220 Volt Braun MP80 Juice Exractor- WILL NOT WORK IN THE USA Review

220 Volt Braun MP80 Juice Exractor- WILL NOT WORK IN THE USA
Average Reviews:

I am a juicing fanatic! So naturally I wanted to try all of the juicers and comparison shop before I bought my own. I must say, the Braun Juice Extractor takes the cake! Here's why:
1. This Juicer is easy to assemble: the Juiceman Jr always was difficult to connect all of the parts together.
2. This Juicer is easy to DISassemble: Trying to take the rotating mesh blade off of the Juiceman Jr is a pain (and can be painfull!)
3. The design is VERY spacesaving and ergonomically correct: The Juiceman Jr has a large, unnatached bin and normal glass that doesn't fit or store well with the juicer unit. The Braun Juice Extractor however, fits together in all one base unit, and even the pouring bin that recieves the juice snuggly fits against the juicer unit.
4. The REALLY cool foam strainer: This is the best part! If you've ever juiced, you know what a pain the foam at the top is! You can't get rid of the foam without actually straining it or scooping it away; you can kiss that foam goodbye with the strainer!
5. The detachable tray at the top allows you to hold your fruit and veggies without messing up other bowls and cutting boards.
6. It's just better that all the rest! Try it, and I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do!

Proctor Silex Juicit Juicer Review

Proctor Silex Juicit Juicer

This is more or less what I wanted. Cheap, works well, easy to clean up.
My negative is the plastic container that holds my morning orange juice and my afternoon lime juicy. The plastic bowl is truly inexpensive. It scarred immediately and never looks new after the first use. Perhaps it was the accidity from the first orange juice. I have no idea. But the plastic is no longer smooth to the touch, and it looks dirty after I wash it. I do not have a dishwasher, so it gets a hand wash and rinse. Machine works well though, and I would buy another one if it lasts one year.

I don't think you can find a better, easier to use citrus juicer at any price. It's gone up a couple of bucks since I bought mine, but it is still the best deal available without question.
It's fast, stable on the counter, converts to a serving pitcher when you're done juicing, and it's absolutely a cinch to clean up. I can't think of anything Proctor Silex could do to improve this product.
If you're in the market for a citrus juicer (and fresh-squeezed is so far superior to anything you can buy in the grocery store) you can't do better than this one. Buy it.

So far it's been great! It's much faster and cleaner than the electric citrus juicers. It also seems to get a lot more juice out than the traditional juicers. Unlike the more powerful rotating juicers it does no get any bitter rind into the juice.
Based on the reviews I read before purchasing it, I've been careful not to apply too much force too quickly, and so far it has not broken. So far, it's thumbs up!

Orange-X Professional Juicer Review

Orange-X Professional Juicer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have owned a large Orange-X juicer for two winters, and I recently bought a mid-size juicer as a gift. I am the author of the "Best juicer, April 8, 2001" review for the large Orange-X. My Orange-X has withstood the test of time as a daily habit during orange season. Think how many kitchen appliances gather dust next to the rowing machine; daily use is the ultimate testimonial. The habit I've settled on is to rotate a bowl of several varieties of citrus into the fridge for the next glass, and squeeze one glass at a time. Cleanup is easy enough, and "just-squeezed" (as opposed to yesterday's juice in a bottle) tastes good enough, that this habit sticks.
Setting the two units next to each other, I can make some comparisons.
First, every unit has a unique personality, and some units can only fairly be classified as defective. I looked at four mid-sized units before accepting one, rejecting two as defective, and the one I accepted has definite quirks. (Hey, so do I!) This is a brilliant design, but we're not talking BMW quality control at the factory. For now, this is hands down the best lever juicer on the market, but the principle of applying leverage during a stroke can't be patentable, someone will get around the Orange-X patents with better manufacturing quality, and Orange-X will be history.
What to look for, examining a unit for defects? The base should sit squarely on the counter, not warped so only three feet touch as a time. The various assembly parts should line up vertically on the pole, so the squeezing action is "on center". The lever arm should reach a bit past vertical, so it won't come down by surprise onto your fingers. Watch the lever action very carefully. It should impress you with its beauty, not look "all twisty", and maximum leverage should occur near the very end of the stroke; too soon is a quirk.
It is obvious, mail-ordering from Amazon, that you will be studying your unit more carefully than anyone before you. You have to admire Amazon for not deleting this post. In my extensive experience with Amazon, they are dedicated to keeping satisfied customers.
Now, the differences between the sizes: Price. Weight, 16 lbs -vs- 19 lbs. Height in rest position, 16" -vs- 18 1/2". Height of handle at top of stroke, 28 3/4" -vs- 31 1/2". Maximum glass height, 4 13/16" -vs- 6 1/8". Same stroke length, 3 7/8". Same strainer basket.
In other words, the two sizes should be virtually identical in function, with the mid-size a bit less unwieldly, and an easier reach if you don't play basketball. A "jam jar" tumbler will only fit directly under the large, but most pint measuring cups fit fine under the mid-size, as do many glasses.
On the other hand, if you can put up with the price, height, and weight of the large, and you're tall enough, it may be the way to go. In some intangible way the design feels more fully expressed in the large, but the mid-size works just fine.
I found my large handles grapefruit easily, but needs a rubber shim for thin-skinned citrus. Not mashing bitter oils from the peel is an intentional design feature of the Orange-X, but the spacing is fixed, and can only be adjusted by shimming with rubber Mason jar gaskets under the strainer basket, which I sometimes do. The particular mid-size I tested requires more effort to squeeze a grapefruit, but handles thin-skinned oranges better. I believe this to be the individual personalities of the units, not a generalization that applies to mid-size -vs- large, but, heh, who knows?

5/26/2009:
I just bought this juicer. I was worried about a few things:
1. I saw a Good Eats episode on oranges the very next day after I'd purchased this. Alton Brown held up this exact juicer, said it was junk, threw it away, and recommend using a more sophisticated press.
2. I read the reviews here that said there was lots of orange and juice left behind, because the orange folds up around the edges trapping fruit and juice.
3. Some people said the lemon and lime presses (I have a really cool one with a swiveling plate that lets you choose smaller for limes or larger for lemons) worked great, but the orange one didn't. That made me even more worried since my lemon/lime juicer works great and that's why I went for the orange one.
4. Finally: some people said the broke in a few months.
Here's my review:
I juiced my 1st orange. It worked great.
A. I searched online to see just how much juice an orange should produce. From what I saw, you get 2-3 oz per medium sized orange. My medium sized orange produced exactly 3 oz. So that seems pretty darned good.
B. It didn't take a lot of force to make it work, however once the orange is almost done, some squirted back up again. I am confident that was user error, but we'll see after I go buy some more oranges and experiment. I will update my review with any new facts. Some juice was above the peel. If I just opened up the squeezer and turned it over, that poured into the glass instead of flying up into my eye.
C. About the fold up, fruit left behind comments. Yup. It folded up. Yup, there was fruit in the fold. I unfolded that lip and ate what was left. It was juicy and delicious! If you are gonna chill the oj for later, this gives you a tasty treat for you light effort. But since a normal orange gives 2-3 oz of juice, and I got 3oz of juice, I just don't see this as a problem. Great yield, plus a treat for the squeezer (me).
D. Mine has only juiced on tasty orange so far. If it breaks, I will update my review. Until then... my recommendation is buy! If you want a bigger press like Alton recommends go for it, but honestly, if I squeeze 4 oranges, I'll get a nice big 12oz glass of delicious oj, and some orange bit snacks to boot. :)
E. The handles are a lot shorter than I imagined. I picked this one cause it was eligible for amazon prime. Otherwise, I'd pick the one with the longest handles for extra leverage. But again, I had zero trouble with this one, so it may not be super vital to have the longer handles.

Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black Review

Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I own a medium sized Ra Chand juicer, the popular model J210. Although the fit and finish of the Ra Chand juicer is somewhat crude, it makes up for it in brute strength and straightforward design. It works excellent for limes, lemons, and small to medium sized oranges and it will last a lifetime, even with daily use. The problem with the J210 is that it does not juice large oranges and grapefruits very well. I needed a larger juicer because I have a grapefruit tree and an orange tree that produce larger than average fruit. I decided against the Ra Chand J500 because they were more expensive than the OrangeX juicer, and the reviews of the OrangeX juicer were for the most part favorable--most of the complaints were for paint chips (doesn't appear to be a problem here) and slow delivery (also not a problem). I was disappointed when my OrangeX large commercial juicer arrived because the top cone and lower "bowl" assembly of the juicer, where the fruit fits, is no larger than the Ra Chand medium sized J210 juicer. In fact, it appears to be smaller than the Ra Chand medium sized juicer. Also, they are thin stamped stainless steel where on the Ra Chand juicer they are polished cast aluminum. That being said, the OrangeX juicer is heavy duty and fairly well built. I have no doubt it will work fine for limes, lemons, and small to medium oranges, and that it too will last a lifetime. However, now I have two juicers that will do the same thing and I still have no juicer for larger grapefruits, unless I settle for squeezing some of the grapefruit and having the edge squirt all over the edge. In retrospect, I wish I had looked at the Ra Chand J500 and, given that it is truly larger than the J210, spent the extra $50 to get something that would not only work for larger fruit, but medium and smaller fruit as well.

Samson "Advanced" Multi-Purpose Wheatgrass Juicer - IVORY Review

Samson Advanced Multi-Purpose Wheatgrass Juicer - IVORY

I have been the proud owner of this juicer for the past two months and so far I can say it has been a joy to use this machine to make fresh fruit and vegetable juices, as well as, frozen fruit sorbets, nut butters and cold pressed oils (oil extractor unit is not included). There is no one size fits all juicer, but this juicer fits the bill for me, in that, I primarily use it for leafy greens and citrus fruits. I tend to get a higher yield when juicing cucumbers in my centrifugal juicer, however, since juice quality is of more importance to me than juice yield, I do not see that as a draw back. With a little improvisation and plenty patience, I am also able to make fresh cane juice in this wonder machine. If you really want to take your health to the next level I highly recommend juicing, and after doing considerable research I have found that this juicer is one of the best and most versatile on the market.

I allowed myself to be seduced by this juicer's unique good looks and vendor propaganda regarding its sturdy cast-iron construction.
Well, I juiced exactly _3_ 3-inch diameter oranges. On the 4th orange, a critical cast-iron piece on one of the 2 right-hand hinges broke.
Other review comments concerning difficulty of cleanup are accurate. I would add that the metal strainer has edges that seemed quite sharp, making cleanup potentially dangerous.
I would not recommend this juicer under any circumstances.

I have had this juicer for a year now, and have not experienced any of the problems noted in the other reviews. We may use it 4 times a week for several weeks, or only on weekends for a month. It looks good, is sturdy, and is easy to clean. Place the orange or whatever in the holder, slowly press down on the paddle style handle, and its juice galore. For larger fruits or bigger oranges, lift the handle up, reposition the fruit carcass a little, one more squeeze and Bobs-your-uncle. We like the machine just fine.

I am a huge juicer. Every morning my wife and I juice. We noticed that our juiceman jr was not efficiently juicing our green vegies. It was wasting 90% of them. The green veggies (expensive I might add) went right into the plastic bin hardly touched. I went to Jamba Juice and they explained how an auger presses the green juices - and, that's what Jamba uses for their wheat grass....well, the rest is history. I did my homework and found out that augers are more efficient just like Jamba explained. And, kitchens best walked me through the entire thing. Plus, they offered a 90 day money back warranty. They are incredibly nice and I can't believe they offer that kind of awesome money back gaurantee. Anyway, they are RIGHT about the juicer - it absolutely presses out 95% more green juice than the Jack Lalane and Juice man Jr. styles..and it does a better job on apples, ginger, and everything else too. The ONLY down side is - it's a slower process. But, in life - you can't have everything. I would much rather take a minute or two more each day and get my monies worth out of the fruits and veggies I buy than to speed through it and waste my food. Also, I seriously think it tastes better too!! Reason being, the other style spins it so fast - I swear it tasted "burned" sometimes. The Samson seems sweeter and more mellow. Anyway, trust me - you won't go wrong with this juicer or this company. Lovely company. Fair price too. Nobody offers a 90 day warranty...not even KMART OR WALLMART!! Nuff said. Buy it - you will thank me later.

Hamilton Beach 932 Commercial Citrus Juicer, Black Review

Hamilton Beach 932 Commercial Citrus Juicer, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this juicer after trying an orangex juicer that broke on the 4th orange I put through it. My Hamilton-Beach juicer has lasted through a whole bag now, so here's the scoop:
Good things:
1) Rack & pinion action effectively transfers the applied force to the squeezer. There's no off-axis force so you don't have to worry about the whole darn thing tipping over when you bear down.
2) Gratifyingly simple to disassemble and clean.
3) The metal grate's edges are machined smooth - - no worries about getting cut (one of the problems I had with the orangex product).
4) When you remove your juice glass, a drip cup swings into place to keep residual juice drippings off your countertop. That is a very user-friendly design element.
5) The mechanism does a good job of extracting all of the juice.
6) The resulting juice did not have any hint of strong citrus oil.
Other things:
For a product that bills itself as "professional grade", it seems like it could be easy to overpower & break something if you 'hang on the lever'. I would not be too overzealous about squeezing the last drops if dealing with a grapefruit or a really big orange, for fear of breaking something. But for lemons, limes, and standard size oranges it seems just fine.
While the unit doesn't weigh very much, it's pretty tall -- about 20" in its fully-down, storage position -- so storage may be an issue for some.
Overall:
I'm glad I got this one.

Jupiter Large Commercial Juice Press, Black Review

Jupiter Large Commercial Juice Press, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This mid-sized Orange-X juicer is a well designed heavy duty juicer that should last a lifetime. It is easy to use and clean and it is powerful enough to be used both commercially and at home.
Some may quibble over whether one juicer is better for oranges or lemons. From reading reviews, one that may be a little better for lemons, or grapefruit probably doesn't do as well with oranges etc due to only one strainer cup size being available. This very heavy duty juicer did a great job for me with lemons, oranges, and small grapefruit. It seems to be optimized for oranges though. However, I use it primarily for lemons and have had no problems except a very tiny bit of the lemon left on the side. I feel the claims about it not working well with lemons are grossly exaggerated and inaccurate.
This juicer has a stainless steel juicing strainer and cup, so the health conscious have no need to worry about aluminum being leached into the acidic juice.
Contrary to what one reviewer said, you cannot hurt your fingers using this juicer as long as you put your hand on the rubber handle (it is hard to use otherwise). The handle has a nice well calibrated stoper at the bottom that keeps you from damaging the unit by over extending when pushing down and still squeezes all the juice out well. The lower push range offers superior leverage over the juicers that have a spring and leave the handle up as you start and end from a higher position with them. (However, either way, it is not going to be hard to juice with this or other heavy duty juicers such as the Hamilton Beach regardless of handle position).
The only thing I don't like about this juicer is that if you leave the handle up and try to move it, the heavy handle will fall easily and it could hit you on the head or face if you are bending over or short. It is particularly easy to have the handle fall since the suction cup feet make it a little difficult to move around and you have to pull and yank on it a bit to get it to move. I bought some standard 4mm screw on bolts and some nice non-marking rubber feet called bumpers (screw, rubber) at Ace hardware for a few dollars that fit perfect into the holes for the screw off suction cups that came with the juicer. My guess is the suction feet were meant primarily to help in a commercial environment where you always kept the juicer in the exact same position and didn't pull the juicer out then push it back on the counter when done like you might do at home. The juicer is so heavy, that even with these new non-suction non-marking rubber feet it doesn't move at all during routine juicing.
Overall, this is a very heavy duty well made and designed juicer and I recommend it for home or commercial use (it is still quit large though called mid-sized). If it were not for the annoying rubber suction cup feet that it came with (and I easily replaced) I would have given it a five star rating. See my full review and explanations under this same mid-sized Orange-X juicer that Amazon itself sends out.

This industrial-strength citrus juicer gets the most out of oranges, down to the last drop of sweet juice--pressed juice is naturally sweeter than juice obtained from electric juicers because it avoids the bitter taste of the skin oil. Put a glass under the juicer, place half an orange or grapefruit on the raised stainless-steel cone, and press the handle down. The wide, deep funnel top closes over the fruit, pressing every bit of pulp onto the cone to get every last drop of juice. It doesn't take a lot of strength to press down this handle, unlike the case with some other juicers, and the pulp left in the skin is completely flattened, a testament to this juicer's strength and thoroughness. To clean the cone and funnel parts, lift them out and rinse under the faucet. --Doree Armstrong

Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press Review

Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We just received our Breville 800CPXL Citrus Press after the holidays and have used it several times since. Compared to the low-end (and much less expensive) plastic Krupps version we replaced (which kept tripping our GFCI), I rate this product 4.5 stars out of 5. It falls just short of perfection, but is nonetheless the most elegant and functional citrus juicer I've been able to find at this price point.
LIKES:
1) Beautiful die-cast design feels substantial and stays put when pressing citrus. Kudos to the industrial design team for turning a juicer into a work of art. This is by far the best looking electric citrus press on the market.
2) Brushed stainless exterior goes with any decor and looks great on countertop. No reason to store it away.
3) Removable strainer and juice basin are easy to handwash (I recommend using a small brush or toothbrush to help clean out the pulp).
4) Can press an 8-oz glass of orange juice in less than a minute and works with lemons, mandarins, oranges, and grapefruits without changing elements.
AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT:
This juicer works well and beats others I've tried. However, there are a few areas that Breville engineers could improve in their next model. None of these recommendations should cause you to avoid purchasing this unit, but I list them here nonetheless since there's always room to improve most products:

1) Doesn't handle large grapefruit as well as I'd like. Still left some juice/pulp in the skin, which I squeezed out by hand. Breville could consider offering a larger snap-on attachment more suitably sized for pressing grapefruit.
2) Sometimes the skin of the orange remains stuck inside the top of the press, requiring manual extraction. Maybe I'm pressing too hard, but this still seems to happen from time to time. On a few occasions, I stalled the motor completely which surprised me. However, stalling the motor didn't cause the GFCI to keep tripping like the Krupps model we replaced.
3) The electrical cord is nicely designed, but a little too short. I'd prefer to see a 6' cord to reach to the nearest outlet while allowing flexibility in where to place the juicer on the countertop.
4) If you leave the juicer out on the countertop where there's a cabinet above, the handle (press) bangs against the top of the cabinet and requires a little finesse to pull it towards the edge of the countertop when you're ready to use it. The typical height between the countertop and bottom of a cabinet is 18" +/- 1" and often the face frame of the cabinet protrudes about 1/2" or so below the bottom of the cabinet underside. If Breville offered a locking position with the handle down, this wouldn't be a problem and it would be easier to slide out the juicer into position from the back of the counter.
5) The handle itself seems a little flimsy when compared to the rest of the die-cast machine. While it's functional and certainly strong enough, I would prefer a solid convex die-cast handle arm (oval cross section) versus the inverted "U" type cross section of the current design. Although the current arm does appear to be die cast, during the extraction process, juice and pulp tend to splatter on the concave underside of the handle. This makes cleaning the handle a little harder than it should if the handle cross section were convex on top and bottom.
Overall, this is an excellent product with bold design and good looks. I recommend this model to anyone who wants to add freshly squeezed citrus to your daily or weekly regimen. I can't comment on the long-term reliability of the motor since we've only had the unit for a few weeks. But so far so good.

Housed in professional-grade brushed stainless steel with an industrial strength, whisper-quiet motor, this powerful citrus press delivers fresh-squeezed juice quickly and easily. Simply press down on the soft-grip handle to activate the unit. Its revolutionary active-arm system features built-in sensors to monitor the arm position and safely activate the spinning cone as it comes in contact with the fruit. The unit's spherical fruit dome centers the fruit perfectly on the spinning cone, while two stainless-steel filters allow for variable pulp control depending on individual preferences.
In addition, its die-cast stainless-steel juicing cone provides four strategically positioned multi-tiered fins. This unique Quadra-Fin technology effortlessly and efficiently juices any citrus fruit, from the smallest lime to the largest grapefruit, without the need to change cones. For added convenience, the unit's stainless-steel drip-stop juice spout can be flipped upward after juicing to stop the flow of juice and prevent any unwanted dripping or mess. The citrus press also includes a safety switching system, dust cover, cord storage, and easily removable dishwasher-safe parts for quick cleanup. The citrus press measures 7 by 16-1/2 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Cuisinart CCJ-100 Citrus Pro Juicer Review

You'd think it would be hard to mess up when designing an item that just juices halved citrus fruit, but they did. And how! There are three annoying features about this machine that interact to provide a supremely annoying user experience.
The first annoying feature about this juicer is that the pour spout juts out a mere 1/4 inch from the side of the machine. Since the machine is rounded and somewhat urn-shaped (fatter on top than on the bottom), you have very little space to get a glass or measuring cup near the body of the machine in order to catch the juice. Keep in mind that some measuring glasses can be rather thick, and you can easily see that this might be a bit of a problem.
Now for the other two problems. I should note that this machine has a decent amount of torque, and can indeed ream out a citrus fruit rather efficiently, leaving nothing but rind. The problem is the three little rubber feet on the bottom cannot stand up to the machine's torque. Push a fruit down on the top and the entire machine jerks to the side, whereupon the spout flinches away from its tiny area of proper juice-dispensing, and juice meets counter. You have to exert a considerable amount of force when pushing down the fruit just to get the thing to stay put. I had to use both hands to do this (one holding the lemon down, one pushing against the side of the machine, leaving none for the measuring cup). It's not an insignificant amount of force; you really have to brace your arms on the thing to keep it still.
Thus comes the third problem, which is the auto-reverse mechanism. About the second or third time you push down on the fruit and activate the machine, it goes the other way (clockwise instead of counterclockwise) in order to get more pulp and juice out of the fruit. However, I haven't figured out how to tell which direction it's going to go next (it's not a simple first time this way, next time that way), so when it decides to change, the machine jerks in the opposite direction of where you were expecting it to go. This operates in opposition to the force you are exerting on the side of the machine trying to keep it from moving. Again, hilarity ensues.
So, all in all, I am NOT impressed with this juicer. Unfortunately, it was the only one at the store. Perhaps another company will see the opportunity here and dare to make a juicer that does not have such an impressively compounded collection of design flaws.

Black & Decker CJ625 30-Watt 34-Ounce Citrus Juicer Review

I have grown up with citrus trees in the yard and still have a couple in my own yard. I needed a citrus juicer since the motor on a almost new Black and Decker juicer started smoking and turned quickly into trash.
THE CONS: So after a decent amount of research, I bought this one. I don't juice too often, but when I do, it is usually a few pounds of citrus. I thought this juicer would be okay for that, and it does works OK with some setbacks. I absolutely hate how fickle the pressure sensor is on this thing. Even with evenly distributed pressure, it will rotate quickly back and forth until you let up. There must be some sort of trick to this, but I would think a juicer wouldn't need tricks. I have also had this juicer get so warm to the touch that I had to stop and let it cool off: obviously you can't do large batches at a time. Only small batches.
THE PROS: Okay, so it was cheap. I wasn't expecting much. It also comes apart easily for cleaning, which is a big plus. It holds a decent amount of liquid and pours well without dribbling. I love that the cord is neatly tucked away in its grooves for storage.

With a capacity of more than a quart (34 ounces), this electric citrus juicer can prepare family-size portions with little operator effort. Its standard-size cone fits on the reamer to accommodate a variety of citrus fruits. The reamer automatically reverses itself to extract the maximum amount of juice, while a stirrer presses juice from the pulp in the strainer. Finally, there's an adjustable control that regulates how much pulp goes into the juice, a feature margarita fanciers will welcome. Other highlights include a generous handle, a drip-free pouring spout, and an easy-to-clean design. For storage, the cord wraps in a slot around the base, and a cover protects against dust. The 30-watt citrus juicer measures approximately 7-3/5 by 7-3/5 by 9-2/5 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.
