Sunbeam Rocket Grill Review

Sunbeam Rocket Grill

The rocket grill is the best kitchen appliance I've ever purchased! It cooks meats perfectly, and there is absolutely no clean up. Steak that isn't frozen cooks in 4-5 minutes with beautiful grill marks, and the meat is juicy and delicious. I haven't cooked frozen meat yet, but I've been told it does great with that as well. I have no idea what the person who gave this one star is talking about. Maybe they have this machine confused with something else, because the Rocket Grill is fantastic.

Sunbeam 7530 Rocket Grill Electric Grilling Appliance Review

I bought my Rocket Grill about a week ago from the TV add. I usually shop Amazon when I see something on TV that I like but this time it looked so good I just called up and did the deal on the spot. I could have saved a few bucks had I gone to ...zon first and ordered on line.
Even so I am very pleased with the item to the point I wanted to share the experience with those now thinking of buying one.
To me the best feature is that just like the other reviews, there is no clean up. I figured that was a bit too good be true and it almost is. So far, the only clean up needed was to sponge off the lid. A very slight residue of oil will settle on the inside of the lid as the heated steam from the cooking process rises and passes through. The lid is extremely easy to remove so this kind of clean up is almost negligible.
Let me tell you, I've tried a bunch of kitchen grilling systems. There are those where I would set it and forget it, infra-red convection whiz-bang thingies with huge plastic bell shaped lid, toaster ovens of different varieties and a score of others. They all have their cooking gimmicks and most do a good job of cooking as promoted. BUT THE MESS they made always ruined it. Clean up took longer than the cooking did so after a few tries, those devices were stored and not used. Eventually they would be given to a family member (heh), sold or donated.
The Rocket Grill is a keeper and I will use it regularly. Last night I made two frozen filet mignon steaks today I heated up previously cooked rotisserie chicken, made some hot dogs and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
Haven't needed to wash a thing. The secret is in the parchment pouches into which the food is put and within which the food is cooked. Essentially all the grease, fat, spatter, etc is retained inside the bag. Nothing but the steam gets out. No spatter, no cooked on grease, no crumbs, no kidding !!! Nuff Said ... get it !!! You'll love it.

Parchment-paper cooking is a time-tested method used by chefs around the world. With this in mind, Sunbeam developed the Rocket Grill electric grilling appliance, which uses special parchment pouches to hold in all the juices and keep food moist and flavorful. Plus, the pouches channel fat and grease away from food to a reservoir at the bottom of the pouch for reduced fat intake. Enjoy grilled steaks, hamburgers, bratwurst, grilled-cheese sandwiches, veggies, fish, chicken, deserts, and more. To use, simply place food into the parchment pouch, place the pouch into the grill, slide the switch to the desired setting--fresh or frozen--and set the timer. The unit grills most fresh foods in 3 to 8 minutes and most frozen foods in 8 to 12 minutes, for a reduced grilling time of 300 percent--perfect for healthy, delicious meals at a speed that can keep up with any busy schedule. Hamilton Beach 80365 Custom Grind Hands-Free Coffee Grinder, Platinum Review

Hamilton Beach 80365 Custom Grind Hands-Free Coffee Grinder, Platinum

I too read all the reviews... I spent several hours, so let me save you the trouble. This item is sturdy, washable, compact, and grinds beans for anywhere from 4-12 cups of coffee.
I use it for both my 2 cup french press and my percolator, when my mill & brew coffee maker, which I have two carafs and 3 baskets for, is busy. We really get into coffee here - I must have 10 varieties of beans in the freezer.
It also did a fabulous job grinding hazelnuts very fine for a cookie dough where the hazelnuts were, in effect, part of the flour.
I do love that the grinder basket and top can go in the dishwasher, and the little brush that is stowed on the back is a thoughtful and utilized addition.
The only drawback would be that if you are only making 2 cups of coffee and you want a course grind, you have to let the machine think you're making 8 cups, by moving the cup setting, as this machine is intended to grind beans for a minimum of 4 cups. When I make enough coffee for my percolator, I can get an intermediate course grind with no problem.
What sold me was this: After I read all the reviews I went to my local "megamart," found the grinders, opened up the boxes of the makes I wanted to compare, and I literally took things apart and put them back together.
Like another reviewer warned, stay away from those other grinders with the tiny (you can barely see them) plastic pins that engage the start button. Once those bits of plastic break off, you're SOL.
This is a very reasonably priced maker which I've had for 6 months. I love it so much, that for much of that time I've felt just a bit guilty that I hadn't yet praised this maker on Amazon. With that done - it's time to grind some beans. :) Enjoy.
PS: It looks very pretty/handsome on the counter.

KitchenAid 12-Cup Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker Review

KitchenAid 12-Cup Thermal Carafe Coffee Maker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This replaced a Krups coffee maker (KM4065).
This coffee maker has been wonderful. As another reviewer mentioned, it has one of the best pouring spouts around. The carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least 2.5 hours, and reasonably warm enough after 3 hours. A side note: make sure you see the small arrow indicator on the lid of the carafe, and that this arrow points toward the spout of the carafe when installed. We had placed the lid on the carafe with the arrow facing the toward the handle because it appeared to be a "selector arrow" matching the selctable positions with words on the carafe for "lock" "pour" and "open", but the arrow is actually supposed to point toward the spout "outlet" while pouring coffee. It'd be helpful if Kitchenaid could modify the lid with a white (or molded) dot to indicate in which of the position it is set. That's a negligible issue.
Coffee is brewed at a pleasingly hot temperature. Other coffee makers I've used have not heated the water enough.
The removable water tank is a superb feature that the Krups had which we were not wanting to give up. This coffee maker has a much better implementation of the tank that allows it to fit snugly into the coffee maker with practically no fussing or adjusting; it just settles into its slot perfectly. The Krups unit required lots of adjusting to have the tank drop into place.
The blue lighted display is very nice and matches a lot of the current appliance displays. It's not a glaringly bright display, which is nice because the Krups unit was unfortunately like a night light. The numbers not huge, and are somewhat fine, not bold or blocky.
This unit has a feature which should be user-selectable to be switched off: the unit beeps once when the BREW button is pushed, and emits 3 short, semi-loud beeps when brewing is finished. It's nice to have a audible confirmation that the Brew button has been pressed, or when brewing has finished, but if someone is sleeping nearby and you're trying to make coffee quietly, the beeping can be a bit annoying.
The only other very minor issue is that the coffee grinds basket is shallow (but hasn't overflowed any coffee grounds) and uses the "Bunn" type flat bottom filters which have been difficult to identify as to the type. Fortunately, this coffee maker comes with its own gold tone reusable filter basket, so filters aren't really necessary. It also comes with 3 or 4 "trial" paper filters. The gold tone basket is great, but because we use a coffee grinder we sometimes have very fine coffee "powder" that can flow through the gold filter basket. Nowhere in the documentation does it mention what type of paper filters should be used; the "trial filters" provided came in a clear plastic bag with no identifying labels. Since this is a 12-cup coffee maker we're going to try the Bunn flat-bottom 12-cup filters, but they appear to be too large, so perhaps the Bunn 10-cup flat-bottom filters would work better.
Overall, I would highly recommend this unit as one of the best 12-cup coffee makers currently available. The carafe and removeable water tank (reservoir) also help make this unit one of the best.

Mesh Lingerie Delicates Wash Bag - Household Essentials #121 Review

Mesh Lingerie Delicates Wash Bag - Household Essentials #121
Average Reviews:

This was perfect for washing my traditionally "handwash only" items. My bras kept their shape and suffered no damage. I did NOT machine dry them, of course-I washed them in this bag, alone, on the GENTLE cycle, in COLD water. I then laid them out to dry so they kept their shape. This bag protected them perfectly, and didn't twist them or ruin their shape. Be careful-bra clasps will snag on mesh if you try to pull bras out without making sure they're not hooked first. The mesh is strong, but you don't want to lose a bra clasp.

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver Review

Mr. Coffee BVMC-KG1 Single Serve Brewing System, Silver
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Just picked this up last night. To keep it simple, here's a pros and cons list of the coffee maker (not the k cup system)
Pros
Small. Fits really nicely anywhere.
Fast. Brews a cup in about 1-2 minutes.
Quiet. Not whisper silent, but quiet enough to not be annoying.
Taste. This is probably more a testament to the k cup system, but the coffee brewed tastes great.
Cheap. One of the cheapest, if not the cheapest k cup machine.
Cons
Brews in small quantities. It brews in only one size, and using a standard mug, it leaves an inch of room from the top. Average i Guess, but can be quite annoying if you enjoy larger portions, ex. Travel mug size.
Too short. Even after removing the drip tray that adds another 3/4 inch or so in height, you cannot fit many normal sized travel mugs underneath. Although, this is a moot point considering you'd only be filling it up about halfway, if even.
Temperature. Even handling immediately after brewing, the temperature is a bit too cool for me. Not to say its not hot enough if you drink it right away, because it is. But for those of you like me, who are looking to take a cup on the road every morning, i usually prefer that it be a little too hot, and have it cool off over time.
Water. It only holds one serving size of water. Must refill for every cup.
Haven't decided if im going to return it or not. The temperature and brew quantity are the biggest deal breakers for me, but not sure if its worth the extra 60 bucks to upgrade to a brewer that can do all those things.
Summary.
If you're looking for a cup of coffee at home that doesn't take a lot of space, this would be perfect for you.
If you're looking to fill up a travel mug, and/or take coffee on the road, I'd advise that you look at other options.
****** Update 1/24/2011***********
Ultimately I decided to stick with this unit, mostly due to cost and laziness. For my personal use, I've actually found it quite adequate (despite my cons list in my original review).
After using this for awhile now, the omission of a temperature setting is not a big deal, as everything still comes out hot enough for me. The fact that it only brews in one (slightly too small) size still kind of sucks, but not like "I HATE IT" sucks, but more like bothers-me-when-I-really-need-a-caffeine-fix-once-every-couple-weeks sucks. Ultimately, it's insignificant enough that I've forgot about the issue.
The unit is holding up great. Still brews fast, brews hot, brews yummy.
The only slightly annoying thing that I've discovered, is that the drip tray seems to catch any water you don't get exactly in the little opening of the reservoir. So depending on how much you're paying attention when you fill it, it tends to fill up quickly (drip tray is not that deep). So I end up having to empty it at least once every few brews. Luckily it's parked right next to my wine bar sink, so it's not an issue. For those that are placing this inconvenient to a sink, it could get annoying.

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black Review

George Foreman GRP72CTB G-Broil Electric Nonstick Countertop Grill, Black
Average Reviews:

We previously had a smaller george forman grill with a little blue dome on top for 'bun heating'. It was hard to fit food for 2 on it. Despite that, we pretty much wore it into the ground and decided to get a larger one, specifically this model because we desperately needed removable plates and the extra space.
I tend to use the GF grill when I'm eating home alone, because it's super easy to use and makes a fast dinner - throw your chicken on, make some cous cous and peas, and you've got the perfect meal(in my humble opinion). A sore spot was created by the old grill, because darn it, I just HATED cleaning it. and if I didn't clean it after each and every use, my boyfriend would mention it without fail. His pet peeve is that I didn't always clean it immediately, my pet peeve was that I had to clean it at all.
One thing I've heard is that it doesn't get as hot due to the removable plates. I would agree with this, but I don't really consider it a "con" of the appliance, just something I noticed. It gets hot enough and still gives a nice color and grill lines to your chicken or whatever you're making. A few new features I love: For starters, its much nicer looking then the old style grey/blue one we had. It's sleek and sexy - if that's possible for an appliance. There is an on/off switch, the drip tray actually conforms to the machine and fits snug right under the front, no more getting knocked over by accident. It also has little latches on the side to lock the top and bottom together for easy storage. And last but not least, the miraculous fact that the removable plates are DISHWASHER SAFE!!!!!!!! ( I swear, the angels just came out and made that angelic chorus of ta-da type music).
I am no longer in trouble for not cleaning the foreman. yay!! I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat. I think it makes a great gift and is a staple in any type of cook's kitchen(we're totally both amateur home chefs).

Sporting a sleek, contemporary design in durable housing, this electric grill features 72 square inches of cooking surface and a 1-1/2-inch float-and-lock hinge for top melting and to accommodate thick grilled-cheese sandwiches, broiled fish, hamburgers, and more. The appliance's appeal lies in its simplicity and countertop convenience--not to mention its fat-fighting ability. Its sloped design channels fat away from food and into the drip tray. Even more, double nonstick-coated plates provide the option for low-fat cooking and ensure easy food release. Other highlights include variable temperature control, safe-touch top housing for peace of mind, dishwasher-safe removable grill plates, and locking side latches that allow for compact vertical storage when not in use. Two drip trays and two spatulas come included. With its extended metal loop handle, the grill measures approximately 14-8/9 by 15-8/9 by 6-4/5 inches.
