LG Home Applaince DLE2050W - 7.3 CF FRONT CTRL SILVER DR TR Review

I bought this dryer with the matching LG : WM2050CW 27in Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White washer (see my LG WM2050CW washer review). This is our first electric dryer from LG and we are happy to say that just like the matching pair of washing machine LG WM2050CW the DLE2050W 7.1 cu ft capacity electric Dryer is an excellent dryer appliance!
It is very easy to operate and has sensors (Sensor Dry System) and automatically adjusts the drying time for clothes which in my humble opinion eliminates the guess work one needs to do with respect to drying times for clothes. This saves a lot of money in electricity bills.
It has manual controls for timed drying cycles if you are not happy with the sensor based drying cycle. It boasts 5 Temperature Levels of High, Medium High, Medium, Low & Ultra Low and also another Wrinkle Care Cycle to Periodically tumble-dry clothes without heat to reduce wrinkles.
Product dimensions are (WxHxD) 27"x38 3/4"x30" (51" with door open) The machine is very well built and made in Korea and in my opinion should last many years!
PROS
[+] 7.1 Cu ft is large enough for most households
[+] Reasonably quick drying time (40-45 mins) for regular load of clothes
[+] Plethora of automated options for desired fabric care
[+] User friendly control panel which also has child lock
[+] Fairly large lint screen filter to capture lint.
[+] We like the musical jingle at the end of a cycle rather than a loud buzzer!
CONS
[-] Needs 3-wire (30AMP) 220V AC power cord to be purchased extra
[-] Needs a semi-rigid dryer duct to be purchased extra depending on installation location
[-] Does not include stand for drying shoes
Make sure that you level the Dryer properly for optimal operation, the included feet leveling screws may need tweaking to match the washing machine's height level.
If you have already bought the excellent energy saving washing machine model LG : WM2050CW 27in Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White add this to complete your laundry pair - Highly recommended!

It's a great machine but you can save four hundred bucks by buying an IQ-Touch instead. There is nothing a Wave-Touch can do that an IQ-Touch can not. The Wave-Touch has 4 distinguishing features over the IQ:
1. The Wave spins at 1350 vs. the IQ's 1200 rpm. No big deal. I don't think there's any practical difference in the amount of water extracted that will make a real dent in the drying time.
2. The Wave has an "Active Wear" cycle. It's not something you'd ever miss if your machine did not have it in the first place. You can use the IQ's "Casual wear" cycle instead, which differs from the Active Wear cycle by only 5 minutes.
3. The Wave's options are hidden in tedious to use menus and submenus, instead of the IQ's simple to use buttons. Buttons win here because you can see at a glance what options are active, especially useful for the next time you use the washer. With the Wave-Touch's menu style you'll be forced to scroll through the menus to see what options have been selected.
4. Wave-Touch has 3 favorites memory buttons vs. one favortie for the IQ-Touch. I have yet to find this feature useful. When one is useless to me, having 3 doesn't make it any better.
Construction-wise the two machines are otherwise identical.
Conclusion: The Wave costs $300 to $400 more than the IQ and delivers the same level of performance as the IQ. The Wave is for people who have money to burn. Okay, with a bit of sheepishness I have to admit I did buy a Wave instead of an IQ.
Now, let me review the Wave with steam function, since that's the one I actually bought.
The machine is exceedingly quiet when washing. The only real noise comes during the spin cycles.
As for vibration, make sure you balance the machine using a good quality level and follow the leveling instructions. Read the manual and it's imperative that the shipping bolts be removed per the instructions before using the machine!!! My house has a crawl space. My laundry room is on the first floor, where the washer would be perfectly capable of transmitting vibration if it was not leveled properly. So far it's been very smooth, in fact much smoother than my previous top-loader, with hardly much of any vibration. Keep in mind that every load is different and each load has its own vibration and noise characteristics. Some loads will be vibration free, other loads with a very unbalanced load (pillows and comforters, for example) will have some vibration. If it vibrates at all it's almost always during the spin up and spin down phase of the spin cycle. Once it actually gets into the spin cycle, there is usually little vibration.
This washer is quite ingenious in fighting vibration by ramping up to full spin speed in incremental stages. During the first stage, it slowly rotates the wet load counterclock-wise to test for balance, and also to pump out water. If it detects even the slightest hint of an unbalanced load, it will stop and reverse direction, i.e. spin clockwise, at the same slow rpm to let the clothes to shuffle in the drum. After a few seconds of this clockwise spin, it reverses direction again, i.e. counter-clockwise again, it then tests for balance again. If it again detects a poor balance, it will keep on doing this reversing direction routine until it redistributes the load evenly. When it's finally satisfied that the balance is good, it will then launch into high spin speeds in several stages. Frequently, after it has launched into a higher speed, it detects unacceptable vibration. It will instantly abort the spin and perform the shuffling routine again and again until it gets the balance right. It's not uncommon for it to go back and forth many times for as long as 5 minutes to find the sweet spot. As more water is progressively pumped out and the load becoming progressively lighter and better balanced, it will proceed to the next higher speed, finally maxing out at 1350 rpm, during the last 2 minutes of the spin cycle.
As for the steam feature, I've yet to find definitive evidence that it's the steam itself that gets the dirt out. The steam cycle essentially adds 20 minutes of wash time to any wash cycle using either warm water or hot water. Maybe it's the extra 20 minutes of washing in warm water in the steam cycle that does the trick. It's hard to tell.
It washes loose clothing very well while using little water. By "loose clothing," I mean items that are somewhat small and that will wet easily and shrink in volume as they are wetted. Items with these characteristics can freely tumble around one another inside the drum, as long as the machine is not overloaded. However when it comes to washing bulky big loads, such as pillows and synthetic fiber comforters, synthetic fiber bedspreads, etc., its miserliness in water use is its biggest flaw. With these bulky items, the water level is woefully inadequate to thoroughly wet the interior mass. And because they are synthetic fiber items, they don't shrink much in volume even when wetted, so they don't have much room to rotate inside the drum. The same side of the pillow or comforter then faces the drum and the center side doesn't ever get enough water. So, the side facing the drum surface gets cleaned but the center side doens't get cleaned. I bought this washer specifically to wash big bulky items such as pillows and synthetic fiber comforters, so it's a bit disappointing that it doesn't clean these items well. The way to get around this problem is to pause the machine after it's finished filling, and add water on your own either through the door or through the detergent tray. It works. Adding about 1 to 2 gallons of hot water fixes the problem.
I still love the washer, but only wish it had a "bulky items" selection which would allow it to have more water during the wash cycle. I believe this problem with washing bulky items is endemic to all high effiency front load washers and not just Electrolux. The real wish is to allow a separate button to vary the water level, like that found on my old Kenmore top-loader, but I don't think we'll ever see that water level selection switch on these high efficiency washers. I think the Electrolux designers' hands were tied by the stringent Federal energy efficiency standards.

Particularly avoid those with steam.
Don't believe me, search F35 SUD duet.
Analog pressure switch fails under normal usage quickly, but apparently many times after warranty up in 12 months.
Stick with tried and true, avoid Whirlpool front loaders, or pay up for warranty that lasts your ownership cycle.
Also, be prepared to be without a washer.
Clearly a prevalent problem and design flaw, but Whirlpool refuses to acknowledge with a free replacement.

I conducted a LOT of research before we decided on this Amana front load washing machine. Our 13 year old Kenmore top loader finally died, and we were in the market for a quality washing machine in the four hundred to eight hundred dollar range or so. 'Consumer Reports' rated this machine highly, as did actual owners/users of it on various other sites, including Home Depot's. Even if the reviews may be 'carefully culled' (as a previous reviewer stated), certainly the excellent user reviews on the 'Consumer Reports' website were not. There were many negative reviews written up for other washers on that site as well. In any case, we were smitten by the price, features, and excellent reviews the Amana garnered, so purchasing this machine was a 'no brainer'. It uses much less electricity and water than a conventional top loader, has an automatic reservoir dispenser for laundry detergent, fabric softener, and bleach, and a second rinse cycle, as well as a 'quick wash' and other longer washes, which is perfect. Our clothes and comforters (full and queen sized) came out smelling great, and best of all, the spin cycle got our clothes the driest i've ever seen in all my years of using commercial and residential washing machines. Consequently, drying time has been cut down substantially. The 'knob issue' that some people bring up is really a 'non issue', since you can re-start the washer by re-pressing the knob if you accidentally bump into it. But truth be told, unless your laundry room is extremely cramped, or you have to reach over and above the washing machine to get something off a shelf, most people will never bump the washer to the off position. Also, the previous reviewer's mention of the washer not turning off is nonsense. Of course the washer turns off when the spin cycle ends. The LED indicators that stay on are just there to remind you that the wash is done, and that you have to open the door and retrieve your laundry. This doesn't mean the machine is actually on. It is not. Another non-issue. All in all, my wife and I are ecstatic and floored by the cleaning ability and sheer value afforded by this phenomenal machine! Amana truly hit a 'home run' with this unit in all respects. If you don't believe me, go read all the online reviews, including 'Consumer Reports'. Buy with confidence.

The set was purchased as a gift for me by my husband in an effort to make laundry easier (larger capacity = less loads) and be more effecient - it uses 1/3 the amount of water my un-he top loader did. He purchased the wfw9200sq elec. dryer as well.
While it was being delivered from Lowe's the installation man told me "be ginger with the doors, they break a lot, but a lot less than they used to." Okay.
The machine worked great for 5 days, then at 6am with much laundry to be done, I pressed power, put in a load, added the soap to the cheap plasticky soap dispenser (which I figured would be the first thing to go on the machine) and BEEEP BEEEEP BEEEP!!!!! F 26 flashes on the machine three times. So, I tried again. BEEEEP BEEEEP BEEEP F 26. Then I unplugged it. Then I tried it again. Then I called Whirlpool who said to unplug it. Which I did. BEEP BEEP BEEP F26.
"What does that mean?" I ask..
"Don't know" she said. "Never heard of F26 coming up on a display."
The she said they would dispatch someone in ONE WEEK. I explained that would not do, this machine was only a few days old. They gave me a priority service call (which I did not pay for) and the guy came the next morning.
He showed me a combination of buttons to push to get into some diagnostic mode to remedy the issue but assured me this was a fluke and would not happen again.
"What does F26 mean?" I asked.
" It's a door thing", he said, "but it's no big deal. Won't happen again."
" Why doesn't the phone-in customer service guy tell you the button combination and save the service call?"
I ask.
"Don't know" he said.
He leaves and literally 20 mintues later... BEEEP BEEEP BEEP F26 error. I tried the diagnostic code trick. Still with the "F26" error.
Then I tried to call the service man on his cell phone 3 times and he didn't answer. Then I called Whirlpool. They said they could send someone..... in ONE WEEK.
I went back to Lowes that day and asked that it be returned. I got a whirlpool cabrio top loader (thinking I would avoid the front loader door problem altogether) which was close to $1000 cheaper -- it is extremely loud, but no operational problems with it so far.
Bottom line, maybe I got a lemon, but 5 days of regular use and the thing blew up. It was quiet and did clean the clothes nicely and spun them almost dry so that the dryer need not run excessively. But I still wouldn't recommend it. $2500 for the pair is a lot of money.

I purchased my matching washer and dryer at sears and have this exact model. First I have to say this was not my first choice as I tend to want to purchase the "cadillac" of every home appliance. However financially I had to be slightly more modest with my selection. I am amazed with this machine and pleasantly suprised!!
-It is EXTREMELY QUIET and the loudest part is at the end when it is spinning out the water, it kind of sounds like a quietly-muffled jet engine..lol
-On the very first wash I did my CLOTHES CAME OUT 3 TIMES BRIGHTER than my last regular top loader.
-Oh!! And it BARELY USES WATER....It turns to the right then the left coating the clothes with the detergent water until it saturates them completely. Then it begins the washing process where it turns several times to the right and then to the left all the while it basically beats the clothes against the drum as it turns..Kind of reminds me of the old times when people would wash their clothes in the creek and beat them against the rocks. :) It is such a simple concept and yet it tooks so long to get here!
-The other thing I like is the detergent compartment...it has 3 places to put your detergent, bleach and softener and then you walk away, no going back to add the softener.
-Another thing I noticed is that when the spinning process is complete the drum turns a few more times to the right and left to loosen the clothes from the sides...they come out of the washer fluffed and easy to keep wrinkle-free.
I haven't found anything yet that I don't like about this washer....I am a hard person to please and I am tickled pink with this! :)

I have had this washer for almost a year and a half and i'm completely in love with it. The capacity is absolutely amazing. You can pack it to the brim and it will clean everything thoroughly. I don't even pretreat stains anymore. The matching dryer is equally amazing as it will dry everything perfectly in no time. We bought the set knowing we would have to stack them (yes they are stackable if you buy the stacking kit) and we got the pedestals for free but we unfortunately had to store those under a bed until we moved. The high spin barely makes any noise and it does NOT walk across the floor like some of the other brands. The vibration reduction system works beautifully. In fact, when the spin cycle just starts you can see a little wiggle if you watch it but then it smooths out and your clothes come out with practically no water in them. I also absolutely love the silver care feature. This allows me to sanitize the washcloths that i use on my face without using a whole tank of hot water. It simply passes the water over silver plates to clean out the bacteria. I also love the delay start feature. If i don't want to wait up on a load to put it in the dryer i can just set it so that it will go off a couple hours before i wake up. That way the clothes don't set in the washer wet all night and smell musty in the morning.
I can't say enough good things about this washer. In fact, if my washer broke today i would buy it all over again. I've enjoyed using it so much.

We purchased the matching dryer to go with this washer and they are fantastic! They are quiet, fast, and energy efficient. We purchased the drawer bases which give you more storage and raise the machines up waist level so you don't have to bend down when loading and unloading.
The only issue we had was with the brass "Y" included with the steam dryer for the cold water faucet. It leaked, but Samsung sent a replacement the next day!
We gave away an 8 year old set of Maytags that worked, but were both noisy...good ridence! These are so quiet and do a better job cleaning and drying our clothes than any set we have owned before. We have had GE, Kenmore, and Maytag. All good products, but these Samsung products are so far superior, it isn't even funny!
And don't let the "NASA" designed controls fool you, they are very easy to use with preprogrammed settings (e.g. whites, towels, perm press, etc.). And the steam in both the washer and dryer allow you to remove wrinkles and sanitize your clothes. This washer also has the ability to remove 99% of bacteria in cold water using silver ions.
Don't let our 5 star rating and the other person's 1 star rating make up your mind. We researched Consumer Reports and other web sites and read lots of consumer opinions before making our decision. Plus you get an energy credit on your taxes for purchasing these Samsung products!
One recommendation, purchase the extended warranty as these are high tech with digital controls. Ours are protected for 5 years along with a "lemon" warranty. If the other consumer who gave 1 star had purchased this, they could have already replaced the defective unit or got their money back. Although we are suspicious seeing that Samsung give a 1 year warranty and they claim they can't get Samsung to do anything about their washer...so do your research before writing off this product. We highly recommend this washer although it was the most expensive one we researched...worth every dollar!

After owning this product for six months, it started making very loud noises. We only use the machine two to three times a week.
The noises that we hear vary from loud knocking noise, ending with someone falling flat on their face, or sometimes it high pitched noise, or a weird squeak. Sometimes buzzes like a huge AC Condenser. Obviously there is something wrong with it..
I actually tried to lift the machine to look underneath to make sure nothing was sticking out and scratching the floor.. It still washes fine, we don't get our clothes that dirty to be able to tell if it gets the stains out, but they seem clean enough. I have not noticed any gasket problems so far, thank god, and no leaks. It is also not moving/walking around since it has the dryer on top of it. It is not the quietest machine we have owned, but it is not that loud (when it doesn't make the noise) either. It spins very fast and dries the clothes enough that you can just hang them to dry.
We have requested a service call for the terrible noise, and I will come back and reply with the result.
I have a video of the loud noise somewhere, and will be posting a link to it here later on.
PS: One day it just turned on by itself in the middle of the night. It did not star running, but it just Beeped and the lights came on. Scared us really bad...

After our cheap-o washing machine and dryer broke down, we decided to make a Black Friday purchase and get both the dryer and washing machines from Best Buy. My husband and I researched the heck out of what was available on the market. We compared features, cleaning options, and prices. I came across one site that had over 1700 reviews for this machine alone - the average review was a 5 out of 5.
I could not be happier with the products. While it is true the washing cycle takes longer than a top load washer, the end result is amazingly different. The matching dryer seems to work more efficiently than our old one and makes up for the time difference between loads. My toddlers socks came out white and the dirt stains gone. Even some of the old stains were removed. There are a lot of fancy dials and sounds on the machine however once you get accustomed to the settings, it is very easy to use. The pre-wash and steam features are a nice bonus. I especially like the top area to load the soap and fabric softner. The load capability seems quite large to me. Several pairs of jeans, pants and tops can go in at once. While running, the machine is fairly quiet. This is a beneficial feature since our laundry room is located in the center of our home. Is it wrong to fall in love with an appliance? If so, guilty as charged. Now if only they could automate the folding process I would be in heaven!!

Unlike the the first reviewer, the washer and matching Dryer were delivered in perfect condition. We have been using them now for several weeks and find them to be of high quality as one would expect from Whirlpool. Operation is flawless and are very Eco friendly, in that it uses far less water then our last front loader. The dryer also dries faster and the moisture sensors work perfectly and gives a complete drying cycle. Both are very quiet operators.
