It cleans fast, unlike my Oster, and it is powerful considering its size. I use it daily, it has a small footprint on the counter, and it blends what you need for one person in the serving cup. I also use the serving cups and lids even when I haven't used the blender. They are very convenient tumblers.

I was very impressed and wanted to but it but I was low on cash so I waited till I had the money and bought the professional version. It comes with a wonderful DVD and the receipe book is just out of this world. This mixer does everything but cook a steak on the BBQ. The DVD explains all the things it can do like make soup and bread dough. I thought I was just going to make fresh fruit with wheat germ, honey and soy protein drinks. I was totally wrong. And I'm glad I am because it is worth every penny. Make sure you get the DVD and book with any model you choose it is worth it. I love mine and I'm sure you will too. I use it every day and clean up takes seconds.

(More customer reviews)We have owned several blenders, some average and some 'professional.' None come close to power of this one. First, you can tell by the weight of it that it is well built. Metal construction and very powerful. I put whole ice cubes in the blender and turned it on. (Only one speed with a pulse on that same speed). The ice turned to sluce before I could blink. I could not believe how fast it blended the ice. It is absolutely amazing. If you are looking for sheer power for making frostys or other ice crushing capabilities, this is the one. I would have given it 10 stars if I was able. You can not go wrong with this powerhouse!

(More customer reviews)I have had my Vitamix 5200 for about 2 months now. I literally use it several times a day and I could not imagine life without it now. My family has recently begun a journey to eating "raw" foods and the vitamix is a priceless tool in this endeavor. My family starts everyday with a fruit smoothie for breakfast (blended strawberries, blueberries, pinapple and spinach with pure water and ice). The vitamix breaks down everything, mixes it well and blends the most delicious tasting breakfast you ever wanted. Talk about instant energy! Lunch is often a green smoothie, blended in the Vitamix. I have used the dry container to crack wheat berries for bread (not 100% raw yet) and also made homemade nut butters using almonds, walnuts, and pecans. I also make a homemade applesauce using three cored apple (different types produce different tastes so experiment to find your favorite, strawberries, blueberries or even pears). The apples do not even need to be peeled or cored. I do core mine because I don't like seeds, but I leave all the greens from the strawberries on and simply blend then into the sauce.

The vitamix is definitely expensive, and I know that times are tough now, but I think that you can't put a price on your family's health. Since my family has started eating this way, we have lost weight, my daughter's skin is clearing up and we have so much more energy to accomplish great things during our day. You cannot put a price on that! I highly recommend this machine to anyone that wants the best for their family.
Oh and yes prior to buying the Vitamix, I burned up two blenders. Vitamix has a seven year warranty on their product, they are serious about their products. I love mine and you will too!

Vita-Mix 1320 Professional Series, Platinum Review

(More customer reviews)My wife and I have two Vita-Mix blenders. We bought one at a fair 6 years ago, and picked up a new-in-the-box commercial model at an auction about 3 years ago. We have used both heavily. Vita-Mix blenders are tall (too tall to fit under typical kitchen cabinets), heavy, loud, and very, very effective. Like most, we've burned through any number of typical home blenders. The Vita-Mix blenders last.
Customer service is superb. We've had exactly one problem - the variable speed dial got really difficult to turn. With about two weeks go to on the original 5-year warranty (warranties have changed since - they're longer now), Vita-Mix fixed the base, including paying shipping both ways, and also told us to send along the container so they could make sure it was in good shape - and then replaced the blade for us.
Vita-Mix blenders come with a tamper, and a lid designed to take the tamper. Most of the time you don't need it. It comes in handy for very thick, very cold blends, like thick smoothies, ice cream, etc. You will absolutely, positively need to have a tamper - or stop and use a scraper - with ANY blender, no matter how powerful, the shape of the container, or configuration of the blades. "Tamper" is actually something of a misnomer. While it is used to tamp at times, it actually changes the mixing dynamics by effectively taking up part of the volume at the center of the container, eliminating cavitation in mixes where that's helpful.
The Vita-Mix base units are heavy because they use heavy-duty motors. Don't be taken in by competing companies' horsepower claims with lighter-duty motors with half the weight. The competitors hit higher horsepower ratings by running their motors at higher speeds. All blender motors run fast, of course, and bumping up the horsepower by pulling more amps this way can be appropriate for some motor applications, but you can't consider one factor in a vacuum. The Vita-Mix motors are heavy, and heavy motors last longer by using heavier cores and windings, both of which make the motor stand up longer to heavy use and heat without breaking down. Vita-Mix containers also employ a heavy flywheel below the blades. That, in conjunction with the heavier-duty motor, is what gives you longevity, and the ability to chop heavy stuff for years. If you look at the motor-to-container connector, you will also see that the Vita-Mix uses a larger diameter connector - less stress, more life, and lower possibility of stripping.
I do wish they were quieter, but the competitors are in the same ballpark, claims to the contrary notwithstanding. The height can be dealt with by simply storing the container away from the base (which we leave on the countertop). My only real complaint is the cost of extra containers. I'd love one of the 32oz containers, but think $100-$120 (typical price at a fair)is too much.

(More customer reviews)My wife and I got a blender as a wedding gift, 3 months later, it was broken. So we bought another blender for $50 and a year later (after minimal use) it was broken. Then I worked at a company that gave you "reward points" for doing good work...it was an employee incentive program. After two years of accruing points, I got this Vita-Mix. Nothing compares to it. Smoothies are smooth. It makes excellent margaritas, grasshoppers, and daiquiris. I use the blender at least every other day. We got rid of our food processor and juicer and coffee grinder, because this blender does all those things perfectly. It's amazing at chopping up onions too. I cannot say enough good things about this blender. It is worth the money, because you know this blender will last forever. I've never had any problem with it.
It is expensive, and without the employee incentive program, I would never have owned one. But if this one ever breaks, getting a new one will be something I budget for.

(More customer reviews)OK, I was looking for a professional blender to make "killer margaritas", but I found this one for 30 bucks. It had Maragrita in it's name, so I was curious - how can an inexpensive blender make a good margarita?
It arrived, it's all plastic - but that's ok, hopefully it won't break :)
It works! it takes a little practice, and time, with the pulse button to break the ice cubes - but the results are incredible!!
The margarita came out like a "Chili's Margarita" - my favorite! and you can put some more tequila in it to make it a better margarita!
Overall, it's a little wimpy, has a hard time breaking ice cubes, but the margarita that it makes is perfect! - minus a couple ice cubes that didn't break-up. But if you like the margaritas that come out of the machine at "Chili's Restaraunt", this unit will make one just like it.

Breville 800BLXL Die-Cast Hemisphere 2-Speed Blender with 67-Ounce Polycarbonate Jar Review

(More customer reviews)After reading the previous reviews, I was a bit leery of buying this blender. I wanted the best, period. First, this is in my opinion the best looking and I leave it on my counter top, replacing a Kitchen Aid which I gave to my sister.
The first thing I did was to fill the jug with ice to the top. I pushed the ice button and within a few minutes, I had finely grated snow with no large chunks at all. It would have been a perfect snow cone. I went on to put in Strawberries, soft tofu, Yogurt, Soy vanilla ice cream, honey and a little non fat milk on top of the shaved ice. It made one of the best smoothies I have ever had. I have had numerous complements from my wife and neighbors on the smoothies this produces.
I also put in a whole large sweet onion quartered and three cups of large skinned tomatoes, some mushrooms, corn and whole garlic cloves, along with some essential seasoning and made a perfect tomato soup. The consistency was creamy and consistently smooth throughout. No chunks of any of the ingredients, including the corn kernels or garlic cloves.It was wonderful.
I have not had this very long. About two weeks now, but it has gotten a lot of use in that time. I can not speak to the long term reliability of the product, but I have had other Breville products and they are consistently top drawer. The one thing I do think that Breville might have misjudged is that the jar is polycarbonate, a fancy word for plastic. It does seem to be a very sturdy jar and perhaps, there is a certain logic to it. When I transport a full jug of soup from the blender to a bowl or what ever, the weight is quite manageable. Not really an issue for me, but I could see it for others, especially elderly or those with physical limitations. The fit of the blade to the base and jar is clean and the design seems to be very well thought out. There is a plastic wrench supplied in the event the blade base is stuck on the jar, but I have not needed it yet for cleaning and there have been no leaks even after storing liquids in the jar for a period with just hand tightening.
It is only a two speed but in doing some research it seems that most multi button blenders have a low speed and 12 high speeds which are the same. This is done for the button loving public who think more is better. The 1000 watts is not really a dependable measure of the power of the motor since it really only tells you the power consumption of the motor and not the output. It seems to have more than enough power for the toughest jobs however and is heavy enough not to move if I do walk away from it to get an ingredient to place in the top opening while it is running.
Breville seems to have come up with a nice design of the blades and bottom of the container since it moves the material from the top to the bottom and vice versa for even cutting quite well on it's own and the hole in the top makes it easy to insert new ingredients with the motor running. I will say that this blender does everything I ask of it and better than my high end Kitchen Aid Blender which left small chunks of things like ice and garlic or corn kernels, etc.
If I have a problem with the motor breaking down as the others had, ( which based on my other Breville appliances, I doubt will be a problem), I will come back and comment on it, but for now, this is the nicest blender I have ever owned and I highly recommend it. In my opinion well worth the extra money.

(More customer reviews)I bought this icy machine about three years ago, and I absolutely loved it. I liked the look, and it shaved ice very well. I paid around 50 to 60 for this product. After making approximately 50 snow cones in it though, it broke. The gears just kept grinding, but it would not shave ice anymore. I figured the blades had gotten dull. Therefore, I went out and bought a 30 dollar sharpening kit from a local hardware store. I sharpened the blades where they would cut the hair off of my arm like a razor. Still, it would not work. Therefore, I paid about a dollar per cup of shaved ice. I would have been better off buying my slushies at the local convenience store after I factored in the cost of ice and flavoring. It just is not worth the price for as little amount of time as it last.

Euro-Pro Slushie Maker Review

(More customer reviews)O.K. Nobody out there could have been rooting for this little machine more than me. My husband bought this for me for Christmas (2005). I was thrilled...until we tried to use the thing. First of all, forget any of the recipies in the book. On that day we tried the very first one. All of a sudden, the machine started jumping around and making a loud clicking noise. We stopped it and looked and there was ice frozen all around the outside of the container. We melted that off and tried again. Same thing. Now, 4 months later, we have managed to get the machine to actually make slushies (within 30 minutes) only about 30% of the time. This machine will only make them with very high sugar solutions...even pop takes awhile. (We've been successful at using Kool-Aid with only about 3/4 as much water as it calls for.) The instructions say to keep adding ice/salt until it gets about an inch from the top. NO! We have found through trial and error that any ice/salt more than 1/2 way up the container will cause this finnicky machie to freeze up and stop. The slushies are of a good consistency when they actually work, but our whole family of 6 agrees that this is a better idea than actual product. Takes A LONG time and 32 oz of fluid will only make slushies for 1-2 people unless you give them out in tiny paper cups. Not good for parties, etc. like it says on the box. Kids would be crying all over. Also, the machine is VERY loud. Hard to have a conversation and you need to constantly check it and add tiny bits of ice. A real pain. The pour spout is nice, and it is easy to clean, but the frustration level is so high on this machine. Following their little instruction book to the letter just won't work. Like I said, everyone in our house has tried it, and it is just LOUD and FRUSTRATING...especially since when you crave a slushie, you CRAVE a slushie and want it then...not maybe, if you are lucky, in 30 minutes or so. Machine needs improvements...I'd spend my money on a better machine. Sad to say, but only 2 stars.

(More customer reviews)I love using the Magic Bullet for the reasons listed on this site - mainly convenience of use and cleanup. Here is the catch, however. My first Magic Bullet lasted about 6 months with daily usage. I thought that the short lifespan was a fluke, so I bought another Magic Bullet. The second one lasted about two months with daily usage. Daily usage was making smoothies and grinding cheese, ice, nuts - nothing unusual, according to the sales pitch.
Believe it or not, I'm looking to buy a third Magic Bullet because of the convenience (it literally cleans up in seconds vs. a blender because the blade is easier to get at), but now I know that I'm only going to have it for a short time.

(More customer reviews)This is a powerful blender, and is comparable to the VitaMix. I love the square design of the container, because it is easy to clean - way easier to clean than the VitaMix, and the blade at the bottom is not sharp, so I don't nick myself when cleaning the bottom of the blender. It is also much easier to scrape the blended goodness out of the bottom of the blender. But I don't like the lid design. The lid is flat and sits flush against the top of the blender. It gets splattered from the force of the blended ingredients. Makes a mess when you open it. This is a real problem when blending in between adding ingredients. Also, the plunger sometimes IS needed - even with a BlendTec, although Blendtec says it is not needed because of the variable speeds on its blender settings. There are times when I wish I had the plunger to just push things down while the blender is on. Instead, I have to take the lid off, which is dripping all over with blended goo, thus making a mess, so I can stir the ingredients because there is no plunger to push the food down into the blades like the VitaMix.
I have owned a Vitamix for 15 years, and it has proven to be a workhorse. The Blendtec seems to be just as strong, and I welcome it to my kitchen. It seems to do an even better job of grinding grains than the Vitamix. No "dry" container is needed. You just use the same container for both wet and dry ingredients. You don't really need a grain mill if you have the Blendtec, as it really does a very good job of blending grains and dry beans very quickly. It also makes nut butters almost instantly.
Overall, the Blendtec is extremely powerful, and meets my needs for what I use it for - I do daily green smoothies. I just wish it had a different lid, and a plunger.

The blender worked great and since our friends kept talking about how good it looked, I figured I'd give it a good review. The blender jar is huge (I think it's 1.5 liters) - it's perfect for parties. It also has some rubber feet to keep it from shaking and bouncing around. We made a ton of frozen drinks and it handled ice cubes without any problems. I'm using it for my daily smoothies too.

(More customer reviews)For the most part, anything that is advertised on those infomercials over-promises or fails to deliver. I ordered a Magic Bullet anyway because it seemed to be just the sort of kitchen appliance that I needed...small, safe and useful. I crossed my fingers and ordered one. When the package arrived, it was packed nicely in a large case containing all the parts and accessories as advertised; mixing cups, drinking/mixing mugs, small blender attachment, juicer attachment, shaker cups, two receipe books, an instruction manual, blades and motor base. Basically, the Magic Bullet is a small compact blender that is turned on it's head. Instead of putting items from the top and blending/chopping them, you put the contents in a holding cup and twist on the cap/blade. This whole unit is then placed upside down on the base and you turn it on. After the contents are processed, you take the unit off the base and twist off the blade/cap. A great and ingenious idea. But the big question is, does it work as advertised? The surprising answer is yes.
I've had this unit for about a month and a half now and am thoroughly surprised at how nice it works. I have made smoothies that not only rival the local juice bars, but the product tastes better and is a snap to make. I have also made personal servings of soup and vegatable smoothies. Making a tuna-egg-mayo spread was blended very nicely and the whole family ate it up in a couple of days. To get this unit to work as it was intended has to do with reading the manual. It states very clearly that there are certain ways to load your mixing cup. In cases where things do not get blended or are stuck at the top of the cup, the instructions tell you to take the blending cup off and to tap it a few times to get all the contents to the bottom. There is no problem in overheating *if you read the manual*. About 90% of the jobs can be done in about 10 seconds or less by using the pulse method. If you continuously blend/chop and leave it on like a regular blender, it will overheat and possibly break the unit. Nothing needs to be processed for more than 30 seconds so this is a moot point. Clean-up is one of the best features of this appliance. Just run the mixing cups and blades under water with a little soap, and you are done. This unit is so easy to use that our family uses it on a daily basis.
As far as the cost is concerned, it may seem a little on the steep end, but the Magic Bullet pays for itself in no time at all. It has many useful features which allow you to use it as a coffee grinder, a chopper, a blender, a smoothie maker, a sandwich spread maker, soup mixer, etc. I have never used a small kitchen appliance as much as I have used the Magic Bullet. The big blender made by -------, which has been sitting on the shelf for many years is now officially retired.
A few minutes of your time in reading the manual will help you dodge any bullets in using the Magic Bullet.
