The game is slow. When you fold you have to wait for the hand to finish and it can take some time. Also it is hard to see in bright light. It is not made of good quality. Otherwise fine.

BonJour Frother, Automatic Battery Powered Primo Latte with Stand, Silver/Black Review

BonJour Frother, Automatic Battery Powered Primo Latte with Stand, Silver/Black

Update: 2010
Still going strong; however, I have some reservations about the stand. After several years of use, I now feel that the stand is too easily tipped over (but only because accidents do happen--if you never brushed against it, the stand wouldn't tip over), and that led to a bent "wand" when the frother hit the floor. I just received the Aerolatte as a gift (available also at Amazon.com) and am very pleased with it. However, I've only had it a few days; the reliable Bonjour frother worked well for over four years, and was slightly bent only because of an accident. Still make a fantastic (and relatively inexpensive) gift for the coffee connoisseur or the casual cocoa fan! Still highly recommendedbut you might want to compare this with the Aerolatte on features and price. Happy drinking!

Update: Feb 20, 2006
I've upgraded this from a 4.5 to a full 5* since purchasing it back in December. Initially, it seemed difficult to insert the batteries, but the Primo Frother is still going strong after almost 2 months of daily use!
I've come to appreciate a few other features, as well:
*I measured 3 ounces of milk, used the frother, and poured the froth back into a measuring cup. The foam measured close to 10 ounces; the Primo more than tripled the volume!
*The rather flimsy looking stand actually works very well, holding the frother in place without tipping over.
*It's extremely easy to clean: Just run it a few seconds under water.
*It's very useful for mixing powders (e.g., chocolate) into liquids.
*With just a little practice, you can make all manner of foams, from a light froth to a very dense topping that's almost like meringue! It's all in the angle and the depth of the frother within the drink container.
This is undoubtedly the Holiday gift we use most, and I recommend it enthusiastically. (Also available (for a little over $10 more) as a rechargeable unit, though I don't think that's as important as I originally thought.) The review I wrote after only a few days of use is next:Original Review
The Bonjour frother, like any frother worth its salt, does an incredibly good job of injecting lots of air into your cup of milk, resulting in a thick foam that can be poured over coffee, milk, or the creative beverage of your choice. That little round wire wisk is powerful, creating a tiny whirlpool as it quietly works.
Operation.
You put the round end directly into a cup, and turn it on by holding down a very large black oval-shaped area on the frother's body. If you let go, it will stop after a few seconds--this can be useful if you want just small bursts of power. However, most people want the full whipping experience, hold it down and about 45-60 second later, a change is gonna come. The milk, previously still quite liquid--although shot through with lots of tiny air bubbles--begins to thicken (as when you make meringue). This induces a small pre-coffee high. After awhile, the foamy milk becomes so thick that the frother slows noticeably. You may be tempted to lift it from your cup to the thinner liquid, but resist this temptation: You could wind up splattering your kitchen.
Uses of Foamy Milk.
There are no hard and fast rules here, but, as stated above, froth can be poured over coffee for the classico cafe latte, over espresso (a subset of coffee, I suppose), over smoothies and desserts and whatever else you can think of. Add some Torani flavored syrup, get or make some biscoti, and enjoy the glory that is Rome. (Fortunately, a brief recipe book comes with the frother to stimulate ideas.) You can even froth your drink AFTER you poured the froth into it, but purists may scoff. I think it's a nice alternative, and it's extremely useful when your chocolate mix won't blend with milk.
Maintenance.
The frother cleans extremely easily, and you can hang it to dry in the enclosed stand. The latter was a pleasant surprised; I expected it to tip easily, but--contrary to some other reports here--it didn't. Of course, you need to place it in with some coordination and balance, but the inexpensive little stand works admirably.
Batteries and How to Insert Them.
The frother runs on 2 AA batteries (need I add that they are not included), and herein lies the single drawback: Closing the frother after inserting the batteries is not as easy as it should be. You have to push a tab on each side AND fit the end of the battery container into a slot at the end of the frother, and it takes patience and practice. If you have opened an electric razor to change the blades, and had difficulty closing it, you'll know what I mean. Suffice it to say that you DO NOT WANT TO FORCE anything, or else the tabs may break. Slowly but surely does it (or ask your clever neighbor); once you "get it," it probably won't be a problem anymore.
Ergonomics and Apppearance.
It fits nicely in your hand, and it's light, but the ergonomic advantages are somewhat overstated by Bonjour. The contrast of matte black and "brushed" aluminum looks good, and the frother is compact.
I give this a small deduction for the battery learning curve, but otherwise, a very useful small appliance. Primo, dude.

Bodum Schiuma Battery-Operated Turbo Milk Frother, Metal Review

Bodum Schiuma Battery-Operated Turbo Milk Frother, Metal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the second version of this stirrer that I have owned. The previous black plastic version lasted several years with daily use. I anticipate that this newer design will do so as well.
This new metal cased stirrer feels a bit more substantial in the hand and the brushed aluminum case is a bit more secure in your grip than the original plastic case item was if you have wet hands. The stirring attachment at the end of the wand is updated from an "impeller" design to a coiled metal ring design. At first I was not happy that my new stirrer would be different in this way, but with the first use it proved to be a superior mixing apparatus. It mixes the beverage as throughly as the old style did, but does so without creating the whirlpool effect as quickly. Therefore, short bursts with the stirrer will completely mix your beverage without the tendency to overflow. Of course, if you stick it in there and turn it on uninterrupted, you will make a mess. Technology can do only so much to help you.
Batteries last well in this (it uses AA's) and the base seals well to keep moisture out. It's not perfect, but easily acceptable.
My only improvement wish for this item would be for an included wall mount of some sort that the user could hang the item on after use so that the wand could dry without moisture running down it and into the motor base (as happens when it is stood on it's base after use). Over time, that little bit of moisture each day causes enough corrosion of the motor contacts and switch contacts that the item will fail. Figure out how to store it upright and it should last forever.

BonJour Frother, Rechargeable Primo Latte with Electric Base Review

BonJour Frother, Rechargeable Primo Latte with Electric Base
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The one bit of very important information that is not stated anywhere (in the description OR in the reviews here, until this one) is that this is no different than any other 2-AA battery powered frother. It simply has 2 PERMANENTLY MOUNTED (non user replaceable) nickel cadmium 1.2 volt 600 ma AA batteries inside of it.
This means that if you store it on the counter in the charger after every use, it will quickly develop the dreaded "memory effect" of nickel cadmium batteries (i.e., if you use it for only one minute at a time before recharging it, the batteries begin to "think" that they only have enough power for one minute).
Since these batteries aren't user replaceable, the item quickly becomes JUNK.
You could get the exact same thing by purchasing a standard 2-AA battery powered frother, then using NiCad AA batteries in it. A better option would be to use nickel metal hydride AA batteries, as those would run at 1.3 volts, and not suffer from a memory effect. They would also hold more power, as 600 ma in an AA is a VERY low standard nowadays. (Most NiMH AA batteries are available at 1800 ma at the lowest and go up to 2900 ma.)
Better yet is to just use a regular 2-AA battery powered frother with regular alkaline 1.5 volt batteries in it, as that will give you the best performance AND have user replaceable batteries. (You could even use lithium AA if you wanted something stronger still.)
Avoid this garbage item.

I have only used this nut chopper a few times, and only on walnuts which are fairly soft nuts. It has never been dropped. It is already cracked, chunks of the plastic are starting to fall away. It is only a matter of a few more sessions before it is useless.

mypressi TWIST Handheld Espresso Maker Review

I ordered my Twist last summer after reading a review of one on another site. Amazon had it on sale for $99 instead of the regular $150 so I snatched it up. I have a feeling they were on sale to get rid of the old models in stock. After I bought mine I saw the design had changed a bit. The new models now had indicators on the top to show how many shots of coffee you made to help keep track of how much gas was left in the cartridge. I had a problem with mine after a couple weeks. As soon as I put a new gas cartridge in, all the air would immediately blow out. I contacted the company and they had me ship it back to them. In about a week they sent me a brand new unit that was also the new design and I haven't had a problem with it since. Great customer service. I'm new to espresso making so I'm still experimenting. I bought a Gaggia bean grinder to go with it and I've been making some pretty good shots of espresso lately. I've also tried heating up different alcohols to run through the unit and I've had some good luck making a shot of espresso with Grand Marnier instead of water. It's a great little gadget for those who love coffee.

Aerolatte 1 Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chrome Review

Aerolatte 1 Stainless-Steel Deluxe Edition Frother with Stand, Chrome
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I must admit, when I first heard of these immersion frothers, I was very skeptical. I had tried many frothers, cappuccino machines with built in frothers (work great first 2 times, then they always clog) and plunger frothers (can you say carpal tunnel syndrome??) etc. After much time AND much effort, there was very little reward, almost no froth and much frustration, not to mention cleanup. I tried the plunger types repeatedly to the point where I was sure I'd have blisters. Did I mention having to disassemble & clean all the frother parts after? :o)
So began my quest for an easy, effective way to obtain cappuccino style froth for my morning java. I searched java junkie message boards and decided to give the Aerolatte a try. I couldn't have been more amazed and pleased.
This little gadget runs on 2 AA batteries (included) and comes with a metal counter stand so it's easily accessible. I unboxed it and gave it a whirl, seemed sturdy and surprisingly fast. Now for the coffee test. Hmmm. So I brewed a pot (french press) of strong coffee and poured a little half & half in my mug and let 'er rip. All I can say is AWESOME!! I was totally shocked at how quick and easy the Aerolatte whipped it into froth. Seriously, comparable to the froth from Starbucks. I couldn't believe it.
The instructions recommend skim or low fat milk, which also frothed up just as thick and rich. Wow!!!! When you are finished, run the unit under under the faucet or in a cup of water to clean. Incredibly cool that you create the froth right in your coffee mug. Simple as that, no extra equipment to clean.
Be brave, experiment a little. I prefer heating my mug with sugar & half & half in the microwave for 30 seconds, froth for about 30 seconds & pour in coffee. Voila Coffee house quality cappuccino and no pots or tubes to clean. Pretty spectacular!
Details: Gotta admit, the stand that arrived with mine is cool to look at, very high-tech, but poorly designed & a tad annoying as you need 2 hands to remove the frother or put it back in. Ok, but not ideal. Luckily, Aerolatte must have realized this, as they have since redesigned the stand & replaced with an even cooler (hopefully more functional) design.
The battery life is excellent (at least 4 weeks of daily use), however I would recommend investing in rechargeable batteries and charger, as the unit is much more efficient and faster with strong batteries.
My first Aerolatte burned out after a little over a year of heavy usage. I loved it so much I purchased another. The price is reasonable as my unit was packaged with the unit, stand and matching shaker for toppings (cinnamon, cocoa, etc)
Highly recommended. You will not be disappointed! Bravo Aerolatte
