First off, I bought it to mainly clean hard floors (vinyl flooring mostly) but the steam sprays forward from one nozzel as opposed to down onto the floor. It sprays forward into a terry pocket that fits on the end of a wand, so the terry gets soaking wet and the floor gets the same cleaning as if you mopped with hot water! I used to own a Eureka Enviro-steamer that sprayed the steam down through several vents directly thru a terry bonnet onto the floor... straight down!! The Eureka worked fabulously except that I had to refill it 3 or 4 times to do all my floors so I gave it away and wasted my hard earned $$$ on this piece of garbage. Now, fast forward to 8 months after I buy it and the on/off switch that controls the steam flow is broken and I cannot turn it OFF!! So I can't use this thing at all because it doesn't build up pressure because the water is spraying out of the tip before it can generate any steam because it won't shut off!! I called the company after an hour of searching the web to find out who to call and guess what????? I have to pay to ship this thing to them with ALL the attachments and then pay to have it shipped back to me!!! DO I NEED TO SPEND ANOTHER 40 OR 50 DOLLARS ON SHIPPING????????? Needless to say, I'm aggravated as all get-out over this thing and my husband is mad that I gave away the Eureka on top of it all!!
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! BETTER YET, EVEN IF YOU ARE OFFERED IT FOR FREE DON'T BOTHER!!!

THANE H20 MOP STEAM CLEANER Review

(More customer reviews)While nothing will ever really replace the Cinderella-style of hands and knees scrubbing, this mop certainly is better than pulling out the regular mop and bucket of luke warm brown water.
It is sturdy enough and easy to assemble. its easy to use and does a great job of cleaning without chemicals. Sticky juice spills in the kitchen come up quickly and easily and the sanitizing feature is great for the area just in front of the bathroom toilet where men can never seem to avoid. lol.
The cord was plenty long enough for the rooms in my house, since I dont live in a mansion with huge rooms. And I was able to clean my kithen ceramic tile in less time than it took my husband to go outside and smoke a leisurly cigarette. The floor dried much faster than with regular mopping but I could see spots of dampness here and there when I was done so I am not sure how safe i would feel using it on hardwood floors.
The cons: it only comes with 2 reusable pads. So after the kitchen and bathroom I had to stop and wait for the wash before I could do the hall bath and the downstairs bath. Plus I felt I could redo the kitchen a 2nd time since the pad was so filthy the first time around. So you really do need to buy more pads.
Also, it does NOT do grout. If you have a spill in the grout lines the best you can do is 'sanitize' the spot (holding the mop there for 8 seconds) to loosen the dirt and then manually wiping clean with a rag or paper towel.
Finally, while the swivel head is easy to manever, it really does not get into corners all that well. And much like regular mopping, you have to sweep well or vacuum first or else you will just be pushing around crumbs or hair which will collect along baseboards and corners.
Since this is a great novelty mop, and since I love that I dont have to buy cleaners, I would definetely recommend this mop for people who like to keep their floors clean, and are sick of the mop and bucket style of cleaning. My floors are cleaner and I look forward to using it again when those stupid pads go through the wash again. lol.

Oreck Steam-It Steam Mop Review

(More customer reviews)Let me start by saying that I am a huge Oreck fan. I think that they make quality products that do what they say they do. However, I can't say that this product measures up. They are on the right track but have several details to work out yet. I already own a Shark steam mop but find the handle to be a little short (I am tall) and it doesn't hold enough water to do my whole kitchen area with one fill. I was quite excited to hear that Oreck had a steam mop. I went to the Oreck store and got a demo. I commented then that the 'pad' was loose and coming off while he mopped, and that the head of the mop was being uncooperative during the carpet refresh demo. He made excuses for all so I bought the steam mop. The mop holds about a gallon of water, and has a very tall handle and a long cord. All good things. The quality and construction are excellent. However, the first thing you notice is that it weighs more than your vaccuum. The pad is actually a piece of cotton duck fabric about a foot square with a strip of terry cloth like fabric down the center. Picture a baby diaper from 20 years ago. You lay that on the floor and use those yellow tabs in the picture to pinch the loose ends of the cloth under the yellow tab. I began to mop and noticed right away that the steam production is fast and strong, good, but the mop is very very hard to push. It is heavy and awkward to move and now I know why the salesman spent so much time showing me the shoulder movement I should use to push the mop back and fowards. The forward motion caused everything I picked up with the mop to be pushed into a line of bits and fuzz on the floor so I tried to turn the mop and capture the fuzzy stuff. Immediately the pad came unclipped. I repositioned the pad and tried again. Again the pad came off. I tried to mop around the bathroom toilet, pulling it longways along the side of the toilet, the pad came off. Each time I pulled the mop towards myself, the head of the mop leaves the floor, tilting on its back edge and drags back to me. When I push forward, it flattens out again. The mop handle stores all the water and electronics and weighs close to 10 lbs, the mop head on the other hand is a lightweight hollow piece of plastic. The design of the head is bad because it can't compete with the weight of that handle and because it is like a box, not a flat pad holder. I could not mop under the water shut off valves behind the toilet because the head is too tall and boxxy, nor under the kitchen cupboard kickspace nor under the door backstops along the molding, all because of the height of the head. Each of these places had to be done separately without the steam mop. Lots of rework that day and lots of frustration. It has a snap on piece for the head that lets it glide on carpet so I tried that as well. Like what I saw in the store demo, each stroke out was great, each stroke back found the head flipping up on its back and bouncing back or dragging back towards me. I really can't imagine that the tester of this product actually tried mopping or steaming with it before it was release to market. And yes, I tried bending down lower, changing my angle, going faster, slower, none of it helped. It has 2 rocker switches on the handle covered by a rubbery plastic box. One controls power, the other steam. After leaving the mop for several hours, I came back to find that the power\preheat switch light was out, but that the mop was hot. The switch wasnt fully off, just looked like it. Because of the rubbery box around the switches, it is hard to tell if a switch is completely clicked in one direction or the other and obviously the led on the switch isn't so sure either. Thats a fire hazard in my book. I have boxed this Oreck back up, first thing I have ever returned to Oreck, but it is going back and when they come out with a new improved model, I will give that a try. For now, I really don't think this design is ready for public consumption, too many engineering issues to work out.
The good:
Great construction, holds nearly a gallon of water, produces really good steam really fast, long cord.
The bad:
The water weighs far to much, handle pushes down so hard it makes the head flip up on every backstroke
The power switches are difficult
It is too heavy and awkward to be used as a window washer or steam cleaner as shown in the commercials. Imagine hoisting your heavy full size vacuum up to your windows or stove to clean with it.
The pad is useless because nothing sticks to it, it just collects anything it finds and leaves it at the end of your stroke, it needs to be more like the shark pad, thick, soft and absorbant.
The design of the yellow pad pinchers is rediculous, they don't keep the pad in place if you turn the mop head even a little - the pad comes off immediately. They are similar to a chip clip and are trying to hold a wet cotton cloth under pressure while moving. Not happening.
The head to too tall, can't mop under anything normal, and it is too light to stay positioned on the floor when fighting with the weight of the handle.

(More customer reviews)I purchased the Haan 20 Steam Mop about two weeks ago. I have used it countless times already!! The first time I used it I thought it wasn't doing anything...until I did the paper towel test. I scrubbed the area I just went over with the steam mop and the paper towel was WHITE!! I then scrubbed an adjacent area that I did not steam and the paper towel turned gray. We have a very busy household with a dog and a two year old. I cleaned all of our sealed hardwood floors and ceramic tile and now when my 2 year old runs around in her white socks they STAY WHITE!! It is truly amazing. I feel like an infomercial but I really could not be happier with this purchase. My husband got black shoe polish all over our light hardwood floors. Soap and water would not budge it. I pulled out the steam mop just to try it out...shoe polish came right up with one run over it with the steam mop. WOW!! Another plus is that as long as you change the pads regularly the floors are completely dry once you pass over an area. So you don't have to worry about family and pets tracking their dirty shoes and paws through your freshly mopped floors.
Now the cons (though not that bad to me):
1. You are tethered to an outlet. Not too much a problem as we have many outlets all over the house. If you are like me you were changing the water in the mop bucket frequently when using a regular mop...so moving a cord around is much preferred in my book.
2. You have to fill the mop with 8oz of water every 20 minutes or so. A little red light comes on to tell you to fill it up. I have to add water about 4 times to do all the high traffic areas in my home.
3. The microfiber pads need to be changed regularly. Once the pad is saturated it starts to leave wetness that lingers on the floor. If I use two microfibers pads per 8oz. fill-up it seems to be the perfect balance. I have 6 microfiber pads and that is perfect for my 1800 sq ft house.
4. Using the steam mop is a little slower than regular mopping. You don't just rush the mop over the floor. You have to move a little slower so that it has time to steam up the mess and then grab it in the microfiber pad. This adds a little extra time but totally worth it since there are no chemicals and the floor is completely sanitized. I sure wish I had this product when my daughter was crawling. It would have saved time and my back from scrubbing the floors by hand.
Oh, I have the carpet attachment. This is great for sanitizing the carpet, bedding and upholstery. We are an allergic household so it seems to work well for this. You do not use the microfiber pads when using this attachment so I am not sure that it would remove stains. I have not tried it for that yet...but I will when I have the chance.

H20 Vac Turbo Water Filtration System Vacuum Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)I grew up with an old Rainbow (well over twenty years ago) and noticed the huge advantages of having a water filtration vacuum. it's great for reducing the dust in your house, and with frequent usage, can seemingly eliminate the presence of dust all together. You can accomplish that using this vacuum. BUT... ONE: the suction is not what it claims to be. the twenty year old rainbow I had significantly stronger suction. So beware if you have lots of carpets. TWO: the water reservoir is a good size, but you use VERY LITTLE water. You have to change it frequently while using (again, if your house is heavily carpeted, this issue can be a pain). THREE: clean-up of the vacuum itself is another step you have to account for. because you use so little water, dirt can splash around the plastic tunneling where that spits the dirt into the water reservoir. it's not difficult to clean, but with the crevices, takes a little bit of time. It's necessary, if you don't want the scent of previous dirt to haunt you when you use the vacuum next. Also, when storing, paper-towel the reservoir and the plastic tunneling dry before you store it, or leave it out to dry before putting it back in. You don't want the scent of mildew either. I've read complaints about how flimsy the plastic is. It's an exaggeration. Compared to the Rainbow, where the plastic is so strong and rugged that it is seemingly childproof (I remember, my syblings and I abused the machine growing up and it still kept on going strong), the H20 vac fails to compare, BUT it's strong enough for frequent use, and the abuse from regular usage. beware of children though. it's not childproof strong! all together i feel it's a fair vacuum for the price. it's honestly a tenth of what the rainbow is, so compared to that, it is sufficiently a tenth of the price of the Rainbow. This will hold me over until i can afford to have a rainbow in my life again.

(More customer reviews)We have allergies, so most of our floors are hard covered. I have tried the scooba, which works well but only does one room at a time, and requires a bit of set up. This product is a third of the price of scooba, and works amazingly well. I suggest vacuuming first, since you do not rinse the mop head and dont want to risk scratching your floor with sandy residue. Then simply fill the mop with water, wait 30 seconds and you're ready to go. I was impressed by the way the mop cleaned, evident by the dirt on the pad! We have one old original wood floor in our bedroom and was a bit leery of trying it on the wood, but seriously, when my husband got home, he asked me what I did to make the floor look so nice! It steamed away stains we were not able to get out with any other method. I love not having to use chemicals on the floors in order to clean them. This mop comes with 5 machine washable pads, so you will not need to buy replacements for a long time, although when you do, you will note that they are expensive! It also comes with a glider for carpets, so you can steam and refresh them. It is a bit awkward to use it, but does the job.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these for a Steamboy steam mop to replace the standard microfiber pads that come with it. These are much sturdier, holding up better than the original pads that tend to pull apart at the seams. I also think that the longer fibers clean better getting into grout and corners far better than the standard ones. My primary complaint is that both versions have a poor fastening system and tend to pull off the steam mop while using it. It would be nice if the manufacturer would design a better closure system that would hold onto the head of the mop. I would have given this a four star review if the design was better. Unfortunately, I have not found any other steam mop pads that fit better so there is not much choice.

(More customer reviews)Okay so Im going to lay it out as Pros and Cons... thats the easiest way to do it I guess. But first off I think the first time I used it I didnt do it right because the second time everything went beautifully.
Pros:
If you take your time with it, you will have a super clean floor. Definately was better than breaking my back on my hands and knees with a sponge. I would rather take extra time with this mop.
Price is Great
Swivels nicely... got behind the toilet in my tiny bathroom.
Cons:
Only 15min of steam... at first this was not enough but like I said i think i was doing it wrong, the second time i got my kitchen floor done in the 15min and it looked beautiful.
No instructions in the box - i probably would have had a better result the first time if there were instructions.
the wash cloth on the bottom is pretty thin and flimsy
You have to wait for it to cool down before you can refill it to use it again (i used this time tho to wash my base boards with a sponge and i had my kids help me out so that wait was not that horrible)
Tips:
The section you put the Lysol in... You have to push the white button looking thing down a few times to get the lysol to work. I didnt do that the first time and i noticed it still sitting in the chamber when i was done.
Move slow... give the heat a few seconds on each spot. you dont have to go too terribly slow but dont just fastly mop like its a regular mop.
Order extra cloths, I had to throw the two in the wash machine before i was done with my floor and wait for them to be done. I did that though because I went over the floor a second coat. Im glad I did to because the second coat/wash I had barely any dirt that time which makes me feel like my floor is spic n span

It easy to use, lightweight and does not soak the floor with excess steam like my old steam cleaner. Just a tip-At first I was reluctant about the floor cleaner because when you first use the steam cleaner on tile all the residue from previous floor soaps come up creating a white film. I did not know what to make of that-talk about getting everything out of the tile. It really did. I cleaned the floor with vinegar and warm water to get all the soap off the floor. Thank goodness that only needed to be done once. It was worth it. Since then my floor is amazing. I can walk in my house with socks and they do not get grungy. I also use the floor steamer on my hardwood floors. For years my cherry floors always showed every smudge and foot print. I began over the years to hate my floors. What I found out was it was not my floors, it was the cleaners. Just like the tile the first time you clean the wood it may look dull. What I found is that as I continued to clean the floor with the Haan Steam floor cleaner my floors no longer show all the smudges and foot prints. The little cleaning system is great also. I use it to clean everything from the bathroom, base boards, grit and build up in the corners, stainless steel, windows to the tracks on my sliding glass doors. It is also awesome on flat stove tops. I love it. Not only is it a great product but I have saved so much money not buying cleaners (floor cleaner, wood cleaner, shower cleaner etc... It is a savings of about $28-35 a month. I never thought going green would be easy.

(More customer reviews)I LOVE clean floors. It is my biggest pet peeve to have dirty floors since we don't wear shoes in the house. When the floor gets dirty or sticky you can feel it on your bare feet! With two small children, even without shoes, my floors get plenty dirty! The H20 mop is amazing! I love that it heats up HOT making me feel like it is really disinfecting. The water resevoir is large and doesn't need to be refilled very often. The triangle shaped mop that gets into corners wonderfully! I love that you don't have to pump it, and the steam is continuous.
I've had 3 steam mops. The first was the Original Thane H20 mop, but after 2 years and 2 houses and many many uses, it finally died on me. So I went to Costco and the Shark Steam Mop was there with an instant $10 rebate. I ended up getting it because it had decent reviews and I was in need of something right away. I was so disappointed with the Shark! I had to go over my floor TWICE with 2 pads and SEVERAL refills of water to get it clean. And I still didn't feel like it was as clean as when I used the H20 mop, which in the past, I only had to go over the floor once, using 1 pad without having to refill. I hated that you had to pump the Shark mop to get steam out of it, and that the floor didn't feel hot to the touch after going over it. Most of the steam seemed to be just going into the air. Also, the pad only seemed to get dirty in the middle, the sides where still clean, and the pad kept falling off the velcro attachment. The next day the Shark Steam Mop went back to Costco and I went on [...] purchase another H20 mop. I was pleasantly surprised to see that there is now a new version of the H20 mop called the H20 mop ULTRA.
It arrived today and I am in steam clean heaven! I am posting a review of the Ultra here, since the product is not on amazon yet. The Ultra has the same functions as the original H20 mop PLUS it detaches and acts as a household steam cleaner for grout, sinks, toilets, etc. Although it is twice the price as the original it is absolutely worth the money if you can afford it, and you also want a steam cleaner to clean not just the floor, but the whole house! I ended up buying the 3 year extended warranty for an additional $20. A major improvement to the Original, the Ultra has a longer cord and an even larger reservoir for water. I knew I wouldn't be disappointed in it's capabilities to clean the floor since I've owned the original. Even though I had steam cleaned the floor only 3 days ago with the inferior Shark, the h20 mop picked up a lot of dirt that the Shark left behind! After cleaning the floors, I was eager to detach the mop head and test the steamer out on my bathroom grout! The house we live in now is an older home, built in the 50's. The bathrooms are tiled with wide grout lines at the sinks. I put the steamer to work on our most used bathroom (the kids bathroom as well as the main bathroom in the house) and I am so amazed. The grout in the kids bathroom (sink) was practically brown from years of use and now it is white again. I wish I would have taken before and after pictures because I'm so amazed! SO AMAZED. I had tried in the past to clean the grout with bleach, soft scrub, just about EVERYTHING. I thought it was just stained from years of use from previous owners of the home. Just a few minutes using the Ultra and it looks brand new again and I used only PURE WATER! I can't wait to tackle the rest of the house! I LOVE LOVE this product.

(More customer reviews)I purchased these pads for an H2O steam mop I inherited that had no pads. I was particularly interested in the unique style of these pads. I have a couple of other steam mops and both feature microfiber pads with a relatively flat pile. These pads, however, are almost like a microfiber rug. They have a long, twisted pile and are extremely thick and soft. They attach to the mop using an elastic drawstring with a plastic cincher to hold it in place.
Because the pile is thicker, it takes a little longer for the steam to penetrate these pads so there is a bit of a learning curve. Once you figure out how long you need to wait - a couple of minutes or so - until the pad is saturated enough to start mopping, they perform very well. The long pile is a big advantage on ceramic tile because it reaches down into the grout better than flat pads. It also spreads out a little on the sides so it seems to clean better around the edges of walls, etc. For gunk that is really stuck on, I don't think they "scrub" as well as flat, firmer pads, though. They also become saturated more than flat fiber pads, so I'm not sure they would be safe to use on large areas of laminate or wood flooring because they might be too wet. I would say these pads perform best on ceramic or vinyl tile.
The elastic drawstring is the real drawback to these pads. My Bissell steam mop uses pads that attach this same way, and I have the same problems with them - they work their way loose as I am mopping because the plastic cincher slips. I solved this by removing the elastic string and replacing them with cotton shoestrings, which I just tie in a bow when putting the pads on. Works perfectly, but annoying to have to do that.

My problem is with Amazon - The specifications clearly state that there is only ONE microfiber pad included and that the "optional carpet tray can be purchased separately." ONE microfiber pad leaves the 200.00 steam vac USELESS!!!! I have purchased pads, but they don't fit at all.... I just grin and bear it because I love the steamer..... As for carpets, I can't use my SV 60 on my carpets because NO ONE, ANY WHERE, can help me find a carpet tray....... I should have researched and purchased one from another vendor that includes FOUR microfiber pads AND the carpet tray with agitator brush...... The 50.00 extra that I would have paid would have been MONEY WELL SPENT ...... you cannot put a price on the time and effort I have spent trying to PAY for PADS that FIT and the Carpet Tray...... Buyer Beware!!!! Somehow, be CERTAIN of the contents of the box.....

(More customer reviews)Whether I used a regular mop and bucket, my swiffer wet jet, or my hoover steam vac, I always ended up with a haze on my hardwood floors that I would clean off with a wipe or furniture polish. This is the first machine that leaves my floor shiny and without a haze. It is worth it just for that!!! I also like the job it does on my lineoleum. The first couple of times I used it on what I thought were clean floors because I had recently mopped them, I was surprised at how dirty the water was. After using this as my primary means to clean my floors (two maybe three times a week depending on traffic and what is going on in my household) I notice that my floors not only look cleaner, but also feel much cleaner on the few occassions when I am not wearing house slippers. This is so much better than the regular mopping.
I have read other reviews on the flip-it regarding water being left on the floor; when that does happen, I just go back over that section so that it will be taken care of. For the most part I don't care about a little water on the floor because I would have so much more if I had the mop and bucket or used my steam vac. I am sold!

(More customer reviews)I have been researching mops, steam mops, wood floor sweepers, etc. for about two months. I have read every pro and con of pretty much everything out there. I have a ton of wood floor and tile in my house and I absolutely cannot stand to clean it. I hate sweeping the wood floor, I hate the debris that flies in the air, I hate bending over with the dust pan, I hate the sticky feeling my swiffer leaves behind, I just overall have hated my floors for 5 years because they never ever feel clean. I had a friend sing the praises of the Shark steam mop the other day, so I finally decided to break down and buy SOMETHING. I didn't even care if it did an excellent job, I just wanted something. But- my one qualification was that it be a combo steamer and sweeper. I just had to solve the sweeping issue at the same time. Which leaves you with pretty much the Bissell or the Shark. I looked at the Shark at Wal-mart and the bottom of it made me laugh. The vacuum hole is like 3 inches wide and has no brush or anything. I was not impressed with that. So I went to Target and picked up the Bissell. And now I want to marry it and become Mrs. Bissell because it is so fantastic. A few things about this machine you might want to know: It has an awesome, LONG strong cord. It has a really cool "dyson-like" ball joint that makes it super easy to manuever. The steam works great, the water tank looks tiny, but it lasts a really long time, it comes with two pads that are thick and strong, it lays completely flat when going under furniture, it fits under the counters in the kitchen, it doesn't leave very much water on the floor (I read other complaints of other manchines that leave a ton of water), it dries really fast, it heats up and is ready in 15 seconds or less, it has a clear compartment on top so you can see what debris it is picking up. One caveat- the suction is not super strong, but then again I like my vacuums to sound like a jet engine and suck my skin off if they had the chance, so maybe I am picky. But the brush feature does pick up a lot of stuff. And having the cleaning pad right behind it helps to trap stuff too. So for instance it picked up small leaves, not a band-aid wrapper. It picked up cracker crumbs and bugs, but not a tag to a shirt. The machine is meant to be used with the vacuum and the steamer going simultaneously to save time, however, I like to use just the vacuum and dry cloth to dust mop/vacuum my floors and then activate the steam and do it seperately. But I did use it together and it did okay. Another nice feature is that it is a light and easy machine so you really enjoy using it and don't feel like you are lugging out a Volkswagen to do your chores. I have had it two days and I have been using the vacuum constantly. I love that thing! And once you do an initial clean- the follow-up cleanings are a snap! I finally feel like my floors are clean. It has changed my whole feeling about my house. As far as anything I don't like, you do have to squeeze a trigger for when you want steam and if you are steaming your whole floor then your finger hurts by the end and that is a little annoying. It does also take some upmh! to push it when you are steam cleaning at first. I am sure it gets easier as the floor is cleaner :) Anyway, this machine is one of the best purchases I have made in a long time. I highly recommend it!
