(More customer reviews)I recieved this item as a gift from my neighbors. It was a true gift because I would not have purchased something like this for myself. I eventually found many uses for this little electric grill. As mentioned in the editorial review above, this grill is useful for batter based foods as well as for making sandwiches. Because we prefer hot cake, I have found it very useful for making small snack cakes. Using a standard cake mix with ordinary preparation, the bottom half of the griddle can be filled with batter. The batter will expand to fill the top as it cooks. The additional batter can be refrigerated for use the next day. The same is true of corn bread, pancake mix, browny mix, etc. The best part is the fact that the cakes will cook in just a few minutes. Pre-heating takes only 3-5 mins, and cooking about 4-8 depending on what you are working with, considerable less than the time to bake in a full size oven. This unit is also a welcome addition to the arsenal when battling toddler pickyness. Small portions of various items can be quickly prepared with out heating a full size oven. The way that it seals the bread at the seems when making sandwiches makes it useful for making healthy homemade "hot pockets" for lunches, as you control the ingredients and leave the preservatives at the store. Cresent roll dough can be stretched, doubled-over and filled. Although they are somewhat atypically shaped you get perfect omlets every time, without flipping. Simply chop/shread cheese or vegies add to scrambled eggs and fill the bottom. Although this grill has an easy to clean non-stick surface, I found it useful to wipe with an oiled cloth prior to cooking, PAM or a similar product would also work well. The effort I save putting together quick healthy lunches and snacks using this device, I have transfered to planning and preparing more elaborate meals in the evening, or entertaining.

(More customer reviews)I have had this product for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. I have made chicken breast, salmon, snapper, shrimps, steak and other things using this machine and although I was very skeptical at first I am proud to say that it actually works. The food is cooked and very tasty but best of all it is finished cooking quickly. Although the included cook book varies in cooking time, I find I always have to add a minute or two extra, for certain food, but other times I can minus a minute also. For example fresh chicken is recommended as cooking time 3 minutes, however I cook mine for at least 4 minutes, and frozen burger meat is recommended at 7 minutes however I cook it for 6 minutes and it is well done. So it all depends on your microwave and you using your judgement.Although I think the world of this product, I do have some negatives to add also. Firstly, the size. This product can hold two burger meats at a time and for other foods, e.g., chicken breast and steak I would only recommend cooking one at a time, or the food will not be prepared properly. So this con is major especially if you have a big family, however I guess this can be solved if you have more than one micro grill so that you can add more food the minute you take out the prepared one.Another negative, and this is by far the worst flaw I can think of and it relates to the size as well, is that when you grill certain foods like burger meat, the oil and juices that are in the burger meat naturally are released when being cooked so when the meat is finished cooking there is juice in the grill so that when you try to take out the micro grill from the microwave, you end up with oil and juice being spilled every where on the floor etc. This happened to me before, and most recently yesterday. I had burger juice all over my floor and my counter. However, I just cleaned it up and continued cooking. After all you can't expect perfection. I just wish that the manufacturer would release a newer version and make it deeper so that spills can be prevented.Other than that, this product works. I have recommended it to my mom and my sister. My mom already bought her self one and my sister is still in the "I want to wait until I visit you to see this product in action" phase.

I make pancakes with my skillet but sometimes I would burn them and because of the walls on the skillet flipping was always a dicey thing. There were other problems as well. I suppose If I just practice I would get better but why develop skill when an cool gadget can do it for you!
Description - Fairly small clamshell unit. It has a base of sorts in the back that fits flat on your counter. To use insert batter, let cook the right amount of time. Close the clamshell and rotate unit 180 degrees. Open and pour fresh batter in on one side while the cakes finish on the other. One side has concave dimples in it while the other side had convex.
Well here is the good and the bad
The Good-
Size - The unit is flat and compact. Small enough to fit on the side of a pan drawer without taking up extra space
Works as advertized - You can make 2 pancakes up to 5 inches in diameter at a time. Seems to take about 5 minutes per set. The unit comes with a scoop for batter. DO NOT OVERFILL or its a mess. You measure the amount of batter into the concave side and wait until the middle is almost done with the big bubbles. this is important because if you close and flip too soon its a sticky mess. The pancakes look very pretty, a nice toasty brown with no dark spots. There seems to be some uneven heating (some parts are browner than others) but it tastes fine.
The Bad - The power cord is too short, maybe 2 feet? Has to be very near an outlet which may not be convenient on in your kitchen.
Slow - Pancake Unit yes, factory no. Not the best choice for mass production (especially with hungry children waiting and arguing over who gets the first cake). Not appreciably faster than the old skillet method. I think a large electric griddle would be a better choice for mass production (no lip, up to 6 small cakes going at once).
Cleaning - Cleaning is a bit unearving, electric parts getting wet. Also the base has a bad habit about getting water trapped in it.
Conclusion - I give it 3 stars, an average functional product in need of improvement. it does what it is supposed to and does it well which is better than many things I have bought. It has room for improvement. Takes a little practice to get used to (which was not what I was expecting) as different batters expand differently. Thus the perfect amount of one batter could be overflow point for another. If you want something small and compact to be different and the prospect of flippin flapjacks is just beyond you then this is the way to go. Otherwise try an electric griddle. Its more functional.

However, after making omelets in both the Omelet Plates, and the Baking Plates, I prefer the latter. I like my omelet folded, with the cheese and other fixings in the middle. With the Omelet Plates, you place the eggs and other fixings in the oval indentations. While cooking, it puffs up considerably. You then sprinkle cheese on top after it is done. It tastes fine.
I would wait until you have used the basic plates before you decide you need the Omelet Plates.

(More customer reviews)I bought this juicer mainly to juice green vegetables. As I don't like salads and find it pretty difficult to get raw vegetables in my diet, otherwise. It works great, very nice machine, well worth the money. The only thing I've found that didn't juice well all the time so far has been plums. I think, the softer the fruit, the more difficult its going to be to juice. I usually don't have problems with plums, though, I only had trouble one time. ...As far as the taste. Well, add an apple or two and you can consume even the bitterest of greens (kale, collard greens, ect). Which, of course, are the best ones for you. This was, personally, my main reason for buying it.
Anyways, if you're looking for an inexpensive, good quality, masticating style juicer for juicing vegetables...Then I would say; Look no further, this is your machine. The only other thing Ive tried with it was making an almond butter. And it does this quite well, as well. Although, you do have to add a decent amount of oil. I used walnut oil and it turned out pretty nice. Add a bit of honey to sweeten and you're set. A lot fresher than buying the jarred stuff. Plus, it gives you the option of soaking the nuts, which is said to make digestion easier. I've seen nut butters that use soaked nuts sell at VERY high prices in health food stores. So, if you're into soaking/sprouting foods, this would be a huge money saver.
My only complaint would be that its a bit time consuming. I'd say it takes at least a half an hour to wash/cut produce, juice, and clean parts. ...Perhaps even a bit longer, depending on how quick you are. The parts are very easy to clean, though, and assembly is a snap after you get used to how it all connects. All in all, I'd say its certainly worth the time spent.

(More customer reviews)Finally, a product that lives up to all its hype and doesn't end up wasting precious kitchen space like the food processors, bread machines, etc. we have bought in the past but all too often turn out to be too much of a pain to clean and assemble. I've had mine for over a year now...we live in an apartment where kitchen space is at a premium. On hot days, if I turn on the oven or stove, it heats the whole kitchen and half our place up. To top it off, I'm a vegetarian -- hubby is not. The George Foreman Champ grill is terrific -- I buy those extra-lean premade frozen hamburger patties at Safeway, and even Jim (whose specialty is cereal with milk) can get motivated enough to plug the grill in, heat it up and toss a patty, or an Italian sausage, boneless chicken breast, etc. for a quick lunch, dinner or snack. Best of all, no splatter of grease like you would get using a skillet - the grease just runs off! Besides cooking for hubby, I have also used it to make super GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES, and Gardenburgers come out great. And that non-stick surface is great -- so easy to clean! I just can't say enough good things about the George Foreman Grill. I've recommended it to countless people and even bought several for presents (my sister and brother-in-law bought about 15 of them last Christmas for relative presents!). So buy it already! It's great!

The built-in storage drawer is a great idea but the owners manual leaves something to be desired, The use directions are very limited but "Hey" they do include an eclectic recipe card collection of seven different uses/recipes, whoopee. There are a number of attachments, blades, etc but the way they lock or don't lock or how some of them attach and work is pretty sloppy, like the emulsifier egg whipper, it is loose on the spindle and when you hit the power it slams into a plastic stop which I can already see issues with broken plastic parts, hopefully there will be replacement parts in the near future because I am certain I will be in the market for them. I will say that the blender does work well but a good blender can be had for a lot less money. It was purchased for the mutiple attachments and functions and the hope to eliminate some of the electric gadgets now cluttering our counter tops and consolidate into one machine. So far I have not been impressed during usage.

The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

(More customer reviews)It works well, but it is not easy to clean. The non-stick surface wipes clean easily, but this is not the problem. The problem is that food and juices from cooking go in a crack between the cooking surface and the housing of the unit. The other night, I decided that I would take the unit apart to try to clean it. It was very dirty inside. I decided that I would try the Salto Santa Fe Quesadilla Maker and it is made the same way. The problem with both units is that whatever runs in the drip tray starts cooking before it can get in the resevoir, resulting in an overflow into the cracks where it cant be cleaned without disassembling the whole unit.

(More customer reviews)Growing up in an Asian family, we weren't about to mess around with cheap crumby rice cookers. The Zojirushi 10 cups through the years have kept me well fed for 25 years. If you treat it well (i.e. no metal on the nonstick), they'll last forever. If you don't eat rice every day or don't have a large family, this unit might be overkill. You may think about a 4 or 5 cup. You can, of course, buy this one too. My mom owns 3 rice cookers. If you ever go to an Asian food market, you'll see that practically every rice cooker comes in floral print. I don't trust a rice cooker without flowers on the side. =)

(More customer reviews)I love this waffle maker! It's like the ones our mom used, not those cheesy seeming plastic things they're making now. It's also got a lot of excellent features that make my life easier.
I'll mention right now that this is a VERY hot waffle maker. They make the plastic ones to be "cool touch". I'll trade the cool touch feature for the sturdier design of this versatile machine. I'm being careful and haven't burned myself yet. But it's something to consider if you'd like your children making waffles. My ten year old could be careful enough, but I keep my five and eight year olds away.
The waffles this machine makes are great! They freeze well too. The family is very happy. When the light goes of the unit is ready to make waffles. Pour in the batter and the light comes on again--wait for it to go off and the waffle is done (however, I usually go on instinct and sometimes pull out the waffle before the light goes off.)
The open grill feature makes wonderful pancakes and fried eggs. I have a big family and it's nice to have two pancakes cook at a shot without taking up all my stovetop! I can have bacon and eggs on the stove and the pancakes on the waffle maker. (I can also have a heart attack if I keep eating all these bacon and eggs!)
The sandwich feature is nice. I can cook two grilled cheese sandwiches at one time getting me out of the kitchen quicker. Some advice--cheese might drip out the side of the sandwich. Just keep the sandwich away from the back of the unit where the cables run in and the mess just wipes off--no problem. The sandwiches cook far more uniformly than they do in a pan on the stove. They taste great.
This unit cleans up easily and changing the grills from waffle to flat is easy. I recommend it over a lot of more costly models if you want more value for your money. This is the most versatile waffle maker I've found and all the features actually work!

I read all the reviews and noted that one person had complained of finding that his T-fal deep fryer had leaked oil all over the counter. Finding few bad reviews, we decided to buy it. Sure enough, after the fryer cooled and the oil emptied into the reservoir there was oil all over the counter. It did not take a rocket scientist to figure out the reason. When we filled it prior to turning it on, we had a gallon jug of cooking oil which we emptied into fryer. A gallon is 3.78 liters (16 cups) and the capacity of the reservoir is 3.3 liters (14 cups). We noticed when we filled it that it was slightly over the max line but did not give it a second thought. Unfortunately, when the machine cooled and the oil drained into the reservoir, the extra two cups of oil had no where to go but onto the counter. THERE IS NO FUDGE FACTOR ON THE MAX LINE, DO NOT OVERFILL IT. Any oil that is over the Max line will end up all over your counter. We learned our lesson and have not overfilled it since. After that fist incident we have used our T-fal deep fryer several times and it works perfectly. The food comes out perfect, clean up is a snap and we would never trade it for anything else.

I used a box of Krusteaz waffle mix and followed the directions on the box, set the waffle maker on 3, sprayed some PAM on the waffle maker, pour 1/2 cup of waffle batter in each slot and when it beeped I opened to find a big Belgian waffle slices cooked to perfection! There was no issue with spill overs, the color was a nice golden brown and it was fluffy, had a nice crisp but still soft, topped with fresh strawberries, syrup and whipped cream and we've got the best Belgian waffles right at home! It came right off the machine with no sticking or mess and the clean up was nothing as I only had to wipe it down with a paper towel after it cooled down. I absolutely love this waffle maker and would recommend to anyone. The unit did not get too hot to handle and the handle stayed nice and cool. It was so fun cooking up the waffles that before I knew it I went through a whole box! The great thing is you can make these ahead, freeze them and when you want a waffle just heat up in a toaster. No more frozen Eggo Waffles for me as I now have fresh homemade waffles right at my fingers anytime I feel like it. And the money I am saving because Eggo Waffles can get pretty expensive!

Capresso Infinity Conical Burr Grinders Review

(More customer reviews)I've been through a couple of burr grinders - the Gaggia MM and a Melitta, so when it came time to buy a new one, I knew what I didn't want - a noisy, dusty grinder that wears out quickly. I've pretty much found it with the Capresso Infinity.
I did some reading, and depending on what you need, it's amazing how much you can spend for a burr grinder - they range up to $400 and beyond. The main features I was interested in, though, were available in the sub-$200 range. For my pump espresso machine, these features included:
>consistent, even grind - for better tasting coffee
>"reduction" gearing - where the grinder motor speed is slowed down without loosing grinding torque, resulting in less static and dust
>less noise - it's nice to have conversations while making coffee
>durable, long lasting quality - I wanted to keep my third grinder for longer than a year.
The Capresso Infinity has delivered on the first three points, and looks good regarding durability. It has commercial grade grinders, which produce an even, consistent grind. With the reduction gearing, it grinds with a nice, even drone - more like a diesel truck than a jet plane taking off. And the dust that used to fly everywhere is gone - the slower speed has virtually eliminated the static. I've found it easy to use as well - one twist dial that works like the old dial timers - twist to the time setting you want, and it grinds until the time expires.
NOTE - I did read where one person had a problem with the timer where he couldn't turn it off. That may be because he tried to turn it backwards, which is not what the directions recommend. To stop grinding, you turn the bean hopper to the "no grind" mode; otherwise, you can break the switch.
Overall, I am pleased with the purchase. The only real adjustment has been figuring out the proper grind level again. The "extra fine" settings will create a fine powder that is too fine for my machine. However, once I switched to the "fine" setting, it has worked great. The amazing extra benefit is how much better the coffee tastes - the fine, even grind makes for maximum flavor extraction. So matter what grinder you buy, go for one that grinds more evenly - you'll enjoy your coffee even more. For the price, I didn't find one that had the combination of features (and less noise and dust!) found in the Capresso Infinity.
