(More customer reviews)Over the past decade, Maytag's reputation has really gone in the tank. Since Whirlpool bought them in 2008 things have looked up in the overall ratings from JD Power and Consumer Reports. I bought this unit the day after Thanksgiving and if I could go back, I would buy something else. It is quiet and I have had no problems with any of the features, except the auto water level. In half of the loads it stops filling to early and the clothes do not get cleaned properly. We have called and they have instructed us exactly how to load the machine and we read the instructions, we have two BA and a Master Degree - my wife and I know how to do laundry, and still it does not always work right. It is a real pain when after a full cycle there are towels that have dry spots on them, or jeans that do not come clean, or our kids clothes that are not getting as clean as they can. The worst part is there is no over-ride; you are stuck with this feature. So now we stand there and continually open the lid while it fills which resets the auto feature. If we do that 2-3 times it fully fills and stuff gets clean. If the machine fills, it washes really well, is quiet, and so far has been acceptable after 6 weeks. But when it does not fill correctly - WORTHLESS! And we bought the matching dryer - it is dead as we wait for the repairman who is coming in 8 days! Go elsewhere!

(More customer reviews)We've been using the ice maker for a few weeks now, and overall it works very well. Take note of it's size (roughly 12"w x 14"d x 15" h) if you're planning on using it as a counter-top unit -- it's compact but not tiny. It is also louder than expected when the compressor cycles on (a humming / buzzing sound roughly as loud as a person talking), but thankfully this only lasts a few minutes every half-hour or so, so it's not a huge deal. It makes ice in three different sizes, and the ice is good and clear (after an initial cleaning step, see below). It works quickly, making ice within 15 minutes of turn-on and constantly replenishing the supply as it slowly melts in the ice collection bucket if you don't use the ice; as you use up the ice, you simply refill the water supply.
Two other minor negatives: first, the manufacturer uses super-adhesive blue tape to immobilize parts inside the unit during shipment. It is impossible to get rid of the sticky residue the tape leaves behind once removed, although it doesn't seem to affect the taste of the ice or anything. A less adhesive tape, such as a masking tape, would probably serve the same purpose without leaving a residue, however. Just a minor complaint. The other thing is that the unit had an extremely strong, very unpleasant smell initially. It smelled like plastic / rubber, and this smell transferred to the ice, which made using the ice disagreeable and probably inadvisable. Their support staff were helpful, however, and suggested running the machine through a couple of cycles with a mix of water and vinegar. This was a great idea and got rid of the smell almost entirely. The ice now smells and tastes perfect -- that is, it is odorless and tasteless, as ice should be!

(More customer reviews)Bought this at Target a few weeks back after I noticed it was on sale for 109.00. Been wanting one for a long time, but didnt really want to spend 200+ on one. So far so good, Small, pumps out ice quickly, we use Ice in everything we drink, so it keeps right up with us. I would have given this 5 stars but the only issue I have with this, is that its very noisy. When the tray lifts up to drop the ice into the basket the elevation noise is quite loud. but have gotten used to it I think :0.. Friends of ours have several different brands of these ranging in high and low pricing, and for the money, they are all the same.. I would recommend this product without a doubt.
