(More customer reviews)After reading tons of reviews on various Mosquito trap technologies, I was skeptical that this one was any different. Since the price was only around $90 I figured it was the cheapest 'gamble' out there, so I bought it and put it in my backyard, which has been pretty much unusable since June due to the aggressive Mosquito population.
Sure enough, I have emptied hundreds of mosquitos out of the drawer in the 3 weeks I have had it installed. My highest total in a day was 50. My lowest total in a day was 3 when I decided to add an Octenol bait to this trap...which acted as a repellant as far as I can tell. This trap definitely works better in the dark when the little blue lights show up better.
There are still mosquitos in my backyard, and I still get bit. I think mosquito conditions are so bad that even after catching hundreds of them it hasn't had a significant positive effect yet.
One word of advice I would like to give...place this trap away from any area you want to use. I moved it from the yard to my deck for a brief time, and it was a bad idea. All the mosquitos from the yard were on my deck suddenly. Yikes!
We are nearing the end of Mosquito season in Atlanta as cool Fall temperatures arrive, so it will be hard to judge what effect removing a few hundred mosquitos will have. I am anxious to see how the Mosquito Catcher works next summer during the height of the Mosquito frenzy.
Anyway, if you've been wanting something to catch mosquitos with, but have been afraid of the prices, this is a product that can have positive results without breaking the bank.

(More customer reviews)Recently purchased three of these, and tested one right away. I found that it caught many more BENEFICIAL insects than mosquitoes. Not really eager to box up and return-ship the three units, I removed the light bulbs from the test trap and ran it again for a few days. The difference was phenomenal! Not a single good bug, but only the pesky mosquitoes. Have since installed the remaining two traps, and am in the process of searching for additionals to place around the yard, so I can discontinue using our two Mosquito Magnets.
The only slightly-misleading comment in the description of this item is that it can be used indoors and outside. If used outdoors, it MUST be in a covered area, such as a porch, under house eaves, etc. to keep out rain. The description should note this. However, I am extremely pleased with the performance thus far of this product, and will be looking to sell our current two Mosquito Magnets when I find enough replacements for them. Dyna Trap units are much less expensive to run, and much less maintenance as well. Now I will just have to construct some sort of waterproof shelters for the Dyna Traps, so I can place them remotely around the yard.
Would recommend this product highly, to anyone like me who cannot go outside without being attacked by the bloodthirsty little pests!

Bought and am using it now with success. Items that might be useful to your purchase decision are propane (16 days to replacement ($19.60 per tank)), supposed to replace tak-trap (approx. $8) also, plus every 30 days the manual suggests replacing the octonal (fine tune) at $17 each, making the monthly price you will be bitten by is approx. $35 per month in maintenance. Its worth it to us, but with an 8 month season (Florida), it isn't cheap. We find it useful to purchase two tanks and get refills both at once to cut down on tank transfers.
Have tipped it over once (backed into it with the golf cart quite fast) and it broke the plastic retention and cover holder into about three pieces and with some super glue, repaired it and it still works.
You'll also need zappers to be rid of flies and other insects since it doesn't seem help with them.
You'll hear some fan type noise but negligible if over 20' from unit.
All together, satisfied with its operation.
