I received this as a Chirstmas gift, I could not fathom spending this amount of money on something for myself. At any rate, I love coffee, espresso and all other coffee flavored drinks so trust me when I say,
"this was a wonderful surprise" for a true coffee lover. In the long run, not only was I worth the price, but it has actually paid for itself with the money I have now saved not going to coffee houses, @ $5.00 and up per cup, and for a much better cup than those they were selling. This is definitely for the coffee lover, not occassional drinker, who has everything else. Oh! space helps too, it not a small item. Extremely well packaged, dependable, and sturdy. FYI. I waited a year and a half before leaving this review, I received it Dec.25, 2008. Used everyday, multiple times per. The filters are a bit expensive but you get a good length of time on them, the can be purchased cheaper online and in bulk.

Jura-Capresso 13333 Impressa J5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, Piano White Review

Jura-Capresso 13333 Impressa J5 Automatic Coffee and Espresso Center, Piano White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
At this writing I've owned the J5 for two weeks and have produced approximately 100 shots of espresso/coffee. Having stated that as a qualifier, I've found this super automatic espresso machine to be outstanding in performance, ease of use, and quality of espresso produced. The controls are simple to understand and use - there are detailed descriptions of these available on multiple vendor websites, the manufacturer's website even includes a number of very informative videos.
Considering the financial commitment associated with this machine, I was more than a little hopeful that it would produce quality espresso in a straight forward and timely manner. It does this with aplomb.
Regarding its operation, the J5 heats quickly (around 60 seconds) then is ready to run the rinse cycle (also quick, at around 10 seconds). Once the rinse cycle has completed it's ready for action. I won't go into detail about the individual espresso/coffee settings (again, this info is readily available elsewhere) other than to say the controls work exactly as described. Each button is customizable, both permanently and as a one-time override. A very wide range of volume and strength is attainable by adjusting these controls.
The morning routine:
I was quite concerned about the total end-to-end time for brewing in the morning before work, and I have to say in this regard I am very pleased. I've configured the J5 to automatically turn on as I'm showering/shaving etc, so when I arrive in front of the machine it's ready to run the rinse cycle. If you're interested in ensuring the warmest possible espresso/coffee, I recommend running an additional rinse cycle to heat up the internal components a bit more, this combined with preheating your cup really produces a nice hot cup. In the mornings I brew 8 oz. of café crema. The whole process, including a rinse cycle after brewing (the machine prompts for this after hitting the on/off button), takes about 3-4 minutes. This time would be cut by at least half if you were brewing the standard 1-2 oz espresso instead of the higher volume café crema. If you're interested in immediate cleanup, the drip tray and dreg box are easily removed and rinsed - both will hold a substantial volume however, so daily cleaning of these items is not required.
A word on espresso quality:
Okay, after covering some of the operational highlights, here's the real question - of what quality is the espresso/coffee produced? The short answer is...OUTSTANDING! Producing quality espresso consistently is where the J5 really excels. I've used two types of espresso so far, Lavazza Pienaroma and the Organic Espresso available from CoffeeAM.com. The espresso shots produced using both of these beans results in an amazing amount of crema (1/4 inch) and a fantastic taste. I've also used a locally available pre-ground decaf espresso in the by-pass doser with good results. It's difficult to describe a quality taste in a written review, but the espresso shots produced by the J5 are simply outstanding.
It's difficult to continue enthusiastically describing features of this machine without sounding like a shill for the manufacturer...but a few more things are worthy of mention:
* I've used the frothXpress attachment for making cappuccinos and lattes a handful of times and it works well, much better than I expected, and is easy to clean. I have not used the optional Dual Frother Plus. The hot water is nice and hot, and works extremely well when used as a cup warming aid.
* I've had no issues with the conical burr grinder or any of the other brewing components. They work well and operate within very acceptable sound levels.
* Commenting specifically on the espresso/coffee temperature, I can say that while using the "hot" setting, a rinse cycle to heat up the internal components, and preheating the cup with hot water, the output is very acceptable - no need to be hotter.
* Brew duration seems to be heavily effected by the grind setting. For example, a fine setting using dark oily beans induces very slow brew times. If these types of beans are used, a grind setting between medium and coarse seems to work best; this produces a great crema and normal brew duration. Oily beans should also be "air dried" for 4-5 hours before adding to the hopper to allow the excess oils to dry.
* Included with the J5 is an excellent owner's manual and very handy instructional DVD. Reading/viewing both is highly recommended.
Con?:
For reasons I have yet to determine, both 2 cup buttons brew at the "extra strong" strength setting only. Although I don't consider this a major fault, it seems very odd that the volume setting is configurable and the strength is not.
Finally, as stated above, I've owned this machine for only about two weeks, so I can't yet comment on durability or longevity. However, the build quality and performance so far would seem to portend high marks for both.

Equipped with an 18-bar pump and 1450-watt stainless-steel-lined thermoblock heating system, this automatic coffee and espresso center can produce cup after cup of coffee with no down time in between. The machine's unique two-step pre-infusion cycle ensures every brew delivers optimal flavor extraction and a creamy crema layer. In the first stage, freshly ground coffee gets compressed, then injected with a small burst of hot water, causing the moist grounds to expand. In the second stage, brewing water courses through the engorged coffee grounds.
This user-friendly appliance combines not only powerful performance, but also a simple, elegant design with easy-to-use controls. Its front panel offers six buttons in the shape of a ring: two buttons for espresso (single and double), two for coffee (single and double), one for hot water, and one for steam. All of these functions are individually programmable. For example, the strength, temperature, and size of each of the coffee buttons can be set, as can the amount of water delivered in a hot water cycle, and the amount of time a steam cycle lasts. The 10-digit alpha-numeric LCD display clearly communicates all functions and settings in any one of five languages. The top of the unit provides three more controls: two buttons (one for power, the other for maintenance) and an illuminated rotary control dial for overriding any settings for coffee and steam. Choose from 11 programming options by pushing the integrated rotary button.
The coffee and espresso center also showcases several other innovative features. Its new ceramic-valve technology shortens the flow of coffee, resulting in a hotter temperature and more crema in the cup. The machine's three hot-water temperature settings produce a hotter Cafe Americano, pre-warm coffee cups faster, and accommodate a larger variety of tea preparation. It also provides a dual, butterfly, coffee-spout design that moves up/down and in/out to accommodate a larger range of cups.
Other highlights include a commercial-grade, solid-steel conical burr grinder with six fineness settings and low-noise operation; a 9-ounce bean container with aroma cover and low-level bean indicator; a self-adjusting brewing chamber, which holds from 5 to 16 grams of ground coffee to make up to two 8-ounce cups of coffee at a time; a sensor-activated pre-ground coffee funnel; a clock/timer with programmable auto-on and auto-off capabilities; and a 71-ounce removable water container with a Clearyl water-filtration system and low-water indicator. Even more, the machine provides two interchangeable frother systems, which include a Dual Frother Plus for manual operation and a frothXpress for automatic frothing and steaming. A concealed compartment neatly stores the measuring scoop and the Dual Frother Plus attachment. The coffee and espresso center measures 16-1/2 by 11 by 13-1/4 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Delonghi ESAM 3300 Magnifica Bundle Review

Delonghi ESAM 3300 Magnifica Bundle

This unit makes a GREAT cup of Joe. With that said, it started leaking coffee around the infuser right away which got worse over time. Then, about five months of use (just me, average 1-2 cups a day), it began leaking from the bottom of the unit covering my counter top. My cook book absorbed a lot of it. Delonghi sent me a box and shipping label to send it to a repair center. They said the turn around would be a few days. That was five weeks ago. I've contacted both Delonghi and the repair center. The unit has not even been removed from the box for evaluation. They said there were many more units ahead of mine. I have to wait my turn. That is all.
I did not buy the unit on Amazon, but it started me thinking about Amazon reviews. I read them a lot, but I did not this time because it was recommended by my sister in law. All of the reviews I read said that either the unit was terrific or it works great when it works. When it doesn't work, there is little or no support from Delonghi. One even said that Delonghi delayed much of the correspondence until the warranty was expired.
My plan is to wait for the item to be returned to me, then I'm going to return it for a full refund to avoid any more hassles with Delonghi. It is really too bad because the coffee was great.

This machine was a replacement for a beloved Saeco Magic Deluxe which faithfully served great espresso for years. The machine does not disappoint. It looks great, although mostly plastic. The buttons are a bit flimsy and I wish it could accept ground coffee rather than beans-only. The espresso is superb and you can't really go wrong with this unit.

Saeco S-TG-ST Talea Giro Super Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco S-TG-ST Talea Giro Super Automatic Espresso Machine

Seems expensive, but please add up your Starbucks expenditures for the past year and then buy this with no hesitation!
Many espresso purists turn their noses up at superauto machines, but as someone who has owned a high-end non-auto machine, this Saeco will reliably produce a high-quality espresso shot with virtually no effort! With my manual machines the shots would vary in quality, and while at times I could produce a better shot on my own, it would require a lot of effort. This superauto produces espresso that is 100% reliably better than most but not all of the shots I could produce manually, and it does so with almost no effort on my part (add water, beans, empty dreg drawer, that's about it).
Oh, and definitely get the [optional] Milk Island, which produces a phenomenal microfoam, to the point that you can do some basic latte art with it; again not better than some I could produce manually, but consistently better than most I produce manually, and with no work at all!
This machine looks great, heats up INSTANTANEOUSLY (that's right, no waiting at all for a boiler to heat up), is fairly quiet (thanks to ceramic grinder), and produces espresso that is superior to anything you could ever get a Starbucks.
I also looked at just about every other superauto in the $500 to $1,500 price range, and in fact tried a number of them out in person. This particular unit was my favorite by a wide margin!
BUY THIS AND THE OPTIONAL MILK ISLAND AND NEVER GO TO STARBUCKS AGAIN! I'm serious.

We purchased this machine to use in a 13 person office, and everyone loves it. Very easy to maintain and the coffee tastes great. My only complaint is that Jura does not provide a very useful manual for this machine. You can download one online on their website, but it is for two different models and can be confusing. If you are looking for a high quality machine for less $$ this is for you!

Yes, you'll flinch when you see the price tag! Right now this is the king of super automatics. My work hours are all over the place and many times there is just no time to devote to pulling the perfect espresso from a manual or semi machine. Add to that I drink cappuccino's or lattes 95% of the time. This machine was made for those who drink mostly cappuccino's or lattes and it couldn't be easier. Many long time aficionados on the coffeegeek.com forums will tell you that you cannot pull anything close to a "god shot" from a super automatic and they are correct. But what you get is pretty darn good especially if you love the taste of espresso but don't want to devote your life to making perfect shots every pull. The Z5 is the model of simplicity and produces consistent very good shots of espresso and excellent latte's & cappuccino's every time with little time. I had this machine programmed, up and going just 10 minutes out of the box. I am not an expert on pulling shots manually. Setting the knob to the hottest setting, strongest espresso and finest grind yielded a very tasty shot that was far better than any I have had at Starbuck's. I used Coffee Emergency espresso roast. The crema was good and the temperature excellent. I used a Capressa S9 a year ago and was not happy with the temperature of the shots coming out of the machine. They are much improved on the Z5. Back to cappuccino's... Fill the milk thermos with your choice of milk...set knob to cappuccino and hit the button. A gorgeous cappuccino was produced on the very first try. I didn't have to move the cup...it was all automatic! It took me ages to learn to make a decent cappuccino on same thing manually. Again...much better than at Starbuck's and any of the local coffee houses. The Z5 has a timer that can be set to turn the machine on and off when you want it to. Settings for water level, brewing time, amount of heated milk and foam, can all be pre set or adjusted with a knob live as your beverage is being made. The unit is whisper silent even when grinding beans. It is a well built piece of equipment that is UL approved for both residential and commercial use. I couldn't be happier with it.Should you get this machine? Bottom line is that if you want to make espresso's as a hobby and are going for that ultimate "god shot" every time don't even think about this machine. If you are a working professional who just wants a great cappuccino, latte and espresso with absolute minimum fuss that will beat Starbuck's and your local coffee shop.... think about buying this machine.

Either my machine is a lemon or there are some serious design flaws. In short, ours' clogs up very easily. I finally bought Lavazza beans at the recommendation of a Saeco retailer who said that the beans are that much more important with conical burr grinders. At first the lavazza beans seemed to solve the clogging issue but after about 8-10 coffees it happened again. I can't imagine Saeco would intend consumer to clean the brew unit every couple days and not everyone buys the "perfect" gucci italian coffee bean. Also, when my wife set the dial to 7 to make basically a full cup of regular coffee, part of it leaked out the bottom of the machine (it's happened twice now). It's amazing how quickly coffee will stain a countertop if yr not aware the leak is there at first. Needless to say, for marital harmony the machine is going back and I'm going to pop more $ for a gaggia or Jura Capresso. We had a Saeco Royal previous to this one and honestly we abused that machine with oily beans, we didn't clean it often and it just kept on ticking. When the Rondo did brew a shot in the last few weeks of use the coffee was very good with a nice crema. Saeco customer service blamed the clogging on the coffee beans I was using previously (Cafe Vivace - seattle) which I found hard to believe. We have not called them about the leaking as we've just given up at this point. It CAN make good coffee but either there is a serious design flaw, or again, we got the lemon. Just be advised since many of you know how poorly a day can start at 0530 when yr denied coffee.....

I previously owned the S8 for about 7 years and after it broke, I decided to upgrade. I love the way Jura will repair a broken super automatic for 275.00 including round trip shipping no matter what the problem but I still wanted a newer model. I did a great deal of research on superautomatics and even bought a Saeco Xelsis. Unfortunately I had to return it as the latte temp never got above 120 degrees despite calling Saeco and working with their support line. I then bought a Jura Z7 as the manual stated that the milk could be heated up to 159 degrees and the espresso/ coffee up to 197 degrees. I love hot coffee/latte. After trying out the Xelsis, I wanted to buy a sure thing that I knew would make me happy. However, the milk at first came out about 130-140 degrees. It took three calls to Jura to figure out how to get the milk to the temp to what they advertise. One helpful person told me to pinch the tubing exiting the milk container before it enters the machine. This slows the stream of milk and increases its exposure to the heating elements but who wants to spend 3 grand on a machine and have to jury with it to get the milk hot enough. Finally, I was told of two things to do to get the milk temp up and how to keep the temp up in the cup. First, when putting the empty cup under the cappucino spout, press the milk button while the cappucino dial is set on steam water. This will spray very hot steam out of the cappucino spout into the cup. This heats up the tubing in the machine and heats up the cup. The third and most important thing is to align the notch in the cappucino spout dial on the border between the steam water icon and the steam milk icon. After flow begins, turn the dial counter-clockwise until the notch is actually into the steam water section but not so far that it stops the milk flow. By doing this I was able to get my milk temps up to the 180s (checking the temps as the milk exits the spout and before it hits the cup). NOW, I could not be happier with the taste AND and the temp of my lattes. Go Jura!!!

The machine made decent coffee for about 2 years. After a certain period Krups espresso machines require mandatory service and will stop working. I sent my working machine to Krups which had technically nothing wrong with it to service center in Downers Grove, Illinois. I was charged $220 for the service. The machine arrived not working. After contacting Krups again I found out that that the service center is now out of business. I sent it again to a another service center in California where I was told my machine still needs cleaning and is actually broken. That's another $268. Peter at the Krups customer support rudely brushed me off and said that it's not their problem. I expected a quality machine and service from Krups. I was wrong.

Maybe it is a little premature and I admit I was spooked by the negative reviews, but so far I have been very happy with Talea Touch. I bought it refurbished, not from Amazon but from an auction site (you know which one) and took out an extended SquareTrade warranty. It took little to no time to prime the water circuit, make custom adjustments to the grind and strength of the shot but it resulted in amazing espresso. Prior to this, I was using a Starbucks (Saeco) Barista espresso machine with a de-pressurized portafilter along with Ascaso I-mini grinder to make my espressos/lattes/cappuchinos. Despite reading coffeegeek and Home-barista.com, adjusting the grind/tamp/temp surfing techniques, my pulls were still resulting in shots too sour or too bitter. I was considering buying a higher-end espresso machine and PID kit for better temp control, but realized that I was spending way too much time in the morning griding/dosing/pulling and cleaning when I and my wife just want the d*** coffee. Yes, with Talea touch you do have to clean the group head, descale etc. Yes, the water reservoir could be bigger, the milk island could be cheaper (don't have one), the spent water/coffee puck reservoir could be a bit bigger as well... but when it comes to shot quality, it was on par with the shots I had in Italy or local Stumptown. And it takes less than 5 minutes to pull a shot. So far I am very happy with the purchase. Durability remains a concern so I will update the review accordingly.

With 15 bars of pump pressure, this super-automatic espresso machine brews coffeehouse-quality espressos, lattes, and cappuccinos with minimal effort, in just a few minutes. Its innovative brewing system makes it easy to create an infinite variety of coffee drinks from just one machine. Turning the dial either right or left changes the strength and consistency of coffee by increasing or decreasing the water pressure moving through the grounds. The unit's OptiDose system has an adjustable 7- to 10-1/2-gram doser, which regulates the amount of beans to grind per serving, while its aroma system injects hot water into ground coffee to maximize flavor extraction. The unit's user-friendly black-and-white touch-screen technology offers special icons that give clear, instant details for each function. The unit will automatically grind the right amount of coffee, tamp, brew, and dispense used grounds into an internal dregdrawer, all at the touch of an icon.
The machine also provides an adjustable built-in ceramic disc grinder, which delivers a more even grind, allowing for perfect dosing and blending, plus it operates considerably quieter than stainless-steel grinders. Especially convenient if a guest wants decaffeinated espresso, the machine comes with a pre-ground bypass doser. Simply pour the pre-ground decaffeinated or flavored coffee into the pre-ground coffee funnel without having to empty the beans in the grinder.
For added convenience, the espresso machine offers a stainless-steel Pannarello attachment for steaming milk or dispensing hot water, as well as a stainless-steel boiler system with Rapid Steam technology, which means no waiting between frothing milk and brewing espresso. The unit's easy-to-clean system features a patented brew group that can be removed at the push of a button for rinsing and chemical-free cleaning. Other highlights include indicator lights, a cup-warming surface, a removable 57-ounce water tank, a motorized adjustable drip tray, and an Aqua Prima water filter, as well as an adjustable coffee-volume dial, temperature control, an 8-ounce coffee-bean hopper, and a 14-puck used-ground capacity. Housed in a modern two-tone silver-and-titanium design, the 1500-watt super-automatic espresso machine measures 16 by 13 by 14-1/2 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

(More customer reviews)
Yes, this machine is very expensive. I was lucky enough to get it at a very very good price when amazon temporarily reduced the price, otherwise no way I would spend so much on something like this....
Anyway, this thing is quite simply awesome. My wife and I are now addicted to coffee :-) Latte machiatos and cappuccinos in the morning, espresso in the evening, hot milk for our daughter too!
The machine is totally automated, it will tell you when to clean it, when to add stuff, it will keep your cups warm, and did I mention it makes wonderful coffee? You can personalize how you want each of the different coffee drinks to come out, stronger, hotter, more robust. You can double the quantity of coffee coming out. It will accommodate various cup sizes, from espresso cups to large coffee cups. Did I mention it makes wonderful espresso/coffee :-)
Now the negatives: the machine is rather large so make sure you have the space for it, figure about a 1'X1' footprint of counter space, but it looks very modern and high tech. You do have to keep it clean, certain things have to be done about 15 minutes after your first cup (if you use the cappuccitore to make milk based drinks) but that is understandable as you want to make sure the milk doesn't start clogging everything. The water reservoir is not very large (you can get about 6 cups of coffee out of it) considering the size of the machine. You do have to learn to navigate the touch sensitive ring to get to what you want, I can imagine some people finding it frustrating. The machine does seem to have a lot of moving internal parts, when you use it you hear all kinds of mechanical noises in there, it makes you wonder how long that internal mostly plastic apparatus, called the Brew Group, will last; it's the heart of the machine. I am now drinking more coffee than ever!!!
All in all this thing is awesome, I hope it lasts a long time!

Blending simplicity with state-of-the-art technology, this super-automatic espresso machine provides an array of convenient features. Its easy-to-use click wheel interface allows for scrolling through and selecting each menu option on the display with just a slight touch of the click wheel. And thanks to its exclusive, integrated Touch2Cappuccino system, it can prepare two cappuccinos or two latte macchiatos at the same time. The system consists of a milk container placed directly inside the machine; milk gets drawn from the container, frothed internally, and then dispensed into the cup.
In addition, its Saeco Brewing System (SBS) technology allows for making an infinite variety of coffee beverages from just one fully automatic machine and at the mere twist of a knob. Choose from an intense Italian ristretto (turn the knob to the right) or an American-style long coffee (turn the knob to the left). SBS satisfies all tastes, giving a full flavor and a truly unique creamy layer. Furthermore, the coffee dose in the extraction chamber can be fully manipulated, due to the pressure, which remains constant throughout the extraction cycle.
The espresso machine's ceramic grinder delivers a consistent grind and allows for perfect dosing and blending, while its Rapid Steam technology reduces the normal waiting time between coffee brewing and steam output to just a few seconds. Froth milk to make cappuccinos, lattes, and macchiato coffee at the simple turn of the steam knob. Other highlights include a drip tray that can be easily raised or lowered manually or electrically with a simple touch, allowing for different cup sizes; nanotechnology, which substantially facilitates the cleaning process and guarantees that all components in contact with milk are perfectly clean; a 68-ounce removable water tank; and an Aqua Prima water filter to remove impurities from water for improved coffee taste and protection from limescale damage. The 1500-watt espresso machine measures 18 by 14 by 15 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

I read reviews of multiple automatic expresso machines (deLonghi, Saeco, Gaggia, etc) and was concerned that most brands tend to have some negative reviews of their selected expresso machine breaking down after some time. Since there was no single review that reports on the reliability of these machines, I decided to take my chance with this expresso machine.
The manual of this expresso maker lacks sufficient instructions. Mine came with the new series Intenza water filter. The instruction, with the new water filter, instructs that the existing small white filter needs to be removed and does not provide instructions on its removal. It is only upon calling Saeco customer service that I understood how the small white filter can be removed. And when necessary, I sometimes called Seattle Coffee Gear, whom I originally bought mine from, who has excellent product expertise and customer service.
Most automatic expresso machines come with plastic parts from in to out. So this machine stands out in that the main body is still made from steel.

This product comes with an inbuilt grinder, with small to coarse grinder settings, and thus making it super-handy (fully automatic!).
I used this machine to brew some Blue Mountain coffee. It came out so rich in aroma and taste. Previously I was using some traditional filter to brew this coffee and was not able to discern the aroma and taste of this Blue Mountain coffee.

And the frother is able to froth the milk with a consistent quality as well. And it comes with the option of hot water as well.
I bought this during Jan 2010, so I can't comment on the reliability as yet. So far I cleaned this up after each use. In case, this machine starts breaking down, I will update my review so that future buyers can be fore-warned.1.5 mths later:
Upon power on, the 2 top & 1 bottom leftmost LEDs started flashing. I referred to the manual and it indicated loading and to wait. After waiting 10 mins and resetting the machine, I still observed the same phenomenon. After some tests, I found that it needed priming. So far this has happened twice in the last 2 weeks and priming solves the problem. Saeco USA needs to improve on their manual instructions !!!

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center Review

Jura-Capresso 13339 Impressa Z5 Automatic Coffee/Espresso Center
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned Capresso machines for about the last 8 years or so. Just replaced my Z5. It is expensive but if coffee is important to you, it's worth it.
I can't tell you how much coffee we wasted making a pot at a time the old way. That drove me crazy. Single serve is the way to go. I finally figured out how to make capuchino's with the Z5 and it is so easy! I've got a family of 5 and everyone drinks them now so our machine gets alot of use. I'd venture to say 10 cups a day on average.
We started with a less expensive Capresso model and it worked great but we felt the coffee was not hot enough. We needed more horsepower. The very first Z5 we bought was a lemon and had to be returned. The next one was good for about 3 years until we got the dreaded "Error 8". I did alot of internet research on the best machines available. There was one that seemed very similar to the Z5 but was twice the price. There were others at a lower price but I either did not like the appearance or they did not have all the features. So we stuck with the Z5.
For the more math oriented, here's the way I look at it. If the machine costs $3 grand and lasts 3 years and you make 10 cups of coffee per day, the cost of the machine per cup is under 30 cents each. Then you need to add to that supplies, coffee, water, creamers etc.
Be warned that if you are new to this type of machine it takes some time to master its use.

Make cafe-quality beverages at the press of a button using this fully automatic coffee center. The machine features eight pre-set beverage buttons for creating great-tasting cappuccinos, lattes, hot chocolates, hot teas, one or two cups of ristretto, espressos, cafe lungos, and large cups of crema coffee. Use the pre-set programs or make customized beverages by adjusting the coffee strength, coffee volume, and the amount of steamed or frothed milk. Thoughtfully designed, the unit automatically grinds coffee beans, tamps and brews the coffee, then discards used coffee grounds--all with an exceptionally low level of noise. The coffee center also provides an easy-to-read three-line LED display, a one-touch cappuccino system for making cappuccino or latte without ever moving the cup, and an invisible beam that senses the amount of beans in the bean container and indicates when it needs a refill. A 32-ounce triple-insulated thermal milk container, which effectively keeps milk chilled for up to eight hours, comes included. Made in Switzerland, the coffee center measures 16-1/2 by 12-1/2 by 14 inches and carries a two-year warranty.

... when I looked at the price of these coffee machines, but I am so pleased that I made the leap. It's an expensive luxury, but we've come to feel it's a "must have" if really good coffee is of importance to you. We had had a Capresso coffee machine to make lattes and other treats, so I was familiar with the brand. That gave me the confidence to trust that Jura-Capresso made a machine that might be worth the investment. And boy, are we thrilled!! The coffee is dependably wonderful every time. We don't throw out the last half of a pot nor do we feel compelled to keep drinking just to finish that pot. Each cup is made hot and fresh every time. While it may be pricey, we recommend it. If you need just a little encouragement to switch to such a machine... Go for it!

This machine is aesthetically pleasing and pulls great espresso shots. With good quality beans I am able to make as good a latte as I can find in places like Peets with pleasing frothing and nice crema. But the machine is falling apart! After just 4 months the ball joint of the frothing wand is broken and to have it repaired I was told by the US distributor that I must send it back to NY (at my expense) and be without it for 3 weeks.
Bottom line the best machine imaginable if you are ok replacing it reliability and good customer service is not a concern to you. Maurigo

Saeco S-OG-SG Odea Giro Super-Automatic Espresso Machine Review

Saeco S-OG-SG Odea Giro Super-Automatic Espresso Machine

This is a great machine for the price! At first I was nervous because of the plastic feel, but it seems to be holding up really well. It is very quick to heat up. VERY quiet considering the ceramic grinder. It is given 4 stars because of how quickly the drip tray fills up (near the coffee grounds drawer) otherwise I would give this a 5 star rating. It has to be emptied once a day if you have used the machine a lot. We do because it has the awesome feature of sending out hot water with the spout just by pushing the water button and turing the knob on top. So we use this machine for hot tea too! Also the water tank is a little hard to get out. Maybe we are being too gentle with it, but you do just have to give it a little extra pull. The adjustable drip tray (in front) is great. I just make my latte to go in a travel mug. The ability to switch from frothing the milk - which is very fast - to immediately making the espresso it my favorite feature.
Overall this is an excellent machine, makes great espresso, easy to use, and looks great too!
