Still one of the easiest, cleanest, and healthiest ways to prepare food.

(More customer reviews)I bought it for $10 a few years ago. This is great if you can "cook" at work. Just throw a frozen hamberger patty and you have something to eat in 10 mins. But the surface is really small, so you can only cook small quantity at a time. Also cleaning is not as easy as they say. You can't throw it in the dishwasher. The grill outside gets sticky from the greasy fume so in that respect it takes more work to clean. Inside is pretty much wiping off the juice and the residue but I use soapy water and a sponge so I have to do that a few times as well. If you are single, live in a bachelor/studio or stove-less environment like a student, this is a great addition to a microwave.

(More customer reviews)I got this based on the fact that you can put the grill plates in the dishwasher, HOWEVER, beware, they oxidize in the dishwasher. Meaning the back of the cooking plates, turn blak and wipe off on your towels, hands, ect. I called the manufactor and said this is normal, and i shouldnt wash them in the dishwaher very often. So much for convience!
Other than that problem, it cooks awesome! I loved the temp control and timer. Great Features!! Plus it held 6 burgers!
I would buy this again, but would never put it my dishwasher.
I will always wash by hand.

(More customer reviews)We bought this grill to replace our old GF grill that was about 10 years old. We use this several times a week, and I really miss the old grill.
This does cook meat really quickly, but it lacks a timer and a temperature option that our old GF grill did have. It will burn meat very quickly and puts out a lot of smoke b/c it cooks too fast. This is the only jumbo size, so I guess it will have to do for now. If a timer and temp option were on here, it would make a big difference.

(More customer reviews)I originally bought this model grill thinking I'd use it a couple times a week due to the easy use and cleaning I've seen with other models. I was very wrong. I've found that instead of dripping into the little plastic tray, the grease runs down the curved bottom of the grill and eventually creates a big mess of the counter-top. I really wish I had gone a size bigger. If you are planning to grill decent sized chicken breasts, you have to do it one piece at a time. Finally, it heats very unevenly. Place two burgers on it at the same time and the burger on the right will be slightly burnt while the left burger is barely done. All these things combine into me using this maybe once a month if that, because I don't want to be bothered with the mess and inconvenience.

(More customer reviews)I own many of these products and they are great. I was dissapointed, the first one had paint chips and I ordered a new one, then the second one did as well and I just decided to keep it. Other than that, this is an excellent product.
One word of advice, use a soft cloth to clean and do it when it is hot. I had to replace two of these because I used a plastic scrubby thing and the non-stick surface began to bubble and peel.

Steak that isn't frozen cooks in 4-5 minutes with beautiful grill marks, and the meat is juicy and delicious. I haven't cooked frozen meat yet, but I've been told it does great with that as well. I have no idea what the person who gave this one star is talking about. Maybe they have this machine confused with something else, because the Rocket Grill is fantastic.

(More customer reviews)I had lusted after this little baby for some time and finally bought it when I found a great deal on it. It makes the most amazing sandwiches, which you can custom-tailor to your tastes. I also used it for a rolled flank steak, stuffed with mushrooms and cut into thick slices. Each slice cooked perfectly at medium heat, although like all steaks, it requires a watchful eye to prevent overcooking.
My experience with vegetables was similarly good. Peppers, onions, eggplant slices all cook in minutes with good result. I have not tried chicken breasts, but from reading the other reviews, imagine that the results will be similar.
One negative: fish can be a tricky business on this grill. I cooked an ahi steak for only a few minutes and it was overdone. I bought a stovetop grill pan specifically for fish after that (well, I confess I do throw a little bacon on it too from time to time).
I am quite satisfied with this panini grill, and love my homemade paninis. I found that a sliced kaiser or hoagie roll works well, as well as thickly sliced Italian or sourdough bread. My favorite sandwich?: thickly sliced bread, olive tapenade, roasted red pepper slices and sliced fontina. Who said heaven isn't right here?

(More customer reviews)Was looking to replace my older foreman grill that died after 2-years, most of the new medium/large foreman grills are 72-square inches, a few are 84-inches and larger and twice the price of this one. This grill is listed as 1000w and cooks meats, fish, pork, hotdogs perfectly, only small issue is sometimes bread or fish will stick to the surface, lightly use non-stick spray on the grill beforehand to avoid it.
The gill can hold two burgers and nothing more as the surface is little small, it's good for 1-2 persons. The grease drips down on the plastic tray and heat disperses out of the back, no smoke problems, have not had any issues cooking anything on it. Has removable plates which is a huge bonus, after grilling, wipe them down when there still hot with a sponge and soap, let it sit in the sink and all the grease/junk, etc will come off easily. Don't put them in a dishwasher. Also, do not use metal pads as the coating will come off. The plates snap back on very easy too. Used this 20 times with no issues of the plates falling off or unable to put back on.
My only complaint is george foreman needs to make this grill bigger to cook 4 burgers at once and all new models should have not only removable plates, but reversible.
EDIT 9/18/09
After using this grill for about 30 times now, the coating is wearing off and everything is sticking to it. Have not used anything abrasive, just a sponge and soap. unit is going back to the store.

(More customer reviews)Finally, a product that lives up to all its hype and doesn't end up wasting precious kitchen space like the food processors, bread machines, etc. we have bought in the past but all too often turn out to be too much of a pain to clean and assemble. I've had mine for over a year now...we live in an apartment where kitchen space is at a premium. On hot days, if I turn on the oven or stove, it heats the whole kitchen and half our place up. To top it off, I'm a vegetarian -- hubby is not. The George Foreman Champ grill is terrific -- I buy those extra-lean premade frozen hamburger patties at Safeway, and even Jim (whose specialty is cereal with milk) can get motivated enough to plug the grill in, heat it up and toss a patty, or an Italian sausage, boneless chicken breast, etc. for a quick lunch, dinner or snack. Best of all, no splatter of grease like you would get using a skillet - the grease just runs off! Besides cooking for hubby, I have also used it to make super GRILLED CHEESE SANDWICHES, and Gardenburgers come out great. And that non-stick surface is great -- so easy to clean! I just can't say enough good things about the George Foreman Grill. I've recommended it to countless people and even bought several for presents (my sister and brother-in-law bought about 15 of them last Christmas for relative presents!). So buy it already! It's great!

I received one as a Christmas gift and have used it once. That was enough for me!
First and foremost, the burgers are just too small. Think of them as more like burger crumbs.
But then you get to the clean up part...aargh! What a headache! With the tiny little holes and all the other little crevices, and it winds up taking hours to clean.
If I'm using a grill, I want quick and easy with minimal clean up.
The slider grill isn't it.

I have used this exact same Foreman for grilling chicken and heating leftover food for approx. 3 years and purchased a 2nd for my other home. I love the thing. The new Foreman is certainly bigger than my prevoius unit, but oh is it ever versatile. Take a look at what I cooked and my thoughts on positives and negatives of this grill:
What I cooked:
Frozen Teriyaki Grilled Chicken Strips purchased from Trader Joes
Raw Turkey Burger
Frozen Chicken Breast
Quesadilla Cheese and Chicken
Raw Chicken Skewers
Costco purchased Chicken Dogs
Cornbread Muffins
Positives:
-Yes, I said Cornbread muffins in the same Foreman as Raw Turkey Burger! Not at the same time. The Foreman comes with a great manual that describes the times and temperatures for many, many different items-so it takes the guessing out of the way. Fish, Chicken, Red Meat, Muffins, Waffles, you name it!
-Because this Foreman has variable temperature it is extremely versatile and you can grill just the way you like it. This is a HUGE plus because with most all other Foreman's you must grill at one temperature and leave on longer or shorter. Getting the center of meat cooked or warmed could be challenging because of no variable temperature. No more!
-There is also a timer on this so you do not have to use a stove timer, or watch.
-You can tilt this one or have it not tilted and there is plenty of room for the "Mouth" to open for a variety of things.
-The cooking surface is 72" so it's big enough to get on lots of food!
-It heats up to 300 degrees in 5 minutes. That's fast!
-The removable plates are easy to clean-easier than a regular grill
-Food tastes to much better warmed with the Foreman the microwave! Very juicy.
-Amazing versatility with the new plates. The bake dish means you could do Lasagne, Calzone, etc. as well as Cornbread, muffins and more. Who knew such a thing could be done with one device?
-Perfect for a camping trip with a generator to give you more than a grill-but an Oven as well!
Negatives-
-This is bigger than past Foreman's (see dimensions on product) so you need a place to store it and every time you bring it out it is a bit hefty. Also, because there are different plates that come with it-those will need to be stored somewhere else as well. If you are limited in space-this might not be for you if all you need is a quick basic grill and Panini Press-style device.
-It is expensive. I think the more basic ones are about $45 and this one is triple that. If you are going to use the versatility of it or you are going to grill with this a lot vs an outdoor grill-it's worth it. For the casual user-too much money.
Overall, I love this new Foreman and sadly I am giving my old one to my in-laws. I love that thing, but I love this one more!

Breville BSG520XL Panini Duo 1500-Watt Nonstick Panini Press Review

(More customer reviews)The immediate comparison I made when I received this Panini press was to the Cuisinart GR-3 Griddler Jr, Brushed Stainless Steel, and the key difference between the two products (and the reason I'm giving the better constructed, perhaps even better performing press three stars rather than five) is you can remove the plates in the Cuisinart, and you cannot in the Breville. Convenience and ease of use are central considerations when it comes to just how much you're going to want to use these 'extra' kitchen devices, and if it's a headache to clean something like burnt/stuck preserves, then you're going to be less likely to want to pull it out and use it again.
I want to back up a little bit, because I think Breville generally designs and manufactures outstanding high-quality but still affordable products. This press is no exception. Having used both this Breville and the aforementioned Cuisinart, I would give the Breville the edge on almost every single front. It feels more solidly constructed of higher quality materials, it seems to heat more evenly, although the Cuisinart does allow a range of temperature settings as opposed to Breville's one-temp-fits-all approach. I actually like having one flat and one grilled plate in the Breville, compared to the two grilled plates in the Cuisinart -- the flat surface providing a much more even and consistent heat that really radiates into the middle of the sandwich better than the more limited surface contact provided by just grill plates (but you still have the all-important texture and grill marks from the top plate). Both adapt to larger sandwiches. Both sport non-stick surfaces (although the Breville's is much smoother as the Cuisinart employs a grittier non-stick treatment). Both are perfectly sized for a couple good-sized sandwiches, without all the wasted space that comes with and from the larger models in each line.
I like this press enough that even as I wrap this review up I wonder if I should be giving it 4 stars rather than 3. Standing on its own, it deserves every bit of 4 stars. It's when it's held in contrast to a like-priced alternative like the Cuisinart that the Breville loses some of its luster, and then really only due to a question of pure convenience (in the form of removable plates).
If those removable plates aren't of particular importance to you, I actually recommend this press over the Cuisinart. For me, the convenience of cleaning the removable plates provide is what makes it an easy decision between the two when I want to grill a sandwich.

(More customer reviews)1) There is no on/off button. You plug it in and it starts to heat up. Meaning you must unplug to turn it off.
2) Storing it was a bit difficult as the handle makes it an awkward shape to fit into standard cabinets. I finally had to stand it up on its back in an extra high cabinet. Maybe deeper shelving would help. It's not a flat unit, so you can't stack skillets and the like on top of it very easily.
3) In the video I comment on how maybe I should have used the flat grill for the turkey patties. Wife corrected me saying the panini hot plates allow the fat to drip down easier.
4) Manual comes with cooking time suggestions on several types of foods along with some recipes in the back of the manual.
5) After the end of the video/cooking I was away for 20 minutes with the grill open to cool. It was plenty cool enough in that time to remove and wash the hot plates.
6) As you can see, I can fit about three fist-sized patties flattened onto a single side. I find it very funny that the stock photos show only two pieces of bacon. I personally would not cook bacon on this thing since the grease splattering that normally comes with bacon will go everywhere! Talk about a mess to clean up. But its a great size for pancakes and you can cook one on each side at the same time.
7) The non-stick hot plates clean up easy enough with some hot water and soap.

OVERALL: It's another Foreman grill with some added versatility to handle thicker items or give you more cooking surface when needed. Heats up fast. Cooks fast (depending on what you're cooking) and cleans up easy. Other than the aesthetics and storage challenges, this is a great unit.

(More customer reviews)I've been watching George's informercials and regular commercials since they first appeared, and I've always been tempted to buy a grill. They were kinda pricey, so I never did. But then, I got one of the small grills with the bun warmer as a gift, and now... I AM HOOKED! I have every intention of buying the extra large grill as a result of the fun I've had with this one.
What you've heard about the grills is all true--they're really easy to clean, they cook food incredibly fast and evenly, and food really does come out as juicy and tender as the commercials show you. Tell you how good it works: I decided to grill skinless, boneless chicken tenders one night for dinner, but they were frozen solid, and I had a group of surly, hungry family members waiting. Just as a gamble, I put the tenders on the George grill to THAW them a little. Well, they thawed all right and were completely cooked in about 8 minutes. Color me surprised!
I've done steak, pork chops, chicken, and shrimp on this little grill, and with each use, I get better and better at gauging the cooking time. I do recommend that you use cooking spray to further the ease of cleanup because spices and marinades tend to blacken (or even burn) where the ridges press into the meat, and cooking spray will slow/stop that. As there's no temperature control on this model, everything cooks at max power, so time is of the essence in making sure what you're cooking doesn't blacken too much.
The bun warmer does just what it promises--warms. No worries about burning the bread because it doesn't toast; it just makes your breads nice and soft. I enjoy the color choices for the lid with this model--I think it's a fun little extra that gives some personality to a simple appliance (I recommend the purple). There's a spatula and drip tray included, and you'll find that the spatula is better used as a scraper than it is for anything else--it makes short work of removing stuck-on food, etc. You'll be stunned to see just how much fat drains away from your food.
If I had to come up with one negative point about the grill, I'd say this: it's not hard to burn yourself on it. The heated surface extends to the sides of the grill, so if you go to move the whole unit, it's really easy to char your fingers.
It's a great introduction to the George Foreman line of grills! The price is incredibly reasonable, and the machine works so well, you'll be glad you got one.

(More customer reviews)I saw this product on QVC and was intrigued by the possibilties. The model on QVC turned out to be only 1500 watts with less cooking real estate for the same $99.00 I paid on Amazon.
The package was delivered quicker than I had anticipated so no complaints from me. The box was intact and didn't look like it had been abused during shipping.
The Griddler was easy to assemble and as advertised most of the parts are dishwasher safe. After running the parts through the dishwasher, we used it for the first time this evening.
In the lower area, I placed 6 skewers of beef shish-ka-bobs and on the upper grill, grilled a steak. The shish-ka-bobs were cooked to perfection in about 20 minutes. The veggies were cooked but still had a little "crunch" while the meat was very tender and cooked to medium.
The grill imparts some attractive "grill" marks on the steak, and the steak was cooked evenly. Even though the steak had been rubbed down with some olive oil and other seasonings, there wasn't any smoke. The cooking task was completed in about 10 minutes for medium. Unfortunately meat grilled on an indoor electric grill doesn't taste the same as meat grilled on an outdoor gas grill. That's probably because the dripping meat juices can't be vaporized on an indoor grill like they are on an outdoor gas grill. Those vapors help flavor the meat further. I expected as much so I didn't take off any stars.
Give the Griddler ample time to cool down before attempting to clean. It is very easy to clean. As stated before most of the parts are dishwasher safe. The grill plate was particularly easy to rinse and wipe off before putting it into the dishwasher. Crusted cooking residue didn't stick and could be removed with your fingers under a litte running water.
Something everyone should be aware of is the Griddler puts out a lot of heat. It will get hot. Very hot. Families with kids need to understand that when the lower cooking area is being used, the upper cooking grill/griddle is just as hot. Keep young kids away and be careful that nothing gets placed on the upper cooking area (except food to be cooked) while the unit is in use. I used the Griddler on the stove where the kids know to stay away.
Overall this is an easy product to recommend. While I prefer the taste of meat grilled from a gas grill, the Griddler will work fine when outside temperatures and inclement weather dictate using the indoor grill. Finally this unit is not small and will take up some room if you're going to store it. But the Griddler is attractive enough to leave out and its functional enough that it should be used often.
UPDATE: We used the Griddler rather extensively over the weekend. Hotdogs were cooked on the lower level while the buns were toasted on the upper cooking area. The dogs were cooked perfect. Later we sauteed a large amount of onions and mushrooms on the griddle. Again the results were perfect, and we could lower the heat to keep the onions and shroons warm while other items were prepared. Cleanup was very easy and quick.
