(More customer reviews)Used these this morning for making crumpets for Xmas breakfast. Worked beautifully. I didn't have to try to keep all the crumpets the same shape, didn't have to chase the batter all over the skillet. Very handy tool. My only problem was that my largest skillet will only hold 1 at a time flat (the second starts climbing the slanted side). So it took a while to make a batch, but maybe I just need to invest in a larger skillet! :)
I shut one of them in the drawer this morning, and it didn't damage it or warp it out of shape at all, so they're pretty sturdy.

English muffins are not really muffins: the yeast batter is cooked on a griddle, making these ???muffins??? a type of Americanized crumpet, a cross between a pancake and a flatbread. Rings like these give English muffins their characteristic shape. They are often preheated with the griddle, then batter is spooned into them and the muffins are cooked on one side before the rings are removed and the muffins flipped over to finish cooking. Packaged four to a box, the rings can also be used to make perfectly round pancakes and sunny-side up eggs, or they can double as biscuit cutters.
