YourStory Laminating Pouch, 12 Sheets Review

Mine were shipped just fine. But I found out that my local craft store is selling them for cheaper. No need to order them. Amazon's prices go up and down so much, check around. It could be a great deal here one day and not the next.
It takes a while to get use to it. I won't use pictures you can't get another copy of it when you are first starting out learning out to use the Your Story. I run a small preschool and we use it all the time for projects. This size is just right for them to make mini books to take home and share with their families.
If you are going to do bigger project you might want to look into a $25 laminator from Target or Sam's Club (maybe even here on Amazon). You can get get sheets of 200 for around $20. I just cut it down to size from there. You can get two or three pictures per sheet if doing it that way. I use Your Story mostly for the binding only, unless the children want to do a project themselves and then the pre cut sheets from Your Story are eaiser for them.

Cricut Jukebox Cartridge Station Review

This is the most handy machine ever. It really saves me lots of time not having to switch cartridges. I have 9 cartridges now and this holds four. From my understanding you can hook 3 together so run 18 at once. I am thinking of getting a second machine. I really love this one. It works great with the design studio. When you use three cartridges to make one item instead of having to change them over and over it just looks for them on the jukebox for you. The little storage container is great to. You can keep everything together instead of in all those little boxes. I also love the locking side tabs for the lid and storage container. They are kid proof and my 2 year old can't get them open.

*This review assumes that you have at least some basic knowledge of the Cricut line from ProvoCraft. If you do not, I highly recommend that you do two things. 1) Visit the product line website through Provocraft and 2) Visit any number of scrapbooking clubs or just general scrapbooking message boards or websites. You can use your favorite search engine to locate one. The ProvoCraft site will introduce you to the product line, give technical specifications, and show you applications through pictures and graphics. The message boards from scrapbooking fanatics will provide you with real world usage ideas and give you a real feel for how the machine may or may not work for you.*
ProvoCraft introduced the Cricut Expression, meant to be an expansion of their smaller, more mobile Cricut Create product. The idea was to create a product, not meant for transport, that could do what the Cricut does, but on a larger scale. The improvement to the LCD screen is meant to further enhance the product, and now "shows" better than the original screens.
Is bigger better? Well that's only a question you can answer. Is it worth the extra money? (as much as $200 more?) and further, what to do with your existing smaller Cricut?
First, for non-scrapbooking uses, you may find that the larger Cricut Expression has real application in a wide variety of settings - schools, school projects, promotions, etc. The fact remains, being able to cut larger sized letters and artwork has big advantages when you're creating large items for people to view from a distance. But you cannot ignore the added advanatages of a larger machine in the scrapbooking world either. While you might not choose to create huge letters for every project, the ability to do so can really only be viewed as a positive. Additionally, as the Cricut cartridge library expands and becomes more complex, you will find the larger cuts to be somewhat freeing. Cutting a "character" for example, can be a frustrating thing when it comes time to assemble very small parts on a page. Having the larger option allows you to really give some pop to a page.
The good news for all Cricut clients is that ProvoCraft had the good sense to make a product that accepts the same cartridges as older models. Can you imagine the furor if you had to go back to buying the same type of cartridges at upwards of $50 each in order to get the same results on the Expression. Here, ProvoCraft is banking on enough people wanting to make larger items that folks will end up owning both. The secondary market for the smaller Cricuts is now booming. And by the way, replacement blades fit both machines. Another plus.
And yes, selling your other, smaller Cricut is certainly an option. You may create a real opportunity for someone to own a Cricut that otherwise couldn't afford a new one. Donation to a school or church makes sense too. Or, keep it......
See, the original Crucut was made to be portable. And you will find that it's far more portable than the Expression. Not to mention, the Expression takes up considerably more table top space. No, it doesn't look like it will, but wait until you get it out of the box and put it on your craft table, especially if you put it next to your smaller Cricut. And think about this: When you head off to a crop, what is the one thing that's usually somewhat at a premium when you get to your "spot" at the crop........ space.
They do make rolling cases for the Expression, and these are probably a worthwhile investment if you intend to own one Cricut machine and you intend to tote the thing around. The cases offer protection and ample space for cartridges and accessories. The Expression is heavy, so you'll enjoy the wheels. Yes, there are people that tote their Expressions to crops, but you may find that keeping it at home for your projects works best in conjunction with transporting your smaller unit to crops.
Expression cuts on mat sizes 12 X 12 or 12 X 24 (sold separately). Mats come in packs, usually 3 per, and the purpose of the mat is to hold the piece you are cutting, firmly in place. These mats do lose their tackiness over time, and you will need to replace the mats with more frequent use. (Note, tackniess in this sense means stickiness, not fashion faux pas!) With the Cricut Expression, you can cut in Portrait or Landscape mode.
Now about the price. Amazon's price is pretty good (the vendor), and far better than you will find from ProvoCraft itself. Shopping around for this item will be beneficial to you.
Note that the Expression can be utilzed with a computer (as can the older model). The new Gypsy, now out ($299 or a bit less online), promises to revolutionize scrapbooking - and will work with any of the Cricuts. I shudder at the $500 retail pricetag for the Cricut expression. $300 range seems reasonable for all that the machine will do, especially for the avid scrapbooker. Price drops to at least the $299 level are frequent. Coupons generally do not work on ProvoCraft items at places like Michaels. If you want to purchase a new one on EBAY, do your research and select sellers that offer NEW IN BOX (abbreviated NIB) and have nothing less than excellent seller ratings.
Don't overlook the other applications, now that you have a larger size. Science Fair displays, sineage, multitude of craft projects and even pumpkin carving, and yes, that's right, I said Pumpkin Carving. I've seen folks transfer some of these Cricut images onto the face of a pumpkin.
Is bigger better? In this instance, it is - IF you're inclined to create larger fonts and images. But, if after considering your scrapbook needs, you don't think you'll really have the need for larger anything, skip the product, head to a crop, and borrow a little Expression time from someone who toted theirs along. My guess is almost every group will have one.
And there's another idea... if you've got a group, maybe split the cost and rotate it month to month to the host house, letting the host enjoy it for a month and allowing the group to use it communally at each crop.
Pricing Assistance: Do not pay more than $299.00 plus tax for this item. The retailer at Amazon actually has it for less, AND at retail places like Michaels, wait for the sale. Unless you have money to burn, paying $499.00 for the Expression is entirely too much.

My passion for card-making naturally led to my desire to purchase a personal electronic cutting system. In reading various cardmaking magazines, I noticed there were only a few personal electronic cutting systems to choose from, but the choice was pretty obvious for me.
After watching the Cricut informercial ([..] I became intrigued. The Cricut system is made by Provocraft ([...]). I did searches on Ebay ([...] and Craigslist ([...]) in hopes of finding a good deal. At the time, the resale price on these sites was so close to the price offered at WalMart ([...], that it didnft make sense to try to buy it used when I could have a new one and the ability to conveniently return it if there was a problem. I also liked that WalMart and Michaels ([...] carried other Provocraft products such as cartridges, mats, pens and a toolkit. There also was a wide variety of cartridges I could select from both WalMart, Michaels and Ebay. Each cartridge contains a unique set of images or fonts. Some of the cartridges include: Animal Kingdom (animals); Mickey Mouse (Disney), Christmas Cheer (Seasonal), and much more. Only once did I pay a ridiculous amount for a cartridge ($99 for Paperdolls). At the time, it was very new, widely popular and hard to get. Now, as a rule, I only purchase cartridges when they are on sale. Michaels often has a sale where these cartridges are only $35 - $40. If I bring a Michaels ad to WalMart, any cashier can perform a price match. WalMart is great about price matching cricut cartridges, dvds, etc.
There are 3 versions of the Cricut cutting system:
1. Cricut (original)
2. Cricut Expressions
3. Cricut Create (Sold Exclusively at Michaels)
I purchased the first model and loved it right away. A few months later, I then sold my system on craigslist and ordered their largest system, the Cricut Expressions from WalMart. This model is capable of cutting larger sizes up to 12 x 24, the standard scrapbook size sheet is 12" x 12". The third model, the Cricut Create, is an improvement on the first small model and sold exclusively at Michaels.
The other great features of this cutting system is the ability to draw. You can replace the cutting blade with Cricut pens to draw, instead of cut, images. You can also purchase Cricut Vinyl adhesive sheets to cut images for decorating the interior of your home. There is also the ability to connect your Cricut machine to your computer via a USB cable. You can then use the Cricut Design Studio software to prearrange the layout of your images before cutting. The Cricut Design Studio software also allows you to view the images of all Cricut cartridges, but you can not cut with them unless you own the cartridge. Another option is to use a third party software, such as Sure Cuts A Lot to cut from your existing fonts or to create your own images to cut. This product is by Craft Edge and is available on ebay or by clicking this link: [...]
This machine is lots of fun, versatile, and widely available by big retail giants. I would highly recommend purchasing this machine. For more information on crafts, see my blog at [...]

The Cricut Expression Personal Electronic Cutter is an innovative die-cutting machine from Provo Craft. As the largest of the Cricut machines, the Cricut Expression allows cuts from a tiny 1/4 inch up to an impressive 23 1/2 inch tall. Its 6 modes and 4 functions offer greater customization of cuts, and new settings and menus add functionality to the machine. Unlike traditional die-cutting machines, the Cricut Expression is portable and cuts quickly and easily. Just select the image you want and press CUT! You won\'t have to worry about storing expensive and bulky dies. A single cartridge for the Cricut Expression is the equivalent of hundreds of dies from a traditional die-cutting system, but Cricut cartridges can fit in the palm of your hand. Cricut Expression 290300 Personal Electronic Cutter Review

The Expression is an awesome machine! I have no cons about the machine itself. About the cutting mat, if it's too sticky, press a clean t-shirt down on the mat & peel it up to remove some stickiness. Simply pressing your clean hands on the mat will also remove excess stickiness and woks just as well. If the mat has lost stickiness, wash thoroughly with dish soap (Goo Gone might be needed) and dry thoroughly. Spray with Krylon Easy-Tack, let the Krylon dry thoroughly and, if needed, press & peel a clean t-shirt (or hands) to remove excess stickiness. Use a lint roller after cutting especially "linty" paper and after each session with your Cricut. The mats will last a really, really long time this way.
I'm sure Provo Craft does not recommend doing anything other than buying new mats, but those who've been using the Cricut since the beginning have found ways to work around the mat issue.
There are also software programs that are compatible with the Cricut that will allow you to cut the True Type fonts installed on your computer, as well as many other file types and designs. (Not Cricut Design Studio, but other, non-Provo Craft programs such as Sure Cuts A Lot and Make The Cut.) Google is your friend. ;)
I wish Provo Craft would release their own software that will allow Cricut users to cut our own fonts, but it hasn't happened (despite begging from customers).
Search the web for discussion boards with Cricut topics. There's a wealth of info out there, as well people who are excited about their machines and eager to help. :)

A fantastic tool for many types of crafters. The Cricut Create will cut up to a 6x12 inch object. Since you don't need a computer, you can easily put it on any crafting table you're using, or carry it with you for "crafting get-togethers". I buy blank recycled type cards/envelopes and make my own greeting cards, and can also decorate those inexpensive recycled brown paper bag gift bags. There are very many cartridges for shapes and many for fonts, and some do both. School teachers will find a variety of cartridges very suited to the classroom. There are also cartridges with businesses in mind. You can decorate walls, canisters, make paper dolls, etc. I recently made a hunting birthday card for my son-in-law using the Camp Out cartridge. Crafters will love this machine.

This product is fantastic! If you're looking for a personal die cut system I wouldn't bother with anything else on the market right now. It is compact when closed, so it won't take up unnecessary table space. It is also very light and has a comfortable handle for travelling.
Yes, it is a bit of an investment, but it is honestly a better deal than many of the cheaper systems out there. It can cut each shape in 11 sizes from 1 inch to 5.5 inches. Most cartridges are around $90; compare that to quickutz & sizzix alphabets which retail for $150, can only cut one size, and take up a lot more storage space.
Blades are easy to replace and the cutting mats seem to last longer than cricut suggests. You'll get more life out of them by rotating the mat each time you cut and also storing it with the plastic sheet to keep dust from accumulating on the sticky surface.
I've heard of people having difficulty cutting thicker cardstock with this machine, but we have been able to cut bazzil easily by setting the blade depth to 6 and the speed & pressure to their max settings.
I've used both the Cricut and Xyron Personal Cutting System extensively and would recommend the Cricut.
