I love this waffle iron! I've made waffles with it flawlessly, as well as small cakes (a recipe book comes with the waffler and includes this recipe). I even bought another one as a gift. I've had no problems with anything breaking or malfunctioning, and this iron is very simple to use. I get perfect flowers every time, and I've had this iron over 2 years.

VillaWare 2010 UNO Pro Belgian Gravity Waffler Review

VillaWare 2010 UNO Pro Belgian Gravity Waffler
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this machine because I liked the fact that it made 1.5" thick waffles, rather than the 1.25" waffles that the other flip machines make. I also liked the short handle of the iron and its compact appearance. I felt that the machine was sturdier than the Waring Pro waffle machine, the other machine I was thinking of buying. I was hestitant to spend $100 on a waffle machine. But I reasoned that if I was willing to pay $80 for the Waring Pro, I could pay $20 more for a machine I really wanted. I am definitely happy with my decision!
The first time I used the machine, I used a belgian waffle mix and a spray made for waffle machines. The first waffle was okay, but when I adjusted the browning level to 5, instead of the 3-4 suggested by the manufacturer, I got the crisp and fluffy waffle that I wanted. The machine beeps when it is hot enough to fill and again when the waffle is ready. The whole process went smoothly; there was no overflow, no dough got stuck and I was able to wipe the machine with a damp cloth when I was done. I also used a pastry brush to absord any left over grease and remove the one crumb that was left behind. I made four waffles for four people, but they were so big that we just split two between the four of us and saved the other two for later. Everyone loved the waffles! I don't remember how long it took to make all four waffles, but I don't believe that it took more than 30 minutes to heat up the waffle iron, mix the batter and cook the waffles (the mix had to stand for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to activate).
The machine is heavier than I expected, but not an unreasonable weight. I keep it on top of my kitchen cabinet because it takes up a lot of counter space, which is a bad thing in a small kitchen. It takes a while for the machine to cool down, longer than I expected. These are very minor drawbacks. I really love this machine, especially because now I don't have to rely on IHOP when I need a waffle fix!

Housed in durable cast aluminum, this Belgian waffle maker features top and bottom heating units that are rotated 180 degrees during cooking so the grid fills evenly with batter, ensuring consistently browned and crisp results. Easily adjust crispness by selecting among seven browning levels. A chime signals when the waffle is ready, and thanks to the waffle maker's nonstick finish, cooked waffles release easily. The unit produces one round 6-1/4-inch-diameter waffle, a generous 1-1/2 inches thick, with deep pockets for butter and syrup. Other highlights include ready indicator lights, a simple on/off switch, a stay-cool handle, and slip-free feet for stability on the countertop. The waffle maker measures 15-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 7-1/4 inches.

Cuisinart WAF-R Traditional Waffle Iron Review

Cuisinart WAF-R Traditional Waffle Iron
Average Reviews:

I am loving the aesthetics of this thing. It reminds of the heavy-duty, no-nonsense waffle makers at a Waffle House.
The iron heats up quickly - no more than five minutes from off to level 4. The indicator lights are bright, and the audible alert isn't loud or shrill. Any stainless steel case will get hot, so if you are accident-prone, skip this unit and go with one with a plastic case.
I have to disagree with some of the complaints about the handle insulation - this unit isn't a panini press, and doesn't require you to grip it with your whole hand and yank up. Slight upward pressure with your thumb is all that's needed to disengage the lock, free the waffle, and open the lid. And speaking of the locking mechanism: it works perfectly on mine. It is very subtle and does the job.
The plates are non-stick and don't require oiling. I have made dozens of waffles, ranging in doneness from spongy to crispy, and every single one has released cleanly. Again, all it takes is a gentle upward pressure on the handle with your thumb until the lid opens.
One welcome surprise about this unit: it is designed to be stored vertically! The plate hinges and lip of the base make a tripod, giving you more storage options.
My only issue with the WAF-R is that I think the gutters could be a bit bigger. With a new batter, that first waffle can get a little messy.

This silvery little "pod" is actually a waffle iron, a modern day small appliance from Cuisinart. It bakes one large, traditional-style waffle. Customize yours by choosing one of the six brownness settings. There's a red light that lets you know the waffle iron is on and a green light that means it's ready to bake then ready to eat. An audible tone also alerts you. The baking plates are nonstick so your waffles pop right out. Other features include cool-touch handles. For storing, the lid locks in place, the cord wraps then the entire unit can be placed on its side.

Krups FDD912 Expert Waffle Maker with Rotary System Review

Krups FDD912 Expert Waffle Maker with Rotary System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently stayed in a Seattle hotel whose brunch buffet featured a do it yourself waffle bar. The professional waffle maker featured a rotary system that intrigued me--you poured in your batter, rotated the cooking plates, and when the light came on, rotated it back and removed your waffle. This rotary gizmo seemed to make the waffles cook very evenly and crisply.
I set off on a quest to find my OWN rotary waffle maker. I purchased this Krups waffle maker and have been very happy with it. While not quite as heavy duty as the restaurant version I used in Seattle, this is a FINE waffle maker. Here are some of its features:
1) Very well made. Very solid. All parts fit precisely. It has a heavy, durable quality that makes me think it will last me the rest of my life.
2) Easy to clean. The cooking plates remove for easy cleaning. The drip pan snaps in and out very easily and keeps batter from oozing onto your counter.
3) Fun and easy to use. Your brunch guests will be wowed as they watch you rotate your waffle maker! It really does a superior job at making waffles. All the recipes I've tried so far have come out great (even the recipes in the owner's manual--more on that later).
Note that the editor's comments concerning the lights are not quite correct. There are two lights on the top of the unit. One glows red while it is heating, and the other light glows green when the unit is ready to use. The light does NOT come on when the waffle is finished cooking, which makes sense because while the waffle is cooking, the lights are ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE THEM! However, it doesn't take long to figure out how long to cook the waffles after a test one turns out too brown or too light.
4) Easy to store. The handle folds up so you can pop this into a cabinet.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the owner's manual. Maybe it's a translation problem (I assume the original was in German), but the recipes are bizarre.
First of all, American cooks will be disconcerted by the fact that amounts of flour, sugar, butter, etc., are given by weight, not volume (grams, not cups). But anyone with a kitchen scale can adjust to that. But there are other problems.
One of the recipes doesn't give a quantity for salt, it just says "add salt."
Another recipe doesn't give a quantity for sugar, butter, or flour, just says "add same weight as eggs." I weighed the five eggs (255 grams) and added that much sugar, butter, and flour. The recipe thus contained about two cups flour, two cups sugar, and two cups butter with no other liquid than the five eggs. Made kind of a thick, gritty batter that looked more like cake batter than waffle batter. The waffles cooked perfectly, but boy were they strange!! Kind of gritty from all that sugar. I hate to think how many calories they contained!

This waffle iron is perfect. It heats quickly, makes waffles in half the time (about 3.5 min compared to about 7 min in our old iron) AND you can make two at a time. Basically, it cuts the waffle cook time down to 1/4 of what it previously took us. That is great for someone with 2 hungry kids! Some other people commented that waffles stick-we have a problem with the first one occasionally. Even if the first one does not come out perfect looking it still tastes fantastic! I would also recommend using a Belgain Waffle recipie (not pancake mix) to get light and fluffy waffles. .

I purchased the WafflePro 830B (Belgian Waffle version). The waffles are uniformly cooked, and nice and crisp. Love the beeper function it beeps when the waffles are done. No more guessing.
The best part - I added too much batter and of course the batter overflowed past the nicely designed drip edge. Once the iron cooled down I ran my finger around the side of the unit and all of the overflow batter came off easily by wiping my finger over it. No scrubing required. The secret is that the overflow runs on to the plastic body. No metal to burn to and adhere to. The unit cleaned up in a heart beat... Best unit I have seen yet. In the last two months I have tried and returned both the Villaware and the Krups units prior to buying this unit. I am keeping this unit as it is the best, easy to clean, and perfect waffles every time.

We make a large breakfast every Sunday which includes waffles. We use two waffle irons: the Village Ware Mickey Mouse Waffle Iron and this one. The Mickey Mouse one, by far, makes the better waffles, however, these usually go to the kids and my husband and I have ones from the Oster. The Oster waffle iron does not cook the waffles evenly. The top center does not cook as fast as the rest of the unit. We've tried more/less batter, thicker/runnier batter, and adjusting the temperature and nothing helps. I usually "flip" the waffle over and cook it for another 30 seconds to brown the side that didn't cook evenly. However, it's not "bad" enough to warrent buying another one. That's why I could only give it an "average" 3 star rating.

Chef's Choice 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker Review

Chef's Choice 830B WafflePro Classic Belgian Waffle Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Like other reviewers, I looked carefully before choosing this waffle maker. While not the cheapest, I am very happy with it. It makes fantastic waffles, is super easy to use, and is very easy to clean. I was surprised when the instructions stated that you only need to oil the iron once (the first time you use it), and this has proven to be true. The iron needs minimal cleaning after use; in fact, the instructions state that you should not scrub the iron after use - just wipe off any excess batter and put it away. I think the oil in the batter stays on the iron, but am not sure.
There is a wide channel running alongside the iron that catches any spill-overs and sends them down toward the front of the machine, keeping the machine and my counter clean.
Others have pointed out the temperature adjustment feature on this machine, which is straightforward and eay to use. Other machines just had a slider that gave no indication of whether one position was hot, not hot, or whatnot. This one has a series of numbers as well as labels like "lighter" and "darker." Usually, I leave it on 4, but occasionally use 5 - it just depends on the recipe you're using and how crispy you like your waffles.
Speaking of crispy, the one distinct feature of this machine is that there is a switch that alters the way that the waffle is baked, depending on the type of waffle you are making. According to the instruction manual, the switch changes the recovery time of the waffle iron. So, if you are cooking a desert waffle that is crispy, you use the switch to slow down the recovery time so the waffle iron takes longer to get back up to temperature, which has the effect of baking the waffle evenly from the inside out. For a regular waffle, the iron will recover much faster, which browns the outside while leaving the inside moist - precisely the effect you want. In any case, a neat feature if you like crispy waffles.
Finally, you can roll up the cord underneath the machine and stand it on its end (notice that the back of the machine is flat). This takes up a lot less space in my cabinet.
Overall, I would highly recommend this waffle iron to anyone who wants to buy one that is easy to use and will give them years of use. I spent quite a bit of time looking for this in the hopes of being able to avoid repeating this exercise a year from now. I am confident that I will be using this machine for many years to come.

Waring Pro WMK300 Belgian Waffle Maker, Brushed Stainless Review

Waring Pro WMK300 Belgian Waffle Maker, Brushed Stainless
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Waring Pro Belgian Waffle Maker will look familiar to most people who have stayed at a hotel that offers a complimentary continental breakfast. The waffle maker is usually located next to the toaster, with cups of batter nearby. Those continental breakfasts are a huge reason why I now own this waffle maker: my husband fell in love with the idea of owning one ourselves.
The operation is simple. Plug it in and wait for the iron to preheat. Brush or spray a little oil on the surface (first waffle only.) Pour batter on the nonstick grid, close the top, rotate the handle, and wait for the machine to beep when the waffle is done. Rotate the iron back to the original position, lift the lid, and remove the waffle. The whole cooking process takes about five minutes. The only real trick to operating this waffle maker is finding a good recipe. I didn't bother trying Waring's selections and instead found my favorite recipe online.
If you use a cooking spray instead of brushing on oil, make sure that you use the kind for grilling and high heat cooking. The original Pam leaves a sticky residue since it is not meant for such temperatures. A good, flavorless oil works best.
The whole thing cleans up in minutes, if not seconds. The nonstick grids release the waffles so cleanly that I never have to clean it. Too much batter poured onto the surface might require some exterior clean-up, but the removable metal pan underneath the waffle iron can be easily hand-washed. A temperature control allows you to control the darkness/crispness of your waffles. The manufacturer suggests a setting of 4; I found that I had to set it to 5 before I got an adequately crisp result. (This may have to do with the recipe I use as well as my personal preference for a crisp exterior.)
For recipes, I suggest that cooks use those that require stiff egg white folded into the batter for the classic Belgian waffle. These recipes usually only take ten minutes or so to whip up, and are not as time-consuming as those that require yeast.
All in all, I like this waffle maker. Now, if only my husband would make waffles at home as he does in hotels, instead of waiting for me to do it.

I was skeptical about purchasing this waffle maker from other reviews online but I am glad I did. This is the best waffle maker!! I used a box of Krusteaz waffle mix and followed the directions on the box, set the waffle maker on 3, sprayed some PAM on the waffle maker, pour 1/2 cup of waffle batter in each slot and when it beeped I opened to find a big Belgian waffle slices cooked to perfection! There was no issue with spill overs, the color was a nice golden brown and it was fluffy, had a nice crisp but still soft, topped with fresh strawberries, syrup and whipped cream and we've got the best Belgian waffles right at home! It came right off the machine with no sticking or mess and the clean up was nothing as I only had to wipe it down with a paper towel after it cooled down. I absolutely love this waffle maker and would recommend to anyone. The unit did not get too hot to handle and the handle stayed nice and cool. It was so fun cooking up the waffles that before I knew it I went through a whole box! The great thing is you can make these ahead, freeze them and when you want a waffle just heat up in a toaster. No more frozen Eggo Waffles for me as I now have fresh homemade waffles right at my fingers anytime I feel like it. And the money I am saving because Eggo Waffles can get pretty expensive!

No need to wait until Sunday mornings for homemade waffles thanks to this easy-to-use countertop appliance. The appliance makes four square-shaped 1-inch-deep Belgian waffles at a time, with indents for easily separating the four pieces and a nonstick cooking surface to ensure effortless release. Transport the waffles to a plate, add butter and maple syrup or fresh berries and whipped cream, and enjoy. Other highlights include a chrome-plated handle, a stainless-steel top cover with an embossed Cuisinart logo, a locking lid, cord storage under the base, and the ability to stand the unit on end for convenient storing when not in use. I've owned three or four waffle makers and none of them compare to the quality of this gem from Cuisinart. If you're picky about waffles--and why shouldn't you be?--then spend a little extra on this model and get effortless results. Here's what makes this a GREAT wafflemaker:
1) An accurate thermostat--no surprises when you open the lid
2) A consistent heating surface--avoid hot spots or undercooked waffles
3) A variable timer--essential if you have more than one waffle color preference in the family
4) Smart design--it stores on its side, taking up a LOT less space in your cupboard
5) Easy to clean exterior--cleans up with a damp paper towel
6) Dependable non-stick finish--unlike cheap waffle makers, the nonstick finish on this model does not wear out
7) Cool-touch lid--never burn your hand on a waffle maker again
I am genuinely thrilled with my Cuisinart waffle maker and I believe it's an absolute bargain. If you're used to spending big bucks on store-bought waffles--or if you have a cheap, junky waffle maker at home--treat yourself to this nice little unit. It's a low-cost luxury. Plus, you'll have a fun time making waffles (and impressing your family and friends!). Bon appetit!

I have had this waffle maker for a little over a year so it is now out of warranty. It just stopped heating up last weekend. After some online research I found out what goes wrong. When I plug mine in the orange light turns on and you can hear the relay click but it does not get hot. If you are experiencing this problem and you are out of warranty please don't throw out your waffle maker. It can be fixed and the part is only $1.50. The part you need is a thermal fuse and it can be found under the round stainless cover of the lower griddle. It is a 250v 240 degree celsius thermal fuse. It is covered by a white silicon tube. Apparently this thermal fuse overheats and blows and power no longer gets to the burners. I have replaced the fuse and my waffle maker works again. This is a really great product but they either have the wrong size fuse in the unit or it was defective. Mine blew when I made a batch of waffles, turned off the unit and then turned it back on to make a second batch. It never heated back up. I kept my temperature control at 3.5. I hope this helps all you waffltiers out there. Also, the golden waffle mix is the best and you need to buy an isi brand whip cream dispenser. You add two pints of heavy whipping cream and three table spoons of powdered sugar and have the best whip cream for those tasty waffles. If you have questions leave me a comment and I will check back.

We have a big family and wanted a waffle maker. We wanted a Big Big waffle maker. Mom does not want to make any child wait for their waffles. Unfortunately, the seemingly biggest waffle makers had review that said they cooked un-evenly (because of their square shape) and were hard to clean if they spilled.
We settled for this medium large waffle iron and were very happy. It cooks large waffles so fast, we can cook waffles faster than three children can eat them and actually have left-overs to freeze. Two waffles are enough even for the most ravenous child. The cooking is very even and it is really nice to have both the controls for darkness and for texture. Waffles do cook a little more slowly if the control is set to even texture, but we prefer the crunchy outside texture setting better anyway.
The iron is easy to use, cleans up well, directs spills away from the controls, and heats up quickly. Seems sturdy, but let us use it a year or two to see how it wears with time.
The waffles freeze and recook well, though we suggest using wax paper between them in large stacks. No more Eggos.

Perfect for waffle lovers, this countertop appliance bakes five heart-shaped waffles in as little as 90 seconds. Simply pour in the batter, lower the lid, and it takes care of the rest, with no need to flip--both sides cook at the same time for even browning. In addition, the waffle maker's Quad baking system makes it possible to select the ideal texture and color for truly customized waffles. Using the texture select switch, choose either the fast-bake mode for waffles that are crispy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside or the deep-bake mode for waffles with a more uniform texture. Its unique "floating" top plate helps ensure uniform thickness and even baking. Because the unit delivers fast heating on the "crisp exterior/moist interior" setting and heats up quickly in between bake cycles, it's easy to prepare waffles about as fast as they can be eaten. Other highlights include a high-quality nonstick griddle surface for effortless release, an easy-to-clean overflow channel, a "waffle ready" beeper, "baking" and "ready" indicator lights, built-in cord storage, and the option to store the unit in a space-saving, upright position. I've had this waffle maker for several years and it makes THE BEST waffles! They are crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth moist on the inside. It also is great for people who don't have a lot of space in their kitchen. It stands upright for storage. Also, what makes this waffle maker rate above others is the fact that it is VERY easy to clean! Other waffle irons can be hard to clean because the batter will ooze out and into little hard to reach spots and then you have to wait for it to cool and try to wipe it out somehow. I've owned other waffle makers before that did this. There's still dried out, old batter from places that were impossible to clean out! The Proctor Silex one does not have this problem. I practically don't even have to clean it! After I'm done, I'll wipe it gently with a paper towel, and that's about it! This combined with the fact that the Proctor Silex waffle maker also makes better waffles than other brands makes this the best one on the market.

This waffle iron makes beautiful, fluffy waffles. I had a certain waffle iron from a company beginning with T that makes great toasters, but mediocre waffle irons. I didn't realize how bad it was till a friend of mine made some waffles with that popular eighty dollar waffle maker. I almost cried! They were so good, but I knew I could never afford it! So I decided to try this one based on the good reviews. I'm ecstatic that I did.
First, this machine is quick compared to my other waffle iron. Waffles using a basic recipe are done in less than 3.5 minutes.
Second, the timer is a great idea. Relying on the "steam stoppage" method cooks the waffles too long for some recipes. The beeping when the waffles are done is just enough to bring your attention away from the bacon. Do NOT be foolish enough to leave the room when you have a waffle iron plugged in, for goodness sake!
Third, cleaning is super-easy and storage is a breeze. I love that it folds and locks in an upright position. It fits right in my tiny, overcrowded kitchen.
Last, the waffles are wonderful. Fluffy and crisp on the outside.Buy this waffle maker. It's worth it!
