residue problem (mentioned in more detail in the next paragraph), are not harsh on skin, do not brown the carpet, and of course leave a very pleasing scent. There is not much bad to be said about this product.
One thing that the shampoo says, is that it is OK to leave some residue on the carpet as it helps resist resoiling. I find this to be untrue, as detergent residue tends to attract dirt pretty aggressively and going over the carpet one time with just water after doing it with shampoo seems to leave the carpet cleaner for a long time. Professional carpet cleaners will all tell you to remove any detergent residue, except for encapsulating detergents (which this is not), and some will not even use shampoo for this exact reason. They use a pre-spray and then use hot water. Which brings up another appealing characteristic - this detergent is quite easy to get out. I would also like to mention that with this or any other cleaning solution, or just water, the temperature of the water is very important. The hotter, the better. This can often make quite a difference in the cleaning ability of the solution, so whenever possible use very hot water.

Bissell ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, 94003 Review

Bissell ProHeat 2X Select Pet Upright Deep Cleaner, 94003
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Hi.
We bought this model at a local retail store last weekend. I had used a different model of the same brand previously (borrowed from in-laws). I have used it once, on my entire living room--a cream colored cheap wall-to-wall carpet laid down about 3 years ago by the previous owners. Probably artificial fibers. Just saying.
The carpet was getting spotty. We have a cat who has hairballs regularly and two four-year-olds. The cream colored carpet was showing spots around the kids computer, both couches, and the high-traffic areas at each doorway. We had some washable-marker marks here and there, and one sticky place. We live in the south so we had red clay marks, too.
I assembled the machine--had to get a long, thin screwdriver from the garage because the kind with the changeable tips is too fat for the holes in the upper handle. Assembly was easy, but I was left with an extra wand that had no home. Ours came with a small, medium, and large unpowered wand plus a powered wand and a crevice tool. At this point I was thinking that all the unpowered wands were kind of redundant.
I filled the machine with hot water and the 'fiber cleansing' solution my husband picked up because he didn't realize there were two bottles of solution inside the box. Not a big deal, we'll use it all, I'm sure. The soap tank was a bit leaky for just a second, so I let it drip til it stopped, then rinsed off the outside.
I grabbed the blue squirt bottle of 'tough stain precleaner' that came in the box and squirted each little gray, brown, or sticky spot. Didn't do anything else, just squirted. Gave the gray area near the doors a sort of 'misting' to get the job started.
I turned the dial on the Bissell to 'normal cleaning' and started near one door. Wet stroke forward, wet stroke backward, dry stroke forward, dry stroke backward. Had a little trouble with the suction at first, but I later determined this was probably because the machine had tipped while it was on. It makes a pop noise when it loses suction, and you pretty much have to shut the machine off and turn it back on to 'reset'. A few places in the carpet needed an extra going over with the wet/dry strokes to get the spots up.
After just a couple of strokes, the machine started spitting out little 'hairballs' that were gray--presumably cat hair and carpet fiber wads. I had read about these in the manual and so was not alarmed. I decided to let them go and after the carpet dried I'd get them with the dry vac.
About half-way through the room (13x18, roughly) it was time to dump the dirty water and refill. The water was like diluted hot chocolate in color, and had hairballs in it. Removing and replacing the tank is quite easy. Originally I was thinking I had to lay down the handle to get at the connections, but this is not true--the machine can be standing up and you can still get the water tank out. Not sure about the soap tank, though.
Note that while cleaning, you're dripping on the back stroke. So you start at one end of the room and work *backwards* to the other end, not forwards. Probably a no-brainer, but there you go. I tried using one of the unpowered wands for a spot under the kids desk, and it did OK but didn't really wow me. It was nice to have the trigger right there on the wand to be able to squirt soap at the spot, and the wand did fine at pulling the water back out. Didn't try the powered wand for it--I just went over it again with the big machine and the spot was completely gone. I'll try the powered wand another time.
Back in action, I finished up the room with no other highlights. I chose not to use the 'rinse' cycle on the machine at all, I guess I'm testing the anti-resoiling agent in the soap. :) I didn't really want to spend the time going over every inch of carpet twice.
When finished, I put down a couple of clean towels to walk on since we can't avoid using the room. The carpet itself was dried within a couple of hours--even the bit at the start where I was having trouble with suction.
Once dry, I have to say the carpet looks great. There might be one or two places where the spots wouldn't come out--but they have been cleaned at least 3 times now with three different machines and have persisted through all of them. Anyway, I do notice that the carpet nap is starting to look a little worn--it's cheap carpet. I haven't been back over it yet with the dry vac to get the hairballs up, that might change the appearance.
Husband said the smell of the soap was pretty much gone once the carpet dried, so it didn't leave a heavy stink of 'just washed the carpets' behind. The soap smell was itself reasonably pleasant and not overpowering even when wet.
So on to disassembly and cleaning. Emptying the dirty water was again no big deal. I rinsed out the tank afterward to get the hairballs out and keep it from getting stinky (why leave microban a big job, after all). I left the remaining soap in the soap tank for the next time. Since the shields over the nozzles and brushes are clear, you can see how scummy they get after just one use, so I grabbed my screwdriver again and popped off the clear shields (one screw for the front 'suck' piece, and two screws each for the side 'edge cleaner' areas) to rinse them out. The brushes themselves were exposed at that point and I could see the surfaces behind them were scummy but I didn't feel like removing the brushes so I just wiped with a rag to get the scum out of the places I could reach. At this point the vac is lying on its back in the kitchen, in the way. But one more wipe of the sole plate (where the dirty drips come from) and reapplying screws and shields and it all went back together easily. It took about another five mins or so to clean the machine after use. Then I grabbed a clean rag and the reassembled machine and moved it to its storage home. Since it's sitting on the carpet, I put the clean rag down first, then the machine on the rag to catch any drips I might have missed.
I am very pleased with how the machine performed. It made a dirty carpet look clean again, which is exactly what I wanted. It was relatively easy to use and clean (might tape a screwdriver to the machine just to have one handy) and it did a great job.
If I were going to improve the machine, I'd make those clear shields use a fastener other than a screw so they could pop off by hand. I'd maybe add one more fastener for that spare wand. I might include a plastic tray to sit the thing on when it's not in use. I might try to work on that suction pop noise thing to make it clearer that you need to stop and fix something before you squirt more soap down. I might also leave off all the marvelous stickers identifying special features. Not needed, and they get in the way of seeing what the machine is doing. And if I were really working hard to improve, I'd have a 'self propelled' motor to assist the user to move the machine at the proper speed (slow) and with the proper contact between machine and floor (to improve suction).
I hope the machine will last for the amount of time we intend to keep this carpet. Other reviews make me wonder if my satisfaction will last, since it seems other people have a lot of trouble with their machines, regardless of brand and model. I hope to update this review again later, after a few more uses.
-----edited Nov 30 2009
After using the machine several more times, I am still pleased. It's kept the carpet looking pretty good, and sometimes I'm able to get up spots using only the warm water without soap. That's nice. I haven't used up all the carpet soap that came with the machine (and that we bought by mistake). The cat was quite ill over the summer and kept throwing up all over the carpet, everywhere..and you really can't tell at all. Likewise the kids have repeatedly gone after the carpet with washable markers and crayons, and those marks are gone as well. Red clay marks gone. There are some shadowy gray areas at the main entrance/exit to the room that the shampooer doesn't seem to be able to help, I guess the carpet is just showing its age.
I have taped a gallon zip bag to the front of the machine, in which I have the manual and the screwdriver I mentioned earlier. Very handy. I've used the powered wand a few times now, and I like that much better than the unpowered ones. Agitation really helps get the gunk out.
I like using this machine better than my Spotlifter now, it does a better job. I do tend to 'save up' spots so I can run the machine for long enough to make it feel 'worthwhile', but it even gets up the old spots.
Anyway, I'm pleased with the machine, it does what I wanted it to do. After months, it doesn't stink (I still rinse it out after each use), and it hasn't made anything scummy while it sits waiting for the next use.

I bought a Bissel and use this Professional Deep Cleaning Formula to deliver better results than a professional cleaning service. My wife used to pay hundreds of dollars to have our carpets cleaned. With this formula and my Bissel Vaccum cleaner, I have consistently achieved better results at a fraction of the price. I highly recommend it!

I had the older version of this machine. I bought it about 6 years ago and after attempting to clean the rugs last month I realized it was no longer picking up the water. Opened it up and saw that the internal suction hose had split in half. That was it .. time to find another cleaner. I have had good luck with Hoovers but did a TON of research before settling on this machine. I have a dog and a toddler and both do a number on my rugs. Juice, food, crayons, spit up, urine and everything else under the sun has ended up on my carpet in the past 2 years. I did not take care of my previous Hoover so it wasn't the best in its later life. I just brought the new one home and oh my god, the water was black. I did not think anything could bring my carpets back but this did. They are so soft and clean. I love this machine because it has a rinse button if you want to make sure you have gotten all the soap out. I use really warm water and the machine directs hot air onto the carpet as you make your passes. The carpet dried super fast and just looks fantastic. I had to fill and empty the containers 4 times for my combination living / dining room but hey, I'm not complaining now that I see the results. I also like this machine because you do not mix the detergent in with the water. This is great because if you have detergent left over you just pour it back into the bottle. Based on my previous experience, here is what I learned and can pass on to future Hoover SteamVac owners:
1. Clean your machine after each use. That means taking apart the brushes and washing out the front nozzle. This is an investment and if you want it to continue working like it did the first day, you need to take care of it.
2. Do not leave left over or dirty water in the tank when you put it away. This will wear away at the joints and increases the chances the leaks.
3. Do not leave left over detergent in the tank .. see #2.
4. Read the directions when you put it together and make sure you read how to use this rather than just take it out and turn it on. I never read the first manual and didn't realize I should have been cleaning and using the spray button a totally different way.
This is a great machine and I hope it will last just as if not longer now that I know how to take care of and use it properly.

Ten months ago we bought $7000 of new light-colored carpeting. Two months ago we got two new puppies and one new shelter dog (none of which were housebroken), in addition to our other three dogs (one of which is a senior citizen and becoming incontinent). We live in an area with coyotes and mountain lions and we cannot leave our dogs out at night.
Needless to say, our new carpet took a huge, devastating hit while we all adjusted to our new life together. On top of all that, we live in a rural mountain community and the amount of dust and dirt and mud that blows in and/or gets tracked in is astounding, no matter how careful we try to be. I thought a few rooms of carpeting might not be salvageable.
So my Mom's Day gift to myself was the Hoover F7412-900 SteamVac Dual V Widepath Carpet Cleaner with the Hoover Pet Formula Detergent. O.M.G. My carpet looks and smells absolutely brand new. Stains and odors that I thought might be in the carpet permanently all came out. I'm really shocked. I didn't expect such a great result.
I love the light clean smell of the Pet Formula... it's not overpowering by any means (and I used a lot). The Hoover SteamVac and the Hoover Pet Formula detergent saved our carpet.
As far as the SteamVac itself, I find it super easy to refill the clean water tank and empty the dirty water tank. It's a heavy machine, so I'm glad they didn't make the tanks any larger, as it would have been way too heavy for me to handle. The way it is now, it's perfect... I plan to use it frequently for carpet maintenance.
I know I sound like a cheesy infomercial for Hoover now, but I can't help it. My husband and I are beyond thrilled!
*Several months later... I just posted before/after photos of our dining room (one of the main thoroughfares in our house). I'm a bit ashamed -- it's like announcing to the public what size underwear I buy or publishing pictures of myself without makeup first thing in the morning. I mean, my carpet was THAT bad... but hey, we're all friends, right? I want you to see the nasty carpet I had and how beautifully restored it was after using the Hoover. Just remember this: push the Hoover slowly back and forth across your carpet. Don't rush a good thing. You'll get fabulous results that way.

Bissell Big Green Deep Cleaning Machine Professional Grade Carpet Cleaner, 86T3 Review

Considering this Big Green is supposed to be a professional grade carpet cleaner, I expected it to be better than my trusty old Hoover SteamVac Carpet Cleaner with Clean Surge, F5914-900. The question really is whether or not the Big Green cleans so much better that it's worth the price.
I tested it on an old carpet remnant we've had sitting out in the garage for more than ten years. It has never been vacuumed nor steam cleaned until today. On the left of the screen is my new Big Green. The center is preserved for the "before" comparison. The right is my SteamVac. As you can see, there is an obvious difference in cleaning capabilities. I actually gave my SteamVac an extra whirl because it looked so dirty, but it still looks dirty compared to the Big Green side.
It's hard to tell from the video, but the dark color you see from the SteamVac side is not wetness. The darkness is actually a more muddied appearance, as if the SteamVac had added water to dirt.
I've owned quite a few carpet cleaners and I can say, this Big Green really is the best. Not just because it cleans carpets better. There are many other advantages:
1) The power cord is extra long. I can reach all up and down my long hallway in one stretch. My SteamVac requires me to plug and unplug.
2) The solution tank is extra large. It requires two capfuls of solution, but that will last a long time before needing to be refilled.
3) The collection tank is likewise huge.
4) The hose is long, with a wide head and good suction. It reaches almost up to the first landing of the stairway in my house.
5) Quick drying time.
Of course, there are a few drawbacks:
1) Even with the large solution and collection tanks empty, this thing is *heavy*. It requires me to push and pull with both hands -- a real workout. If you have a bad back, this may not be for you. Also, I'm not keen on carrying this upstairs.
2) There is no convenient storage for the hose.
SUMMARY AND OTHER THOUGHTS
I like my SteamVac. Until now, it was my favorite carpet cleaner, but it's no match for the Big Green.
I love Big Green. It's the best carpet cleaner I've ever had. My husband even noticed the cleaner carpets, and he's not one who'd normally care. If you really want clean carpets, buy this one.
P.S. If you're like me and just take the things out without checking all, there is a bottle of solution and some cardboard inside the collection tank. I cleaned my entire hallway and didn't know until I went to empty the tank. D'oh! No harm done, though.
