(More customer reviews)We bought KitchenAid architect series for our whole kitchen. Most of the appliances have been very good. The ice maker we used for about a year before servicing it twice and it needs servicing again. Each time is about $200 through their authorized service company ( a joke). Finally I got smart and turned it off. Now we have a awesome kitchen with a secret. Broken appliance... Try any thing but kitchenaid, (whirlpool) and you'll save yourself some heartache.

Water line to the unit runs clear. Two faucets next to the ice maker and connected to same main line run clear. Unit is now leaking water from the ice tray and making very little ice. Ice storage bucket is mostly water. Unit has been used very sparingly, holidays and special events

(More customer reviews)I love this machine and would recommend it to people who understand and appreciate the below points.
If you have lived in Asia or Europe, you have seen some version of this machine before, on peoples' porches and patios.
One powerful idea is you control how many times you want to rinse (I love double and triple rinsing my clothes - get the dirt AND the detergent out!). You control how many minutes to agitate. You can customize how you want to do your clothes. It's super for soaking and gentle-agitating your fine washables - use a mesh laundry bag! Soak as long as you like - it's not the laundromat!
The best idea is the super efficient centrifuge like spinner. Yes, it's the flap side on the right, yes, you have to load that side separately. However, the spinner is so fast, faster than the spin mechanism in ANY other type of washing machine, that your clothes are just moist, not sopping wet when they come out. This means your clothes will air dry pretty fast! I would guess that not even the best conventional washing machines spin clothes as well as this spinner.
That's why the spinner in this machine is separate - it's a completely different function.
This design is why they don't use clothes dryers in Asia and Europe - because of the centrifuge spinner.
As for load size, I do laundry for two adults and one 5 year old every couple of days - I hate letting a week of dirty stuff pile up. It would be hell to air dry a week's worth of wet clothes. However, doing smaller loads more frequently allows you to avoid using the clothes dryer. You can have fewer clothes, too. Another $$ saver. (Having more underwear and socks is NOT the answer!)
The dryer not only costs $$ and is ecologically incorrect, it destroys and shortens the life of your textiles so you do want to avoid using it anyway, right?
The small footprint means it fits nicely in our small Manhattan apartment's half bathroom. I doubt any other machine would fit in there. No installation is necessary - you just need a sink. The casters make moving it around easy. It's pretty lightweight - I am a petite woman and I can move it myself. In our prior apartment, it slid around nicely in our small kitchen.

Danby Portable Top-Load Washer Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this washer 2 years ago and it is still working great. I had no problems installing it at all despite of the fact that I am a woman:-) It is big enough for 2 people and I had even washed blankets in it. It is easy to wheel it all over the place as long as you don't have carpets in the bathroom or the kitchen:-) I thought that it will be noisy but is actually quiet and it is easy to connect to the sink. The only problem I had (which is more of a problem with my sink faucet than with the machine) is that sometimes it leaks from the faucet but once I replaced the rubber circle inside of the connector it was great. Before the replacement I just stopped the water flow once the machine was full and washing. And I have a portable dishwasher which connects to the same sink using the same adapter so there is no need to change it if you have more than one appliance.

Whynter UIM-155 Stainless Steel Built-In Ice Maker Review

(More customer reviews)We've been looking at ice makers for our RV for quite awhile and were rather shocked at the pricing of some units out there. This appeared to fit both our budget and needs on paper. This Whynter ice maker was ordered on a Friday and it arrived the following Monday with ground shipping. That's what I call fast. Arrive well packaged and with all the accessories.
We installed it right next to the dishwasher and hooked up the water line with no problem. The unit itself looked great and very professional. It's very much like the Uline icemakers but cost a fraction of the price and is every bit as functional. The unit is very compact and fits in almost any nook you can find. After about 20 mins it started cranking out crescent shaped ice. As with all new appliance we tossed out the first few batches just to run the system clean.
We've taken this about 8000 miles around the country to date and it's still working like a charm. It stopped working once and we panicked and called customer support. It's always nice to speak to a live representative from the USA. Turns out that we kinked the waterline and it up and running again in no time.
It's been so good to have around that we actually got a second one for our vacation house. Emphatically recommended as a primary ice making appliance. Shopping on Amazon just gets better each time!
