(More customer reviews)I first bought one of these for my father for Father's Day. You should know he's a very cynical guy and I kept my fingers crossed that it would meet with his approval! He and my mother often host parties, and he regularly serves ice-blended drinks made in a regular blender (i.e. stawberry daiqueris). His regular blender often left ice chunks that clogged the straw and remained in the bottom of the glass once the drink was finished. Being the cynical perfectionist he is, I bought him the Hamilton Beach Wavestation to see if it would work better. I chose this over the Back-to-Basics smoothie maker because of the poor quality reviews it gets on many sites.
The Wavestation is AWESOME! There is absolutely NO ice chunks, and no hand-stirring necessary because of the "wave action" mixing. Basically, the shape of the container and the blades create a vortex that continually pulls the top of the mix downward, unlike a typical blender that mostly just mixes what's in the bottom.
My hubby and I decided to buy one of these for ourselves too, mostly for fruit slushies for the kids (we don't entertain the way my parents do!). This is, in my opinion, the best smoothie maker option on the market.
NOTE: At first my dad complained that really thick mixes wouldn't come through the front dispenser and he had to pour them. We found this to be true too, but the pouring worked extremely well (no spills). Then I read in the instruction booklet that with thick mixes, try turning ON the machine, dispense, then turn it off again.

(More customer reviews)I chose this one because it was the only one that said that the drinks didn't leak and it was more modestly priced. I certainly got what I paid for... The Bar Butler came with two of it's dispensers broken beyond repair (because if fixed one would leak and the other wouldn't hold the bottle's weight), the pieces were of a cheap plastic... It came halfway assembled but with no instructions to assemble the rest. It looks cheaper than it does in the picture and to make matters even worse I was dumb enough to buy two of them... at least I can make one whole bar butler mixing and matching the pieces from both butlers, to make a whole one that kinda works.

Metrokane Retro Ice Crusher-Stainless Steel with Chrome Top Review

(More customer reviews)First and foremost, this ice crusher does a pretty good job. The top half of the ice crusher is heavy compared to the base so it can be knocked off balance. It does a good job crushing even large ice cubes from the traditional Rubbermaid ice trays. It does not grind the ice into snow but I didn't expect or want it to. One down side is that the finish of the ice reservoir (the bottom half) gets damaged if you put it in the dishwasher. You also can't load a large amount (more than a cup and a half I would think) of ice at a time.

(More customer reviews)I have two of these, a 6 bottle and a 4 bottle, and they are fantastic. Easy to set up, easy to clean, and while there is a little bit of skill to using them - once you have it down that's easy too!
The *only* downside that I ran into is that it can only handle tall skinny bottles - so things like Patron have to be decanted.

Back-to-Basics Smoothie Elite Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I bought the Pro 600 Smoothie Maker for my teenage daughter, who can live on smoothies during the summer. She loves the machine and made 2 or more delicious smoothies a day for about 4 months. Then catastrophe struck. The motor is quite powerful and there is a lot of action going on when it's running (noise too) and apparently the vibration of the machine caused 2 flanges in the bottom of the machine to break off. This caused the strawberry-banana smoothie to flow all over the countertop and floor. It was a huge mess to clean up and left my daughter heartbroken. I have ordered another smoothie maker--the Pro700 stainless, in the hope it can withstand its own vibrating action better than the first. It certainly crushes ice much better than a blender and it does make delicious drinks. My daughter uses frozen berries, bananas, whatever fruit juice is available and sometimes a dab of homemade ice cream in hers. If the new machine holds up, I will give it a 5-star rating. Otherwise, it's off my list forever.

(More customer reviews)It was easy to set up and get going. I love the bean grinder. The doser is great too. You just have to keep and eye on it, it's small. It makes great espresso the first time. It has a disc to help with that. You can remove it and tamp hard the old fasion way. For the price range it's a good buy. I have 3 different types of coffee makers now. This is my favorite. I use it to make American's each morning instead of brewing a pot in the conventional machine
