(More customer reviews)If the clock hadn't arrived broken, I would have rated it higher. It was going to be a perfect gift for my son-in-law, and it looked great in its box. I got impatient to hear the train sounds, so I opened the box. Oops! Four plastic posts are supposed to connect the front to the back, but all four posts had broken off during shipping. For myself, I could have glued them back together, but that wouldn't make a very nice gift.
I returned the clock for a refund (which went very smoothly and quickly). Next, I ordered the 8" version of the clock instead. It arrived safely and in time for me to play with it. It keeps time, plays the train sounds on the hour (but not in the dark, as promised), and has a test button on the back so you can hear a sampling of the sounds without waiting for every hour to roll around. I would give the smaller clock a rating of 5 stars
