(More customer reviews)I realize overall trends are more important than anything else, but, I'm pretty unhappy with just how much this scale varies. It can vary weighing yourself twice by up to 8 pounds! It's really hard to track trends when you dont know if the number you get it +/- 8 pounds at any given time.
I've owned it a couple years, and it's got other flaws - it chews through batteries of the expensive watch type, and i've had to open it several times to clean the circuit board inside with alcohol- it gets wet and when the water dries it reads Err or E untill I take it apart.

(More customer reviews)This scale is the worst thing I have ever seen, it shows a full half liter bottle of water as 194 g, this with a scale that is claimed to have a 0.1g accuracy. For those of you that does not follow the metric system, half a liter weighs 500g, so the scale is off by 306g, quite the discrepancy. Also, the buttons are placed in such a way that it is impossible to calibrate the scale without applying pressure on the measuring device leaving you with a uncalibrated scale (with the very large error in measuring it does not really matter because you would be better of just weighing the ingredients by hand). Learn from my mistake... do not buy this scale, you will only have to buy another.

Tanita HD351 Digital Scale with Memory Function Review

(More customer reviews)I am a big guy (currently 403lbs) was 421 a few months ago and have been slowly going down each week, this scale is SO accurate, if I get on and off 4-5 times in a row down to the .2 its still solid, then when I go to the healthclub and use their $2000 professional scale it reads the same numbers as the home scale.
Again I am closer to the top limits of this scale (440 top weight) yet it feels solid and doesn't flex or feel "cheap" or like it is going to break or anything.
5 different user buttons along with each of those 5 inputs having the last weight viewable for reference and a large readout and stepon plate (I wear a 14 EEEEE shoe and have no problems) make this scale worth buying at any cost.

(More customer reviews)This is a wonderful and durable scale!! So many family and friends have scales that "weigh heavy" or "Weigh Light", this one just weighs what you weigh. It is always within 1 lb of the doctor office or Weight Watchers. I have had mine for Probably 11 years, and 9 moves. It's durable!! I'm now in the market for a new one only because one of the feet came off and the kids threw it away, so without it being totally even, it's not as accurate. It has about a 3lb +/- now. But I've never owned a scale as great as this one, so with it we shall stay!!

... the FOUR MINUTE before auto-cutoff. Not like the Taylor scale I had that cut off after one minute of nonuse. It was always cutting off on me before I was finished with it.
... and NO DEFAULT SCALE It's the same as when you last turned it off (if you were using grams, the next time you turn it on it's still in grams, OR ounces at OFF then it's ounces at ON). Tap the button to change g/oz on the fly.
... AND it holds A FULL ELEVEN pounds (5kg). I put a bag of flour on it, set tare, and scoop out until it reads xx-ounces (virtually impossible with a 6# scale).
Yeah, I was a chef for many years and more interested in utility over aesthetics in my equipment. I buy flour in 5# or 10# bags now instead of 50# or 100#. I used to have to have several scales -- one for portions and and one for weighing things like yeast and salt, and bigger ones for things like flour and meats. Now 11# is sufficient and this is still accurate enough for yeast and salt.
... Okay, so it's plastic instead of yuppie glass and chrome. It's accurate and well designed -- not heavy, temperamental, or hard to clean. It just works.
... Oh, and it doesn't use strange batteries (regular old AA batteries so you don't go into conniptions when you need replacements)

Even though I got this scale for breadmaking, I've actually ended up using it more for postage and shipping and its been a real breeze to use. Has everything you'd need in a simple utilitarian kitchen scale and has definately been one of my better purchases. Now I gotta look for stuff to weigh around the house =P

(More customer reviews)I bought this machine for weighing baking ingredients. I also make my own cosmetics. Most of the time this scale surprises me with it's sensitivity and convenient features. Every once in a while it shows 88888 on its screen, but this is quickly remedied by turning it off and back on. Rarely, it shuts off in the middle of adding several ingredients to it, so I have to start over. But overall I'm impressed that something so light can read 1/10th of a gram. Highly recommend for the amature cook or crafter.

(More customer reviews)I usually find scales very annoying and nothing to talk about as they aren't accurate and are ugly. Well, at last. This one is really good looking but much more important, accurate and very easy to read, large numbers on a blue background. It has a leveling dot which floats in the display until you are standing balanced, so that each time, the weight is taken correctly. I haven't programmed it yet, but you don't have to unless you want to track your weight, otherwise it's just a regular scale. Put in the battery, tap the surface with your foot to turn it on, wait till 00.0 displays, get on, balance and there's your weight, get off and it turns off automatically. Very highly recommended.
