After using this steam press for 4 loads of mixed family laundry I am truly impressed. At first, I had to get used to placing the items on the press correctly, but once I learned how, my husband's pants took only 4 presses to get professional looking results. The secret to cutting the number of presses on thick clothing down is to use the water bottle in addition to the steam from the press. On my children's clothes, 2 presses on one side of the fabric is all that is required. I love this machine, and my husband was sceptical at first for spending over $200, but after he saw his pants and shirts neatly pressed, he agreed that it was a purchase worth while.

Metro Cast Iron Panini Press #1108 Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this pan based on the reviews and description. My pan is in the trash as I type this. The handle for the heavy press is plastic attached by a metal screw. Well, the screw could not handle the weight of the press and it came crashing to the floor and does not screw back in. So, the press is worthless. The description gave the impression that I was buying a solid iron product; there is no mention of plastic. I might have kept the pan, to salvage some sort of usefulness, but it has a strange paint-like smell to the "enamel." I am not sure what is coating this pan because none of my other enameled kitchen pans have ever smelled like this. I just find this to be a total waste of money. It is not a quality item and I would not be surprised if some sort of recall occurs with this lousy pan. I hope I have saved someone else from making the mistake I did in purchasing this product.

(More customer reviews)This works well. I think it is mostly designed for a resteraunt, but I use it at home. It does seem to work best if you put a paper on top and bottom of machine befor pressing. My only wish is that it made a slightly thicker patty. You can do this by not squeezing the meat so much, but would like a deeper patty mold. The clean up is easy and the product is quality made.

It comes complete with cloth liner and two interchangeable patty molds (5 1/4" diameter). One mold is slightly deeper than the other. (4-5 patties per pound of meat or 6-9 patties per pound of meat.) Miele : B890E Fold Down Rotary Iron Review

(More customer reviews)I have had this rotary iron for two months and absolutely adore it. Will admit that I like to iron and coveted this ironing machine for several years before making the substantial financial investment. I also have an Ironite Mangle that I purchased used about five years ago and although I still love the Ironite, the Miele is a major mechanical leap forward. What I love best about the Miele is the foot press that automatically controls the ironing plate. Also like the fact that the iron has three heat settings and actually gets hot enough to quickly iron my Italian cotton sheets. I love to sleep on ironed sheets and pillowcases and I can iron a King size sheet with the Miele in about four minutes. For optimal results you really need to dampen the cotton sheets prior to ironing - which I accomplish by spraying the sheets with scented linen water and seasoning in a plastic bag for about 15 minutes before ironing. The linen water (Vodka, Lavender & Peppermint essential oil mixed with water)really provides an aroma therapy effect. So if you have nice linens and want to keep them in excellent condition, the Miele is a must.

(More customer reviews)I had lusted after this little baby for some time and finally bought it when I found a great deal on it. It makes the most amazing sandwiches, which you can custom-tailor to your tastes. I also used it for a rolled flank steak, stuffed with mushrooms and cut into thick slices. Each slice cooked perfectly at medium heat, although like all steaks, it requires a watchful eye to prevent overcooking.
My experience with vegetables was similarly good. Peppers, onions, eggplant slices all cook in minutes with good result. I have not tried chicken breasts, but from reading the other reviews, imagine that the results will be similar.
One negative: fish can be a tricky business on this grill. I cooked an ahi steak for only a few minutes and it was overdone. I bought a stovetop grill pan specifically for fish after that (well, I confess I do throw a little bacon on it too from time to time).
I am quite satisfied with this panini grill, and love my homemade paninis. I found that a sliced kaiser or hoagie roll works well, as well as thickly sliced Italian or sourdough bread. My favorite sandwich?: thickly sliced bread, olive tapenade, roasted red pepper slices and sliced fontina. Who said heaven isn't right here?

I found the Calphalon panini grill pan to be easy to use, clean and store. It goes on the stovetop. I preheat the pan with the stainless steel lid, while I put my sandwich together. Then I brush the pan and bread with olive oil, put the sandwich on the pan and put the lid on top of the sandwich. I let it grill for a few minutes, turn over the sandwich and grill the other side. I get those great grill marks, and the lid helps flatten the sandwich and heats it too. I've also used the pan for salmon fillets, hamburgers, sausages. It does a beautiful job. Cleans up well because it's nonstick! Easy to store as well. Love this pan!

(More customer reviews)I'll make it simple: If you are looking for a home-edition garment steamer, your top 2 choices in the marketplace will likely be the Jiffy 2000 and the Rowenta 8100.
I tested both for 10 hours; on a 1 to 10 scale:
Jiffy (Looks = 6; Engineering = 10; handling = 9; craftsmanship = 10).
It looks like a mop bucket on wheels but it performs like a jet engine; every part of this machine from the plate at the bottom of the unit to the steam handle is built for rugged usage.
Rowenta (Looks = 10; Engineering = 5; Handling = 7; crafsmanship = 4).
It looks like a UFO but performs like a Pinto with much less steaming power; it is built as a toddler's toy having most parts made with inexpensive plastic including the watertank base and valve: pull the machine a single foot OR tilt it a mere 1 inch and you will experience a slow-building cascade.
Buy the Rowenta 8100 as a decorative piece to make your closet look good.
Buy the Jiffy 2000 as a garment steamer to make your clothes look good.

Velox Tomato Press / Tomato Strainer - Made in Italy Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this tomato press to replace a similar one I got years ago which finally just wore out. Be aware that the actual color of the press is RED not the white as in the photo. The square bowl that comes with this particular press is handy for catching the offloaded tomato remnants. A comment about these type of presses making only "tomato soup" which is sort of true, the pressed tomato stuff that comes out of the chute is sort of soup-like but makes a great base for spaghetti sauce, salsa, and pizza sauce. I usually add a can of tomato paste to thicken the sauce up. Secondly I saw one reviewer's comments about the left over tomato stuff being a waste, well, I learned years ago to just keep putting that material back in the hopper and re-pressing it. I recently did about 10 pounds of tomatoes from my garden and got 4 huge containers of sauce with only seeds, a stem or three, and bits of skin left over. My wife was amazed at how little is left after you keep re-pressing.
The only down side to these presses is the squisher part which is inside is tough to clean. All in all though a great way to make a sauce base for the money and a great use of my garden tomatoes.

(More customer reviews)The Norprp cast iron panini press is a very good and useful gadget. I had really gotten tired of using a filled-up tea kettle as the top weight on my grilled cheese sandwiches. The press has just the right amount of weight, covers a wide area on my 11-inch calphalon grill pan, and is easy to clean (just a quick wipe-and-dry). The reason I gave it four instead of five stars is that the ridges on the underside are pretty useless. You can't really heat this thing up enough on the gas burner to use it to simultaneously grill the top-side of your sandwich as the product lit promises. It never gets hot enough and loses heat as soon as it comes off the flame. So for me it's just a fancy weight -- but that's what I bought it for.

PRO'S
- Stores neatly & dishwasher safe - that's it.
CON'S
- Makes burgers too big - the diameter of the cylinder is over 4.5". If you're using lean ground beef or turkey, they'll end up bigger than most hamburger rolls.
- If you remove the patties from the cylinder and freeze them with the dividers in place, it's very difficult to separate the burger from the divider.
- The split cylinder can be tricky to assemble and disassemble.
There are better presses out there. I'm giving this one away.

Olympus Extra Large Commercial Juice Press, Black Review

(More customer reviews)I own a medium sized Ra Chand juicer, the popular model J210. Although the fit and finish of the Ra Chand juicer is somewhat crude, it makes up for it in brute strength and straightforward design. It works excellent for limes, lemons, and small to medium sized oranges and it will last a lifetime, even with daily use. The problem with the J210 is that it does not juice large oranges and grapefruits very well. I needed a larger juicer because I have a grapefruit tree and an orange tree that produce larger than average fruit. I decided against the Ra Chand J500 because they were more expensive than the OrangeX juicer, and the reviews of the OrangeX juicer were for the most part favorable--most of the complaints were for paint chips (doesn't appear to be a problem here) and slow delivery (also not a problem). I was disappointed when my OrangeX large commercial juicer arrived because the top cone and lower "bowl" assembly of the juicer, where the fruit fits, is no larger than the Ra Chand medium sized J210 juicer. In fact, it appears to be smaller than the Ra Chand medium sized juicer. Also, they are thin stamped stainless steel where on the Ra Chand juicer they are polished cast aluminum. That being said, the OrangeX juicer is heavy duty and fairly well built. I have no doubt it will work fine for limes, lemons, and small to medium oranges, and that it too will last a lifetime. However, now I have two juicers that will do the same thing and I still have no juicer for larger grapefruits, unless I settle for squeezing some of the grapefruit and having the edge squirt all over the edge. In retrospect, I wish I had looked at the Ra Chand J500 and, given that it is truly larger than the J210, spent the extra $50 to get something that would not only work for larger fruit, but medium and smaller fruit as well.

Starfrit Garlic Express Peeler and Cutter Review

(More customer reviews)This contraption is flimsy/cheap/weak/hard to turn, etc... The biggest issue is that it grates the garlic into mush which is fine for some things but nothing I use garlic for that often. I grow my own garlic and I like to 'see' the garlic in my food as well as taste it. It DOES leave the peel on the drum and one would think, in reading the description, that it's the only thing that could possibly do this! Wrong! The second I took it apart to wash it, I said this is a single-use POS and my 1st 1/2 thought was, I have a parmesan cheese grater that has this same drum with it but also has a coarse grate and a slicing drum! As fortune would have it, we had pasta that night and used the cheese grater... I'd made a fantastic fresh epi loaf for our bread so I put in 3 large cloves of unpealed garlic and, voilà - shredded garlic to mix into the butter! All the guests said 'I want one of those' or 'I have one of those and never thought of that!'
The parmesan graters are available in all sorts of styles and prices and are made better, MUCH easier to hold while you turn them - and do a MUCH better job of grating garlic, among other things (ginger, for one) and it also leaves the peel on the drum. Don't waste your money when you probably already have one of these, or something like it, in your gadget drawer! A Presto Salad Shooter or any rotary grater (probably the one with your food processor (I'm going to try it next time I need a lot) would do the same thing! We should thank Mr. Inventor-of-This for the idea, tho!

This steam press makes my life a lot easier. I can press both sides of an item at one time. I can put a crease in that lasts all day.
It takes some time to get used to putting items on the press. I don't really use the steam much, but I use the squirt bottle all the time. Sometimes I placed an item so it developed a crease somewhere I didn't want it. Just squirt and repress.
Unlike regular ironing where you work on a small portion at a time, this does half a shirt or a whole pants leg at a time. Proper placement and smoothing it out before pressing is VERY important or else you repeat.
I usually count to about 8 and it is done.
Most shirts take four presses of 8 seconds each. Half the shirt twice and the sleeves. Pants, hmm, I am still working on the alignment thing. Usually I am pressing the pants flat, meaning seam to seam, then folding to put the crease down the leg.
You will burn yourself. My boyfriend gave me cut resistant gloves and cut the finger tips out on the palm side to help me do the alignment thing. It opens like a clamshell. The front side is about 10" open and the back end is only about 2-3" open. It is very easy to bump the top with your hand, which is the heated part, in the process of lying clothes on it. I also wear long sleeves. AND pants or shorts. It sits about four inches lower than my fully raised ironing board since I also got the stand. Perfect for sitting, While standing, well, I am tall so it is right at my crouch level. I haven't experienced it but I heard a man who stated that he accidentally caught his "stuff" in it. So, I don't use it naked.
