The Original Bra Baby Review

The Original Bra Baby

I had high hopes for this product. It fell way beyond short of my expectations though. Speaking of 'fell' that is exactly what happened to my bras in this thing. I tried it a few times with different types of bras to be certain. But yes, my bra keep slipping out no matter how many times I wrapped it and snuggled it in the inner ball. It would slip out nad get tangled in the ball and my other clothing. Back to hand washing for me.

iRobot 12101 Looj Electric Gutter Cleaning Robot Review

iRobot 12101 Looj Electric Gutter Cleaning Robot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The Looj Gutter-Cleaning Robot from iRobot - like most things, it doesn't quite live up to its hype, but its still a worthy aid in your gutter cleaning chores. First thing to mention is that calling this thing a "robot" is very misleading. A robot can minimally sense its surroundings and make some decisions based on the sensors - like the Roomba robotic vacuum. This can do nothing of the sort and is simply a remote-controlled gutter cleaner.
As with other iRobot products, the Looj requires a lengthy battery chargeup of 15 hours before use, so the first thing I bumped into was the very rudimentary battery setup. To begin with, the battery compartment has 2 screws requiring a phillips head screwdriver to get into. While this is not a big problem, it just seems like you shouldn't have to use tools to access a battery that you will have to charge frequently.
The battery pack itself is connected to the Looj with an automotive style plastic connector. You have to squeeze a little lever on it to release it from the unit and connect it to the charger.
The charger is really just a small power brick with a low current delivery so it essentially trickle-charges the battery, which is why it takes 15 hours to charge. There are also stickers all over the place warning not to charge it for more than 15 hours or you could damage the battery. So this "charger" does not sense the battery state, and will not turn off when it reaches full capacity.
This makes charging an exercise in planning. Before you plug it in, you need to be sure that 15 hours from now you are not asleep or at work or shopping. Also, what do you do if you've used it for 20 minutes and want to charge it back up all the way? How long should you leave it in the charger? Who knows?
This is the kind of charging system that hobbyists use on radio controlled cars or planes. While serviceable, it only appeals to the tinkerer, not the home owner. I haven't seen this kind of system on a normal consumer device in years.
In the best case, the Looj itself should rest in a cradle that charges it automatically and shuts off when full - no battery removal required. Barring that, the battery should be easily removed (without tools!) and put into an auto-charging cradle. To the iRobot company I say "shame on you" for claiming to be a high tech "robot" company while delivering such a low tech battery system.
So lets get to the Looj itself. The first thing you deal with is the handle/remote-control. The idea is to use the handle to put the Looj into the gutter, release it, and then click the handle back on to extract it when done. This feature goes on the list of "doesn't quite work as advertised".
If your gutters are large and wide open, you can probably put it in using the handle. Mine were kind of tight and I had to put the Looj in sideways to get it past the overhanging shingles, and then straighten it out once inside. The handle was in the way and had to be removed first.
But, more importantly, getting the handle back on afterwards varies from tricky to impossible. In the best case, lining the handle up and getting it locked in securely is hit or miss. Several times I picked it up and the handle popped off. But, if you've encountered any amount of debris when cleaning the gutter, it clogs up the slots where the handle attaches and it becomes impossible to reattach without first cleaning the unit.
My personal opinion is that the handle should just be a small pocket sized remote control. The Looj can be easily inserted into the gutter and retrieved without the use of the handle.
The next thing to consider is how the Looj travels down the gutter. If the gutters are large and clear of obstructions, no problem. I had a bent nail I had to fix to allow it to pass - certainly not the Looj's fault. But there were some other locations where the gutter brackets were a little unusual and it got stuck under a couple of them. A bit of back-and-forth with the remote freed it up.
Probably the biggest impediment to its travel is the antenna. Its not quite as flexible as it ought to be, and can sometimes bend into a loop that binds in the gutter and stops the Looj. In spite of the rubber treads, the Looj does not have a lot of traction and can be stopped fairly easily.
This happened frequently when I first used it. I noticed that, when free, the antenna leaned to one side and was bent into a bit of a curve - perhaps from the way it was shipped. I spent some time straightening it out so that it stood straight up, and had significantly fewer problems. There were still a couple of times when I had to work it free, but was always able to.
So in the end, how good a job did it do on the gutters? Pretty good actually. The place where it didn't work so well is when it encountered what I call wet gutter sludge. This is the heavy stuff composed mostly of gravel from the roof shingles, mixed with a little dirt and water. It moved this stuff off to the side of the gutter, and flung some of it out, but quite a bit remained. I think this might be more easily removed in the dry summer months when its more dusty/gravely instead of sludgy. Plus, there is usually only a small layer of this heavy sludge in the bottom of the gutter and it doesn't interfere much with the gutter's water flow.
The stuff that does interfere with the flow is leaves, twigs, pine needles, and the lighter weight wet glop made of decomposing leaves and organic matter. Here's where the Looj did its job with aplomb. The only thing you might need to be concerned about is what's below the gutter. The Looj flings wet gloppy stuff all over everything below the gutter and for about 6 feet away from it. This is just the Looj doing its job correctly, but you should move anything that you don't want pasted with this stuff.
When you're done, the gutter is much cleaner that before, but not completely clean. Since the auger rotates in front, the cleaning patter is circular, but the gutter is not. So a certain amount of stuff gets left in the lower corners of the gutter. On heavily clogged areas, I had to drive the Looj back and forth several times to get most of the stuff out.
The battery life seems good. I did my entire house (2000 sq ft, 2 story) and part of a barn before I ran out of daylight, but the battery did not seem to be slowing down at all.
Oh, one last thing. If your gutters are damp, be prepared to take a shower when you're done. You'll get stuff flung at you when the Looj is near the ladder. Also, hanging the wet, glop-covered Looj on your belt loop will soak your leg and cover your jeans with dirt.
So bottom line: would I buy one again? Yes I would! If I compare it to the expectations I had from the advertising hype, I'd rate it a 5 out of 10. But if I just rate it against the job it needs to do, I'd probably give it about an 8. It cut my job time to half what it would normally take me (maybe less), made it a lot easier, and most importantly made it MUCH safer.
If you have a house with lots of short gutter runs, this is probably not for you. If you're expecting this to almost do the job for you you'll be disappointed. You still have to get up on the ladder, move the ladder around, get the Looj in and out, clean it off regularly, etc. But it DEFINITELY cuts the job down to size. And for that, I think its worth the price.

SF-290 Floor Steam Mop and Multi-Purpose Steamer Review

SF-290 Floor Steam Mop and Multi-Purpose Steamer
Average Reviews:

I stumbled upon this item, when searching to get the new Shark steam floor mop, which is being advertised on TV. Unable to find a way to get the "free" mop covers for the unit online, I bumped into this item and found that it seemed much more versatile, for less than what the Shark is selling for. The unit can be used to clean just about anything, while the Shark mop is strictly a floor mop. I had missed the Scunci Steamer I had, which conked out after just about a year of very light use. Very dissappointing. When it worked, it did a great job, but it was not a floor cleaner. This SF-290 is better than both the Shark and the Scunci, for my purposes, because it does everything. I have a one bedroom apartment, and it cleans everything in it just fine. My kitchen floor has never been cleaner, and there is no sticky residue or chemical smell; just clean and fresh. I can freshen the carpeting, and it even removed some stubborn stains that I could not get out, no matter how much scrubbing I'd done. I freshen the furniture as well, which is great to combat my allergies. I don't know if a unit this small would work in a large house, but for a smaller area, it works great! A tip is to turn the mop cover inside out and use it on the other side before washing it. You can also remove it, rinse it out and continue using it for a time. I ordered additional Bissell mop covers, since I figured one would not be enough.

Euro-Pro SC505 Shark Portable Pro Steam Cleaner Review

Euro-Pro SC505 Shark Portable Pro Steam Cleaner

I'm a teacher and I don't have a lot of time to spend cleaning the house. A friend told me about a wonderful new machine to make my household tasks easier...a vapor steam cleaner. Unfortunately, I thought the Shark Portable was what she was referring to. As it turns out, this thing is a major disappointment.
I told my friend about my frustration and she told me to go to [another web site] and take a look. I did and I bought what they call a Vapor 2000. What a product! While the Shark Portable leaks water all over the place, and actually makes cleaning more work, I cleaned and sanitized my kitchen and bathrooms in no time flat with my 2000 and a little tap water. What a gift for a "cleaning fanatic" like me who doesn't have the time to clean...and who hates using chemicals.
I'd pass on the Shark if I were you. There are better products out there.

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed Review

Rainbow Vacuum E-2 Type 12 2-Speed

My main problem with the Rainbow is how it it sold. You have to let the salesperson into your home and they have that darn referral program. But with all that it can do, you really need a presentation. We bought our Rainbow on the spot and have never regretted that decision. We have 2 big, shedding dogs. I have bought the most privey Hoovers and Bissels but none would get rid of that dog smell or fur. The Rainbow purifies the air (also deodorises) as it vacuums. Powerful suction allows you to clean fans, blinds etc. effortlessly. We also have the carpet and floor cleaner. Although more cumbersome than an upright, it does a better job than others that I have tried - even the commercial Rug Doctors. This machine is not for people looking for ease of use. But if you want deep down cleaning, nothing else compares. Tip: when emptying out the canister, sift it so that only the dirty water goes into the toilet. Dump the rest of the clumped dirt and hair into a trash can. We bought our whole system for $1800 and it is still doing a wonderful job. You can also use the Rainbow to blow inflatable pools up and as a small wetvac.

If you've never used a Rainbow, you're in for a shock. With regular upright bag vacuums, dust particles escape through the pinpoint size holes in the bags. The water canister that sits under the Rainbow actually traps dirt, dust, etc. in the water as you vacuum. You actually see the water getting darker and darker. You can vacuum everyday with a regular bag vacuum cleaner and still not get your carpet as clean as you can with one pass of the Rainbow!

This works and is fairly priced. I would have rather paid more to get a stiffer bracing so that the shoes don't move when polishing. I'd also pay more to get a shoe horn that is easier to put on and fits better in the shoe than the aluminum one.
Overall.. you get what you pay for.

This is my 3rd steam cleaner and by far this is the best. The Steamboy is the easiest to use. Just fill up the removable container with water and go, no waiting as the last 2 mops did. Ladybug 2200S Steamer w/ TANCS, Continuous Fill (60 PSI) Review

Ladybug 2200S Steamer w/ TANCS, Continuous Fill (60 PSI)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When I started doing research on purchasing a dry vapor steamer, I was going to go with a middle of the road version - not cheap at 600 bucks, but not as nice as this one for sure. I finally decided to go with the ladybug after weeks of poring over information and comparing. One of the best decisions - I use this thing for EVERYTHING. Other machines, when the water gets low, you have to turn off the machine and unplug it and let it cool for like 40 minutes before you can refill it and then turn it back on and wait for it to heat up again. I don't have time to do that - I have to squeeze my cleaning time in when my toddler is napping or sleeping.
I can basically fill the tank, plug it in and turn it on and it's ready to go in about 15 minutes - while it's heating up initially, I clear away the clutter in the room. I start in the kitchen and use the triangle brush with the terrycloth towel to clean the counters, cupboards, fridge and sink basin. This literally takes a couple of minutes tops. It took me SO much longer with crap chemicals and paper towels and/or a sponge. This you just glide over the surfaces and it just melts away the grease and junk and gets soaked up into the towel. It also cools very quickly (like almost instantly) when you stop pulling the trigger for the steam, so I can easily pop off the attachment and put on the spray nozzel and blast the nookes and crannies in the sink, around the handles and the dish sprayer. Then I'll usually get carried away and start disinfecting the drains, cabinet handles, the seal around the fridge and freezer that captures crumbs and grows mildew, the seal area around the dishwasher door that gets disgusting, the stove burners, etc etc etc. But again, this all takes a few minutes. You just fly from one thing to the next and the steam is so hot it is almost dry even after being blasted by the spray nozzel. I usually just wipe over with the another terrycloth towel for the heck of it but you don't have to. Then I slap on the rectangle attachment and toss a towel on there (btw, the short DVD it comes with shows you how to diaper the towel onto the attachments (you don't have to, but they are really nice in capturing the crud that this thing imulsifies off of any surface. It takes about 5 seconds total to do it since the clips are super strong and easy to use) and quickly steam the floor. You can seriously clean and disinfect the entire kitchen in a matter of minutes without a single chemical. Even though we had switched to all natural cleaners, they still leave residue and many have strong scents. Another thing I noticed is that with a dry vapor steamer, everything gleams when it's been cleaned (and our kitchen is super old!). I never realized just how matte the surfaces were after using cleaners since they leave a film behind and a steamer does not. It's just water that you are using.
At this point, after using the blast nearly full steam on the sink for a few minutes, I switch the machine off and can instantly open the cap and refill the tank. You don't have to refill it until it beeps that it's running low, but I usually do it after each major room (bathrooms, kitchen) that I clean because why not? You don't have to wait for it to cool like other machines, you can do it on the fly. Then you pick it up and move it to the next room (for me I tackle the bathrooms next) and plug it in and turn it on and it signals it's ready in a couple minutes (about 2-3) Again, I clean up the clutter in those few minutes and then I'm ready to steam away the bathroom germs. Triangle brush on the walls, ceilings (big mildew hotspot, we have the kind you can't really see. You have to wipe it down and then you see the telltale pink residue on the towel), mirrors, counters, showers, sinks then the floors. I do it in this order so I go from cleanest thing to dirtiest thing - the same towel will capture it all. Plus, the steam is so hot it kills germs on contact so you are not spreading any. You can certainly change towels from item to item if you wish, but you do not have to. (Incidentally, I bought a gigantic lifetime supply of terrycloth towels for 15 bucks at my local discount warehouse store. The machine comes with two, but I do like plowing through clean towels when I do a whole house clean so I can just toss them all in the wash when I'm done, and I usually wash them with the bathroom towels so it makes one big wash I'd have to do once a week anyway - no wasted water!) Then I use the nozzle to blast the toilet bowls and sides/bottoms and I am done and my bathrooms are disinfected and shiny.
For bedrooms/living rooms/etc, I use the window attachment to clean all of the windows, the little wedge attachment for the window sills and tracts (you will not believe the disgusting crap that comes out of them) and closet door tracts, and the triangle brush with towel will seriously destroy dust without knocking it up into the air. You can even use it to disinfect your mattress and carpets if you are worried about ever getting (or god forbid if you HAVE) bedbugs - the steam kills EVERYTHING. Dustmites, pests, everything.
This is pretty much my routine and it has cut down the time it took to clean the house immensely. You only need to have one machine out (okay, you have to vacuum at some point and that is another machine) and it's small and easy to pick up from room to room. It doesn't leave any smells behind - it's amazing the difference you notice when you start using it. Your house will smell completely different! Or rather, it WON'T smell ;) I have used this crazy thing to clean the weirdest stuff - things I had never thought about before. This thing is awesome. Easy to bust it out every night and disinfect the kitchen in a matter of minutes, small enough to fit in the hall closet. Plus I don't have to drain the thing - you can keep the water in there for 3 months before having to do a formal draining. This is with the TANCS version - I am not sure if that applies to one that does not have TANCS. Worth getting as it obliterates crap that is in your tap water as you use it so that just pure clean steam is coming out.
All in all this has changed things considerably for me. With regular cleaners it took me forever - I would spend a couple of hours a night just to get a few rooms done at a time and the house smelled like multiple cleaners. Now I am disinfecting my entire house, getting rid of irritants, never buying anymore cleaners or mops or swiffers or scrubbers and it takes a fraction of the time to clean. I'm finally able to sit my butt down and write a review about something because I am not stuck in the bathroom with spray bottles and antibacterial wipes and toilet brushes.
(By the way, this thing obliterates weeds in the patio and garden (nozzle attachment),and grime in the bbq grills, CARSEATS!!!!!! (anyone with a toddler with milk in a sippy cup or a snack squirreled away in the carseat flaps understands this one) and the garage (garbage bins, anyone?). I've even used it on the garbage cans in the house, the light fixtures (after I took them down of course :P), our toothbrushes once a week (a shot of steam with the nozzle from a few inches away) and my makeup brushes. Heck, I've disassembled the vacuum cleaner and steamed the individual non-electric parts (like the spin brushes and chambers and attachments and so forth). I'm sure I'm forgetting things - use this thing to your imagination (while using common judgement. Don't spray it in, oh... the outlets or your ipod obviously ;P) and you will understand why I'm being such a goober in this review and writing a novel. I can't say enough good things about this purchase.
If you made it to the bottom of this review, you are a trooper and I salute you.

My husband and I had high hopes when he ordered this robotic vacuum cleaner for me for Christmas. My husband is confined to a wheelchair much of the time, and I have severe degenerative disk disease and spondelosis, which in laymen's terms means an extremely bad, severely painful, neck and back. This problem keeps me from being able to clean my house the way it needs, which is very hard on a frustrated Neat Freak like me. Also, we have a loving dog who lives in the house with us, and she sheds, AND sheds. To make matters worse, both my hubby and I have miserably debillitating allergies. So a good and easy way to clean the floors is a Must-Have for us.

We thought a cleaner that did all the work for us would be the next-best-thing to the maid service we can't afford. But, sadly, this little vacuum could not handle our floors! We have cement floors, with a few very thin and flat, antique Oriental rugs scattered here and there. The robot vacuum kept getting hung up on the almost microscopic distance between the rugs and the floor. Whether it was trying to go up, ON to a rug from the cement, or go down, OFF of a rug back onto the cement, 9 times out of 10, or more, it would hang, and then stall, and then STOP. Maddening.

Yes, it is loud, but that didn't matter, it probably isn't much louder than most regular vacuum cleaners. Yes, when it wasn't hung up on something, it was very slow moving across the floor, but that was alright too -- I figure that the slower a vacuum goes across the floor, the more thoroughly it is getting it clean. And besides, who cares how long it takes, if I'm not the one having to do the work?

If only this thing could have managed to actually clean the floor more than a few tiny itty bitty INCHES at a time without getting hung up and stopping, we would have been pleased as could be, despite the noise and the slowness. But, sadly, it just couldn't do the job.
MAYBE if our floors had no rugs whatsoever, OR if it were wall to wall rug, then it MIGHT have worked good enough. But I really doubt it, because when it wasn't getting hung up on the canyon between the rugs and the hard floor, it was getting hung up on furniture legs, and walls, and doors.

Somewhere I read a review where the person said she thought this vacuum needed time to "learn" about all the obstacles in a room, before it can do a good job of cleaning it up without stalling. I was hoping that was the problem, so I kept giving it chance after chance, but this Stupid Robotic Vacuum never learned a darn thing! If anything, the more I ran it, the more quickly it would get hung up and shut itself off. We bought it from a store that has a 30-day free trial period, and we used it the full 30 days, trying to figure out a way to make it work for us, but it never did work, so in the end we sent it back.

Tersano lotus LBU100 Sanitizing System Review

Tersano lotus LBU100 Sanitizing System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a physician and a homemaker. I am always looking for safe, effective, easy ways to clean. This product has been the answer for me in the following ways:
1.) Washing fruits and vegetables. Now I am finally following Rachel Ray's advice to wash everything when I bring it home from the grocery store. I pile in as much as the bowl (included with the system) will hold and rinse it briefly under the faucet to remove loose dirt. Then I fill the bowl with cool tap water and place it on the base. As I write this, I am processing 5 avocados, 4 tomatoes, and 2 peaches in the bowl. The cleaning cycle takes about 4 minutes, then you leave the produce in the water for another two minutes. The base unit counts down the time so you know when you're done. Finally, I use the bowl's lid, which has a built-in strainer, to drain the bowl.
There are a number of advantages to this method of washing produce. For me, the most important one is that I know that the produce is truly clean when the final beeper goes off. In the past I was never sure when I could stop rinsing my produce. This method is also a time-saver, since I can wash quite a bit of produce in each batch, and I can do other things while it is processing. Washing the produce when I bring it home from the store also makes it last longer, because the bacteria which cause decay are destroyed. Additionally, when I drain the water from the bowl into my sink, the super-oxygenated water helps to sanitize the sink. Finally, I don't have to wash the bowl, because it is sanitized with each use.
2.) Sanitizing my kids' orthodontic retainers, and the family's various toothbrushes, nail clippers, nail files, etc. I use the bowl for this. I wish I had had this when my kids were babies, because according to the instruction book it can be used to sanitize pacifiers, baby toys, and other baby paraphernalia.
3.) Sanitizing my kids' shower shoes and gear when they get back from camp or a field trip. I use the spray bottle, which is included with the system, for this. First I rinse the gear in my utility sink or with the hose outside. Then I fill the spray bottle with cool tap water. I place the bottle on the base, and start the processing cycle which takes about 2 minutes. Then you have 15 minutes to use the super-oxygenated water, after which it starts to break down into oxygen and water. The base unit counts down the 15 minutes, so you know when your time is up. I spray everything and let it dry in the sun.
There are several advantages to this method of sanitizing gear over my old way of using bleach and other cleaners. First, it is extremely effective. Second, there is no residue left on the gear (again, the super-oxygenated water breaks down into oxygen and water), so there is no rinsing. And third, I do not have to wear gloves.
4.) Cleaning my refrigerator inside and out. I use the spray bottle for this. I especially love the fact that no residue is left in the refrigerator, and there is no odd cleaning-product smell either.
5.) Kitchen countertops, sink, and cabinets. I have an under-mounted sink, and the thought of all the bacteria growing in the space between the countertop and the sink used to really bother me. In the past, I would fill my sink with hot water and bleach, but now I use the spray bottle. It is quick and easy, requires no rinsing, and there is no bleach smell or concern about getting bleach on my clothes. Plus there is a strong environmental benefit to avoiding bleach and the plastic bottles that bleach comes in.
6.) Bathrooms. In the past I used cleaning products that smelled terrible and that warn you to only use them in a well-ventilated area. It made bathroom-cleaning a dreaded chore. Now I use the spray bottle, and the job is quick and easy. I live in Florida, where mold and mildew are a big problem in the bathroom. We have had a particular problem with mildew growing in the toilet tanks (up where the flush mechanism is). This has been difficult to keep under control in the past, because bleach damages the rubber portions of the flush mechanism. The super-oxygenated water has not caused any damage, but has been extremely effective against the mildew.
I like the fact that no residue is left behind on surfaces, and the bathroom is truly sanitized. I will also note that although I have arthritis in my hands, the spray bottle is easy to use.
Other reviewers have mentioned getting an error code when trying to use the Lotus system. I have also had error codes in two situations, but I figured out how to deal with them.
The first error code I have encountered occurs when there is no water in the base. During processing, water circulates between the base and the attachment you have chosen (either the bowl or the spray bottle). Between uses, clean water remains in the base unit. However, when you are first starting out, or if you have emptied the base unit, it takes time to get water into the base unit. This is when I have had an F4 error code. I remove the attachment, fill the blue reservoir on the base with water, and then put the empty bowl on the base unit. Using a large measuring cup, I pour cool tap water directly over the valve system in the bottom of the bowl to get water to go through the valve into the base. Then I turn on the processing cycle and see if it will go. If not, I repeat these steps until it does. Normally you do not have to worry about this, because clean water will be left in the base between uses.
The second situation where I have encountered an error code is when washing fruits that shed tiny seeds or hairs, such as raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, and kiwi. I belive that there must be a sensor in the base that reads the water as dirty, and halts the processing. Even when I pre-rinsed these fruits, I still got an error code because you can't get rid of all the tiny seeds and hairs. I dealt with this situation by emptying the "dirty" water out of the base. Next, I get clean water into the base as described in the previous paragraph. Then I put clean water in the bowl and process it in the usual way. At the end of the processing cycle, I remove the bowl from the base and add the fruit to it. I let the fruit sit in there for two minutes before draining. This way, no seeds or hairs circulate through the base to create problems. This is actually the method that the instruction book suggests for meat, poultry, and seafood.
I highly recommend this product, and plan to give it to family members as Christmas gifts. Please note that I am not associated in any way with the company that makes this product.

Live Chemical Free with the lotus Sanitizing System
Take a step towards healthier living! This amazing Sanitizing System from Tersano lets you turn on your faucet and treat your home to an effective sanitizer that safely wipes out germs, odors, stains, mold, mildew and pesticides -- all without chemicals.
When you use lotus, you turn ordinary tap water into the world's most powerful sanitizer in about two minutes, for a fraction of a penny. Studies have shown that ozone is 50-percent more powerful and more than 3,000 times faster acting on bacteria than chlorine -- at 100 times the strength. Water treated with this system will kill 99.9 percent of germs on any surface it contacts.
Use the lotus to clean countertops, appliances, floors, high chairs and other baby items, upholstery, windows, cutting boards, and any surface that attracts mold or mildew. Even carpet and laundry stains -- including red wine and pet stains -- are easy to remove, with no harsh fumes or residue. Lotus also eliminates germs and pesticides from your food. It even extends the shelf life of fruit and produce up to four times longer than if they've been rinsed with tap water.
How It Works
The system has two main purposes: (1). to disinfect surfaces and (2). to remove pesticides and kill germs on food. It does this using ordinary tap water.
The lotus patented Oxyshield technology infuses cold tap water with an extra oxygen atom, creating a natural sanitizer. By passing air through 4,500 volts of electricity, the lotus system splits oxygen molecules into atoms and forces this extra atom to combine and form super-oxygen, or ozone. The third oxygen atom becomes the sanitizing agent, a natural oxidant -- which kills bacteria and viruses, and neutralizes pesticides.
Using the lotus spray bottle, it takes about two to three minutes to turn tap water into antibacterial lotus water with 100-percent potential (this is indicated on the unit); and then it remains fully effective for about 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, the contents begin to revert to plain water. A countdown timer on the unit tells you when it's time to reload and recharge.
Once the tap water reaches its fully transformed potential (in about five minutes, if you’re using the bowl), maximum bacteria and pesticide reduction is achieved after two minutes of soaking. That same helpful countdown timer tells you when your food is completely sanitized and cleansed of pesticide residues.
The lotus Sanitizing System was recognized as one of the Best Inventions of 2006 by Time Magazine. It was also recognized by Donny Deutsch as The Big Idea of the Month.
Key Technical Specs: FDA and USDA approved for food sanitation UL and CSA tested and approved EPA registered for produce and household surfaces Non-abrasive; safe for use on non-porous surfaces Kills 99.9-percent of: E. Coli Salmonella Staphylococcus aureus (Listeria) K. Pneumonia
What's in the Box Sanitizing system includes the base unit, multi-purpose bowl with lid, trigger spray bottle, two microfiber cloths and one booster cartridge.

Reliable T630 Enviromate Steam Cleaner with 11-Piece Accessory Kit Review

Reliable T630 Enviromate Steam Cleaner with 11-Piece Accessory Kit

I have had my eye on the Ladybug steamer for months now, drooling over all it could do but it was far out of my price range. I own the Envirosteamer steam floor mop and love it, but I wanted something to get into tight spaces like around the toilet, in the tub, the oven, etc. With some Santa money I got more serious about purchasing a canister steamer in addition to my floor steamer and began some comparative testing and studying. Fortunately, I live in a neighborhood that is all "green built certified" which means, in order to have a green rating, all homes were built with no carpet and lots of people hate chemicals which means it's a neighborhood full of steam mops which makes comparing the models quite easy. That's a good thing because it just saved me over a thousand bucks because I wound up no longer wanting the Ladybug. Here's how they rate...you decide which is best for you:
These are the canister mops I compared:
Vapamore MR-100
Ladybug XL-2300
Haan Canister
Reliable Enviromate
V=Vapamore
L=Ladybug
H=Haan
R=Reliable
NUMBER OF STEAM JETS SPITTING OUT HOT STEAM:
V-10
L-8
H-12
R-5
WATER PRESSURE CONTEST; (1st place being shoots steam the hardest)
V- 2nd PLACE
L-1ST PLACE:
H- 3rd PLACE:
R- 4th PLACE:
CORD LENGTH: (so you don't have to stop, unplug, water cools some, replug in)
V-18 feet
L-15 ft
H-18 feet
R-8 feet
recap: An 8' cord is INSANE. I couldn't even get across my kitchen counter or walk around my bed to steam all of the mattress without using an extension cord!
STEAM TEMPERATURE
V-256 degrees
L-297 degrees
H-212 degrees
R-218 degrees
Note: These temperatures are based upon using the small hose attachments. In every case that we used the long hose attachment included to turn these into a floor mop, the steam had to travel down the long hose so it cooled and wound up only being about 115 degrees by the time it reached the floor. Which results in very poor cleaning. Because of this, if you are wanting this mostly for floor steaming, I would suggest going with a steamer that shoots out hot steam directly onto the floor from its tank rather than through a long hose before reaching the floor as a canister mop does.
TIME TO HEAT UP:
V-10 min
L-8 min
H-3 min
R-5 min
WATER TANK:
V-1.6 liters
L-1.8+1.5 quarts
H-20 oz
R 2 liters
CLEANING:
For a controlled cleaning test, I mixed Dr. Pepper with sugar and spread it evenly across a 4' length of my stained concrete floor and kept the pets away until it dried completely in a gunky mess. I then tested each mop against it in lengthwise strips, moving them at the same pace after a full heat up, as well as testing each on its own strip of bathroom tile & grout. Here's who performed the best:
Tie: Ladybug and Vapamore. These, due to the really hot temps, loosened the gunk on impact and made it VERY easy to clean my floor. Their hot temps and heavier steam also cleaned tile the best but Vapamore actually did a BETTER job on uneven surfaces like tile with grout..but don't expect shiny white grout because it wasn't exactly returned to looking brand new either.
2nd place:Haan...but it wasn't nearly as good as the above two.
Last place: Reliable. Although the steam temp is hotter than the Haan, it doesn't shoot out as strong and only had 5 steam jets so this diminished its effectiveness Didn't come close to the V or L.
All were at temps to kill bacteria and sanitize without using chemicals such as counters and mattresses, unless you tried to turn it into a floor mop which I don't suggest because the steam was too cool to clean as well as a real floor steam mop made for that purpose.. Other notes: The ladybug was the most awkward to carry. It just wasn't made for carrying up stairs, etc. Conclusion: Considering the Ladybug is over a thousand dollars more than any of the other mops, this was a real eye opener! I tested these with my friends and we all agreed, hands down, that the Vapamore was the best buy. And I love it! It cleaned the best BUT the Ladybug lasted much longer as far as cleaning time. However, Vapamore cleaned for 50 minutes prior to needing a refill which, for me, is all I need. That said, if you want to use this commercially and don't want to have to take time to refill, the Ladybug may be worth the steep price for you. Considering they have the same 3 year warranty though, I'd rather buy 4 Vapamores for the price of one Ladybug and have one in every room. I kid. The Reliable seemed to lack things that were just silly...like having a cord longer than my blow dryer and only having 5 steam jets.

SteamFast SF-246 Portable Canister Steam Cleaner Review

SteamFast SF-246 Portable Canister Steam Cleaner
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had such great expectations for this unit after reading the description. And it would be great if the unit I received lived up to the claims made for this product. But it was not to be.
First of all- It states that once the unit heats up "a steam-on-demand trigger with a continuous-steam locking switch.."- therein lies the problem with at least what I received.
First-it's far from a "continuous-stream of steam that is produced- it sputters, and then may have a burst of steam, then sputters again. I tested the temp of the steam during several bursts of steam- it varies- anywhere from 90 degrees to 140 degrees. Anything over 110 degrees-if remains constant while steaming- is good for killing most germs. Being that this was inconsistent- hard to believe the product description-
"Using pure and natural penetrating steam, the unit removes stubborn stains, dirt, and grime from sinks and tubs; sanitizes floors; reduces smoke and other odors from drapes and upholsteries; reduces allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more harsh cleaners or protective rubber gloves needed." HA! Not the unit I received.
The other problem noted quick fast-is that "on-demand" trigger- it sticks- making it very tricky to shut off, considering if your one hand is being used to wipe or scrub down the area you are cleaning, you have to drop that and fumble around with this trigger to get it finally to go off. Poor design.
Of the few areas that I attempted to clean-and none that really impressed me- and this is just a guess is that the problem lies with an inconsistent temp for the steam- as you really have to do a lot of scrubbing on your own to lift even the easiest of grime areas from the tub
.
This is not a unit that I would say would make me throw out my current, unfortunately, chemical cleaners, of which I would be so happy to do -some day.
Needless to say- this product is in the process of being returned.

Equipped with a powerful 1500-watt heating system, this environmentally friendly steam cleaner heats up in about six or seven minutes and offers a chemical-free way to clean throughout the house. Using pure and natural penetrating steam, the unit removes stubborn stains, dirt, and grime from sinks and tubs; sanitizes floors; reduces smoke and other odors from drapes and upholsteries; reduces allergens such as dust mites and pet dander; and saves money on cleaning supplies--no more harsh cleaners or protective rubber gloves needed. The unit works with regular tap water, and its 33-ounce water tank provides approximately 30 minutes of continuous steam. Other highlights include a "heating" indicator light, a steam-on-demand trigger with a continuous-steam locking switch, a flexible 1-2/5-foot steam hose, and a 12-4/5-foot power cord. Best of all, the steam cleaner offers the convenience and portability of a handheld unit with the power and versatility of a full-size machine--its comfortable shoulder strap and lightweight design make it possible to transport the unit from room to room with graceful ease. Accessories include a 16-ounce measuring cup, two extension wands, a jet nozzle, a nozzle tip, a nylon brush for general cleaning, a brass brush for tough areas like barbecue grills, a removable utility head, and a cloth cover to clean and sanitize hard floors. I'm not sure what's in this stuff. I don't know if it's "green." What I do know is that it works. It cleans really gross stuff that other cleaners don't make a dent in.
Impossible things it has removed:
vast quantities of dog blood after a rather nasty incident
the greasy gunk that builds up behind the oven
cat pee
scum on the range hood
remains of a dead thing
stuff that builds up in the corners of the kitchen floor that normal mopping don't reach
There's more, but I've probably grossed you out. Sorry 'bout that.
Life is messy. This stuff cleans it up.

Vapor Clean TR Pro5 Dry Vapor Steamer (65 PSI) Review

Vapor Clean TR Pro5 Dry Vapor Steamer (65 PSI)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It is really difficult to find reviews of vapor cleaners not sponsored by specific manufacturers. For some reason Consumer Reports has never researched them. This Vapor Clean TR5 was recommended to me by a friend who did 2 years of research before buying. She liked the Ladybug but could not afford it. She has used hers for more than a year with no problems. From other customer reviews it seems that the cheaper plastic vapor cleaners tend to break or have flimsy attachments.
I used this right out of the box to deep clean a tile floor which had only been damp mopped for 6 years. It took 3 hours and many towels but the floor looks brand new. I got the burned on spots off my 20 yr old oven. The very best thing it has done so far is streakfree window cleaning. It runs for 60 mins on one tank of water. It beeps and shuts off when empty. The only drawback I have found so far is that it leaves more wetness on the cleaned surface than I expected.
Pros:
1)Stainless steel
2)Includes lots of sturdy attachments which are easy to connect(2 mop heads,a triangular brush, six circular brushes, a stainless steel scubber,a wand,a squeegee,2 extention tubes)
3)Easy off/on switch
4)Nice long eletric cord
5)Light weight/quiet
6)Deep cleans without chemicals
7)Heats up in less than 10 mins.
8)1700 watts of power
9)Made in Italy

Cons:
1)Expensive
2)Leaves a wetter surface than I was expecting.
3)Has to cool before refilling tank.
4)The instruction booklet is minimal and written in some English/Italian hybrid
So far this machine feels sturdy and is doing a great job of cleaning. If this machine lasts it will be well worth the price.

Average Reviews:

Pros:
-When you use a conventional vacuum cleaner, you see dust blown all over especially if you look with the sun rays streaming through your window. You see a much big difference using this vac. One of our sons have bad allergies and this helps a lot.
-You not only see the difference, you also feel that you are breathing much cleaner air.
-No expensive bags to buy
Cons:
-It is heavy as a bulldozer. Imagine hauling it up and down the stairs. This is the reason we use this vac not as often as our other regular vac. My wife has to call me to help tugging it along.
-Price - too much! We got it half price, but probably we still paid too much.
-Maneuverability. Annoying and it really needs some muscle to work with it.
-You also need to clean the vacuum every single time you use it. No, you cannot wait until the bag is full - there is no bag. It has a canister that you fill halfway with water and if you do not clean after each use, it grows bacteria and smells like a dead skunk. Believe me, we have done that.
-It is a hassle to use. Need assembly every time you use it.
-So loud
