(More customer reviews)This product would have earned the fifth star if it had a sturdy handle on top and a little beefier latch. I really like it, all my stuff fit in it, but it is thick and requires two hands to pick up. The latches are a bit wimpy too. These two improvements would go a long way to motivating me to buy the new and improved version.

16 pcs Travel Sewing Kit with Scissor in a box Review

(More customer reviews)I guess you get what you pay for, but I was expecting something of somewhat decent quality, I mean, this is just needles and thread here. I don't see why I should have to spend even $10 to get something that isn't total garbage. First, the box itself is useless. You can never get the pieces back into the box the way it arrived, and the box broke upon opening it. The thimble is a joke - a silly plastic thing. The "pin cushion" is a cheap spongey thing, like the kind of stuff you might get as cushioning in an electronics box. The thread is eh. The needles, ugh, here is the worst. They all broke! Mid-sew! I'm not a super powerhouse with the sewing needle; it's not like I'm thrusting away wildly getting that button sewn on. I have never had a needle snap in half mid-stitch! Please don't waste your money on this.

(More customer reviews)I needed a nicer set of scissors for my purse and my mom used to have a nice pair that looked like these many years ago, so I ordered this one. I liked how they folded on themselves to protect the blades and the items in your purse. (not to mention your fingers when rummaging for them) It has rust on the blades and just isn't worth seven bucks in my opinion. Thanks for your time.

I have used DMC perle cotton for 30 years plus, and feel this thread is as nice if not better. It is a little more tightly twisted than the DMC, and glides through linen fabric with ease.

(More customer reviews)I received the sewing kit to give to my future daughter-in-law. I was appalled at the quality of the product. The plastic tray is extremely "flimsy" and would not last at all. The "notions" that are included are of particulary poor quality. The tracing wheel would not last long enough to trace one pattern. The scissors are not sewing scissors, but are cheap craft scissors. The thread is not mercerized and would shrink when washed. As one person who saw it said "No corner was left uncut." I would not recommend that anyone buy this, especially if you were using it as a prize or a promotional device. Currently, I am disturbed by their return policy, which seems to be "customer unfriendly."

(More customer reviews)Cheaply made. Extremely small overall size. Has 24 pegs for spools of thread, but since they are way too close together, they won't hold regular sizes of spools. Came with 24 TINY spools of thread that won't last very long. Came with quite a few notions, but the straight pins weren't in a box. I could hear them rattling when I got the package. When I opened the box, pins were everywhere, and fell out all over the floor. The only really useful notion is a needle threader that comes with a magnifying glass. Came with bobbins for some reason, already loaded with thread. Of course the bobbins don't work with my machine and since you need to fill a bobbin with the thread you're using, these bobbins are useless. If this kit had cost $5.95, it would have been too expensive, but a little more reasonable for the quality of the product.

(More customer reviews)The case is fragile and falls apart from the slightest knock. The small item containers have hard plastic lids that come off all the time. The lid hinges break easily and won't stay on once broken. Once that happens, you won't be able to close the case without spilling its contents all over the place.

(More customer reviews)The chest is very compact and holds quite a bit more stuff than I would have expected, but doesn't quite do what I had hoped. It is very inexpensive, so I wasn't really thinking it would be amazing, however I thought somehow, that the spools of thread would be larger, or that the spacing between them would be greater. I didn't believe I would be getting 100yrd spools of DMC thread or anything, but I had hoped that I could easily reuse the rods with the smaller DMC spools, but I think it'll only hold Gutt. thread spools. Also the poles are pretty short, so it's unlikely I'll be able to store bobbins beneith the spools like I like to.
I do recomend this for anyone who doesn't have a lot of the individual tools, ect, as it's a cheap way to get most of them. You'd still need to buy yourself a nice pair of sheers for cutting fabric, and some ballpoint needles (the needles they include are rather cheap), but other than that you probly wont need to buy anything else for a while.

As far as the bobbins, remember that some sewing machines are quite selective as to what works, so these generic bobbins might not work.
