This is my 3rd breadmachine and because I purchase lots of Cuisinart products I thought it would be great. Not true - as it burns the bread on every cycle! Also, the right baking pan clamp screw got stripped after only 2-3 times, and it is now nearly impossible to seat the baking pan inside, so it will engage - just to make the dough! I am very disapointed, as I love homemade bread.

ya know,last year, this machine went kaput...and I really miss it and got to thinking about how long I had this and how much I relied on it. I made rolls, whole grain bread, pizza dough, cinnamon roll dough, and lots and lots of loaves of bread: whole wheat, oatmeal, white, raisin, etc. Always made a great loaf. I would put soup in the crock pot and bread ingredients in the machine and always had a good dinnner on a cool fall or winter evening. The cookbook and instruction manual is very helpful. In fact, I still have it on the bookshelf. soo how long did it last? 15 YEARS!!

I purchased this item 2 months ago, and the bread pan has already discolored. According to the machine's instruction manual, it says that "some discoloring" may occur, but it should not affect the "performance" of the machine. Performance? I am more concerned about whatever metal coating is falling out of the wall of the pan and into my bread! With everything being made so cheaply in China, you really have to watch out for these things. Whatever it is, this company is certainly okay with putting my health at risk, because when I tried getting in touch with customer service, they suggested that I return the bread maker to whomever I purchased from, and get a new one. What does that say about its quality? In addition, when I asked for spare bread pan to purchase as an accessory, customer service said they don't sell spare parts. I guess this is what I get for paying a low price for a cheap bread maker that can't guarantee quality, can't service, can't do it right.

This is a bread makers dream. This is a bread maker that is high tech., yet simple to use. It has many features not avaiable on other makers, (and I've gone through two others). This machine allows you to customize the bread you want to make, various types and batters, sizes and crusts...and more.
It has a hard crust feature to replicate the European crusts. It even does bagels that come out as bought at the deli.
Sultan, the manufaturer, has another great product.
You won't be diappointed with this machine.

I purchased this machine and sent the first one back to HSN for a replacement. The second one bakes really hard loaves which only rise and bake on one end of the loaf. It's as if there is a defect in one end of the heating element. I contacted the company that produces the machines and they won't even respond. I had read reviews regarding this machine from other websites and thought they just weren't using the machine according to directions. I so wish I had listened to them more closely.

Just purchased this machine and I love it...so far. I've used it 4 times. I especially love that I can not only make bread but other foods also. I've made bread and I've tried the jam recipe, it came out great. I'm looking forward to trying cake, meatloaf and sour dough along with more recipes included in the book.
Now for the machanics of it. While it is rather large and a bit heavy I would suggest finding a place to use it and leave it rather than moving it around each time you want to bake. I love the duel metal paddles and the loaf shape pan. Another feature I really like is the way the pan loads into the machine, (no rubber gaskets anywhere). So easy to lock into place and to remove. My old machine had a tube shape pan with a rubber gasket on the bottom outside which always stuck to the pan and was difficult to remove from the machine. The old machine had only one plastic paddle which I had to replace several times because it would break or strip out. Clean-up wasn't quick either. This machine's pan and paddles are non stick, clean-up is a breeze. Instructions are easy to follow and all the buttons are clearly marked.
I've rated it 5 star and at this point I would recommend this machine. But again I've only used it 4 times so far.

I've been using this machine for about three years. The breads are really good, but I have some issues: if for any reason do you want to stop the machine, you have to re-start the whole process again; the kneading process is too strong and takes too long. I also don't like the big hole in the breads. I take care of my kitchen appliances very well, but the chrome is starting to show some brown spots. If you don't have another option, this is a good machine.

We have a non-wheat eater at home, and we are not alone. Many people these days have found out they are intolerant to gluten, and others eat low-carb breads while losing or maintaining weight. Standard bread machines make bread by mixing, kneading and then baking breads with some variations of timing and temperature, but generally they have not been able to handle specialized bread mixes such as gluten free. That is, until now. This machine has additional cycles for specialized breads, so now you can use gluten free mixes, gluten free flour blends, spelt, and low carb recipes.
The Breadman BK2000B has just about everything a bread baker could want. There are 14 programs on board, including gluten free, low carb, sweet, whole wheat, as well as dough only, BAKE only (use commercial dough, or perhaps a dough you froze earlier) and jam, where you can heat and stir preserves. In addition, the paddles that mix the dough in the machine collapse, meaning you won't be pulling those out of the bottom of the loaf after it's baked, and if THAT weren't fabulous enough, there are three pans. One is a 2.5 pound standard long loaf and there are two smaller coffee-can sized 1 pound loaves if you want to make give-aways or if your family eats less bread and you want to freeze a loaf and serve a loaf. Oh, and I almost forgot to mention, there is a nut or fruit dispenser for stirring in raisins, cranberries and the like at the proper time. No need to run in and add them during the cycle yourself.
I know, I know, you are salivating at this point and you haven't even baked your first loaf. What do you choose to make first? Cranberry nut tea bread? (no yeast), a jam out of the apricots from Mom's tree? We chose to make Spelt Bread first, because it is wheat free (though not, repeat NOT, gluten free. We can tolerate spelt but celiac sufferers cannot.) Spelt requires low kneading as the gluten of spelt falls apart with rough handling. The Breadman BK2000B employs the Gluten Free setting for spelt--as gluten free bread and spelt all require less kneading time on that part of the cycle.
But first, let's talk about the "OOBE" or out-of-box-experience. Here's what comes with the unit and what you receive:
1. The bread machine itself. It's large. Maybe 20 inches long (deep.) It's longer than it is wide and it's an attractive glossy black (won't show heat staining as white machines can do after time.) The controls are on the front of the top, push buttons, not the membrane type but actual buttons, with an LED display. The lid lifts back. There is a vent at the very back top for the heat. The top has a silver brushed trim. This is an attractive, serious-looking appliance.
The fruit/nut dispenser doubles as a vent. On top, in back, is a vented compartment. You lift it off, drop in your fruit or nuts, and then when the time comes during the dough cycle to stir in these additions, the bottom opens up to drop in the ingredients and then stays open to provide venting for the heat. A very clever design.
The cycles not only include sweet breads, whole wheat, gluten-free and low carb, but have quick cycles for some of the breads, in case you want to speed up your process. I was asked "why a bake-only" cycle; it's possible you might have a sourdough or a commercial dough, neither of which would go through any of the dough cycles but could be baked in the breadmaker nonetheless.
2. Comes with a measuring cup and a sliding measuring spoon for salt and yeast.
3. Three baking buckets; one long for the 2.5 lb and two of the smaller for 1 lbs.
4. The paddles (coated with non stick)
5. An instruction book. The book has the operating instructions on one side. Flip it over, and there is a recipe book including low carb and gluten free recipes, some from scratch with various non-gluten flours and one for standard gluten free bread mix as you can find in most grocery stores these days. The book is spiral-bound so it will stay open on your counter.
I made a standard white bread from the recipe book. It was a 2 lb loaf that rose up beautifully, but needed to be baked longer (the dark setting would be better.) I just added 10 minutes using the bake only cycle after the initial baking had ended. The collapsible paddles are only slightly good; one collapsed, one stuck in the loaf in the open position. I think soaking them before using, in a light vegetable oil might help in future. Will be testing this.
We made my standard spelt bread: recipe as follows:
1-1/4 cups boiling water with 1/4 cup oatmeal soaked in it until cooled (put in pan, let soak until lukewarm)
1/4 cup blackstrap molasses
2 Tbsp. melted butter
1 teaspoon salt
4 cups whole spelt flour
2-1/2 teaspoons bread machine yeast
optional; tbs golden flax seeds soaked with the oatmeal.
Bake on gluten free setting. Makes a 2lb loaf.
MELBA TOAST: If you have stale ends of bread, let's say an inch or three of the end of a loaf and you want to be thrifty yet make a new fresh loaf, take the stale bread and cut it 1/4 inch thick, then halve the slices. Butter them lightly, sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 475 F in your oven on a cookie sheet. This takes about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and you CANNOT leave them unattended. Keep checking. When toasted, take carefully off the sheet immediately with a spatula. This is true Melba toast and it's really delicious. Serve with soups or breakfast with coffee or tea. Store leftovers (hahah) in a cookie tin.
This machine is really fantastic. We are so thrilled to be able to make our wheat-free breads. Will update this review with how it works for jam and for non-spelt, non-wheat flours, which we use less often. So far, I give this a huge thumbs up as it does EVERYTHING you need for baking.
*** UPDATE, NOV.2010. We use this almost daily. Only issue is that a small plastic peg used to hold the spring latch on the fruit/nut dispenser was defective and broken, so the dispenser doesn't work. Bad design to use a thin plastic peg to hold a screw. And would be a nuisance to have to pack the whole thing up and return for replacement, so we'll live with it. I still give this high marks.

This is an excellent bread machine, I have been very happy with machine....however I had to order a replacement pan due to metal exposure and scraping that happened in blade areas. If you purchase this machine DO NOT wash or fill pan with hot water immediately after removing bread....it causes protective pan liner to flake off. I now wait until pan cools before I soak it in hot water to clean.

This is my fourth bread machine in the past 15-20 years. I started out using the original Zojirushi, which was a great machine (but eventually died after many years of loyal service). More recently, I had been using a full-size Zojirushi BBCCX20 and a Breadman Ultimate. I still use both the Breadman and the Zojirushi BBCCX20 for specific purposes (I bake a lot of bread), but the Zo Mini is the only machine that stays permanently on my counter now. It has become, by far and away, my favorite bread machine.
For starters, I should explain why I still use the Breadman and the full-size Zo:
o The Breadman (which seems to be sold under a variety of private labels these days) is the most flexible machine on the market in terms of the range of cycles and the ability to adjust the cycle timing. I especially like the Pause button for breads that refuse to proof as quickly as expected. The motor is weak, though, and the machine is very noisy.
o The full-size Zo has a great motor. It's the only option for making 2-pound loaves of whole-wheat bread. It also has the ability to program custom cycles (but no Pause button once a cycle is under way). On the downside, it has a very annoying beep to signal when it's time to add fruit/nuts -- the beep goes for a very long time and can't be silenced, which is a problem if you use the machine on a delay setting to bake bread overnight. Like the Breadman, it also takes up quite a bit of counter space.
Now, on to the Zojirushi Mini:
+ The Zo mini produces the perfect size loaf for every day. The larger machines are great for producing 1.5 to 2 pound loaves, which are the right size for a big gathering. But a loaf of that size is too big for everyday meals. The Zo Mini, on the other hand, produces a loaf that's perfect for everyday use -- we generally eat half the loaf as soon as it comes out of the machine, then finish off the loaf the next day before it goes stale.
+ The Zo mini takes up less than half the counter space of the full-size loaf machines. It's so small that I can leave it out all the time, which makes it really easy to bake a loaf of bread on a whim.
+ The Zo mini seems to live up to the Zojirushi reputation in terms of motor power. I've had no trouble with very stiff whole-wheat doughs.
+ The Zo mini is very quiet. The difference between the Zo and my Breadman in terms of noise is amazing. This is especially important if you like to use the machine on a delay setting overnight so that you can wake up to fresh bread.
On the downside:
- The Zo mini does not have the same options as the full-size Zo to create customized baking cycles, and it still doesn't have a Pause button (why hasn't Zojirushi figured this out by now?).
- The beeper that indicates when to add fruit/nuts still can't be turned off. On the positive side, though, the beeper only beeps about five times on the mini, which is a huge improvement over the 15-beep cycle on the full-size Zo (which always kept me from using the full-size Zo overnight).
In a nutshell: The Zojirushi Mini is the closest thing I've found to the perfect bread machine. It's compact and simple, with a powerful motor, and it produces the ideal size loaf (i.e., one that you can finish before it goes stale). Although I continue to use my bigger machines for holidays, the Zo Mini is now the only bread machine we use on a regular basis. It's a great addition to the kitchen if you enjoy fresh bread.

I've been baking my own bread for over 15 years now in bread machines. I've averaged baking between 1 and 2 loaves a week during this time, so I feel I'm a pretty good judge of bread machines. The first two bread machines I used were not Zojirushi, but another leading maker of bread machines. I was fairly happy with them, but from time to time, depending on the time of the year (mainly mid summer) it was hard to get loaves to come out right, mainly due to getting the temperature of the water correct depending on the surrounding temp. Also, the size of the loaves were not the most desirable.
I've owned the Zojirushi for two months now, and I love it. It's much better than my previous bread machines in many ways, and overcomes the issues I described above with my previous machines. The loaves are much larger, so I don't have to bake bread as often, since they last longer. And the loaf dimensions are much better. I can now slice a piece of bread and it's much more like the size of a normal slice of bread, unlike what you get from other bread machines. The two paddles really seem to do a better job of mixing the dough. Plus, they reverse directions, to do even a better job of mixing.
One very important feature of the Zojirushi is that it will adjust the temperature of the water to the right temperature before starting the initial cycle. It does this during the pre-baking cycle. I'm guessing it does this by sensing the temperature of the water inside, and the temperature of the surrounding temperature, and adjusting the temperature of the water by pre-heating it, so you get the optimal water/liquid temperature before it starts it's mixing. This feature insures that you get much better results no matter what the temperature is in your house.
All the loaves of bread we've baked so far in the Zojirushi have come out with the perfect consistency and texture, no matter what kind of bread we make. This makes it possible to slice the bread easily, even to the last slice, unlike our previous bread machines.
Overall, I would say the Zojirushi is very much worth the money. It's a little more expensive than many of the others, but if you really want the best results, it's well worth the money.

I came to machine made bread late, and it was a long road to get here. You could say I was a purist stuck in times past, or I was just waiting for my questions to be answered. I know a bunch of people who swear by thier bread machines, and several folks who've had one die and miss it terribly. Me, I had no real problems making bread the old fashioned way so to speak. I learned how to make bread from my Mom when I was a little girl, and that always worked for me.
I'd read that for features and function the Zojirushi was the top of the line. Great, but there was no way I could cost justify that kind of money for a bread machine. Plus, while it met most of my specifications, it missed on one important one, loaf size. For me a requirment was a horiontal loaf, and an ideal was maximum function and control. Including loaf size and crust.
Enter the Hi-Rise. It's selectable for four different loaf sizes 1, 1.5, 2 and 2.5 pound loaves. It has three different crust settings that give one control over color and thickness of the crust, accessed with the temp button.
With a horizontal loaf pan, and dual blades, it makes it simple and easy to prepare just about anything. The large windows in the top make it easy to watch how your bread is doing and the display is easy to read and keeps you informed about where in your journey each loaf is. It even has prgrammability in terms of when the bread machine starts, and even allows you to create a custom profile for "Home Made" bread. Wake up to the smell of bread baking? Done! Now you can program the coffee machine to start your morning cup of java, and have fresh baked bread waiting too. Spoil me rotten why don't you!
The acid test of course was actually making bread with it. Took it out of the box, used the basic white bread recipe that came with the manual, hit start and walked away. I looked in now and again to see what it was doing, but I did not hover, chosing instead to believe that this would work just fine and I'd have a wonderful smell to tell me that all was right in my bread machine.
Soon, the unmistakable aroma of rising dough filled my senses, and sometime later, baking bread. When done I took it out of the machine and placed a wonderful looking and sounding loaf on the cooling rack and waited a bit before putting on water for tea. When I say sounding, one of the things my Mom taught me was to tap on the side of the crust lightly like with produce to get an idea of how the bread was inside. A properly cooked loaf should have a slightly hollow sound to it when tapped. Sure enough, this one did.
When the time was right, I poured a cup of tea to steep, waited for it to be ready and cut a slice out of my warm, crusty, perfect, loaf of bread. It was crusty on the outside as it should be, and warm, slightly moist, springy bread on the inside. I grew up in New England, and one of the things I love is "Country Style" bread. Slightly heavier, and moister than your run of the mill bread, it has a wonderful taste, texture and weight to it not generally available outside of New England.
Before I even tasted this I knew I was in for a treat from the smell, feel and texture of bread. The first morsel was a reward beyond my expectations! "Country Style" bread by pushing a button. Plus because I controled the ingredients it is healthy too. I used 1% milk, and "Smart Balance" butter substitute along with Unbleached King Arthur Bread Flour and Fleischmen's "Highly Active Yeast" in the making of my first loaf. Perfect "Country Style" loaf in terms of all criteria. Taste, Texture, Smell, Weight, Crust, Color and Moisture.
It is easily the simplest loaf I've ever made. Put the materials in the pan, select options, press start and walk away. I'm thrilled with this bread machine! Hundreds less than it's nearest Zojirushi in terms of price and more features. Needless to say, I'll make more of this so called basic bread again, because now I can have "Country Style" bread anytime I want it despite no longer living in New England. So far I've only made one loaf, but I know hundreds more are to follow, next I'm going to go for a New York Deli style Rye.
The West End Hi-Rise is a gem at twice the price, and honestly has more features then the high end Zojirushi. Plus this has one touch selectable loaf size & crust type which the Zojirushi does not.
Would I reccomend this again? Oh yes, without question.

This is the third bread maker that I've owned over the years. The first two were made by Regal and back then the loaves were tall and more square in size. One of the features I like about this Breadman BK1060S is that the loaf is more rectangular in size and that means you can slice it like a normal loaf of bread.
The bread maker is an attractive design made of brushed aluminum. Although it is a thin aluminum that seems to show every dent and surface flaw easily, it's good enough. The lid of the bread maker is designed to completely lift off from the main unit if you need to remove it for cleaning. However I did notice that because of the plastic hinges that are used, a certain amount of "play" is introduced that makes it possible for the lid to hit the right edge of the main unit as you are closing the lid. This is not a huge issue, but you just need to be aware of that fact as you close the lid. I've uploaded a few photos in the Customer Images area to show you exactly what I mean.
I followed the instructions and before making my first loaf of bread, ran the machine through a baking cycle to burn off any residues from the manufacturing process. Once the unit cooled down, I washed the baking tray. I decided to make as my first loaf, the 2lb basic white bread. I was immediately thrown off a bit by the recipe calling for 1 1/2 TBS of dry milk powder. What??? Then my brain got tied into a knot as I was trying to figure out how to make the bread without dry milk powder. I quickly realized I could probably just substitute milk for the water and completely omit the dry milk powder. Bingo... worked like a charm. The reason the recipes call for dry milk powder is to account for the possibility of you choosing delayed baking in which case milk sitting in the maker for hours before being cooked, could spoil.
So the first loaf came out just about perfect. I've uploaded a couple pictures of it. The top of the loaf collapsed just a bit, but the texture of the bread was perfect. No voids whatsoever and the crust (medium by default) was just perfect.
As far as the collapsible paddle is concerned, it worked as expected. I did try to ensure that it was upright before adding the ingredients and made an effort to ensure it did not collapse as I was adding the flour even though the instructions claim that even if the paddle does collapse, that it will correct itself once the kneading cycle begins. Once the loaf was baked and removed from the tray, the paddle had indeed collapsed as it was supposed to leaving only a small hole about 1/2" deep in the bottom of the loaf. I've uploaded a photo to show this.
Another feature of this bread maker that is great is the ability to have nuts and fruits drop into your dough at the appropriate time via the dispenser located at the top rear area of the lid. You load the ingredients and then during the appropriate cycle, the ingredients are dropped into the dough and mixed in without your intervention. Brilliant!
The operation of the bread maker was easy enough. Instructions were clear and the recipe book contained a lot of different recipes including those for just dough so you can bake in your own oven. There are also some jam recipes included. Yum... nothing like piping hot, freshly made bread with butter and home-made jam.
Overall I'm pleased with the Breadman bread maker. It is reasonably priced, attractive, cleans up easily and makes a great, nearly foolproof loaf of bread. About the only advice I can give is to make sure you follow your recipe closely and be consistent in measuring your ingredients. About the only way you can screw up is if your dough is too soft or too stiff. You need to pay attention the first few times you make a recipe so that you can adjust ingredients accordingly.
I love putting the ingredients in at night and then waking up to a just-finished-baking loaf of bread. It's awesome.
PROS: Attractive, easy to clean, simple operation, great selection of recipes, not that noisy
CONS: Aluminum shows every dent and ding easily, lid closure hits edge of machine if not being careful

I have been a breadmaker my entire life. There is nothing like the smell of baking bread as you walk in the door, especially on a cold winter day. The evolution of the bread machine was exciting for me. I remember the first bread machines with the tall, horizontal loaf pan that was somewhat less than exciting. Then, the "horizontal" loaf appeared. I own two of the first Breadman machines, TR845 with the horizonal loaf and as a "basic breadmaker" those are terrific. They are sturdy, relatively quiet for a breadmaker and the pan secures itself well within the machine. This model does not have all the cycles of more current models and it does not automatically add ingredients as do the TR2500, or Tr2700. However, it does offer a signal "beep" when to add ingredients such as raisons, or cranberries. I love to bake bread and give it away. I often have four breadmakers going at the same time during a holiday.
Last year I purchased the Breadman TR2500, Stainless and Black. Initially I was quite pleased with the performance. However, after several uses I did have problems with the bread pan releasing from the holders on each side requiring a bending and adjusting of the snap in prongs of both the pan and the breadmaker itself. I think this is because the stainless steel on the inside isn't quite as strong as with simple steel of the past models I have used. I LOVE THE COVECTION FEATURE. The first thing I noticed about adding convection to a breadmaker was the crust. The entire crust of the bread, not only the top is VERY CRISPY. For those of you who love to cut off the heel of a fresh loaf of bread and smear with butter, this is a dream (of course the heel is still the best part of the loaf). Now, I just aquired the newer model which is a TR2700. I have not had the problem with the pan coming loose from the holders in the machine as of yet and the inside is similar in construction to the TR2500? Both the TR2500 and the TR2700 make quite a bit more noise during the kneeding cycles which I think is due to the stainless steel construction vs. steel and plastic which I don't think conduct noise as well. Still, the TR2700 is still top notch and well worth the money if you love to make bread and would use it frequently. ONE TIP ON ALL BREADMACHINES. If you find that hole in the bottom of the bread annoying, or displeasing simply keep track of your cycle. After the machine has completed the second kneed going in to the last rise, simply reach in and take off the paddle. End result is a nice loaf with only a small hole from the hub of the paddle. Nice little trick and you won't ever mistakingly give a loaf away with the paddle stuck in it. OOPS, where's my bread paddle?, the next time you try making bread.
