(More customer reviews)The carafe pours smoothly without dripping all over everything and the basket cover drip is stopped by steam release vents. The cone filter improves coffee flavor and eliminates the grounds from overflowing. Now I don't ask myself if I really turned off the coffee pot after I leave. I have experienced a black charred carafe but no more potential fires. It has the coffee ready in the morning giving me extra precious minutes. The basket placement issue is easily solved by leaving the carafe off the hot plate until the basket is properly installed. The black stainless is sharp and does not show the coffee stain that makes the white look dirty. Love this inexpensive pot and bought a second one to improve my daily experience while at our cabin.

(More customer reviews)I have had my share of coffee makers over the years and this one is by far my favorite. I love the front filling design. The tray swings out for BOTH water and grounds, so I can easily keep this in one place on the counter top. When placed on the the counter under overhead cabinets (normally a dark spot in my kitchen) this design is stellar. It's easy to see how much water you've filled. I program the timer and have coffee waiting when I wake up in the morning. It's a simple, straightforward, efficient design. It doesn't take up more space than it needs to and the coffee is hot and brewed just right. I would HIGHLY recommend this product to a friend. Oh, there is a "warming" tray on the top for your coffee mugs that I always forget to use. The coffee is HOT so I never need the extra boost from a warm mug, but it's a cute idea.

Dualit 84038 Cordless Coffee Percolator Review

(More customer reviews)After this percolator stopped working, we were instructed to send it to Dulalit's service center for repair (Electra Craft, Inc.) Customer service at the repair center was very unprofessional -- they would tell us the package was shipping out to us, and nothing would arrive. It was only after persistent calling that they finally shipped the percolator to us and it arrived in worse condition. It took them four months to return the percolator to us. They refused to replace the percolator because we owned it for more than 30 days. Amazon was very helpful and understanding and assisted us with a refund.
We unfortunately own two of these percolators and when the lid broke on the second one, I had to contact Electra Craft, again. They were able to provide the part, a simple stainless steel lid, for $25.00 plus shipping and handling! I'm sure their other replacement parts are overpriced as well!

(More customer reviews)We LOVE this coffee maker. I love that that you can just place your cup underneath without having to handle a carafe. The coffee is always made quickly. For larger coffee mugs or tumblers, we just use our hands to push the button behind the cup to make it work. Not hard to do.
Recently while cleaning The very top lid came off, only held by small plastic pieces to the main part of the coffee maker (hinge of lid). It was still under warranty so we are getting a new coffee maker in the next few days.
Overall, great product. We use it at least 3-4 times a week.

(More customer reviews)Hi all~ Please read the latest November 15, 2010 update below my initial review.ORIGINAL REVIEW-- Just wanted to give a quick counter balance to the sole review here.
This is our third 30+ cup urn purchased in the past 3 years or so. We received our coffee maker within 2 days of ordering using Amazon Prime.
The Maxi-Matic itself appears very attractive. We purchased it based on the insulating factor included in its design. We primarily use our coffee makers as hot water units for tea and french press. They run 24 hours a day under frequent use. We do not plan to use it as a coffee percolator.
Our household was happy to see the unit heats water to a higher temperature than many coffee makers and so far it seems to maintain the hot temp under its warming cycle. It is plenty hot enough to steep tea and coffee in our presses.
We did not find the machine to be noisy at all. In fact I think it is quieter than the Continental Electrics and West Bend brands we had previously.
I should also mention we can actually keep another 8-10 cups of water in the tank when not using the coffee pan.
We only buy stainless steel now after reading articles that suggest aluminum coffee makers leech more minerals and/or side-products that may be harmful to health.
I cannot speak to the previous reviewer's complaint about the percolating stem. To me it looks the same as most I've seen.
We purchased directly from Amazon so we are reassured that our 30 day return guarantee will give us sufficient time to see if there are any kinks. I'll report back if we find any serious ones.

UPDATE November 15, 2010-- Spigot broke off our 2nd urn. Sadly, I have to change my rating now from 3 stars to 1 star and ask that you DO NOT buy this product.

UPDATE September 5, 2010-- Our 2nd urn is still working. The handle seems to be holding up a little better than our last one, however we've noticed this urn doesn't keep the water as hot as our previous one which is a little disappointing. Today I'm feeling this is at 3 stars over the long term..

UPDATE May 10, 2010-- Sadly, our spigot handle broke off. It is clearly a weakness for this unit. Actually, a couple of months ago, half of the handle portion broke off, but we could still manage to use it without too much trouble. A few days ago the rest of the spigot handle broke vertically in half, separating & falling off, rendering the urn unusable. We've had it just about 5-6 months.
The urn heats so well though compared to the 2 or 3 others we've had- perfectly for a large hot water service pot for tea station, that we are ordering another. Figured the cost for mailing the unit back under warranty probably is not worthwhile. May do it later to have a back up.
We will reinforce the spigot on the new pot.
Down to 2 stars from 4.

UPDATE Nov 29, 2009-- Continues to work very well. Maintains a hot heat through the day. No issues to make me dissatisfied at this point.

(More customer reviews)I love coffee! Coffee, coffee & more coffee! For as long as I can remember, I have owned the basic, easy-to-use, bell and whistle-less Mr. Coffee Machine.
Early one morning, I was horrified to discover that the heating elment on my then current machine had committed suicide the night before. It was an ugly morning of bumping into walls and uttering quite a few ugly little sentences. Avid coffee drinkers will understand.
So I head over to the local "Linnens-and-Beyond" type place,(what exactly is the "beyond" part anyway?)and I found it. The basic, black, 12 cup, on/off, timer if I should ever decide to use it, under $30.00 Mr coffee. Yay! Oh the rejoicing!!
Until I got it out of the box. The horror! They had changed the design of my beloved basic machine!
It used to be that just the back water chamber lid opened. Now the whole top of the machine is lidded. The problem? I have to pull the machine all the way to the edge of the counter to pour the water in. Then I have to push the whole thing back after it is full. Splash!! Ok not so big a problem, right?
Wrong!! And now for the idiots of the world, they have introduced two sunflower seed sized holes on the back wall of the water chamber. I suppose this is so he chamber is not over-filled. Great. So any water that I may overpour goes all over the counter. Or when I push the machine back into place, the splashing water in the chamber comes out - you guessed it, all over the counter. Hey guys, thanks. What a brilliant idea.
Oh, did I mention that the pot itself is it's own little nightmare and a half. This pot spills, spills, spills and spills some more. When filling the chamber, it dribbles. When I am pouring a cup, it dribbles all over, you guessed it, my counter. Gee, I sure am getting sick of wiping up the counter.
Open up the top of this machine and you will find the filter basket which has above it, a pivoting water arm. Ths arm must be moved anytime the filter is to be removed or replaced. Did I mention I wanted basic? Why am I delaing with moving parts at 5am? Oh one more flaw with this design. Remember our dribbling special-ed pot? Well if any water you are pouring into the chamber hits the axis point of the pivoting arm (ooh fancy!), said water will dribble instantaneously onto the heating element below (where the pot sits). Yay! More to wipe up!
Ok, so the bottom line is, pass on this design. I don't know why the original design had to be changed, but change is not always a good thing.
The company should reimburse me for all the paper towels I have to use EVERY day.
I would like to see the machine go back to its previous design so I may be able to start my day NEATLY and happily with my oldest friend, Mr. Coffee.

(More customer reviews)This coffee maker WAS great! Now, less than a year later, it switches from Brew mode to Keep Warm ("Ready") mode prematurely before coffee is half brewed. It now delivers "coffee-stained" water that is not too warm. I think the thermostat has gone south because "Ready" light comes on rather quickly now and brewing stops abruptly. Good while it lasted; wasted money in retrospect.

(More customer reviews)This coffee maker makes coffee, but it also makes a huge mess. It is practically impossible to pour the coffee into your cup without getting almost as much on the kitchen counter! I think it is the extra wide spout and the reason they give you 5 cups instead of 4 in the pot. This spillage also happens when pouring the water into the reservoir. Also, it you remove the carafe during brewing, it is not drip free. It will dribble and splash against the coffee maker. The coffee making is fairly quick and quiet. I prefer my old coffee maker that had a slide out basket and a pot that was easier to deal with.

The only beef I have with it is that the plastic base that the handle is attached to allows the thermal glass to slide out somewhat easily when it is hot and it is tipped over for pouring or dumping out the grounds. This could cause the glass to break if it were to fall out onto a hard surface. Cleanup is as easy as a 5 second rinse on the plunger and another 5 second rinse on the glass part.

(More customer reviews)Again, i read the reviews prior to purchasing and found many people going for the "High End" coffee makers and ended up not being satisfied. My wife wanted a programmable for the odd times she may have to get up in the morning so coffee would already be brewed and waiting. This maker also comes in a non programmable model but you don't have to use the programming feature and can bypass it as i often do. It brews a great cup of coffee, the 12 cup pot is enough for us to enjoy a morning cup and fill our to go mugs. It brews the coffee hot and keeps it hot. The only thing to be aware of is that it has an automatic 2 hour shut off for safety - a good thing for those of us who forget to turn the coffee maker off - but can be annoying on days you are home and may want a hot cup later on. All you have to do is push the button on the right again and it will rewarm. I love this coffee maker and would recommend trying this one before much more expensive models unless you just like spending money.

The price was so good at walmart on this one, I had to try it - and I'd been looking for a cute little 4 cup, so I could have caffinated in one pot and decaf in another.
Had tried Mr coffee in the past and not liked it. Got it home an made my 1st 4 cups. It brewed a perfect pot, without leaks. The caraffe poured with no spills on the counter.
Cheap, small, cute, lightweight and brews a good pot. I am pleased

Recently it stopped working so we purchased another one just like it. Within two weeks the new one stopped working as well. Same problem -- it won't turn on. Bad luck perhaps, but I would recommend hanging on to your receipt.

I had to soak the carafe overnight with another dose of the stuff and still had to use a steel wool pad to get it clean. I'm still looking for something like Brewrite! :(

(More customer reviews)I've had this coffee maker for about a week and have used it every morning. It works just fine - quiet, simple, very basic. I especially appreciate the black fill markings inside where the water goes, this is so helpful to those of us with not-so-great vision. The only thing that I wish it had is a removeable lid on the carafe. Washing and drying the carafe would be so much easier if the lid snapped off. I've tried gently to take it from its hinge but it does not come away and I don't want to force it. UPDATE - I am now able to remove the lid for ease of washing and rinsing. I just had to sort of force it off one day and it has gotten easier now to take off and put back on. If they had said the lid was removeable in the instructions I would have tried sooner.

The reason I've been angry is the same as the rest of the reviewers....great product which makes great coffee but leaks! I finally removed the glass container from the unit, cleaned off the cheap silicone that they use to seal it to the heating element, and re-sealed it with a high-temp gasket maker that I purchased from a auto parts store. NO MORE LEAKING!!! If Chef's Choice would simply use a better silicone sealer, this product would fly off the shelves. I've been using my new and improved press for 6 months now with no problems.

(More customer reviews)This urn is supremely functional, with no bells and whistles. It advertises brewing times of 45 seconds per cup, but I've found that it's closer to the minute per cup advertised by other models: you'll buy back very little setup time with this model (heating 2 gallons of water took 35 minutes for example). Plus, like all other coffee urns, this one sings its moany little song while brewing, so if there's a chance it might be a distraction, you'll need to plug it in ahead of time so it's done brewing by the time the main event occurs, or you'll need to brew in another room and move it to the buffet table once it's hot. The one-handed dispensing works fine if the cup being dispensed into is solid, like a coffee mug, but common sense is confirmed that paper cups are not sturdy enough to depress the button without collapsing. In order to dispense one-handed with a paper cup, you have to push the button with your knuckles, which puts your fingers in the path of potentially hot liquids. Finally, and this is something that there's no way to know before reading the owner's manual, there's a little strainer right above where the liquid comes out. The owner's manual warns not to tip the urn while dispensing in order to prevent clogging of this strainer with coffee grounds. That's all well and good, except that due to the placement of the dispensing nozzle, the coffee becomes inaccessible when the level goes below about 10 cups--that's 1/4 of the total brew for a full pot!! It's this waste factor that resulted in the 4 stars instead of 5. For its price, it's a tidy little machine--the nozzle is particularly good at preventing drips. However, I'd rather clean up dribble from a lower-placed nozzle than have to find a way to decant 10 cups of coffee.
