(More customer reviews)I was hoping that this would use the existing pump system and be constructed with different materials than styrofoam, however, the main unit appears to be a dense syrofoam piece--per instructions, you need to remove the entire Aerogarden tray and pump system before using this (so you know that those parts will not be used).
My disappointment stems from a setup that wicks than drips--in the regular Aerogarden, the system drips, some settings have a 7 hour drying out period to give roots some time to get air. A wicking setup does not get the period to air out.
This unit appears to resemble a raft / floating hydroponic system--where the plugs wick the nutrient water from the bottom; the floating system always keep the water toucheable from the bottom to wick.
Apparently, the only key part of the Aerogarden used is the automatic lightening and plastic shell as a custom-fit bucket. Otherwise, you probably can let this float in a bucket of similar size and find similar lighting.
I am highly confident that this will work well; however, I would proabably prefer to let my Aerogarden keep working on producing herbs, and find a bucket to let this float in.
Like a raft systems, the underside of strofoam grows funky stuff. Cleaning can sometimes scratch and tear if not gentle or careful. I assume similar care will be needed here.
The concept appears to be sound. I am writing this review to let anyone know what to expect on what they are getting when they order this product--a fancy shaped piece of dense styrofoam, good-fair instructions on use, and nutriet tablets.

(More customer reviews)I received this AeroGarden on December 14th and planted it that night. 16 days later, I'm looking at 1/2-1" sprouts from my phlox, petunias and stock. This garden is simple to set up and use- it takes only a few minutes to get it all going. The water circulation pump is pretty quiet, not distracting at all. Maintenance is a snap, you don't really need to do anything but pop in a nutrient tablet and add more water about once every two weeks.
I'm keeping this in my kitchen, I was hoping to keep it in the bedroom so I could have some nice flowers there, but this garden's lights run on a default 17-hours-on, 7-hours-off schedule, and there's no option to change that (other than a manual on/off button that should see only occasional use)- so unless I want very bright light at some point during my sleep cycle, keeping it in certain locations isn't a good idea. There aren't any options for personalization- just a simple on and off light cycle- so if you're looking for customizing the garden for a certain type of plant or certain nutrient cycle, you'll be better off buying a more complex AeroGarden.
Overall, this is an excellent machine, very easy to use and grow with the AeroGarden kits- I would definitely recommend this to anyone who has trouble growing plants in any other medium (like myself)!

(More customer reviews)This sprouter is the best I have ever used. It is so easy and the quantity of sprouts is fantastic. All you have to do is change the water daily. I use organic sprouts from Mumm's. After sharing samples with friends they are ready to buy their own. Radish sprouts are by far the favourite and if you spin them dry in a salad spinner and store them in a rubbermaid container that has a separate slotted base inside, they keep for up to two weeks or more in the fridge. You can also get an extra tub and grow twice as many at a time. Note: sometimes when using two barrels the sprinkler doesn't like to spin - I've found that if I plug it in and just let it 'prime' for a few seconds, then unplug and replug it in it starts spinning every time. Love this product! I bought mine from Mumm's sprouting seeds before I knew it was available on Amazon. Check out the demo on the Tribest website for a visual demonstration.

(More customer reviews)So easy I'm sorry I waited so long to try it! Living in a small apartment for several years, I've missed having an outdoor garden to grow my own vegetables. This is a great alternative for me. Just remember to run water through it twice a day. (My brother recommends 3/4 trayful of water with 1 tablespoon vinegar, followed by 3/4 trayful of plain water (don't forget to empty the bottom water tray), to supress undesired things such as mold; this is working great and the seeds are sprouting fine.) For seeds I'm using "zesty sprouting mix" from NOW foods.

(More customer reviews)best cloner iv ever used. i keep a small indoor herb and vegetable selection during the winter months. with cloning, i had roots in 4 days. now its sitting on my counter growing fresh mint and basil aeroponically. i used the cartridges from the aerogarden fresh herb kit and they worked fine. it could be a little quieter i guess, but thats only because its on my counter and i notice it. i placed a small tank heating pad on the bottom and it keeps the water around 75 which helped a lot since i keep the kitchen cooler at night.
