(More customer reviews)I was excited to try this new flavor made for Senseo machines. I love Senseo's Paris and Vienna flavors, so thought this would be good. My husband and I find the taste to be artificial. It doesn't remind us of Creme Brulee. The aftertaste is somewhat bitter. I'm using these up, adding lots of fat-free half and half to cover the taste, but I won't repurchase. In my opinion, Douwe Egberts makes flavored coffees with more appealing taste.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this little machine after spending a fortune (.50) for each 8 oz. cup of coffee using the Senseo coffee pods. This Pod Maker is marvelous! Not only does it make pods using whatever coffee you like, it makes pods for an 8 oz. cup of coffee! Senseo pods only make a 4 oz. cup of coffee, so you have to use two pods if you want to have a decent size cup of joe. You fill the pod, fold over its top over the coffee, and then seal the pod in 2 to 3 seconds with the pod maker. Incredibly simple. I also have used the Ecopads, which are great also. However, you have to empty and clean the Ecopads each time you use them. It also takes 2 Ecopads to make 8 oz. of coffee. The Perfect Pod Coffee Pod Maker is the better choice.

(More customer reviews)I purchased this awhile ago. It does work well and for the reviewers that are saying they are having a problem with it sealing, they are doing something wrong. You have to be very careful when filling the pods with the coffee. You cannot get any coffee in the area where it will get sealed otherwise it will not seal properly. This product does, in fact work very well. But, the cost of the filters and the shipping is crazy. Don't waste your money on this. I learned my lesson. Get the Coffeeduck. You pay once and do not have to invest in filters. Works very well, still get the great cream and rich flavor of your own coffee.

Spent about 2 hours trying things, reading support stuff on the internet, trying new things, and finally giving up. First, the Gevalia Coffee Pod Brewer wouldn't prime as the instructions said. Hints from other buyers said it needed to be reprimed 15-20 times before it actually started to pump water. Once that got going, it took about 25 cups worth before it would output clean, clear water. It seems that the culprit responsible for both problems is too much grease in the tubes during assembly. I really hope it's a food-grade grease or oil. As we were starting to get clear water out of the machine, it decided to quit metering the water. It doesn't matter which setting is chosen, the 6, 8, or 12-oz size, the machine will run through the entire reservoir of water and try to keep going. While furiously pumping water it seems the pump itself moves more water than the rest of the machine can handle as water leaks from base of the machine and runs all over the counter and onto the floor. What's most surprising to me about this is that other buyers describe the exact same issues with the Gevalia Coffee Pod machines they bought. I'd think it has got to be a crazy isolated incident with all the problems in one unit, but no! Lots of buyers on the Woot forums have these issues. We've boxed this machine up and have ordered a Senseo machine. I sincerely hope it's a better product, and I hope I can get a refund on the Gevalia.

(More customer reviews)Having tried eco-pads and the Presto, this is the best yet!
Too much water bypasses the coffee with the eco-pads, and they are a PITA to clean by comparison. The water flow is too fast with the Presto, not having the restrictor orifice to slow things down and allow enough contact time with the coffee. Plus you have to buy or make your own filter papers to boot! It's correct contact time, water temperature and passing the brewed coffee at pressure through an orifice that gives you the good crema, somewhat similar a true espresso maker.
Clean up is quick, if only somewhat more messy than pods, but way more economical in the long run than buying pods or pod filter papers to fill yourself.
The espresso grind French Roast from Peet's works perfect with the 'Duck, giving you a brew that looks like Guinness on tap while filling your cup and ending with a fine bubble crema. It's robust without being bitter. You'll end up with slightly less brew because the flow rate through 'Duck is lower. The best cup of coffee I've ever had out the Senseo.
Start with a standard measure of coffee, make sure the grind is "fluffed" up and not compressed in any way when you measure. Do not tamp or pack the grind in any way or overfill the 'Duck or you WILL end up with a mess! Don't ask me how I know. :^)
Your Senseo should not sound erratic or leak while brewing, if it does you either have too much, too fine of grind or have packed the grind in the 'Duck.

Update 6/8/2010. The Duck finally gave up the ghost after LOTS of cups of coffee. The failures were the top screen deforming (first problem), most likely from the brew temp plus the pressure from the spring tab that holds it down in the Senseo , then the o-ring that sits under the bottom screen deteriorated (fatal!). This allows coffee grinds to slip past the screen and plug the orifice. I noted that the plastic frame of the bottom screen had deformed also. These are plastic/rubber bits that are exposed to acidic liquid (coffee) and high temps. My water also has low pH, so that didn't help either. This first Duck outlasted the Senseo though.:-)
Ordered my replacement Duck tonight!

(More customer reviews)I have tried them all...all the brands on Amazon, that is. Some have been less than thrilling and some pretty good. The Senseo Espresso Coffee Pods are the best I have found. You can make a great cup of coffee...I wouldn't really call it espresso with the convenience of a pod. I read a tip somewhere on Amazon about wetting both sides of the pod and it was the best tip I got in 2008. The resulting coffee is rich and full flavored, without bitterness. I think I will stick with Senseo Espresso. I did not use the special espresso pod, just the usual one pod holder, and it worked fine.

(More customer reviews)This is a great cup of coffee for the Tassimo. I'm so delighted that Amazon has finally started carrying the European and Canadian brands and this one does not disappoint.
The taste is great - not bitter, and probably more on the lighter side than the stronger side (despite the very dark color of the final product). For the American folk - be warned: be sure to stand by the Tassimo to utilize the manual mode (for those who don't know, you can push the button when it blinks manual to add more brew). This Jacobs Kroenung Coffee, T-Discs for Tassimo Coffeemakers, 16-Count Packages (Pack of 2) [Amazon Frustration-Free Packaging] t-disc makes about a 6 oz brew and I added some additional to make a full American cup with no issue.
When I first put in my normal amount of creamer (I use a sugar free Coffeemate Hazelnut) it was a little overkill, which suggests a slightly lighter coffee than my old mainstay, the Gevalia Crema.
All in all, a great little cup. I will be keeping these in my pantry for frequent use!

(More customer reviews)I am so happy that Amazon is now carrying the international coffee blends for Tassimo. This coffee is hands-down my favorite and only preference for the Tassimo machine. This is a very common blend of coffee, very similar in taste to Maxwell House but without the hangover effect I seem to get from Maxwell House. It is a Canadian Columbian blend coffee established in the late 1800s much like the beginnings of Maxwell House. It just seems to have a smoother taste and no after effect of a headache or upset stomach, like I tend to get with Maxwell House. I am drinking Maxwell House now because I simply am out of Nabob and was not ready to reorder, yet. At this great price, I am not hesitating to order-up!
Visitors to my house do enjoy Seattle's Best Henry's Blend and Starbucks Verona, if they prefer a stronger blend of coffee. Starbucks is the strongest and needs dilution for some, though. If you consider the Jacobs' discs, the Monarch is much like a demi-cup (small) of an Austrian chocolate-hint coffee. Kroenig is for those who know and prefer the german taste. The coffees and lattes from Jacob's are light tasting in my opinion. I prefer a capuccino from a very upscale machine rather than those from Tassimo, but the Gevalia brand does suffice for caps, lattes, and hazelnut flavor coffee. Jacobs' tends to be quite listless in taste.
For hot chocolate, the Milka german brand is good because it adds a creamer. While the Suchard is a non-creamy packaged hot chocolate sweetened with Splenda. They both suffice for out of the box style hot-chocolate.
Tassimo is a great "get-you-by" in the morning machine. It is decent, efficient, and reliable. If you like caps from machines like Miele or Nepresso or if you like good beans in a morning press, you will be dissapointed with Tassimo. Tassimo is what it is, a good one-cupper and Nabob is a smooth daily coffee that is definitely my favorite.

Ecopad, the Refillable Coffee Filter for the Classic Senseo Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my Senseo machine over 2 years ago (when they first came out) as an alternative to splurging on a much pricier machine after my mediocre Krups espresso maker died. While I loved the Senseo concept, I was disapointed with the coffee, even when I used the pods I bought from supposedly Gourmet suppliers, and considered spending the bucks on a true pump espresso machine. THEN I FOUND THE ECOPADS!! While I was a bit skeptical, (at that time they were only available from some obscure website--I think in the Netherlands) I took a chance and paid $13 + shipping for 2 pads. I loved them. So I bought two more for when the first two wore out, but the first pair are still going strong after two years of almost daily use!
TIPS FOR SIMPLE FLAWLESS PEFORMANCE: (1) Use a burr grinder to grind your coffee (whether at home or the store). I already had a "burr" coffee grinder when I got these. Unlike the grinders with spinning blades, burr grinders actually grind the coffee, resulting in a consistent size of grind (unlike the blade models which produce a combination of powder and granules). Mine allows you to adjust that grind. The finest is espresso, the most coarse is for a French Press. I have mine set about halfway between Espresso (finest) and drip (medium) and I get a rich cup of coffee every time. (2) Use good coffee--i.e., coffee you like! I use Pete's Major Dickason's Blend. (3) You do do not need to wet the pads, or to have them dry, either. While they are a tad easier to fill dry, they are simple to fill when wet (i.e. just rinsed out), too. And, if you happen to overfill them, I just mash the top down (which seems to push the coffee out of the way) and brush away any excess grinds (if pad is dry) or rinse the closed pad quickly under the faucet (if pad is wet). In either case, you must insure not to have stray coffee on the outside of the pad or it can block the little hole in the Senseo "pod holder" thereby locking the machine up (you won't be able to open the handle easily and don't try--unless you want a hot grounds explosion--just let it sit for 10+ minutes to lose pressure, then open). (4) If you like your coffee strong, push the single cup button. If you prefer it weaker, the two cup button. I like strong coffee and use two pads to make one cup every morning. (5) I never use soap on them, after my Italian friend's coffee aficianado father convinced me that soap should never touch the part of the maker that accepts coffee--only rinse with water.
I wrote lengthy dissertation as I promised myself I would someday put up a good review of this excellent product and now that I am ordering my sister a Senseo and these pads for her birthday, I am making good on that promise!!! Whew!

(More customer reviews)I've had a Tassimo machine (not the same one) for nearly four years now, and have tried most if not all of the discs available through Amazon. While I haven't been thrilled with any of the other Maxwell House discs particularly (I like a strong cup of coffee, but there are a wide variety of preferences on this issue), I've been very, very pleased with the French Roast. It gives a strong but smooth brew and you can't beat the price--at the time I'm writing this you can get 2 packs of 16 discs of the MH French Roast for under $14, compared to 2 packs of 12 discs for more than $20 for the Starbucks blends. I still buy Starbucks, particularly the Africa Kitamu, and Seattle's Best, particularly Henry's Blend, because I like variety in my cup of Joe, but MH's French Roast is great choice, especially if you have multiple coffee drinkers in the house and need to keep plenty of discs on hand while still keeping within your food budget!

(More customer reviews)My Senseo finally died and I didn't feel like buying a new one. A friend told me about this little one cup coffee maker that uses Senseo coffee pods so I bought one. So far it works like a gem. Sure it's a bit "plasticy" and cheap feeling but it makes me a mug of coffee on demand and is letting me use my collection of various Senseo (and other) coffee pods. A small mug is the largest you can fit under the spout so be forewarned about not being able to use a tall mug. Device allows for one or two pods. I'm pleased with it.
