Average Reviews:

I bought this dryer with the matching LG : WM2050CW 27in Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White washer (see my LG WM2050CW washer review). This is our first electric dryer from LG and we are happy to say that just like the matching pair of washing machine LG WM2050CW the DLE2050W 7.1 cu ft capacity electric Dryer is an excellent dryer appliance!
It is very easy to operate and has sensors (Sensor Dry System) and automatically adjusts the drying time for clothes which in my humble opinion eliminates the guess work one needs to do with respect to drying times for clothes. This saves a lot of money in electricity bills.
It has manual controls for timed drying cycles if you are not happy with the sensor based drying cycle. It boasts 5 Temperature Levels of High, Medium High, Medium, Low & Ultra Low and also another Wrinkle Care Cycle to Periodically tumble-dry clothes without heat to reduce wrinkles.
Product dimensions are (WxHxD) 27"x38 3/4"x30" (51" with door open) The machine is very well built and made in Korea and in my opinion should last many years!
PROS
[+] 7.1 Cu ft is large enough for most households
[+] Reasonably quick drying time (40-45 mins) for regular load of clothes
[+] Plethora of automated options for desired fabric care
[+] User friendly control panel which also has child lock
[+] Fairly large lint screen filter to capture lint.
[+] We like the musical jingle at the end of a cycle rather than a loud buzzer!
CONS
[-] Needs 3-wire (30AMP) 220V AC power cord to be purchased extra
[-] Needs a semi-rigid dryer duct to be purchased extra depending on installation location
[-] Does not include stand for drying shoes
Make sure that you level the Dryer properly for optimal operation, the included feet leveling screws may need tweaking to match the washing machine's height level.
If you have already bought the excellent energy saving washing machine model LG : WM2050CW 27in Front Load Washer, 4.0 cu. ft. Capacity - White add this to complete your laundry pair - Highly recommended!

The Snapper 29" is about the same size machine as my 1999 Noma 10hp 27" but touts 14.5 torque as opposed to hp. I bought it for the remote chute controls and hopefully added power. Upon first inspection I'd say the chute up and down motor is an afterthought. The wiring is amateur and the drive gear/motor is an exposed plastic screw drive. I'm going to have to rig a cover and wire guard. The chute rotate is well assembled and protected. The machines locking handles are a 1/3 shorter than my Noma thus indicating more grip fatigue to keep them down. The intake height of the Snapper is only 19.5 inches, a little short. The machine started right up and after the first snow I'll report back on how well it worked.

Noisy, yes, but that's ice it's crushing. My wife loves crushed ice. We've gone through a lot of manual and electric ice crushers over the years. This baby crushes the ice and it does it time after time. Ours has lasted 3 years. I'm buying another for my daughter and her kids for this summer. Glad Amazon had the product.

Greenworks 27022 14-Inch 10 Amp Electric Dethatcher With 3 Position Depth Setting Review

Greenworks 27022 14-Inch 10 Amp Electric Dethatcher With 3 Position Depth Setting
Average Reviews:

Why I bought it followed by how it worked for me.
If you don't want to read on, here is what I have to say. I abused it on a very tough 5000 square foot St. Augustine lawn, that was somewhat damp at the time, and it did great. I was shocked at how well it did. I was expecting it to fail based on reviews of other similar de-thatchers. WHY I BOUGHT IT:
My lawn is St. Augustine and requires a special de-thatching machine/process/tools so as not to kill the lawn.
A rental ( vertical mower with tines spaced 2"-3" apart ) was not available in my area nor do landscapers have these on hand. Rentals cost [...]. Two healthy adults using modified de-thatching rakes with some tines removed could only cover 300-400 square feet in an hour and the results weren't great.
I was skeptical in this purchase, but also tired and desperate, so for [...] with free shipping I decided to take a chance.
It appears the Craftsman model is more expensive and has complaints about its motor failing. The craftsman reportedly uses a 10amp motor as does this unit. I was worried that this unit might be under powered.
My lawn was green and growing like mad for two years prior - the envy of all the neighbors. I wasn't shy using fertilizer. I had to mow every 5th day. Last summer, I couldn't find a way to keep the lawn alive. Fertilizer didn't really help. Watering as recommended didn't help. Insects invaded despite my use of pesticides that had worked in years prior. It wasn't long before large areas of dead grass formed and mushrooms popped up all over. My lawn was also very spongy to walk on. You can only cut St. Augustine so short before killing it, so I was hesitant to cut it below 2".
I finally determined that my problem was with excessive thatch - a problem I probably created by over fertilizing and not bagging the grass clippings. Thatch can stop water as well as fertilizer and pesticides from getting down where it needs to, and provides a great environment for fungus and insects.
HOW IT WORKED:
I'll be frank. When I un-boxed it and took a look at the tines on the roller, it appeared so cheap I felt I would be making a mistake if I didn't return it right away. They don't picture the bottom of the unit or the tines. Had they, I probably wouldn't have bought it. It just doesn't look like it has a chance of getting the job done. The roller resembles a large vacuum brush roller, and is driven by a cogged belt attached to the motor. The tines are thin and short. These look like super heavy duty paper clips.
When put to use, It removed a lot more thatch, more thoroughly, in less than 5 minutes, without breaking a sweat, than 2 physically fit adults with rakes spent an hour trying to de-thatch. And, the grass and thatch were damp at the time I used this unit.
Someone posted a video online of a similar de-thatcher (possibly the Craftsman) in use, with tons of thatch being left behind as the unit moves forward. That is exactly how well it worked for me.
If you don't use an adequately sized extension cord, (or plug it into an outlet than can actually deliver the 15 amps it should be rated for) you may end up overheating the motor from low voltage issues and damaging it. I used a 100 foot, 14 gauge cord plugged into a 20 amp GFCI outside outlet and had no problems. The motor never hinted at bogging down.
I started out with the thatcher in its highest setting as per the instructions, but found it did a better job for me on its lowest setting. I think the difference between high and low is less than ½ an inch. You wouldn't think it would make a difference, but it did.
I began by de-thatching 300 square foot sections at a time, stopped to rake it all up and bag it. At the end, I just ran this over the remaining 3000 square feet of lawn non stop - about 20 minutes time - and the thatcher had no issues keeping up.
The spinning tines are all that propel this forward and it takes little effort to control the pace, but if you intentionally go slow, be prepared to see it remove a lot of grass - probably more than you want. This works fast.
It isn't recommended that you pull this backwards while using it - one reason being that it is hard on the tines. I did this regularly as it just made it easier to maneuver and helped kick out any excessive thatch built up under it or around the wheels that it didn't discharge on its own. I frequently ran this over a pile of grass I already de-thatched as I maneuvered it around, and it just kept humming away.
The end result for me on my lawn: about 35 minutes of run time on the de-thatcher did a better job than two adults with rakes could have done in 14 hours. Thatching 5000 square feet of area left me with thirty, 33 gallon garbage bags full of all the crap it pulled up, the vast majority of which was dead grass and thatch and very little healthy green stuff.
I would expect this to make short work of any lawn not resembling the vine-like thickness of St. Augustine.
The pictures (if I can attach some later) show the modified hand rake used at first along with the underside of the power de-thatcher. Because St. Augustine is supposed to be de-thatched with a vertical mower with blades spaced 2"-3" apart so as to reduce the chances tearing up the vine-like structure of the grass and killing it, I removed every other set of tines on the roller to get the spacing I wanted. As the pictures show (hopefully), each set of tines is two wires sticking out from a single spring wound tine mount. Three of the sets each lost a single tine wire and I wouldn't be surprised if it was from my abuse. Since I removed some of them before I started, I have spares.
This saved so much manual labor, had it died on me after one round of de-thatching, I'd still buy another one when the time comes. And most importantly, the thatched areas have new grass popping up all over. This did the trick for me.
My only con, maybe the tines could be a thicker gauge.

Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric Sharpener Review

Wusthof Precision Edge Diamond Electric Sharpener
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this Wusthof Electric Knife Sharpener since I'm getting behind in keeping many of my kitchen knives sharp. I have used a GATCO 5pc Stone Sharpener Gatco Knife Sharpener for years to sharpen my kitchen knives since it uses a clamp on guide to sharpen any knife I own. However this electric sharpener is not as versatile as my Gatco or other electric ones that tell you they will handle Asian knives or boning knives that should be sharpened at a 15° angle. And you can't use the Wusthof for serrated knives. But for sharpening to a 19 to 20° angle for European or American chefs' knives, this Wusthof will handle it (and well). I wonder how much more it would have cost Wusthof to place another set of grinding wheels for a 15° angle? The help line at Wusthof tells me while I cannot use the sharpener on my Santuku knives I can use it on boning knives? Well, I don't buy that advice.
I like the fact that I run each knife between the slots between the two wheels. First the coarse wheel slot then the fine slot. Done. Next knife. Easy. But I have a tendency to pull the knife through the slot a bit too fast and the knife skips on the wheel just a bit. I guess the reason why I can't easily sharpen knives other ways is that by the time I sharpen one edge the other edge develops burrs. Sharpening both sides at the same time seems to be the easier way to get a sharp knife. I agonized just a bit over whether a hollow ground sharpened blade edge while sharper will lead me to keep sharpening or tuning the knife because others say that this type of edge tends to be weaker than a traditional edge (as the argument goes). So far, I have not found that to be the case.PROS:
Puts a hollow ground edge that is sharper than a traditional straight edge.
The Wusthof electric sharpener leaves a very sharp and very smooth edge on my knife, even smoother than with the sharpening stones of my Gatco.
I can sharpen or tune up my knife drawer full of knives in short time.
CONS:
Cannot use it to sharpen serrated, Asian (Santuku, Chinese Chef Knife), and I would add boning knives.
Tends not to sharpen about a quarter inch close to the heel of some knifes because of the design and placement of the interlocking wheels. But will you or I notice this when we use the knife? So far, I have not noticed it.

Weed Eater RTE115C 15-Inch 4.5 Amp Twist-N-Edge Electric String Trimmer Review

Weed Eater RTE115C 15-Inch 4.5 Amp Twist-N-Edge Electric String Trimmer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this weed eater a few months back. It is very powerful for an electric, so that is a positive. The worst part (at least for me) has been the mechanism which delivers more string when needed. The other negative is the "trimmer guard" which you attach when you are assembling it. (Not the big plastic shield that prevents grass from flying everywhere, but the little metal piece that goes right in front of the spinning head.) It's very difficult to get that off after you've assembled it, so I recommend you leave it off completely. In my case I couldn't get it off, so I took some tin snips to it and cut it off. It serves no purpose.
The main problem with the feeder mechanism is that I almost always found myself with about 1-2 inches of string coming out of the head. This was so frustrating I wanted to literally throw the weed eater off a cliff. I was almost to the point where I was never going to use it again. That's when I tried some different string. I went to Lowes and purchased Heavy Duty 2mm (.080") titanium trimmer line. Thank the Lord that solved my problem! This weed eater is now an unstoppable CUTTING MACHINE and I love it. I would give this product 5 stars if it came with this string. But because it gave me so many problems before cutting off the guard and switching the string, it gets a 3.
I recommend this product only if you're going to purchase the new string with it. If you want to use it as is, right out of the box, I would pass. Thanks for reading.

Cole and Mason Manhattan Electric Salt and Pepper Mill, Stainless Steel Review

This thing is AWESOME!!! Granted, this is the first one of these that I have owned, but compared to the twisty hand kind, this is like dying and going to heaven. The feel is very solid and heavy, and the motor mechanism is not too loud, nor does it bog down under a "full load" of pepper, if there is such a thing.
The thing that impresses me the most about this unit is the quality of the grind: very precise, even, and uniform. I am used to my pepper mill letting all different sizes through at once, and having chunks of pepper get stuck in my teeth, while much of the rest is quite powdery. Such is NOT the case with this unit: it cuts the pepper VERY uniformly.

Snow Joe Ultra 622U1 19-Inch 13-Amp Electric Snow Thrower Review

Snow Joe Ultra 622U1 19-Inch 13-Amp Electric Snow Thrower
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been an owner of three different gas snowblowers. Each worked in its own way, from the MTD two-stage to my personal favorite, the Craftsman one-stage.
Many people see one-stage snow throwers as junk, and I'll agree they have their limitations in heavy or wet snow. But if you get out there right when the snow falls and clear it before it hits ten inches, you'll have a fine time with this little wonder.
It does as good a job at snow removal as my Craftsman single did--the two-stage may be a bit more versatile but it's like handling a rototiller and you have to have a place to store it. This baby hangs on a pair of wall hooks in the garage, with the cord hanging next to it.
I was amazed at how well this little "off brand" thrower does its work. I got it to test the proposition that 99% of snow removal can be done with a little tool like this. But it bore me out last year. Neighbor has an Ariens that cost him almost $1400. When he saw my little blower he offered to clear my driveway for me.
After clearing my (two-car with turnout space) driveway and hanging up the machine and cord back in the garage, I looked next door. He was still trying to get the beast started.
UPDATE MARCH 2010:
Well, I had almost three seasons with Snow Joe, but he couldn't handle the double whammy snowstorms of February--gave up the ghost. So I bought the Toro version of the same thing. It handles very similarly to the Snow Joe, but the impeller and chute design is better. I wish the chute crank were easier to reach (liked that about the SJ) but the Toro gets more snow faster than the SJ.
I was very close to buying one of Toro's gas Power Curve models, but went with another electric. When the second snowstorm hit, this Toro went through it like butter. I made sure to get out there and clear the first batch before it hit ten inches. Second batch was actually deeper at probably about ten inches, and it was just as easy. The Toro took full-width bites out of the first pass. The deeper pass required me to bump it out 4 inches or so to account for the higher snow volume.
But it chewed through it like a champ. I continue to recommend electric snowblowers to homeowners who don't face a huge amount of snow in the winter and don't have more than a hundred feet between their outlet and the street. My 100-foot cord hits the end just as I get to the street. If my driveway were a foot longer I'd have to go with a longer cord.
But I am switching my recommendation from Snow Joe to Toro. The Toro throws better, stays clearer, is better put together, and is quieter than the Snow Joe, especially under load.
Spend the extra and get the Toro. You won't be sorry.

Just ordered two for my classroom. I took them home this week end to trial them, and they work really well! Just plug it in, wait for the hot plate to get hot, add batter and spread with the spreader. It may be awkward at first, but as you keep trying, you'll get the hang of it. Crepes are thin or thick, according to recipe or how you like them. It just keeps them coming. I made some ham/cheese cream ones, and hot nutella ones. Amazing.
At that price, I am very glad I got a couple. I have French classes of 10-25 students, and it will be greatly interactive to make their own. I would recommend it to anyone who wants an easy to use machine, that can be very convivial. It makes big crepes, and you'll want to be careful with little hands if they can reach the preparation area.
Also, just like the pic shows, there is a lip around the edge, so if you're looking for a "real one", read expensive, professional one, that one won't do. Also, I bought a Berard 20275 French Olive-Wood Handcrafted Pancake Spatulato go with it, and I would highly recommend something of the sort to go with it. It makes the flipping way easier. This particular one worked wonder. Insertion of the spatula isn't too hard, even with the lip.
Just one little drawback: the cord is fairly short. Happy eating!

Chef's Choice 630 International Gourmet Electric Food Slicer Review

Chef's Choice 630 International Gourmet Electric Food Slicer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I used to work in a deli and have used my fair share of commercial slicers. When I decided to buy one for home use, I knew that I didn't want one of the large, cumbersome slicers that I had used in the past, and that this would mean some tradeoffs in terms of power and quality. After taking a long look around, I finally decided on the CC-630, and I'm glad I did. I believe this unit offers an excellent compromise between commercial power and everyday practicality.
Please don't misunderstand... you don't want this slicer if you're looking to open a deli or restaurant. You can feel the slicer slow down as it cuts through denser foods (like meat and cheese) that the commercial slicers would just pass right through.
This little unit is best suited to the home user who wants to be able to cut enough cold cuts for a day's use - say packing lunches for the family. It's also great for slicing up roasts, BONELESS turkey/chicken, cheeses, and vegetables. Whatever you slice, slice only what you will consume immediately - or at least in the next day or so. That's the secret to those deli sandwiches... cut everything fresh for the best flavor.
Of surprise to me was how well this unit handles bread. It needs to be a fairly flexible bread (no cornbread/biscuits) as it has to bend slightly to accomodate the shape of the slicer. If you make your own bread, you can now slice it perfectly at nearly any thickness.
Just be sure to let anything that you make yourself cool completely before slicing. A warm roast or turkey breast just isn't rigid enough to hold itself together against the moving blade. If you're looking to use this for your thanksgiving dinner then you'd be better off investing in a good sharp carving set (not the serrated kind, but the kind you can resharpen). For thanksgiving leftovers, the slicer is ideal. Just don't do anything silly like trying to cut through bones as they can get caught in the moving blade... a serious safety hazard.
Why only 4 stars? Well, this unit would rate 5 in my opinion if not for two issues. First, a safety concern: the unit has seperate on/off and thickness controls. So what? Well, that means that you can turn the unit off and still leave the blade in an exposed cutting position (and at thinner settings, this is almost imperceptable visually). This can lead to serious injury should someone try to clean the unit thinking that the blade is safely shielded. Not a good idea if you have children around, or even if you don't. A simple solution is just to get in the habit of turning the thickness to zero immediately before or after turning the slicer off.
My other issue is that the manual says that no part of the slicer is dishwasher safe. This is extremely annoying as there are several removable non-electronic parts that are difficult to clean by hand. It seems absurd that the heavy duty plastic and stainless steel that these parts are made of would not hold up to a household dishwasher.
Overall, I find this to be an excellent slicer and highly recommend for home use. Much better than the cheaper underpowered models that are nearly impossible to clean properly.

FAIP Powerwasher PWS1800-U 1,800 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure Washer Review

FAIP Powerwasher PWS1800-U 1,800 psi 1.6 gpm Electric Pressure Washer

I bought this for my husband early April 2008, after reading reviews online. And we are VERY HAPPY with it. He pressure washed all our fences before we stained them, then washed a patio, a driveway, our pool filters numerous times, the siding on our house, etc. and he loves it. The pressure is very good, he's happy with the level of pressure he gets on the adjustable nozzle (some cheap models lose decent pressure if you choose a wider spray), and he liked that he could roll up the hose on the back of the unit when he was done, and I was extremely happy with the price.

McCulloch MCS2001 14 amp Electric Chipper/Shredder Review

McCulloch MCS2001 14 amp Electric Chipper/Shredder
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Summary:
Works well for my purposes, which include a lot of twigs, leaves, brush, and ½" to ¾" sticks. The mulch produced is much finer than I expected, and is really smaller than your typical double-shredded commercial mulch. Assembly took 1½ hours, and was pretty straightforward, but no thanks to the instructions supplied with the unit. For the price, this is a very good unit.
Shipment:
Unit came 2 days after I ordered. Surprised at the speed for free shipping, but I noticed Amazon used 2nd day UPS air. I don't know if this was expedited shipping because of the nearness of Xmas, but I was very pleased with the timeliness.
Assembly:
Instructions that came with the unit were very sparse and provided very limited illustrations and narrative to help the consumer. A clear and detailed picture or diagram would help a lot.
However, after staring at the photo on the box, and looking at the various parts that came in the box, assembly was simple enough for my son and I (you really need 2 people). Thinking back on it, here is the sequence that should be followed (little of this is in the instruction manual):
1. First start with the leg, axle, and wheel assembly. Look at the axle, and you will see two hex bolts with no apparent purpose screwed into the axle: one at each end. These are adjustment blanks that should be moved in order to properly align the leg, axle, and wheel assembly to accept the body of the shredder. You will notice an empty threaded hole immediately adjacent to these hex bolts, each a bit closer to the ends of the axle. Unscrew the hex bolts using the provided hex-key and move them to the adjacent holes that are closer to the end of the axle.
2. Place one wheel on the axle and secure with the supplied large flat washer followed by a cotter pin. Bend the end of the cotter pin around the axle end to secure the wheel. Do not put the other wheel on the axle yet, and don't put on the McCulloch wheel covers on either wheel yet.
3. Thread the end of the axle through the opening on one leg (it doesn't matter which one - they are symmetrical), and then use the supplied long hex bolt, lock washer and flat washer to loosely secure (hand tighten) the part of the axle closest to the attached wheel against one leg. The lock washer should be placed on the bolt first (closest to the bolt head) followed by the flat washer, then thread the bolt through the outer curved part of the leg into the threaded hole in the axle which is closest to the wheel that you put on in step 2.
4. Take the other leg and attach it to the other end of the axle using the remaining long hex bolt, lock washer, and flat washer -- hand tighten.
5. Take the remaining wheel and secure it on the remaining axle end with the supplied large flat washer followed by a cotter pin. Do not put either wheel cover on until the end (just in case you did something wrong or you aren't quite satisfied with the alignment).
6. Insert the solid aluminum barrels (each with two smooth-bore holes) into the end of the leg, axle, and wheel assembly that will mate with the shredder body. Line up the barrel holes with the leg holes. This provides strength at the connection point to the body. Put the leg, axle, and wheel assembly aside for the moment.
7. Now let's work on the body. Using two persons to lift, stand the shredder body up on the flat pieces of cardboard supplied in the box. Unscrew the three black plastic-knobbed hand bolts that retain the yellow metal hood onto the black shredder assembly. Remove the yellow metal hood and put it aside. You have now exposed the heads of the four hex bolts used to secure the shredder body to the leg, axle, and wheel assembly.
8. Using the stronger person to lift, place the black shredder assembly over the leg/axle/wheel assembly, and line up the two holes on either leg (four holes total), with the four hex bolts on the black shredder assembly. Have your partner guide the bolts through the holes. From the underside, secure the bolts using the supplied flat washers, followed by lock washers, followed by nuts -- hand tighten. Don't put the hood back on yet.
9. Eyeball the entire assembly to see that is aligned vertically and horizontally. Since you only hand-tightened the axle-leg and leg-body hex bolts, it is now pretty easy to adjust the alignment by simply moving the body relative to the legs, or moving the legs relative to the axle. Don't worry, the set-up is pretty sturdy, it would be difficult to harm anything by pushing or pulling to gain proper alignment.
10. Once you are satisfied with the alignment, tighten the two leg-axle hex bolts and four leg-body bolts using the supplied hex wrench. Use rotation tightening like you would when working on your car. Half tighten bolts on opposite ends, then ¾ tighten, and then full tighten.
11. Snap on the McCulloch wheel covers on the wheels.
12. Place the yellow metal hood back on top, and tighten the black plastic-knobbed hand bolts.
13. Place the black plastic leaf and twig receiving chute on top of the yellow metal hood, and line up the five small bolt holes. The ribbed side of the receiving chute should be facing toward the wheels. Insert and tighten the five bolts to secure the chute.
14. Turn off the switch before you plug in the shredder.
Operation:
1. For brush and sticks under ¾" this unit rocks! I am quite pleased how quickly this shredder takes the little stuff and spits out very finely shredded mulch.
2. For brush and sticks 1" to 1½" - be careful! It is very easy to jam this unit by feeding big twigs too quickly. After jamming the unit, you need to turn it off, unplug it, remove the yellow metal hood by undoing the three black plastic-knobbed hand bolts, and then clearing the debris from the cutting blades or the large stick feeding tube on the yellow hood. I have found that the best approach is to feed twigs of this size using a feed a little, pause a little, feed a little, pause a little approach. You can actually do this pretty quickly once you get used to what the machine can handle as far as pace.
3. Leaves mixed with sticks seem to shred finer than leaves by themselves through the top chute.
4. Twigs by themselves, regardless of size, are consumed most quickly through the side feeder tube versus the top chute.

I have only owned this pressure washer for 48 hrs. but I have had it working hard and it hasn't let me down! I'm a painting contractor and I have a bigger gas powered hydroblaster but I wanted something to use while my partner was blasting the heavier stuff like deck floors. I figured I could just clean rails and pickets. This machine does a fine job on them and more, it surprisingly tackles even the heavier work, but... and this is the part I love...it doesn't gouge the wood as easily as the bigger units. It is easy to operate, light weight, well designed. It comes with two wands, an adjustable fan spray and a turbo nozzle....the turbo is my favorite....aggressive cleaning without gouging. The fan spray is a twist adjustment...no stopping to change tips. I've owned Karcher's and they were ok but didn't last long. This is a better unit and if it keeps on running it will be worth every penny. If it dies I'll be back to amend this review.

Black & Decker ST1000 9-Inch 1.8 amp Electric Grass Trimmer Review

Black and Decker ST1000 9-Inch 1.8 amp Electric Grass Trimmer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This small, light weight trimming/edging tool cuts in 9-inch swathes at a time. Because of its size, it is more controllable than the larger (12" - 14") trimmers.
The larger, more powerful trimmers are not suitable for many lawns. I took back one because of its imprecise cutting. The powerful motor resulted in the shredding of a wood edging that separates the lawn from an adjacent mulched area.
One problem with all trimmers is that there is nothing to catch the flying bits of lawn. The only thing that might help in the future is to lay a sheet over the mulched area adjacent to the lawn to catch the cuttings, and move the sheet as I go along. Perhaps this should come with a sheet? Again, the smaller, less powerful machine's precision reduces excess trimmings. This is also a less noisy machine and is easier to store than the more powerful trimmers.
Features include a trimming option so that you can trim lawn under protruding bushes or around rocks, etc. There's also a locking feature for the electric cord. YOu do need to occasionally "bump" the machine (literally lighting hitting it against the lawn) to advance the cutting wire, this takes a little practice to get right. However, the learning curve is fast, after a few outings I thought this was a fairly useful machine.
Update:
I now would not recommend this unless one has previous satisfied experience with it, or something very similar. The main problem is the weight of the cutting assembly at the end of a long "pole." The physics are simply against the user.
Add to that the need to recharge and replace the cutting wire, and, for ME, the disadvantages outweigh the benefits highlighted in the original review.

If you're in the market for a basic, entry-level electric trimmer to handle light trimming work around your house, the Black and Decker 9-inch grass trimmer might be worth considering. While certainly not as powerful or feature-laden as more costly models, this trimmer can handle much of the light-duty work many homeowners need. The trimmer weighs just 3.2 pounds and requires little assembly with just 2 steps. It operates off a reliable, 1.8-amp HP motor, which spins the line at 11,000 rpm. This grass trimmer features a basic bump feed line system, a generous nine-inch cutting path, and a secondary assist handle for added comfort and control. It comes with 20 feet of .065-diameter line, and spool replacement is fairly simple. One thing I found especially handy with this particular trimmer was its unique cord lock system, which holds the extension cord firmly in place while the trimmer is in use. As someone who has accidentally unplugged a trimmer halfway through a job on more than one occasion, this indeed a handy feature to have. This product is backed by a 2-year full warranty. --Carl Thress

iTouchless Automatic Stainless Steel Pepper Mill and Salt Grinder (2 Pack) Review

April 2008....I have since received a replacement set of these and I really like them. The first set was a disaster (manufacture said a bad batch got shipped to Amazon). I have had these 6 months and had no trouble. I would reccommend.
................Sept 2007..................Within the first week a plastic piece broke and the first unit wouldn't work. Because it's time consuming to send back, I decided to use the second one instead of sending back. 5 weeks after receipt the second mill is broken. Every time you push the button to grind the bottom of the unit pops off. Amazon Customer Service referred me to the owners manual...which doesn't exist and told me to contact manufacturer. Contacting Itouchless web site resulted in them willing to send a replacement set if I pay $9.95 for shipping. Why would I replace a product that is either engineered or manufactured to fail?
It took time and persistance, but Amazon Customer service came through and they agreed to accept the defective products and issue a refund when they receive them. itouchless admitted to a manufacturing error is willing to replace at no charge.
