(More customer reviews)Not much to it - glass carafe, plastic ice funnel insert, plastic drip diffuser, drip cone (and a snap-in carafe lid) - oomes with 10 sample cone filters.
The diffuser lets the dripping coffee cool a bit before hitting the ice below, resulting in much less melting than if you just poured hot coffee over ice. Obviously more dilution than if you let the coffee cool separately, but this not only saves that step, but accomplishes a strong iced brew (up to 600ml) in the amount of time it takes to drop through 2 cone-fuls of hot water (we use a hot water pot - using the same grounds for the 2nd fill). About 2-3 mins per carafe.
Directions are all in Japanese - but you pour a little hot water over the dry grounds, let it sit for about 30 seconds until they puff-up a bit, then pour hot water in a spiral over the grounds until the cone is full. Repeat the hot water fill once and you have a 0.5 liter of pre-cooled iced coffee.
There's also simple folding instructions to use Melitta (flat-bottom) cone filters too.
It's the diffuser design that makes this practical, and efficient. And no waiting to keep making another carafe.

(More customer reviews)This has to be one of the worst coffee makers that I have ever used. The problems that I found were also stated by other people as well. I wish that I could give it less than one star. The problems that I found are as follows:
1. Attempting to fill water storage area for first time turned into a mess when I was focused on filling it up while being half asleep. Found that water was spilling out of the back from holes put there in manufacturing process. Idiotic design.
2. Unit leaks water from somewhere onto counter. Mystery leak that others complained about as well.
3. Carafe is the worst that I have had the misfortune of dealing with. Try to pour a cup of coffee & end up leaking on the counter, floor, etc. Whoever designed the carafe should be flogged or at least ridiculed by coworkers.
4. Unit overall is a mess to deal with. Everything about it is messy. The stupid swivel water dispenser is more trouble than it is worth.DON'T waster your money on this garbage. Find another model or different brand.

(More customer reviews)I love the Keurig K-cup coffees. I had an "elite" brewer in my old apartment. I got a mini for my new apartment because I didn't want to pay the price for the more advanced "elite" brewer. I'm finding the mini OK, but it's not nearly as good as the "elite" one. This machine can only handle one cup at a time. You have to refill it with water every time you want a new cup. There are no settings to automatically set the brewer to make a certain sized cup. Also, it takes a while to heat the water. It's certainly not a bad machine, but it's probably not worth saving $20-30 bucks by getting this one if you drink a lot of coffee.

(More customer reviews)I have been using Mr. Coffee coffeemakers for years, and although they have generally been reliable and customer service has been helpful when needed, I found myself with a new kitchen arrangement and needed a coffeemaker that allows one to put the coffee grounds and the water in from the side, rather than lifting a lid from front to back, as almost all coffeemakers do. This maker has a lid on the left for the coffee and another one on the right for the water. I find it to be a perfect arrangement. There is also a control to change the quality of the coffee from regular to stronger and the like, but for the most part it just makes the same good coffee Mr. Coffee always produces. At the same time, although one can grow weary of the fact that Mr. Coffee seems to invent a new carafe for every maker, this new one, with a plastic top, seems to eliminate the problems of dripping that I've had so often with Mr. Coffee products in the past: it pours cleanly every time. The touchscreen business is nice looking and fancy, but that is secondary to me. If anything, I worry most about the touchscreen holding up over time. But the maker looks good, it brews fine coffee, it has side openings for the coffee grounds and water, and the carafe seems finally to have solved the problems with dripping that also seemed to accompany earlier products. It's a bit more expensive than most Mr. Coffee products, but it's well worth it.

(More customer reviews)I love coffee! Coffee, coffee & more coffee! For as long as I can remember, I have owned the basic, easy-to-use, bell and whistle-less Mr. Coffee Machine.
Early one morning, I was horrified to discover that the heating elment on my then current machine had committed suicide the night before. It was an ugly morning of bumping into walls and uttering quite a few ugly little sentences. Avid coffee drinkers will understand.
So I head over to the local "Linnens-and-Beyond" type place,(what exactly is the "beyond" part anyway?)and I found it. The basic, black, 12 cup, on/off, timer if I should ever decide to use it, under $30.00 Mr coffee. Yay! Oh the rejoicing!!
Until I got it out of the box. The horror! They had changed the design of my beloved basic machine!
It used to be that just the back water chamber lid opened. Now the whole top of the machine is lidded. The problem? I have to pull the machine all the way to the edge of the counter to pour the water in. Then I have to push the whole thing back after it is full. Splash!! Ok not so big a problem, right?
Wrong!! And now for the idiots of the world, they have introduced two sunflower seed sized holes on the back wall of the water chamber. I suppose this is so he chamber is not over-filled. Great. So any water that I may overpour goes all over the counter. Or when I push the machine back into place, the splashing water in the chamber comes out - you guessed it, all over the counter. Hey guys, thanks. What a brilliant idea.
Oh, did I mention that the pot itself is it's own little nightmare and a half. This pot spills, spills, spills and spills some more. When filling the chamber, it dribbles. When I am pouring a cup, it dribbles all over, you guessed it, my counter. Gee, I sure am getting sick of wiping up the counter.
Open up the top of this machine and you will find the filter basket which has above it, a pivoting water arm. Ths arm must be moved anytime the filter is to be removed or replaced. Did I mention I wanted basic? Why am I delaing with moving parts at 5am? Oh one more flaw with this design. Remember our dribbling special-ed pot? Well if any water you are pouring into the chamber hits the axis point of the pivoting arm (ooh fancy!), said water will dribble instantaneously onto the heating element below (where the pot sits). Yay! More to wipe up!
Ok, so the bottom line is, pass on this design. I don't know why the original design had to be changed, but change is not always a good thing.
The company should reimburse me for all the paper towels I have to use EVERY day.
I would like to see the machine go back to its previous design so I may be able to start my day NEATLY and happily with my oldest friend, Mr. Coffee.

It is practically impossible to pour the coffee into your cup without getting almost as much on the kitchen counter! I think it is the extra wide spout and the reason they give you 5 cups instead of 4 in the pot. This spillage also happens when pouring the water into the reservoir. Also, it you remove the carafe during brewing, it is not drip free. It will dribble and splash against the coffee maker. The coffee making is fairly quick and quiet. I prefer my old coffee maker that had a slide out basket and a pot that was easier to deal with.

(More customer reviews)You would think by now the Mr. Coffee folks would know how to make a coffee maker, but this one was apparently designed by people who have never brewed a cup of coffee in their lives.
If the carafe isn't in just the right position, you wake up to a puddle of coffee on yourr counter and floor. Unfortunately, I cannot tell what the right position is--it just overflows randomly.
As if that wasn't bad enough, the clock display is right above the carafe. As the coffee brews, the steam infiltrates the clock and fills it full of condensation, making it very difficult to read. After a few months of this, the clock quits working altogether and you cannot set a delayed brew. You read correctly: this coffeemaker kills it's own clock!
I will NEVER buy a Mr. Coffee product again.

Continental Electric CE23589 4 Cup Coffee Maker-black Review

(More customer reviews)This is basically the same brewer as the Elite Quisine 4 cup brewer which you can buy here at Amazon. The same manufacturer must make both for different companies. One says "Elite" and the other says "Continental" but they are clones. Both are so inexpensive I got one of each, in case I need a spare. As inexpensive as they are, I don't know how long they will last. This one seems to have a slightly lower brewing temperature than the Elite Quisine and the caraf doesn't have calibrations for the amount of coffee that the Elite has. This one is also a lot cheaper. I paid only $12.00 and now it is down to $9 and change. The Elite is 19.95.
My only real criticism of this one is that the brewing temperature could be hotter, as the other brewer is. I measured the temperature in the pot on this at 179 degrees Farenheit but that is after the water soaks through the beans and drips through the air about 6 inches. The Elite temps out at 185 in the pot. It tastes hotter too.
If you buy this one, or the other for that matter, I would recommend one of those double walled Bodum mugs you can get at Starbucks (don't have those shipped or they will arrive broken half of the time.) This will keep your coffee warmer longer but I wouldn't take to long to drink it lest it not be hot enough for you.

I have have 4 of these tea makers now and all, I repeat, all the containers broke and or cracked before anything was wrong with the main unit for brewing the tea. The company also does not make it easy to buy replacements cheaply and easily as you should be able to buy more than one pitcher at a time so you are not left with company and stranded not being able to make any new ice tea with your Mr. Coffee due to breaks in the pitchers. They need to improve their product as it would not be hard nor expensive to build a better container.

(More customer reviews)This low-cost, high-value espresso maker makes espresso as good or better than most restaurants. I should note that it can be purchased at Walmart for $29.99 I make perfect espresso daily and my girlfriend has mastered latte's and cappuccino's. Her friends are running out to buy this machine in droves after sampling her concoctions. We were delighted by how well it steams and makes froth. It takes a couple tries to get it all right, but can be mastered with little effort. To have enough steam for frothing, add water to the top of the metal band on the pot and switch from brew function to steam function as the coffee reaches the bottom of the band, this will allow ample steam for anything.
The general concensus has been that the drinks produced are as good as Starbucks or better. We recovered the cost of this espresso maker by the 2nd day of usage. It gets 5+ stars for an overall excellent product (the quality of drinks) and the same rating for overall value. Get one!

(More customer reviews)My wife and I were looking to replace our old-fashioned aluminum stove-top espresso maker with something simple yet easier to clean. The aluminum models are a drag--you never know if the temperature is right or how long to let it sit on the stove. They're also nearly impossible to keep clean. The La Pavoni ESP-20 Caffe Mattina seemed like a good choice: it uses electricity, has an auto-shut off function, and it's made of stainless steel. I've used several times now and find the ESP-20 to be exactly as described: it's easy to use, easy to clean, and it brews several cups of smooth espresso in less than ten minutes (depending on the temperature of the fresh water you use). The stainless-steel construction is very robust, and the design is very stylish. As you can see from the advertising photo, this model has a tiny spout that looks, well, impractical. To the contrary, I found this little pitcher to pour very, very well. And my wife thinks it so cute. It costs a bit more than you might expect for something this small and simple, but I think it's a good value. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)For a connoisseur of iced tea such as myself this is a most wonderful gadget, it works so well that I bought a second one just in case anything happens to it then I'll have a replacement.
I have a suggestion to offer about the manufacturer's instructions or for anyone who makes their own iced tea. If you have always had a problem with your tea tasting bitter after you make it then try this, DO NOT ADD ICE BEFORE BREWING as per the mfgs instructions, also never boil water with tea in it, add hot water to your tea, steep for about 3 minutes no longer than 4-5 minutes, or in this case just let the machine handle it, after you brew your tea and remove the loose tea or bags, LET THE PITCHER SET OPEN TOPPED TO AIR OUT FOR AT LEAST 10 MINUTES. In this time I have found that the bitterness seeps out and the end result is far better tasting tea, much smoother and with less bite. After that add just enough ice to chill then fill to the top line,(Or Lower if not strong enough) with cold water and make it the way you like.
I have always thought that the cafeterias and nice restaurants have made the best tea, but now I have surpassed even the best of restaurants by trying different teas and brewing them together for fabulous flavors. This Hamilton Beach Tea Maker has its own tea strainer built in but you can also remove the strainer and use a regular large round pleated coffee filter in the basket which will make it much easier to dispose of the wet loose tea when you are done brewing.
To start with try 2 tablespoons of Lipton loose tea. Online you can go to TheteaSmith.com and order their flavored blended teas like Subtle Strawberry, Blue Shadow, Refreshing Raspberry and many others, I put a pinch or 2 of all 3 of these flavors in first and then the the 2 Tblspns of Lipton in the coffee filter set the brew dial on strong and follow the above instructions, and get exquisite fruity flavored tea, from here the possibilities are endless...Enjoy.

I also have hard water, but we use distilled/purified or spring bottled water in the maker - so their is not the build up of lime in the structure. Easy to clean with vinegar. Simple model, we keep it unplugged after it's done to prevent it from overheating (if in case it ever did) - then it lasts a bit longer. Of course we find the 12 cup only equates to about 4 of our mug sizes - but then, it's good for it's size.

(More customer reviews)This model SJX33GT is the simpler version of BVMC-SJX33GT; without the cleaning cyle option. This model does have the option of using the metal decanter which is sold separately. I intend to buy the metal decanter or replacement glass carafe, because every time I pour a cup of coffee; it drips on the counter. Other members of the household have commented on this, so it is not just how I am pouring it.
Except for this leaking problem, the coffemaker is ideal in everyway. It's a shame.

(More customer reviews)Purchased this product about a year ago and the electronics are no longer functional. Clock display goes blank and device shuts itself off after just a minute or so.
I was never impressed with the design in the first place as the reservoir holds about the same volume as the carafe, but has an overflow that drains anything over the 12 cup mark. Why is this an issue? If you overfill the reservoir, for example by filling the carafe just slightly over the 12 cup mark, the excess water drains out the back of the coffee maker and all over the counter or whatever surface the coffee maker sits on. The carafe holds well more than 12 cups so it is easy to exceed the 12 cup threshold of the reservoir. The reservoir water level indicator on the front of the coffee maker will show water levels above 12 cups and with room above the 12 cup water level, somewhat implies the reservoir will hold more. In actuality anything over 12 cups is draining out the back. Worst yet, it only trickles out, so the overflow may not be noticed right away.
