(More customer reviews)I have been making "gun" cookies for fify-five years and have used five or six different types of cookie press and this one is the best one I have ever used. Just mix up the dough (my favorite is the spritz), put it in the gun, click the handle a couple of times and start pressing and nineteen out of twenty cookies come out perfectly. I make them every Christmas and have done so since I was a teenager and baked them by the hundreds and sold them to my brother's office mates and so have had a lot of experience with cookie presses. This one is truly the best ever.

(More customer reviews)This looks exactly like the one I bought at a craft store for $20 on sale. It is battery powered (4 AA batteries so very heavy). It took me twice to three times as long to make my spritz cookies as with my mechanical press. This was because: (1) the button was hard to press down so I had to rest my hand after a while, (2) the thing strained to push the dough down, squealing and screeching the whole time, quitting dead every so often,(3) the dough got past the plunger so you couldn't fill it up the whole way after the first time, and (4) I had to scrape an awful lot of mushed dough out of the bottom because it just would not release. I never had such problems in all my years of making spritz cookies. Plus, it apparently is not dishwasher safe as the instructions say to handwash it. I took it back and told the store that this thing was defective (I'm not sure if they were designed that way or just this one had problems) and they refunded my money. Also, it does not have a wreath disk, instead it has a pumpkin disk--what's with that? BTW, I used good batteries. I will never get another electric press. I thought Wilton was a quality brand but I would not buy a cookie press made by them.

(More customer reviews)Over the years, I've tried pretty much every cookie press on the market to make our traditional spritz butter cookies at Christmastime. Year after year, I'd struggle with a crummy press, and buy another one for next year. I even scoured the antique stores to find an old, all-metal one like my mom's! Finally (thanks to Martha Stewart, actually) I found this one. And my cookie press search ended.
This press is very well made. It's sturdy metal, and nothing bends or falls off. Dough goes through just as it's supposed to. The molding disks are strong and don't bend from the dough pushing through (a lot of other brands do that.)
If you're going to buy ONE press, buy this one. It's far better than the others.

(More customer reviews)I bought this item at a local store. I plugged it in and it just hummed. Eventually it would grind and kept shutting off. I took it back to the store and tried (3) more in the store. They all ran terribly! I brought the fourth one home that sort of worked and finally got it to make about four cookies and it stopped working! I'm bringing it back to the store today for a refund. This product is poorly designed, noisy, unreliable and a waste of money. Additionally the manufacturer charges you $10 (a third of the purchase price) if you send it back to them for repair under warranty! Wow! I wonder what happened to quality control with Cuisinart?? I wouldn't buy this product again!

Wilton Comfort Grip Cookie Press Review

(More customer reviews)I love baking cookies. It's my hobby and I make more cookies than I could possibly eat. Making the simple spritz is something that I have never made before so I wanted to buy in inexpensive press to see if I would like it. I read the reviews prior to buying so I was leery and didn't know what to expect but I liked the price. I didn't use the recipe on the box because I have a cookie "bible" that I always get my recipes from. (please see end of review for recipe- it's a keeper, trust me!)
In the end, everything about this press was easy and quick. For so many times of rolling and molding and dropping cookies to be able to simply place and squeeze was a welcome change. The tube was easy to fill, the trigger was accurate and the cookies were cute. I will note that in order for the trigger to work the plunger teeth *must* be facing the handle. Nowhere in the directions does it say this and I was confounded when it wasn't clicking at first. After fooling for a minute I figured out what I needed to do. The trigger was comfortable and easy to use. Even my 4 year old helped. Every cookie looked like a clone of the next.
Taking note of the reviews of broken plastic pieces I was very aware of how tight I was tightening the threads as I believe that was the cause of the problem with many of these reviewers. The rings only need to be finger tightened. There is no need to give an extra twist to make it air tight. The press actually need a bit of air exchange in order to work properly so it is probably why reviewers were also having problems with dough leaking around the rings.
I hope this helps some make a decision, I had no problems with my press and I believe it will be a good one to have for the yearly Christmas cookie bake marathon!
Christmas Spritz
2 1/4 cup flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 1/4 cup powdered sugar
1 cup butter, softened
1 egg
1 tsp almond extract
1 tsp vanilla extract
food coloring, optional
Preheat to 375. Mix butter and powered sugar in mixer bowl and beat until creamy. Beat in flavorings and egg. Gradually add flour and salt until well blended. Tint if desired. Bake for 10 minutes or until just set and not yet brown.
