(More customer reviews)I realize overall trends are more important than anything else, but, I'm pretty unhappy with just how much this scale varies. It can vary weighing yourself twice by up to 8 pounds! It's really hard to track trends when you dont know if the number you get it +/- 8 pounds at any given time.
I've owned it a couple years, and it's got other flaws - it chews through batteries of the expensive watch type, and i've had to open it several times to clean the circuit board inside with alcohol- it gets wet and when the water dries it reads Err or E untill I take it apart.

(More customer reviews)This scale is the worst thing I have ever seen, it shows a full half liter bottle of water as 194 g, this with a scale that is claimed to have a 0.1g accuracy. For those of you that does not follow the metric system, half a liter weighs 500g, so the scale is off by 306g, quite the discrepancy. Also, the buttons are placed in such a way that it is impossible to calibrate the scale without applying pressure on the measuring device leaving you with a uncalibrated scale (with the very large error in measuring it does not really matter because you would be better of just weighing the ingredients by hand). Learn from my mistake... do not buy this scale, you will only have to buy another.

The only down-side is that it is large to store. I recommend keeping the box. I got it back out of the trash. It is easy to slip under a piece of furniture to tuck it out of the way. The scale is fairly easy to set up and will provide additional measurements for: % body fat; % water composition; % muscle composition and bone ratio. While these measurements have greater fluctuation and less accuracy than the weight measurement, they are useful as trend indicators. I run marathons and I find the % water composition to be very helpful and predictive of my hydration levels. The scale design is sleek and low to the floor surface. This is the best scale I've purchased.

American Weigh AC Pro 200 Digital Pocket Scale, 200 by 0.01 G Review

(More customer reviews)I'm an avid model airplane flyer and builder and use my fair share of two-part epoxy adhesives. I purchased a digital scale some time ago, but needed greater accuracy than my 0.1g resolution scale provided. I often mix very small batches of epoxy, from 1 to 6 grams. With mix ratios of 5 to 1, the second part, the hardener, can be as little as 0.2g in one batch. The 0.01g resolution this scale delivers really did the trick.
For the sub $40 price, the performance out of the box was quite good. I purchased calibration weights (class M2) which showed as 0.15% error on the scale as calibrated at the factory. Not bad.The calibration process is easy and uses a 100 and 200 grams to calibrate this scale. After cal, the readings were typically +/- 0.02g, which is what is specified by the manufacturer. Weighing performance was quite good for such an inexpensive scale.
Size-wise, this unit is slightly bigger than my iPhone. The buttons have a nice "click" to them, so you know they're being pushed. They're also plenty big for fat fingered people. The scale reads in grams, dwt, gn, and ct. In English, thats, grams, pennyweight, grains, and carats. The only missing item is ounces. I guess they only care about those who buy drugs, load their own ammunition, and perhaps mix glue :) For me, that's a minor issue. The other item of interest is that this scale's main display always displays in grams. The sub-display can be changed to the other formats, or to use the counting feature of the scale. For me, i'm happy using grams all the time. If you need the other formats, know that you're stuck with the large digits always in grams. Yes, i said it twice :)
Couple other minor gripes... the plastic quality. The outside of the scale and the display are made of soft plastic and scratch easily. In fact, there were plenty of scratches on my new scale when it arrived.The clear plastic cover is actually foggy. The display is backlit, but could be brighter.
I bought the scale to have something compact and affordable to mix epoxy. It does that job extremely well. Not the prettiest thing out there, but for the money, i'm happy with my purchase. Not five stars happy, but four will do....

Mine came quite far from calibrated, but based on the other reviews here it appears this is only a fluke. The scale is lightweight and very portable, being roughly the same size as a Nintendo DS Lite. Build quality is good; it looks like it will last a long time if used properly and carefully. Comes with two AAA batteries and a space for storing a pair of extras. Very nice scale for the price.
One hint about calibration: if you forget to buy the 100g calibration weight, you can simply use 20 U.S. nickels, as each nickel is exactly 5g.

I've had this scale for about two weeks and have done a lot of experimenting with it. Some days it seems to give me perfectly consistent readings, varying only by 0.2 pounds in either direction. Other days, I can weigh myself six times and get six different answers covering a range of about a pound.
What I've found is that the scale is extremely sensitive to the countour of the floor beneath it. Because it uses only a single load cell, located near the geometric center of the underside of the scale, it makes a huge difference whether the floor beneath it is perfectly flat or not. An uneven floor can cause tipping, put more of your weight on one side than on the other, or give a low reading if the load cell itself happens to fall into a small "valley" between higher ridges that could support the outer edges of the scale.
If you use the scale on a carpeted floor, all bets are off! A hard, flat, bare floor works the best.
By moving the scale around to different places in my bathroom, I was finally able to get reasonable and consistent readings. Finding that exact same spot again every morning isn't always easy, though.
It also makes a difference where you stand on the scale, especially if your floors (like mine) are old and "bumpy".
So, yes, the scale itself is as accurate as the manufacturer claims. But no, you might not get that kind of accuracy from it if you don't have a flat enough floor to use it on.

Salter 3003 Aquatronic Glass Electronic Kitchen Scale Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this scale recently to replace another salter aquatronic scale that just died (1003). The odd thing about this design is that the feet of the scale control the weight points which is fine for single use. However if you try to hit zero after already loading in some items on the scale (like if you want to weigh ingredient after ingredient in the same bowl)the scale measurement actually changes each time you hit the zero button. In essence it is very difficult to reset the zero feature since everytime you push the panel, the scale thinks that you are adding weight to it. The previous models had the scale parts internal to the unit so that pushing on the frame of the scale had no impact on the measurements. However with this unit, any light touch on any part of the scale causes the measurement to change. Not very useful if you plan on using any of the buttons on the front of the scale.
Overall if you plan on only ever measuring one item at a time and don't plan on using the zero function, then this unit is fine. Otherwise avoid this type of design where the feet of the unit is part of the internal measuring mechanisms. This one is going back for me so I give it a 2/5 since it does not do everything that is stated on the box. I do not think that this was a lemon unit, just a bad design.

1) Quality - There is a reason this product costs what it does....it's 7mm glass, so it is really flimsy & if you weigh over 120 lbs it feels like it is going to crack under your feet.
2) It has a very small display so it is hard to read the what the weight measurement is.
3) Accuracy - The weight measurements were not consistant. I really question how accurate this scale is.
The item "looks" good....until you get it home....

The biggest problem that I have run into is that the power save feature turns off the scale while I am still adding chemicals to the weight dish. When you turn the scale back on, it zeros itself out. ... the FOUR MINUTE before auto-cutoff. Not like the Taylor scale I had that cut off after one minute of nonuse. It was always cutting off on me before I was finished with it.
... and NO DEFAULT SCALE It's the same as when you last turned it off (if you were using grams, the next time you turn it on it's still in grams, OR ounces at OFF then it's ounces at ON). Tap the button to change g/oz on the fly.
... AND it holds A FULL ELEVEN pounds (5kg). I put a bag of flour on it, set tare, and scoop out until it reads xx-ounces (virtually impossible with a 6# scale).
Yeah, I was a chef for many years and more interested in utility over aesthetics in my equipment. I buy flour in 5# or 10# bags now instead of 50# or 100#. I used to have to have several scales -- one for portions and and one for weighing things like yeast and salt, and bigger ones for things like flour and meats. Now 11# is sufficient and this is still accurate enough for yeast and salt.
... Okay, so it's plastic instead of yuppie glass and chrome. It's accurate and well designed -- not heavy, temperamental, or hard to clean. It just works.
... Oh, and it doesn't use strange batteries (regular old AA batteries so you don't go into conniptions when you need replacements)

I can put something on the Zenith scale, push a button twice to zero out the container, then add the ingredient that I'm really weighing. It's really helped, with far less time and fuss than my older scale--where I was constantly moving the dial back and forth, then guessing what was truly "O". I also like the units conversion feature (oz., grams, fluid oz). My pasta labels display "grams" but most food logs record entries in oz. or fluid oz.
