First this item can be purchased much cheaper it's sold under several names to other countries. Mine came with no user instructions. So here is the way to get it to work. The rod that slides in to lock the orange in place, has a screw in it that was locked too tight. This will cause the whole rod to turn and the orange will rip out. The rod has a groove in it so the screw can be loosened which will allow the pronged head to swivel or turn on the rod. I used lock tight on the screw, after adjusting, so the screw would not back out with use (it might not do that anyway but). Then move the cutting blade out by loosening the lock nut slideing it out and retightening so it can cut the skin, also use the screw located near the bottom of the blade arm to help fine tune the blade cutting depth. Once I did those things it peeled the oranges with very little white inner skin left on them and they didn't rip out of the prongs. It actually can work very well on oranges, lemons, potatoes, apples, etc. I have an electric peeler that will peel oranges and lemons but it leaves a lot of white inner skin on and I can't adjust the cutting depth to prevent this so this machine has a place for me to use it. I can fully understand someone getting upset if it wasn't adjusted correctly and no instructions. The one I bought was intended for a South American country and had no istructions. Made me realize how Americans expect detailed instructions, but apparently people in most countries don't.
