We just received and have used our Oster 2803 a few times. Handy grip, nice weight, simple operation are its features. It is suitable for everyday use and cleans up easily. Glad it isn't like the old heavy monster electric knives of a few years ago. Only one deficiency keeps it from a five-star rating: The bottom of the motor housing is rounded, so when placed on the counter during use the whole unit swivels around and rolls sideways. The motor housing needs to be flatted on its bottom so the unit would remain stable and upright when put down. Overall, however, a good unit at a reasonable price. The bonus fork is a nice extra!

Black & Decker EK700 9-Inch Electric Carving Knife, White Review

Perhaps the first reviewer had a defective knife because I can only give this inexpensive little knife the very highest recommendation. Initially, I had purchased a very (in my opinion) expensive electric knife ($65) which lasted all of, what? Two months? Yup, two months. Since I couldn't really afford to drop that kind of cash so soon again on an electric knife I got the Black & Decker EK700, not expecting it to last for very long because on average I bake at least a dozen loaves of bread a week, half of which are heavy wheat or rye breads.
As of today, February 28, 2008, I'm editing this review to make this comment: I used this knife for about a year before I posted my original review and it is STILL WORKING! Honestly, how can you beat that? I am really amazed at how sturdy it is. With the use I put it through I would have expected it to last no more than six months. But after all this time, with steady, hard use, it's running almost as well as the day I bought it. Great knife, unbelievably sturdy, easy to clean -- frankly, I can't think of anything bad to say about it. Highly recommended.

Ideal for holiday entertaining, everyday dinners, barbecues, and more, this sleek electric carving knife offers simplicity and ease of use unmatched by traditional manual knives. The unit features a 7-inch serrated stainless-steel blade that effortlessly portions everything from turkey and roast beef to ham, venison, and other meats to desired thickness--from thin deli slices to mouthwatering, juicy cuts. Alternately, use the industrious knife to slice quickly through hard cheeses, create uniform slices of freshly baked bread, or slice effortlessly through hard-shelled watermelon and gourds. Its nonslip handle affords unparalleled comfort and security, while its safety lock prevents potential injury caused by accidental starts. Additional highlights include a flush-cut blade design, nonslip tabs for easy blade removal and quick cleanup, and a compact design that stashes neatly in a drawer when not in use. The electric carving knife measures approximately 12-2/5 by 2-4/5 by 3-1/5 inches.
