Memory Loft Fiberbed Size: King Review

Memory Loft Fiberbed Size: King
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We are living in a furnished apartment, awaiting the completion of our new house, so we're sleeping on horribly hard beds right now. To remedy the situation, I ordered this fiberbed. Because the title read "Memory Loft," I automatically thought it was like Memory Foam. That, it is not. It's more like a really full down comforter.
It definitely made the bed way more comfortable. I'm not hurting when I wake up anymore.
A few cons, though. One, I ordered the King so we could use it on our king bed in the new house. We're sleeping on queens here now. It isn't much bigger than the queen bed, so I'm wondering how well it's going to fit the king. It moves around a lot, too. I don't think I move that much in my sleep so I COULD be the problem, or it could also be because I have a king size fiberbed on a queen size mattress.
The only other thing is, because it's like a down comforter and not memory foam, you do have to fluff it every now and then. It definitely flattens out when you sleep on it for a week or so. But really, that's not much of a sacrifice for a nice comfy bed.
I'll update this when we get it on our king size bed and see how it really works.

Comfort Touch Baffled Fiber Bed with Bonus Pillows Review

Comfort Touch Baffled Fiber Bed with Bonus Pillows

I purchased the Comfort Touch Baffled Fiber Bed for a full size bed in my guest room. Unfortunately, the full size Fiber Bed does not cover the full size mattress. There is a difference of about two to three inches on each side. I kept it since I don't have to sleep on it, and because it is very thick and comfortable looking. I'm just very disappointed in the size difference. The pillows are very, very soft and are not of a great quality, plus they are kind of on the small size for a standard pillow.

I bought this sheet after trying several regular cotton and knit sheets and I love it! It fits really well - surprising, given that it doesn't have elastic - and is very soft.

Deluxe 100% Cotton Damask Stripe Mattress Pad Review

Deluxe 100% Cotton Damask Stripe Mattress Pad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Having purchased numerous mattress pads (because most of them are utter garbage) I was very impressed when I received this. The actual padding is very nice and a lot thicker than most pads I've seen and also doesn't look like you picked it out of a dollar store (it has a quality look to it, 300 thread count, I believe).
Now, where this really shines is the part where it isn't padded (the fabric that goes on the side of the bed that you tuck in). Most pads have this weird filter-looking material that you can easily poke your finger through. This pad has a very nice quality material thats quite stretchy but very durable. This is a quality pad and I expect it will last me a long, long time.

A blend of comfortable materials, this deluxe mattress pad from Newpoint Home adds a rich layer of softness to the sleeping surface. Created with a generous amount of hypoallergenic polyester fill, the pad features a 100 percent cotton top with a thread-count of 250 and a pretty damask stripe design. Thick quilting adds a soothing feel as well as mattress protection, and deep sides fit mattresses up to 22 inches, making the pad perfect for pillow tops. Sewn to prevent shifting, the pad combines well with most sheet styles, and its design is comfortable for all-season use. Available in all the standard sizes, it is machine washable and dryable on cool settings for easy care.

ChiliPad Bed Temperature Control System Review

ChiliPad Bed Temperature Control System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned one of these for about a year. The big selling point is of course the cooling feature, since warming a bed with an electric blanket would be far cheaper. If it lasts for a couple of years, it will probably pay for itself since air conditioning is far less effective than having cool water circulating below you. For that reason, this may be considered a "green" product, since it takes more energy to cool a houseful of air than to cool the two cups of water running through this.
Pros: Energy savings, two sides of the bed can be different temperatures, built-in timer can turn it off before you freeze at 3 am, more comfortable than an electric fan, remote control.
So-so: It's about as loud as a box fan at medium speed. I actually like falling asleep to such a sound, others may not. Maybe keeping it under the bed would muffle it some.
Cons: Pretty darned expensive.
I actually found out about this product from one of the social news sites, it might have been digg. I was a bit scared to buy it since there were few reviews, but I took the plunge and it has been a great purchase. A cool bed in the summer is something I've missed since giving up my old waterbed 20 years ago.
What I don't understand is why this isn't a top-seller... it's such a simple concept.

In most cases, temperatures above 75 degrees F and below 54 degrees F will disrupt sleep, but even sleep researchers fail to agree on the perfect temperature for a restful night's slumber. Enter the ChiliPad bed temperature control system, an innovative mattress-top sleeping pad that cools or heats the bed depending on your sleeping preferences. As a result, you can find an ideal temperature whether you prefer a slightly cooler mattress--usually recommended for better REM sleep--or a warmer mattress, a must when the mercury outside drops. The ChiliPad is adjustable from 68 all the way to 118 degrees F, with an intuitive wireless remote handling the temperature variation in 1-degree increments.
Technology ChiliPad technology uses water instead of air to generate a wide range of in-bed temperature adjustments. Similar to the semiconductor technology that cools your computer, water passes by the chip and, depending on the direction of electron flow, the water is cooled or heated. The water then flows through the soft coils in the mattress pad to actively adjust the temperature of the surface at a fraction of the cost of air conditioning or heating. The motor is virtually silent (under 45 decibels) and fits under a standard bed frame.
Sizes and Zones The ChiliPad is available in such mattress sizes as twin, twin XL, full, queen, California king, and king. The queen and king sizes are also available with dual-zone coils, which allow you and your partner to sleep at different temperatures, with independent motors and controls that vary between 63 and 100 degrees F. At last, both partners can sleep comfortably without disturbing the other.
The ChiliPad is sold with a three-year manufacturer's warranty.

Naturepedic Waterproof Fitted Crib Pad, 28x52 Review

Naturepedic Waterproof Fitted Crib Pad, 28x52
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used this pad for over a year in my child's crib. It is soft and thick and fits well. It is waterproof as claimed. (If you're curious about the waterproof coating they use, here is some info:[...])
Big downside: This thing takes forever to dry after washing. Far longer in the dryer than anything else in the laundry. And if you don't get it very dry, it quickly mildews. Once I left it overnight after washing in the machine and it already smelled of mildew the next morning. Twice I attempted to air-dry it after washing and ended up with a mildewy pad that I had to re-wash and rinse with added vinegar.
If you live in a very dry climate and can hang it in the sun, it might be okay. But in our more humid climate, all I can do is put it in the (energy-hungry) dryer for a looong time. Bummer.

Sleep Innovations Memory Foam Topper with 260-Thread-Count Cotton Cover and Bedskirt Review

Sleep Innovations Memory Foam Topper with 260-Thread-Count Cotton Cover and Bedskirt
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I do not sleep well, at all. I get maybe 2-3 hours of uninterrupted sleep a night. 5 TOPS but that's pretty rare. I don't have kids, not married, no pets. Just me. I do have persistent pain due to a hip issue, and I live next to a very busy street - so that plus some worrying keeps me up.
-
I wondered if this thing would help. Now, my bed was not cheap - I spent $1,700 a few years back buying a real nice mattress and box spring. I'm not that happy with it, only because I don't sleep well anyhow. It's a nice mattress - has a pillow-top thing attached and overall it feels nice. But I still don't sleep well. I wondered if this thing would help in any way. It kind of does!
-
This thing arrives rolled up real tight and packed in a tarp-like cover. You have to cut this off, without damaging the foam. I recommend using a scissors, but don't cut: If your scissors (or knife) are sharp enough, then pulling with one hand while gently pushing the blade along the cut will make the tarp/cover snap open bit by bit, without the risk of slicing the foam.
-
This thing is like a monster: I swear it's alive. Within a couple minutes it had expanded to it's full size. It even feels alive - or feels weird. It's tacky and it's like grabbing silly putty. But it's cool. Anyhow it expanded to full size which is just a tad longer than my queen mattress.
-
Now, this thing comes with a mattress cover / zipper bag that you have to put this thing into. The directions aren't the best so let me explain: BEFORE you open the mattress pad itself, open the small bag containing the zipper case. This cover/zipper case thing is like a giant zipper bag with a fitted sheet attached to it. You know the mattress cover you already have? Well, imagine a big zipper-bag all the way around it on top. When you get this thing - open this thing up FIRST and use the fitted-sheet-part and get that on your mattress. Open up the zipper-bag and THEN open the mattress topper on TOP of that. Once the mattress topper has expanded, you can easily flip over the top cover of the zipper bag and zip it up. I opened the pad first then had to shove/move it aside as I had to attach this thing first. Once your pad is in place, then you can cover it with your normal mattress pad and sheets, etc.
-
How does it feel? Great! I thought I'd sink in way too much - I mean it's only 2 inches. But it feels AWESOME. It coddles you but not TOO MUCH - you don't SINK deeply into it so much as sort of gently get caressed by this thing. It's nice. I like it because it supports me, and keeps me aligned when lying sideways with the pillow - I feel that my spine is straight.
-
Now, the big question you're asking: Did you sleep better? YES. I did. I managed to get a couple hours more rest in than I did the night before. I really do like this thing. I wish they made camping mattresses made of this - you know the kind? A foam core in a self-inflatable thing? Guys - if you're reading this - I get credit for that idea!!!
-
I'll update this review as time goes on, to see if this thing holds up. My main concern is that over time, the area where I normally sleep will become thinner and padded down. But for now - I think it's just great!
****
*** UPDATE 12/15/2010 ***
I LOVE this thing! I look forward to going to sleep every night, instead of dreading it. I absolutely feel the difference in my body. I have been sleeping better, sleeping more soundly, and don't ache as much lying in bed. I love this thing! I don't see how I can live without it. Going forward - I will always plan to have a memory foam topper on my bed - it's just that nice and works that well! It's been a couple months now and I have not noticed that this thing has lost any of its' resiliency. If it does, you can be sure I'll note it here. But for now, I couldn't be happier. For something I had zero expectations for, it's just made me so happy!

Sometimes a good night\'s sleep is the only thing that separates a good day from a bad day. Well rested, the mind solves problems with more efficiency and the body can better endure physical challenges. To sleep more soundly, a memory foam mattress topper enhances personal comfort and support, responding to body weight and temperature as it molds around an individual\'s body. This curve-hugging aspect of memory foam facilitates proper spinal alignment and relieves pressure points to increase circulation. Additionally, memory foam minimizes motion transfer so that fidgety sleepers can go unnoticed by bed companions. To enjoy the benefits of memory foam without the financial commitment of a mattress purchase, Sleep Innovations presents this 2-inch high memory foam queen-sized mattress topper for use on top of either a traditional innerspring or a memory foam mattress.
The mattress topper is crafted out of 100-percent polyurethane memory foam with a 3-pound density. To optimize air circulation and regulate the surface temperature, the mattress topper includes patented open-cell technology. An antimicrobial finish on the topper deflects mold and mildew while the memory foam\'s hypoallergenic nature provides comfort for those with allergies. A 260-thread count 100-percent cotton cover with an attached bed skirt protects from dirt and other damage; the bed skirt hugs the below mattress to secure the topper in place. Removable, the cover is machine washable. Deep pocket sheets may be required. Available in twin, full, queen, king, and California king sizes, Sleep Innovations offers an assortment of memory foam toppers and mattresses. The topper is vacuum packed for compact shipping. Unpack in a well-ventilated space and allow up to 72 hours for full expansion. Made in the USA, a limited ten-year warranty covers this item. The topper measures 80 inches long by 60 inches wide by 2 inches high.
