(More customer reviews)Although it promised to be all I needed, it was a huge disappointment when comparing the readings with another Mark of Fitness BP and an old Braun BP devices. The MF-77 was not as accurate and always measuring a little less than the other two. Later, at my cardiologist office he tested it and told me not to use it.
The PC interface is very basic, it uses an RS-232 interface and is compatible only with one of my computers (an old P3 IBM Thinkpad laptop). Unfortunately it is not compatible with any other of my P4 computers, not at home or at the office. I have tried 6 different computers and it can't connect. It always asks me to connect the BP device (obviously it is connected!).
Because I bought it in Brazil, it was amazingly difficult to get anybody from Mark of Fitness to even respond to any of my many emails/phone calls. In fact, I had to call long distance 8 times before being able to talk to somebody (commercial director) that said would take care of the issue. Some time later he said that "good news, there seems to be more people complaining about it and it might be an issue with Windows XP second edition". This was "good news" for him because their parent company Nikkei would try to check into the issue. Needless to say that after weeks and months of emails and phone calls I got no response at all. By the way, the IBM P3 is running Windows XP SP2 and is for some unknown reason the only computer in which the interface works well always.
The interface software is dated 2002 and hasn't been updated since. Customer support is limited to a refund (if you life in the United States). In fact, Mark of Fitness is a very little company that represents a Japanese manufacturer and had two digits extensions numbers on their PBX!.
It's a true shame. Obviously after several months of waiting and not getting any response to my emails, I gave up and got another device from another company. By the way, I didn't pay 74.95 for the MF-77 with the MF-577 interface, but almost US$ 200 at the Brazilian Free shop, so it was extremely painful for me to just give up and drop it in my "to-use-the-parts-if-ever-required" box.

I was very impressed and wanted to but it but I was low on cash so I waited till I had the money and bought the professional version. It comes with a wonderful DVD and the receipe book is just out of this world. This mixer does everything but cook a steak on the BBQ. The DVD explains all the things it can do like make soup and bread dough. I thought I was just going to make fresh fruit with wheat germ, honey and soy protein drinks. I was totally wrong. And I'm glad I am because it is worth every penny. Make sure you get the DVD and book with any model you choose it is worth it. I love mine and I'm sure you will too. I use it every day and clean up takes seconds.

Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Pro Review

(More customer reviews)Ok, I actually bought this juicer before I read the reviews for this one (Power Juicer Pro) and the other J.LaLanne juicers (Power Juicer, Power Juicer Deluxe). I had wanted one for at least 15 years and put if off due to the cost. So now I have one, and I love it! Like I wrote, I read the reviews after I paid for it already. But alot of the negative reviews were so terribly written and most of the people couldn't even spell - I mean like the word "vegetable"! So I dismissed most of them as uninformed or lacking. And sure enough! If you read the owner's booklet, and use the product properly, you will not have any problems with it. Here are my responses to some of the problems listed by other reviews (this includes all J.LaLanne Power Juicer models):
"Strainer is plastic on the 'Pro'" - No, it isn't. Maybe it used to be when this review was written (?).
"I made 2 quarts of juice, then my juicer started leaking out the sides" - uhm, again if you read the booklet, you should only be making a couple of glasses at a time - one quart max. - then you will need to clean the strainer as the pulp will clog up the strainer and cause juice to back up into the machine. This juicer is not designed to hold liquid.
"The motor shaft sheared off when I tightened the blade onto it". The booklet states to be careful when tightening on the blade as this can cause the shaft to shear. This may be a legitimate problem with the product and this shaft ShouLD be metal, not plastic. So far, I have had no problems, and am very careful not to tighten too hard.
"I put in radishes and they blew out the pulp chute". The booklet states to follow small items immediately with larger ones to keep this from happening. I have not had a problem with small items such as radishes.
"The spout leaks all over the place". Again, I have had no problems with the spout.
"It is hard to clean and the little brush they give you does nothing". This product is EXTREMELY easy to clean. The brush works very well on the strainer. A power water sprayer also works wonders. Additional advice is to clean right after juicing, or right after you enjoy your juice. Naturally, if you let the juicer sit uncleaned, the pulp and juice residue will get dry and hard and be difficult to get off. If you clean it right away, it is a breeze and shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes to clean the five pieces.
This juicer also comes with two juice recipe books and one juice and pulp recipe book (muffins, soups, and such).

Omega Juicer Model O2 Review

(More customer reviews)I did SO much research on the Internet before finding that there are 2 small juicers available, and that both get good reviews. One is this one and the other is the L'equip mini. This model is newer so it didn't have as many reviews, so I couldn't decide. I called up one of the Internet sites and asked which they suggested. They said that Omega has a great reputation and stands by their products better than the other company. If you read the reviews of the L'equip 221 you'll see that that company is horrible if you have a problem with your juicer.
I just got the juicer today. You can get free shipping, so shop around.
Pros:
QUIET (much quieter than my blender), EFFICIENT, EASY TO CLEAN, EXTREMELY WELL BUILT
Juicer is GREAT!! It comes assembled and you can rinse out the parts and try it out in like 5 minutes.
From my research I knew that dry pulp shows it's an efficient machine, and that frothy juice is a negative - from supposed oxidation. I'd call it oxygenization, since air gets into the juice from being centrifuged.
Anyway, my own pulp test was fine. My first juice batch had moist pulp but when I pushed the veggies into the chamber more lightly the pulp was surprisingly dry.
Put a plastic bag, like the kind you put your veggies in, into the pulp catcher as a liner and you'll reduce your mess by a lot. The thing disassembles quickly and easily. I use a veggie brush to clean the screen and the whole thing cleans up in like 5 minutes. The messiest thing for me was the inside of the plastic top.
There was a little froth on the top of the juice, but nothing more than you get at a juice stand, and I'm not sure I believe this is a problem anyway.
The parts are very solid. The mesh filter basket is well built and the blade is very thick and solid, especially compared to food processor blades. The bowl is also stainless.
Highly recommend. Solid build, dry pulp when you get the right technique, and Omega stands by its products.
MAY BE CON:
Not sure about the froth issue. It didn't seem very frothy to me, but if you're used to the classic Champion juicers it may be more than you've had before. I'm just an inexperienced juicer and can't really tell whether this thing makes a lot or a little. Doesn't seem like a lot to me but I have nothing to compare it to.

Tristar JLPJB Jack LaLanne Power Juicer Review

(More customer reviews)This juicer is one of the worst juicers I've ever used. Don't be fooled by the claims made during the infomercial. This juicer barely has the ability to shred the produce fed into it, much less efficiently extract the any juice from the pulp. Worst of all, it is actually dangerous to use. It all comes down to poor design.
The primary flaw with this juicer is that the feed tube directs its contents into the center of the shredding blade where it spins the slowest. To make matters worse, the teeth at the center of the shredding blade are arranged in the same circular path. This tooth arrangement fails to generate any shredding action between the blades, and only grinds circular groves in the produce. Thus, the produce tends feed very slowly, or actually stalls in the grind tube. This slowed feeding action also seems to cause the centrifuge basket to slow down, and clog up. I'm not exactly sure why this happens, but I suspect it may have something to do with the produce binding between the bottom edge of the feed tube and the center of the shredding blade. Obviously, once the centrifuge basket gets clogged, less juice is extracted, the pulp is wetter, and more juice ends up in the pulp receptacle.
The second flaw is that the pulp is only discharged into the pulp receptacle from one side of the shredding /centrifuge chamber. This tends to cause the pulp to linger in the centrifuge basket, and compounds the clogging problem. Once the centrifuge basket gets clogged, the pulp begins to stick to the inside of the shredding /centrifuge chamber, and eventually seems to make its way into the juice catch basin.
The third flaw is that juice catch basin is flat on the bottom, and does not drain well. Pulp particles in the juice tend to settle on the bottom the juice catch basin, and eventually may stop the juice from draining. When this occurs, juice will flow over the inside lip of the juice catch basin, and stream down the motor housing. Wait; it gets worse! Since the motor's cooling vents are on the sides of the motor housing directly below the juice catch basin, juice escaping from the juice catch basin tends to flow into the motor housing through the cooling vents creating an electrical hazard.
Not flaws, but worth mentioning:
When the juice catch basin is installed, and the shredding blade spun onto the drive shaft before the centrifuge basket is installed, it will be very difficult to uninstall the shredding blade because there is no way to stop the drive shaft from rotating.
Since the feed tube is located in close proximity to the drain spout & juice cup, small produce items sometimes fall into the juice cup during the juicing process.

Green Star GS-1000 Juice Extractor Review

(More customer reviews)I've been juicing since the early 1990s and more recently, as a certified raw foods associate chef, have been preparing a wider range of juicer recipes including pates and ice cream from frozen bananas. I have experience with Green Star, Champion, Juiceman, and several other juicers, and have read quite a bit about various models of juicers. If you are going to be juicing a lot of greens such as kale and parsley, the Green Star will give you a better and more nutritious yield than any juicer on the market. It far exceeds masticating juicers such as the Champion in this regard, as well as centrifugal juicers such as the Juiceman. A huge benefit of Green Star is that it juices wheat grass, so you will not need a dedicated wheat grass juicer. It's also amazingly quiet, far quieter (and a bit slower) than my Champion. And like the Champion, it does a great job with pates, frozen ice cream, and other recipes requiring a homogenizing blade, also known as a "blank." With a slower speed, the juice does not heat up as much as with a Champion and oxidizes slower.
So is there a catch? Yes. There are far more parts to assemble, disassemble, and clean than with a Champion. I'm reminded of the time when my brother was a child, he asked to borrow my father's watch, and my father said, "sure." A few days later, my father wanted his watch back, and entered my brothers room to find a bazillion little pieces on the floor: gears, springs, etc. My brother explained that he wanted the watch so he could take it apart, but not to worry he said, "I'll put it back together." My father said, "don't worry about it, you can keep the watch." When I take apart a Green Star juicer, I always think of this story because it has so many more parts than a Champion. (Although fortunately, the Green Star is far easier to assemble and disassemble than an analog watch.:-) At the Living Light Culinary Institute where I trained as a raw foods chef, when we made pates and banana ice cream, we always reached for the Champion, not the Green Star.
In deciding whether to purchase a Green Star juicer, consider whether you are going to be juicing a lot of greens and/or wheatgrass, and whether you're really going to take the time to disassemble, clean, and assemble about a dozen parts each time you use it. If you're not put off by that, then I highly recommend the Green Star. If you are mostly considering a juicer for carrot juice, fruit juices, banana ice cream and pates, then I would steer you towards the Champion. If you want to use a juicer for all of the above and can afford and have the space for both, then I enthusiastically recommend both.
Note that there are 3 models of Green Star juicers, of which the GS1000 is their most basic model. The GreenStar.com website explains the various accessories that come with or can be purchased with each. Accessories such as pasta makers and mochi makers are available for purchase with the GS1000, but are included with the GS3000.

Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer Express Review

Carrots would always get stuck in the bottom of the shoot and impede anything else including the stuck carrots from passing through to the blade. I had to keep stopping the juicer to pull the carrots out. I realized that everytime a put a carrot in the juicer, it would get stuck once it got juiced down to the right size to just sit at the bottom of the shoot. Ughhh...so I returned it and got the Jack La Lane "Elite." The only difference was that the "Elite" had a stainless steel cover...it had exactly the same problem..I would never, ever, recommend this juicer to anyone. I ended up going back to my Juiceman Jr which I have had for over 15 years. I had put it in a bag to take to Goodwill, but had to take it out again.I now have a Breville "elite". It DOES NOT JUICE greens well and there seems to be a lot of waste. I'm going to try another brand and if I am still dissatisfied will just stick with my old Juiceman Jr!

Breville BJE200XL Compact Juice Fountain 1.5-qt. Review

(More customer reviews)When I was in the market for a juicer, I had 2 in the price range I was thinking about. They were the Breville Compact Juice Fountain and Jack LaLanne's Power Juicer. A friend had let me borrow the Power Juicer, and I really liked it. As I was reading reviews and doing research, I concluded that the Breville was a better choice. So, I went out and bought the Breville.
I made the wrong choice! When I juiced apples, it left chunks of apples un-juiced that were about the size of a quarter. It also sent a good bit of the peal into the pulp area. I also found the juice to be very "gritty" and full of pulp. I was juicing a days worth of juice for my wife and me (about 32 lbs of apples), so I had to stop the machine and clean out the pulp 3 times.
I have since returned the Breville juicer and bought the Jack LaLanne Power Juicer. It works much better. I can juice 32 lbs of apples and never change the pulp catcher (I put a bag in it, so I don't even have to clean that part of the machine. The juice is much cleaner with less pulp. The Breville has a faster RPM motor, but the Power Juicer is every bit as powerful. It juices whole apples easily. You can also get about 4 decent sized carrots in there with no trouble.
All in all, I recommend the Power Juicer over the Breville. If you like a lot of pulp, then you might like the Breville. It is a good juicer for smaller quantities of juice. The Breville is a better looking juicer as far as its styling and color goes, but for me the Power Juicer wins hands down.

I had developed skin cancer and started using this juicer to juice 2 quarts of carrot and apple juice and 1 quart of leafy green vegetable juice, which I drink 8 oz. glasses of spread throughout the day. The cancer abated. The juicer is fantastic. It is quiet, easy to use and easy to clean. We highly recommend it. Even my children (8 years old and up) can use it safely. We also use it to juice wheatgrass, which almost no other juicer can effectively juice unless it is a wheatgrass juicer only. This machine crushes the food then presses it into a dry pulp squeezing nearly every drop of juice out of almost anything. It's Great! If you need a juicer, this is the one. Nothing else comes close. We only wish it came in a solid stainless steel version.

However, it's just too much trouble to assemble the screw and caps and cut up vegetables and feed them in the hopper and plunge them in, slowly. With my old high speed blender that I use for carrot juices, it's simply a matter of pushing whole carrots into the top slot. Then open and clean out. Takes a minute. In sum, I would say this Samson machine may be useful for something, to someone. But please, if only I could have tried it out first.

Samson Ultrasonic Fruit, Vegetable and Dish Washer Plus Disinfector 3D Soul System GBW-300 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this without reading a single review. I searched hard for one, but guess this must be too pricey for most people to purchase it (at least, that's my guess). But since my husband and I juice every morning, we wanted something to remove pesticides. We bought this and have never regretted it. Granted, I can't prove that pesticides and other bad things (i.e e-choli) are actually removed, because I don't have a science lab at hand, I CAN say items washed are MUCH cleaner with this. I can also say we haven't gotten sick, and spinach is one of our daily ingredients (I'm reviewing this shortly after the e-choli on spinach breakout).
I have washed bunches of celery and been disgusted by what was washed off (bugs, dirt, and who knows what else). Even if we can't see much difference, we can feel a difference. For example, carrots washed in running water feel like carrots, but carrots washed in this washer feel almost like they were scrubbed clean.
If you can afford this, I highly recommend it.
I will add, for those who purchase it, that there is a metal ring in the bottom of the bowl that says 'open' and 'close.' I called Samson's help line and asked about this, since nothing is mentioned in the user's guide. The man told me to leave it alone (on the 'closed' setting), that it is for repair technicians to use.
We've used it for food, and also for our toothbrushes. They get a thorough cleaning each month, and I don't have to worry about them warping, as happens when they are boiled clean.

I would recommend that you measure your arm first before buying it to ensure that you are within 13-17'. Tribest Soymilk Maker Review

(More customer reviews)If this were the only soymilk maker I'd ever used, I'd probably have been thrilled with it. However, I'd been using the SoyQuick Soy Milk Maker (SDZ-5) that belonged to a friend. When my use increased, I decided it was time for my own. I looked around and found the Soyabella. It looked like it did everything the SDZ-5 did, and maybe more, and it had an elegant design which I liked. The Soyabella performed well, made great soymilk, but there are a couple of serious design flaws. One thing I wasn't prepared for was the wickedly sharp blades on the Soyabella. I'm used to cleaning small parts with my fingers. Not a good idea with this machine, and I sliced skin off a finger in short order, even being careful. The Soyabella has three electrical plugs on the unit: one in the top, and two in the base. That makes it necessary to clean very carefully so you don't get water in the electrical parts. The top unit with the blades is hard to hold onto, and if you get water in the electrical components, it may not run until it drys out in 3-4 days.
With these drawbacks, and especially the sharp blades, I called Tribest and asked for a refund. Forget it. Because it wasn't malfunctioning, they didn't consider my dissatisfaction a legitimate reason for a refund. I am STUCK with this machine, which I don't use. I'm very unhappy with the Soyabella and with Tribest. They don't stand behind their products, and to me, that says it all. I finally got an SoyQuick SDZ5 of my own from Kitchen's Best Manufacturing Group, and I'm completely thrilled with the company and the product. These people don't mess around! They stand by their products 100% and give a 90 day 100% money back guarantee. To me, that's well worth paying a bit more, because it says they're confident enough in their products to KNOW you won't return them! What a refreshing difference!

(More customer reviews)I needed replacement parts for my Jack Lellane Juicer (made by Tristar) that I got from the infomercial. I previously bought replacement parts, for it,from Tristar, the company that makes the Jack L juicer and it took 3 months to receive them. It also took over a month to receive that juicer when I initailly ordered it. Tristar has the worst customer service ever, and I'd recommend avoiding them at all costs, unless you enjoy frustration.
I decided to try to find a new juicer and leave the Jack L juicer behind.
Previous to the Jack L juicer I had the old Juiceman JR, but I didn't really like it because the feeder was very small, the motor was weak, and the plastic broke very quickly.
My research on Amazon showed that the Breville juicers all got good reviews, and I suspect that they're excellent juicers, but after spending $200 on the Jack L juicer i was hesitant to spend that much again.
I happened to be in Macys, and I saw the Juiceman Jr JM300 next to the JL juicer and the Breville Juice fountain plus. A quick look at the floor models showed that the Jack L juicer has only 250 watts of power. The Breville has 850 watts but cost $150. Breville also has a 600 watt model that gets good reviews here on Amazon.
The Juiceman Jr JM300 Has 700 watts and only cost me $59 + tax, and it's a bit smaller than the other two. This looked pretty good to me.
The minute I got home. I juiced 2 heads of leafy green lettuce and a whole lemon w/ the peel on.
This machine is not very loud, and chewed up everything very quickly. It did slow down a bit w/ the lemon, but I only used slow speed ( it has 2 speeds) and I pushed the plunger perhaps too hard. As soon as I let up on the pressure, It chewed up the lemon quickly and easily. This is something the Jack L juicer never did for me.
The design of the feeder and blade seems sturdy enough. The feeder on this model is fairly wide like the other 2 juicers listed above. The feeder is directly over the center of the blade and the hole is the same width as the entire blade. (different than I've seen on other juicers where the feeder is over a radius area of the blade).
The blade has very sharp teeth which seems to be a good feature, but be very careful w/ it. I got a small cut while I was washing it. Otherwise the machine seems very safe.
The Pulp that came out of this machine was more dry and the amount of juice was more than the Jack L juicer ever produced.
There is a foam seperator in the juice jug that works well.
Cleaning the machine was easy, and took about 30 seconds. I just rinsed it right after using it and used the brush that came with it to clean the filter.
Based on the price and results of this juicer I'm very happy w/ my purchace.

I did some research online and read people's review then decided to buy this soy milk machine. I know all the time that soy is very good to people's health especially for women so I had great expectation that this thing would work out. I ordered online from their own website and got it after 1 week. It was much bigger that I had imagined. Back in China, my mom used to use a handy soymaker. Anyway, I used it 3 times and it was good. Just that the soymilk didn't taste as fully cooked. Also washing the machine is a bit complicated since the head (where the electric parts are)is undetachable from the grinding part. So you need to hold the heavy head when washing the grinding part. You need to be very careful not to splash water onto the head. It's a bit tricky.
At the 4th usage, it only heated up without grinding at all so we pretty much harvest whole boiled beans. I called the company to fix it but they said I have to pay the mailing. Even though I found online that they have a retailer in my city but they insisted that I mail it back. Also if I still decide to return it later after fixing it, the 30 day warranty won't be extended. It still starts from the date of purchase, not from the date after you fix it. So I decided to return it for refund anyway. I paid $20+ for the mailing.
Another thing I found out about the manual is that, there is inconsitency among different language versions. One version says "push the grind button 3 times", the other versions says "push the grind button 4 times". I don't know which one to follow.
It's quite a lesson to learn. Well, I'll have to look for my soy machine again. I didn't the machine from Amazon so I wouldn't know if the experience would be different if I did.

This is a follow up of my previous review for this soymilk maker. I returned the machine and wrote the review here in February. The supervisor of the customer service called me after he saw the online review. He said according to their policy, in case the machine is broken, they should pay for the shipping. The lady who handled my case has worked there for 1+ year but was oblivious of this policy. He also offered to give me a completely new machine with 2 year warranty as a compliment. Well, I tried the new machine out and it is working good. Now I've got the refund for the previous machine as well as the $20 shipping. I guess I should give them a second chance of proving themselves.

(More customer reviews)I am very pleased with the Soyabella Milk Maker. We make both Soy and Rice milk every other week. Clean up isn't a big deal if you do it right after you make the milk. With the addition of some vanilla and sweetner you can make a delicious rice or soy milk. We have experimented with Almond milk and a blend of beans and cashews. I'll keep you posted if I come up with anything spectacular. This product is well worth the 100 bucks.
