(More customer reviews)My Mother and Her Sister's (all 7 of them) Owned One of These For Year and years and years...Comes with a 10 wear Warranty (Can't Beat That) but you'll never even need that, actually it should be a Life Time because that is how long these last, your lifetime, your kid's life time and theirs kid's lifetime too, maybe longer!
You Might End Up as we many of us do, considering it to be a Family Heirloom.
I grew up with the Palmer's. They are definitely made to last, for a "just in case",they come with a 10 year guarantee. They don't have the non stick coating but a Pizzelle Make doesn't need to be non stick,a pizzelle is made with so much butter I really doubt if they'd stick to any maker.So actaully this maker is more like the cast iron skillet of Pizzelle Makers.
The Palmer's are more $$ but in terms of wear and quality made well worth it.
I can vouch for that because I used to live not to far (1/2 mile) from where they are made. They are just a small Italian family owned machine/metal shop set up in RD West Newton,PA USA and all their products are made by hand with pride and not mass produced in China or where ever.
I received a Villawear as a gift and don't know much about the company but I do know that it broke after having it for 3 years and that's it..the warranty is for 1 year.
I'm going back to the Palmers seeing that this will make the 3rd Pizzelle maker I've had in the last 5 years.
My Mom's Palmer was still in working condition when she passed and it was the only one she ever owned in her 50 years of marriage. My sister has it now and it's still making the best Pizzelles ever. One of my Cousin's have their Mom's too. They seriously do become family Heirlooms in a Pizzelle Family, making the extra $15 more than worth it!
I am finally ready to buy my Family heirloom!
I am usually very price conscience, but in this case, and having gone through a few others The extra $15 I pay will be worth it because I know (1) you get what you pay for and in this case it's really true (2) it's more like inversting into a Family Heirloom and that one day one of my Girls or all 4 of them or maybe my Grand Daughter will be making Pizzelles or Cannoli with it well after I'm gone! (3) it's one of those things you live on through...truthfully the Palmer's will be there to bring my spirit back through the Palmer Pizzelle maker and my Love for Family & making Pizzelles at every Holiday and Wedding down the Line!
I'm going to go with the one that makes 3 at a time, not sure if it will be this one or the 3 round ones! But whichever one we decide to go with.....

(More customer reviews)It's been six months since I purchased these lunch bags for my children. These bags are wonderful. They clean up easily. The construction is solid. I even let my boys write their names on them with permanent marker.
Over the past few months, I have watched these bags get tossed into the air, smacked against walls, spun on fingers and used as weapons. They are still solid.

The only down side is that you have to be diligent in getting the bag back from school each day. I recommend having a backup option if you use after school daycare.

(More customer reviews)This product is made with an extremely high quality fabric. Gorgeous color selection. Washable and has a wonderful feel to it. I own the entire ensemble and just love it. Homesource International products are only sold in high end boutiques, so when you can find overruns or sale priced items on line, it's a bonus.
The bamboo sheets are fabulous as well... I haven't put anything else on my bed since I first tried them in 2007. Fabulous feel, texture, strength, and added antibacterial feature... You just can't beat it!!

Vitamix 1700 Turbo Blend 4500 Countertop Blender with 2+ HP Motor Review

(More customer reviews)Vitamix makes excellent products. I have owned this one for about 7 or 8 years and just purchased a Blendtec a few months ago, as well.
Both are great blenders. Comparison of differences:
1) Motor - Blendtec has a more powerful motor. Noticeably more powerful - 3 HP vs 2 HP.
2) Construction - Blendtec is not as substantial in construction. Vitamix feels more heavy-duty, and is heavier. Vitamix will not rock and shake as much. Both are made in the USA with BPA-free containers.
3) Noise level - I don't notice that much difference. Maybe Blendtec is a bit louder, but it doesn't bother me.
4) Controls - There are more controls on the Blendtec - slower/faster, pulse, and preprogrammed selections. For example: Smoothies is one of the preprogrammed selections. So this means the Blendtec will alter its speed on its own in order to make sure items get blended that might otherwise stay bouncing around on top. It is optimized for each setting. You can do the same thing manually with the Vitamix with the spin dial that controls speed. Physically the Vitamix manually spin dial is easier to use. The Blendtec has a digital counter to tell you how many times you have used it.
5) Warranty - the Vitamix warranty is longer - 7 years on ALL parts that can be extended to 10 for an extra cost. Blendtec is normally only 3, not including the containers. This can be extended to 7 at no extra cost if purchased at Costco. The Vitamix had to have its motor replaced once. They were happy to do it and paid for shipping BOTH ways. Customer service was excellent. I can't evaluate this yet for the Blendtec since I haven't had it long enough, but the warranty does not cover shipping both ways.
6) Height - the Blendtec is shorter and fits easily under the cabinets in the kitchen. The Vitamix, at 20.5 inches, does not.
7) Containers - Both are BPA-free. The design of the Blendtec containers, while less substantial, is better. Wider instead of taller, they are easier to clean and easier to get food out of. Plus, this design lends itself to better performance.
8) Performance - the Blendtec will spin and pulverize thicker food even when the Vitamix will sit there and spin with nothing moving on top. The Vitamix requires a bit more work in those cases. If the liquid is thinner, the Vitamix does not do this and spins fine. The Blendtec 4 qt 4 inch blade container is better in this regard even than the 3 qt 3 inch blade container. I don't have to push the food down much at all with the Blendtec. However, with the bit of extra effort, the Vitamix will end up blending just as well as the Blendtec.
9) Splashing - the Blendtec definitely splashes food more in the container than the Vitamix. Be sure to keep that lid on the Blendtec.
10) Guarantee - The Vitamix accepts a return within 30 days and pay for your shipping back:

(More customer reviews)I love this roaster. The coolest feature is the catalytic converter that virtually eliminates smoke. I have had small roasters that only roasted 1/3 of what this one roasted and gave off way more smoke. The memory that remembers your last roast is great and the ability to interrupt the roast at any time and begin the cool down is very helpful. If, there is a downside, it's that it seems to have a little bit of a difficult time collecting all the chaff. Some of the chaff sticks to glass at the top of the chamber between the beans and the collector and when you empty the coffee, you inevitably get some chaff in your roast.

Microplane 34007 Cut-Resistant Glove Review

(More customer reviews)I too bought this glove to use with my mandoline slicer, but now that I have it I use it with my microplane and other food graters as well. I thought it might be a bit cumbersome, but it's not at all. I think it's important to remember that this glove is cut RESISTANT, not cut proof.
The glove fits my hand very well, but I can see that it might be too small for others. I normally wear a woman's size small glove. This microplane glove is quite flexible though, and I'm certain it would easily fit a woman's size medium or even large. One man's review here indicates he struggled but managed to get it on his bigger hand. I agree there should be one or two other size options, and this is the only reason I didn't give this a 5-star rating.
It goes without saying that the glove will need cleaning after using it to hold food against a slicer or grater. It is machine washable, but not machine dryable. Here's what I do to clean the glove in between machines washings ==> with the glove still on my hand, I squeeze some liquid soap onto the fingertips of the glove and then wash it under warm running water with the help of a small kitchen cleaning brush. With the glove still on my hand, I give it a rinse, blot most of the water off with a hand towel, then let it air dry. I've had no problem with lingering odors using this or the machine method of washing.

Best Manufacturers Reusable Bread Storage Bag Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this item based on a review at cooksillustrated-dot-com (search for keyword "retrogradation" if you want to know more). Cooksillustrated thought this product was the best of the lot they tested and said it'd keep homemade bread crusts crisp and the loaf fresh for up to three days. The claim that crusts would stay crisp especially interested me.
The bag doesn't work miracles and disappointingly, doesn't keep crusts crisp. Compared to leaving my homemade or store-bought artisanal bread in a leaky plastic box, there was a small but definite improvement in quality on day one after baking/purchasing, but the crusts are definitely not crisp. By day three (just as the cooks illustrated article says) you need to freeze the bread and reheat it.
It's somewhat hard to clean b/c there are all sorts of folds in which crumbs can be trapped. You're supposed to be able to put it in the washing machine or dishwasher. Mine survived the washing machine (in a lingerie bag), but the moisture trapped between the plastic bag and the cloth bag is hard to get rid of (hair dryer time).
If your family is like mine, polishing off your homemade bread within a day or two of baking, this bag will help maintain freshness. I give it 3.5 stars for performance (on day one after baking, 4 stars for freshness, but 0 on the crisp crust promise) and 2 stars for being wildly overpriced (see my image in the customer image gallery).
