(More customer reviews)My 29 gallon tank developed a chronic algal bloom that I could not get rid of. The water was murky even after daily 30% water changes. I even removed the snails and plants and used an algicide, which worked quite well - until the algae came back a week later. I was ready to give up and scrap the tank altogether when I found out about this product. It is pricey, but it seemed worth the risk to save the tank, especially after I read the reviews.
IT WORKS.
You need to be using powerheads or a canister filter with 1/2" or 5/8" tubing. After I insterted this into the output line of my canister filter, the floating algae in the water died. Within 24 hours I noticed the water was definitely clearer, as my filter had been able to remove some of the dead algae. After 2 daily water changes, the water became and has stayed CRYSTAL clear, like a brand new tank all over again. Since the dead algae can't reproduce, when it is filtered out or removed in a water change, IT STAYS GONE. The best part is that you don't need to worry about the UV Sanitizer damaging your canister's biological filter, because it sanitizes the water that LEAVES the canister - any nitrifying bacteria trapped in the filter remains unharmed, free to keep breaking down your ammonia.

(More customer reviews)The Turbo Twist unit is well worth the money. I had quite a few parasites that kept coming back and each time I had to spend the money on medicines to rid of them. It got to be a real pain in the butt. With other UV sterilizers on the market and not sure which one to purchase, I took a gamble and bought the Turbo Twist. I have had the unit about 2 years now and can't think of a time since then that I have had problems with diseases or parasites. The product does what it is intended to do. You must have the appropriate water flow from your filter in order for it to work properly though. I have mine installed on my canister filter and it works excellent. It also comes with a nice bracket system so that you can either use the suction cups or screw it into your aquarium stand. I simply screwed the bracket into my aquarium cabinet on the inside so that it is not visible. I also installed quick-disconnects on each end so that I can clean the unit easily without having to dismantle the entire filtration setup. I hope this information helps your decision-making. I highly recommend!!!

(More customer reviews)I took a chance on a relatively new vendor and I'm glad I did. Hats off to the Umbrella Group. Everything went smoothly and the product was delivered in good shape and on time.
I'm very pleased with the unit. I needed a UV filter for a smaller tank with a hanging filter (so an in-line wouldn't work) and was very happy to find this at a great price. It's whisper-quiet and includes a power head for great circulation.
Two small words to the wise:
1) The product is a snap to set up if you're a little mechanically inclined because the instructions that come with it leave something to be desired. The illustrations are microscopic and the text says to see illustrations that don't exist.
2) Make sure you look at ALL the photos before you decide to put this in a smaller tank (20 g or less). It takes up more room than the main picture might lead you to believe but is rated up to 50g.
With that said, I would heartily recommend this to anyone who's ever dealt with an algae bloom (or anyone who doesn't want to).
