Kaiser Bakeware Patisserie Powdered Sugar Sprinkler Review

When I saw this item, I was thinking it would be great for my baking. Except, the top doesn't fit tight enough and the cover, on the other hand, fits too tight. So, when you open the sprinkler to use it the top comes off with the cover which could leave you with a lot of mess.

Wilton Cookie Master Plus Cookie Press Review

This looks exactly like the one I bought at a craft store for $20 on sale. It is battery powered (4 AA batteries so very heavy). It took me twice to three times as long to make my spritz cookies as with my mechanical press. This was because: (1) the button was hard to press down so I had to rest my hand after a while, (2) the thing strained to push the dough down, squealing and screeching the whole time, quitting dead every so often,(3) the dough got past the plunger so you couldn't fill it up the whole way after the first time, and (4) I had to scrape an awful lot of mushed dough out of the bottom because it just would not release. I never had such problems in all my years of making spritz cookies. Plus, it apparently is not dishwasher safe as the instructions say to handwash it. I took it back and told the store that this thing was defective (I'm not sure if they were designed that way or just this one had problems) and they refunded my money. Also, it does not have a wreath disk, instead it has a pumpkin disk--what's with that? BTW, I used good batteries. I will never get another electric press. I thought Wilton was a quality brand but I would not buy a cookie press made by them.

Wilton Fondant Alphabet Number Cookie Cutter Cut Outs, Set of 37 Review

I bought this set for my classroom. They have nice sharp edges and give a clean cut. True, the characters are not large- but the scale is perfect for using on cakes, etc. As for using them, I find that I roll my fondant out a little thicker- and make sure that it is even (Try the new rolling pins with height spacers). I also find that if I chill my fondant sheet after rolling for a few minutes it is easier to handle the characters!

Wilton Fondant 20 Inch Rolling Pin Review

Wilton Fondant 20 Inch Rolling Pin

I kind of regret this purchase. I bought it when I was taking a Wilton cake class but I wish I hadn't bought it because my wooden rolling pin works just as good (teacher advised us not to use wooden rolling pins because it wouldn't come out smooth, BUT for large pieces of fondant meant to cover a cake you use the side on the bottom). I would advise just trying out using your wooden rolling pin OR buy one of the other Wilton rolling pins that has handles. Not having handles is reeeeaally hard on your hands. However, the small rolling pin that Wilton sells for rolling smaller pieces is something I would recommend.

I signed up for the Wilton course and was hesitant to get this product. Although you don't need it if you have a rolling pin, it is helpful for rolling out smaller peices of gum paste to make flowers. It has plastic guides on the ends to assist in rolling the thickness you prefer. The first time I went to cover a cake I realized how important a feature like this was (mine was WAY too thick). Although this rolling pin is small, it is quite helpful and not nearly as clumsy as the big rolling pin.

Wilton 2104-9008 Chocolate Pro 3-Tier Chocolate Fountain Review

Wilton 2104-9008 Chocolate Pro 3-Tier Chocolate Fountain
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I was very worried after reading all the reviews on every Chocolate Fountain out there. The ones that had decent reviews seemed awfully pricey for a kitchen item that, honestly, is less functional and more novelty. The less expensive ones had widely variable ratings.
I decided to take a chance and order the Wilton Pro, despite some of the negative ratings. The base is fairly hefty and the bottom bowl is solid and attached to the base. It is lined with metal and when on 'Preheat' mode, heats up without turning the auger and circulating the chocolate. The three tiers over which the chocolate cascades are made of heavy-duty plastic and locks together but comes apart for cleaning.
You can pretty much dissemble the three tiers and the auger that runs up the middle, and after any big chunks of chocolate have been removed, soak in hot water or put in the dishwasher and the cleanup is exceptionally easy. The most difficult part of the fountain to clean is the base. I poured out any excess chocolate(do NOT pour down the drain as it can harden in the pipes and cause blockages) and then mopped the base up clean with a sponge. I used the sprayer on my kitchen faucet with the bowl angled to let the water run down into the sink the entirely rinse it clean without getting the base wet where the motor is housed. Clean up took all of 5 minutes.
I took this to my daughter's first grade class for their Valentine party. It was a *huge* hit. I used two bags of Wilton's chocolate but the instructions give recipes to use Wilton Candy Melts(the colored kind), white chocolate or regular chocolate(chips, bars, etc,). All need to have a various amount of oil added to get the proper consistency. The Wilton Fondue Chocolate(purchased here on Amazon or at Michael's- half off with a coupon!) was very, very runny.
The fountain worked well with the two bags and only at the very end after 20 first graders and a bunch of parent volunteers had gone through twice and used up most of thew chocolate did the fountain stop fully cascading- it still ran fine, just didn't have the cascade effect all the way around continuously.
We had a ton of fun with it. We made up all sorts of stuff for the kids to dip- sliced bananas, apple chunks, pretzels, pound cake, marshmallows, pineapple, raspberries, strawberries, gummi bears, gum drops, shortbread cookies, shredded wheat biscuits, and even potato chips. Everyone loved it. We used wooden skewers, maybe 12" long, plus toothpicks, plus shorter skewers(4"). Some kids made kebabs with the larger skewer and some dipped individual items with toothpicks or the smaller skewers. I set out mini muffin cups filled with nuts and raisins that the kids could dip into the leftover chocolate on their plates.
Set up was simple. The most important thing- whatever chocolate you use, melt it thoroughly before use and not just to soft-and-pasty, no, you want it to be liquid. The fountain isn't designed so much to melt the chocolate though you couple probably pour it into the base on preheat and let it sit and melt for a while- [probably a long while. It's definitely made to maintain the chocolate in a melted form rather than to actually melt it. Easiest way to melt the chocolate is to put it in a heavy duty gallon ziploc bag- leave a corner open and pop it into the microwave. Take it out every 30 seconds for 2-3 minutes and knead it. This will keep it form burning and help improve the consistency by distributing the heat.
I had absolutely no problems with the fountain. It is a pleaser for both kids and adults alike. I have a bunch of people who have asked me if they could borrow it for a party. I think we'll be using ours fairly often even at home. We have a Le Creuset fondue set and love to do fondue but it is a pain to clean-up between the cheese/oil main course and then do chocolate for dessert in it. Now we can just use the fountain!
Fun- and worth every penny for all the fun the kids had with it! I'd buy this all over again and recommend it to others.

Wilton Chocolate Pro Electric Melting Pot Review

Wilton Chocolate Pro Electric Melting Pot
Average Reviews:

Some time ago, I worked as a pastry chef/candy maker using a very expensive chocolate melter/temperer as one of my equipment staples. I have melted and dipped more chocolate than you could shake a candy box at.
I took a chance and picked up one of these locally (Wilton Chocolate Melter Deluxe) with a melting/warm/off switch. There are no exact temperature controls on this model, no recipes, but the instructions are pretty straight forward. The worst enemy of chocolate is water, which they casually mention in the instruction phamphlet. I'd like to pass along that even just a tiny sputter of water will cause beautiful, satiny melted chocolate to seize up with no recovery at all possible. So if you want to dip fresh fruit, it absolutely must be 100% dry or your chocolate will harden in seconds. Don't even chance a strawberry hull (the green part) being the least bit wet because even just the smallest droplet of water is all it takes to ruin a whole batch of chocolate.
I found the Wilton to melt the chocolate quickly with continual gentle and slow stirring like an expensive chocolate temperer does, using a wooden paddle-like spoon and NOT metal. After all was smoothly melted (I use only organic non-GMO chocolate) and the control was switched onto "warm", the temperature was held well. Again, stirring gently and frequently helps maintain even temperatures throughout your chocolate mixture which is important in keeping your dipping temperature consistent. I dipped over 70 pieces with just 8 oz. of chocolate the first time out with great results.
Another suggestion to help keep "bloom" at bay (the white streaks that can appear on dark and milk chocolates that does not effect flavor) is to set your dipped chocolates away from any air movement. No open windows and out of human traffic where people walk by continually. Even a little bit of air movement can turn a whole batch of newly dipped chocolates into a white bloomin' mess. This is caused by rapid temperature change and/or improper tempering. This unit is not a temperer, but gentle handling can still give good results.
I'm looking forward to making lots of chocolates for the holidays and this little melter gets my whole-hearted vote! Chocolate is an experience and worth not giving up on. If you don't have great success the first time out, try smaller batches and you will get the feel for it. This little melter is a boon to the home chocolatier novice.

Get ready to wow friends and family with delicious gourmet sweet treats--perfect for adding to the festive mood of birthdays, holiday dinner parties, and other fun get-togethers. This electric melting pot makes it easy to go from average to extraordinary. Shaped like a small crock pot with a large open handle, the unit features a removable nonstick melting pot that holds up to 2-1/2 cups at a time. Simply add chocolate or Candy Melts brand confectionery coating and slide the power switch from "off" to "melt" for a creamy consistency in 10 minutes or less--no microwave or double-boiler needed. It also offers "warm" mode to keep contents at the right consistency without overheating. Mold lollipops and dipped-center candies like a pro; serve chocolate-dipped strawberries or elegant soiree-style fondue; create flavored chocolate sauces for drizzling over ice cream or silky ganache glaze to pour over cakes--the creative options are endless. Thoughtfully designed, the melting pot provides a spout for drip-free pouring, an "on" indicator light, a stay-cool base for safety, and non-skid feet that keep the unit steady on the counter. When finished, dispose of any unused chocolate or confectionery coating while it's still melted and fluid, then allow the melting pot to cool completely and wash by hand in warm, soapy water. The base of the unit can be wiped clean and both the melting pot and base should be dried thoroughly before storing. The UL-listed melting pot measures approximately 5-1/2 by 10-1/2 by 8-2/5 inches.
