(More customer reviews)One point that hasn't been mentioned: Other opaque projectors have a space at the bottom, where the original can be placed, with the projector resting on top. This lets you use odd-sized or over-sized originals (books, for example -- or even 3-D objects) and locate the right area that you want to project, by simply moving the projector (or the original) around a bit. Even Artograph's other projectors work this way.
But this model wants you to fix the original in place on TOP of the machine, above the mirror and lens, using a couple of metal strips. And there's no sheet of glass to rest the original on -- you're supposed to use these 2 metal strips (as I understand it) to hold it up, and make it hover over the mirror. There's no way to know exactly the right place to put the key part of the original. And if the original is not a suitable size to fit within the parameters of the projector and its metal strips, well you are out of luck. NOT practical!
My solution? Turn the whole thing upside-down, leave the lid open and set it down on top of the original. Works for me! But maybe somebody else can make another suggestion, or point-out something I am missing.
Otherwise, I am very happy with it so far. I was given a Magnajector as a kid, many years ago, used it countless times, and this is a nice upgrade from that (once I turn it upside-down!). Reasonably priced, with strong and clear projection.
