(More customer reviews)If you've read the majority of the reviews for this product you'll notice there is a consistent problem with the sprayer clogging and no longer working. Here's how to fix it. We originally bought the machine a year and a half ago and it quit spraying after only 2 uses. Bissell replaces it under warranty but the bad thing is that your "new" Little Green is only warranteed for the the rest of the time left on the original one you bought. Of course our replacement quit spraying as well until today when my husband figured out how to fix it. Get some liquid CLR Calcium Lime Rust Remover or Lime-Away product and pour straight into the clean water solution tank. Fill only to about 3/4 of an inch of the CLR in the tank, then turn on the Little Green and push the sprayer button. It will immediately begin spraying again. Let it sit for about 10 minutes, then run the rest of the CLR through. Then run through a tank or two of clean water. The problem is the phosphates in your water that clog the sprayer line. This should get rid of the clogs. I would also follow the advice of running through some clean water before storing your Little Green. Other than the sprayer problem the Little Green is very effective at carpet stains and cleaning.

(More customer reviews)I rent a Rug Doctor every few months to handle cleaning my sofa & cow hide rug from my 4 cats. I was skeptical since the reviews said that this didn't actually suck up the water, but it does just as good a job as a Rug Doctor.- Meaning it leaves things wet, but yields a water tank full of dirty water. You have to make sure everything is put together correctly and that the chamber the water empties into is shut tight in order to make a vaccum seal. I hope to be able to use this on other upholstery, the blinds, and for cleaning the bed. The only thing preventing me is the hose length.
The pros: it's smaller and quieter than the Rug Doctor; it doesn't need anti-foam liquid to work; it heats water and has bristles (unlike the RD)- which is great for fluffing up the texture on the microfiber couch.
Cons: It needs a longer hose to reach the back of the couch; it has a clunky holder for the tools that makes it look poorly designed; it can't get serviced after every use like the Rug Doctor, so I hope it lasts a while.
I vowed to never buy another Bissell when my first hand-held wet vac died after a couple uses. So I am surprised this one is feeling like it's going to last. We'll see. I just go it today and I'll update this when I have my first problem.

(More customer reviews)What can I really say about this pump? My Bissell Little Green Clean Machine stopped spraying the liquid which sort of defeats the entire purpose of the machine itself, so I knew I had a problem.
I first thought the hose might be clogged, but after disassembling the case and verifying the hose was free of obstructions, my focus shifted to the pump itself. I verified there was voltage coming to the pump with my multimeter, yet the pump itself was not turning.
The Good News: A quick search on Amazon found me a replacement motor with the integrated pump assembly, and when I received it the installation was probably completed within 10 minutes. With the unit reassembled it works as good as new.
The Bad News: The design of the machine basically ensures the motor is spinning 100% of the time when the machine is powered on even if the trigger is not depressed on the wand. Essentially all the trigger does is remove clamping pressure from the hose which allows the liquid to reach the nozzle. Because the motor and pump are continually spinning, it makes me wonder if the motor can fail due to increased pressure on the pump.
If you are like me, you like to vacuum the areas treated several times to pull as much liquid as possible back out of the carpeting, and this means the motor will be on for much longer periods of time. However, I will admit I have had my machine for at least 6 or 7 years before this failure, so hopefully I won't need to do this again anytime soon.
Please note my Little Green Machine is the type without the heater, so I cannot say if this same pump is used in all models. The descripion mentions the model numbers it does work with, but it is best to examine the model number on your existing motor and match it up to see if this is compatible.

(More customer reviews)I heavily researched before buying this model. I was attracted by the heater and turbo brush, and I read many positive reviews. It works great on carpet cleaning, however, within three uses the trigger 'jammed up.' When I took it to a Bissell repair shop (a very reputable vacumn repair shop) I was told that the cleaner burns onto the heater each time it's used, causing it to stop spraying. He recommended that it be flushed through with hot water after each use and stored without the fill/empty canisters. Otherwise, it would continue to break. He also said that the heater only adds about 10 degrees so it's a minimal benefit. He strongly encouraged me to return the model for a basic unit (1400) which is ... cheaper. He repairs all brands and encouraged me to purchase the Hoover SteamVac Jr. instead. He rairly encounters problems with their model, but sees many Bissells.
I purchased one and have used it once. I really love it. It works as well as the Bissell (both clean extremely well) but is easier to operate. I no longer have to 'flush' the system each time I use it (who has time for that?). With two little ones, purchasing a portable steam cleaner is a must; Bissell and Hoover make excellent choices (but stay away from the heater units)

(More customer reviews)My husband, albiet not from here, picked up this little gem after calling him and relaying that our son dumped the entire contents of a chocolate syrup bottle on his bedroom carpet. Home he came with this bissell. Only one they had at the store.
Assembly in two seconds, I kid you not. Didn't even need to look at the instructions. put in the cleaning solution, filled reservoir with water, set it down, plugged it in. Now, mind you, it took me about ten minutes, with a few minutes between each go, this syrup was well and good in the carpet, but I am deeply impressed. Throughly impressed. It's very light, even filled, it's compact, fits real nicely into our cleaning closet, and super easy to use. For the price we paid, it's paid for itself halfway with just the one room, compared to getting our carpets steam cleaned every few months. I would happily buy again.
