(More customer reviews)The Gevalia T DISC is very weak compared to home brewing Gevalia ground coffee. Believe it or not the Maxwell House T DISC is actually better, makes a more robust cup of coffee. All the other T DISCs are fabulous - the espresso is just about as good as you would get from a commercial coffee shop. Hot Chocolate is delicious. Hopefully they will re-vamp the Gevalia Signature Blend to make it a better, stronger, more robust cup of coffee like their traditional ground blend.

(More customer reviews)Don't be dissappointed in your machine if this is the first T-disc flavor you've tried. It's not your Tassimo, it's the coffee blend. I used to subscribe to Gevalia's delivery service so I've tried a lot of their automatic drip coffees, incl Signature Blend. I'm very dissapointed in the Tassimo disc version. I gave it 2 stars just for smoothness, but otherwise this is a lackluster brew. Not much richness, body, or flavor other than generic "coffee". The "crema" is not much more than window dressing on a pretty boring cup. My husband, who is far less picky about coffee than I am, agreed. Do yourself a favor & try the other coffees available for the Tassimo, incl on their website. The Gevalia Espresso is good, so are the Maxwell House Latte & Capuccino.

(More customer reviews)I got this free from a Gevalia offer - bought 2 pounds of coffee, didn't even have to pay s/h. I liked the looks of it - we got the black with stainless steel.
That said, I would never have paid any amount of money for this. The first one broke within a week. It worked for a few days. Then, the coffee came out cold. Then, it stopped working completely.
Gevalia sent a free replacement (the guy on the phone admitted, off the record, that these things break often). They didn't need the old one back, so I opened it up to see if it could be repaired (a hobby of mine).
No surprise that ALL the parts came from Asia. I also discovered that BOTH the pump and the heating element broke, separately. So even if I fixed/replaced the pump, the coffee would still come out cold. This is quite amazing to me, since my previous coffee maker still works after nearly 20 years, and after having been dropped many times. Oddly, the wiring was sturdy & just fine (side note: a high percent of appliance problems/failures are simply frayed wires, which can be easily mended with electrical tape, even by a novice, in under 5 minutes).
The replacement unit came & works (almost 2 years old now). But I still have major problems with it:
Pros:
* Stainless/black steel looks sleek
* Digital clock
* Auto-shutoff
* Reservoir float indicator is nice
Cons:
* "Pause & pour" does NOT work well. Only works 50% of the time, again, due to bad design. The rest of the time it makes a huge mess. This was the case on both my units.
* The stainless finish gets dirty easily
* There is no backup battery, so the clock resets every time you unplug the unit.
* The pump will definitely not last long - it's overworked due to poor design/layout.
* Because it's a top-load pump & filter, the steam comes up through the top. You cannot change the filter for 20 minutes, without risk of scalding yourself. It would be very difficult to make 2 consecutive pots of coffee (i.e., if you have guests). Plus, the excessive steam warped the cabinets above the unit.
* The worst problem - the reservoir is only about 1" in diameter. It's impossible to load it without spilling.-> Bottom line: Looks nice, but I've never heard of such a difficult, problematic coffee maker. This almost seems like a practical joke by some engineers, or perhaps designed by someone who has never used a coffee maker before. Avoid this one.

Spent about 2 hours trying things, reading support stuff on the internet, trying new things, and finally giving up. First, the Gevalia Coffee Pod Brewer wouldn't prime as the instructions said. Hints from other buyers said it needed to be reprimed 15-20 times before it actually started to pump water. Once that got going, it took about 25 cups worth before it would output clean, clear water. It seems that the culprit responsible for both problems is too much grease in the tubes during assembly. I really hope it's a food-grade grease or oil. As we were starting to get clear water out of the machine, it decided to quit metering the water. It doesn't matter which setting is chosen, the 6, 8, or 12-oz size, the machine will run through the entire reservoir of water and try to keep going. While furiously pumping water it seems the pump itself moves more water than the rest of the machine can handle as water leaks from base of the machine and runs all over the counter and onto the floor. What's most surprising to me about this is that other buyers describe the exact same issues with the Gevalia Coffee Pod machines they bought. I'd think it has got to be a crazy isolated incident with all the problems in one unit, but no! Lots of buyers on the Woot forums have these issues. We've boxed this machine up and have ordered a Senseo machine. I sincerely hope it's a better product, and I hope I can get a refund on the Gevalia.

The only reason we did not purchase another one exactly like our old one is because of the leaking problem. About 1x/year we would need to replace the 'carafe' portion of the coffeemaker. The Summit was the 3rd replacement model we tried. It is the only other model that has all of the features that the Deluxe had (programmable auto shut-off & timer, brewing cycle selection). I agree with the previous post that it is a bit more awkward to fill. But, the biggest problem I have with it is the coffee basket. It has about 50 holes in the bottom for the water/coffee to flow out of the basket. The result is a very weak-tasting coffee because it flows through so quickly. I can't understand why this model is made like this when other models have only one hole! There is no way to even use enough coffee to get a strong flavor, even when putting it on 'Bold' setting, which slows down the brewing cycle. I figured out how to solve this problem by purchasing a permanent filter basket to use inside the other basket, plus using a paper filter. This adds to the awkwardness of the whole process, but we are so hooked on this style of machine that are willing to put up with it. It is also messier than the Deluxe because of all of the condensation inside. When you lift the lid water runs down (but mostly back into the carafe), and when you take out the basket there is condensation all over it and it drips trying to get it to the trash or sink. I also just noticed one of the buttons to set the time is sticking. Well, maybe I should go back to the Deluxe...

(More customer reviews)Doing research, I found that "crema" is the froth or foam that comes out of some espresso machines. Being thicker, espresso can create more foam or froth when it brews in commercial coffee shop machines, and this foam or froth (called "crema") is enjoyed for it's own qualities in Europe as it floats atop the espresso.
The Signature Crema Coffee t-discs from Gevalia creates a slightly smaller sized cup of coffee with a "head" on it. The Tassimo machines are capable of pumping air through the water, creating froth or foam. Creamer discs usually take advantage of this to make cappucino with frothed cream. The crema coffees, like this one, froth the brew, giving a good amount of foam. The roast is relatively smooth and a little stronger than the Signature Blend, and the serving size a little smaller. Most likely, it brews a little less coffee so as not to dilute the froth, and that gives it a slightly stronger flavor.
If you like coffee with a head or froth on it, these will yield good results. I keep a few on hand for novelty or a change of pace (or when I forget and run out of the regular coffee). Crema is a different type of coffee though as the air being pumped through the brew does alter it slightly. If you enjoy coffee with cream and sugar, you most likely will not enjoy this. If you enjoy black coffee, then chances are much better you'll appreciate this one.

(More customer reviews)I've tried several of the various coffees for Tassimo machines; Gevalia, Henry's, Starbucks, Maxwell House, Carte Noir. The Gevalia Signature Blend is my favorite. I wouldn't consider it a mild coffee, I think it's a bit closer to medium. It has a rich flavor that doesn't come across as being burnt or bitter (like some other coffees do), and is quite smooth. The discs control the temperature and size of the serving, and I find these discs to be quite good in those regards, making a hot cup of coffee that fills a mug to a comfortable level. I've owned my machine for over three years now, and these discs have consistently brewed an excellent cup of coffee. I heartily recommend them.
