(More customer reviews)The cooler seemed to work ok, would take a long time to cool, didn't time it because that wasn't an issue with me. Used the hot water once, took 3 minutes to heat up. I usually put the water in the microwave and heat it that way, much faster. My problem with this cooler is the slow speed it dispensed water, very slow. The manual or on the box said something like .1 gallons per hour! I could see dying of thirst using this cooler, I live in a desert, can't wait that long for a cup of water.

Avanti Hot/Cold Tabletop Water Cooler Review

(More customer reviews)This product uses the standard water bottles but, does not hold but a little over 16 oz. of water at a time. It says in the handbook that if you use 2 cups of water, it will take the machine 25 minutes to get the next 2 cups cold. It doesn't say that in the description on the item. Product does not have the piercing device that you turn the water bottle upside down on. So I'm not sure how the water is supposed to drain into the very small reservoir. If you have to remove the entire cap from the top of the water bottle, that is very dumb. I will stick with the cooler I have that sets on the floor taking up room.

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these six months ago because I thought bottom loading was a great idea. Even after following the cleaning instructions in detail the water still tasted of plastic and a few days later the unit started smelling of burnt plastic. I called Primo customer support and they told me the unit must be faulty and I should return it. I returned it and I got another one and the water tasted fine. A couple of months later and the unit constantly beeps and flashes indicating the water bottle must be replaced. The problem is the water bottle is full or half full when it does that and when I take the bottle out it is under tremendous pressure since no water is flowing into the unit. I called Primo again and they had no solution. Its too late to return it. Money down the drain. I absolutely would not recommend this to anyone. Primo should recall these dispensers and issue a full refund, but its probably too late for me anyway since I now equate Primo with Problemo.

(More customer reviews)While it took a while to get here, my husband agrees with me that the Avanti Hot and Cold Water Dispenser was well worth the wait.
After our old dispenser gave up the ghost after twenty plus years, we looked at each other and said, 'what do we do now?' We tried shopping for another one locally but nobody had what we were looking for and we were, quite frankly, spoiled.
What do we like about the Avanti?
As the poet put it, let me count the ways.
First of all, because of its Energy Saver feature, the Avanti consumes less electricity than our old dispenser which ran constantly. It was also noisy. The Avanti, in contrast, is very quiet.
The Avanti features a neat little safety lock on the hot water faucet, which the old dispenser did not The storage space in the bottom, while it doesn't keep anything cold, is quite handy.
The Avanti's white plastic square design looks clean and nice. Our old brown metal dispenser did not. Also, unlike some of the round dispensers we looked at, the Avanti is not 'tippy'. Since it sits next to the kitchen doorway and a heavy traffic area, this was a real concern.
We also looked at dispensers that pumped from the bottom as well as the reviews and decided they were not for us.
The only CON was a chemical, almost musty, taste in the water for a few weeks after we got the Avanti, but that is now gone.
All in all, we are extremely pleased with the Avanti. It's much, much better than our old dispenser and we definitely give it 5 stars.

Avanti Tabletop Water Dispenser Review

(More customer reviews)I followed the preparation instructions to the letter and two days later I was getting complaints from co-workers that the flow was too slow and that, most importantly, it was leaking at a mild but consistent rate...and not from the drains at the bottom of the unit but from the seams along the sides of the bottom, especially if it were tilted (we don't normally tilt our water dispenser but I did tilt it and it definitely increased in its pour rate). The unit would just sit there and leak at a slow but, again, consistent and irritating rate. I wish that I had just not bought it but I am glad that we have the old tall tower that this unit was to replace because of its nice size.
Think again before you buy this.

Just an aweful product.
This is a very Cheaply made, badly engineered and aweful quality control for such simple device costing so much for what it is.
As soon as I set this up, it sprung a leak from the spoket that connects to main body of the dispenser.
I tightened the plastic nut that holds the spoket to the stainless steel reservoir as hard as middleaged man can.
The rubber gasket that suppose to prevent leak is not soft enough so it's letting water out about drop per second.
If you happen to bump the spoket accidently, water is leaking everywhere.
Later, I also found another slow leak from the base of reservoir.
The reservoir is made of what looks like thick sheet metal, machine rolled body and stamped in base.
The leak is coming from where the body meets the base.
Stay far away from this product. You been warned.

Avanti Hot and Cold Water Dispenser - White Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this water dispenser for my office after the old one quit working. Having read quite a few reviews, I felt comfortable that I was getting a good product.
Once set up and filled with water, we discovered that the water it dispensed had a horrible chemical taste and smell. I immediately called Avanti, who told me they do not warranty the taste of the water dispensed, only the unit itself, and was given a lengthy process to try to flush the unit out and get rid of the bad taste. It involved dumping in bleach and much rinsing - and took quite a while. At the end, the water still tasted just as bad. Since Avanti customer service had these rinsing directions at hand to give when I called, I must assume they are aware of the problem with the dispensers and probably field these type of complaints frequently.
Since we were unable to return the unit, I continued flushing water through it hoping to lessen the bad taste. Finally I poured in white vinegar and some water and let it sit all day, and then drained it out and rinsed several times. Success - water finally tastes good to drink. The unit seems to be working properly now, but I am disappointed that a product purchased brand new should have required that much work in order to use it for its intended purpose.

(More customer reviews)1st of all: do NOT believe the instruction booklet when it says not to wash out the unit before use! (They claim it comes ready for use from the factory.) It gave a really "off" flavor to the water till I rinsed out the unit thoroughly with baking soda dissolved in water. DO believe the people who say it takes a long time for water to get cold--it really does, especially the first time you use it. That said, we really like this unit now. It fits nicely on the counter, is easy to use, and provides our family of two with enough cold water.
