I fill this with milk to just below the inside of the spout, stick the starbucks thermometer on the lip(the one that has a plastic coated top that is color coded for the temperature) and steam the milk. You can see the swirling action as the foam rises to the top of the pitcher with beautiful micro bubbles. I use this every day. It is perfect!

The DVD gives a short slideshow presentation on how to froth milk followed by three examples of shape making. The rest? Sales: rants and raves about the wonderfull Seatle Barista accademy, trying to get you to come there so you can pay MORE money to really learn anything.
I can understand the concept of a small sample DVD as an advertisement (if they were maybe giving it away) and in that case OK, don't go giving away all your secrets, but I paid $20 for this thing. For that same price I've currently got a Bread making DVD on here that lasts over 40 minutes and shows start to finish how to make everything from Baguettes to Cinnamon rolls. I got sold a digital Flyer.

Frieling Creamer/Frothing Pitcher Review

(More customer reviews)I will be the first to admit that I was highly attracted to the physical design of this pitcher. On that account, it holds up. This is a beautifully made piece of kitchen gear, with a nice mirrored finish on the outside, made from heavy gauge steel, and a nice, solid-feeling (I guess it could be solid) handle.
Where this item falls short for me is in its small volume as a frothing pitcher. I will also be the first to admit that this is an error on my part, but a 10 ounce pitcher sounded like more than enough for my needs. The problem is, the expansion of the milk as you foam it means you'll be overfilling this pitcher like a Homer Simpson beer.
This was my first frothing pitcher. Three weeks later, I went and bought a 24 ounce pitcher at a local kitchen supply store. If you only want to foam 2-3 ounces of milk at a a time, this is the pitcher for you. If you have dreams of large, creamy lattes (especially if you have dreams of more than one of them), this may not be the item for you.

(More customer reviews)I have owned this product now for about 4 months and it has been a great help to me in frothing milk for cappuccinos and lattes. I am a fairly serious cappucino junkie, Expobar machine, Mazzer mini grinder.
This product works best on my 20oz frothing pitcher, which I use most to prepare coffee drinks for 2-3 people. The clip holds well and it can be used unattended during the start of the steam process.
But, when I try to use it on my 12oz pitcher, it does not attach well because of the large clip on this thermometer. So it is less useful on this size.
In all, I love the analog display and the color coded areas. It very quickly gives you an assessment of how close you are to frothing (+140) temperature without having to read the display too closely.
Not perfect, but a good product.

(More customer reviews)Not a bad thermometer for making the perfect froth for your cappucino. Pluses: Temp range for perfect milk temperature highlighted (140-160 deg. F), reasonably priced. Minuses: It should include a plastic protector tube (to prevent inadvertant stabbings...), and it would be nice if the temp gauge went down to 80 degrees. To get a good froth, try dancing the steam wand at the top of the milk until the temp reaches 100 deg.F. As the foam rises, follow it up. At 100 deg.F, push the wand down into the milk until the temp reaches 140-160 deg.F. Have fun!

Recently, when I went to a nearby mall, I discovered a very similar design 20oz froth pitcher for less money. It is probably a little expensive, but if you can find it cheaper, this is an excellent product.

(More customer reviews)In case you're wondering what size to get for a home espresso machine like I was, this is the one!
Any smaller (for example, the 12oz or 16oz) and it won't fit much milk and you'll have to be lucky and skillful to keep it in the pitcher; any bigger (32oz+) and it probably won't fit under your steam wand easily, and you'll have a very hard time steaming only smaller amounts of milk because of the distance from the top to bottom of the pitcher.
This size, on the other hand, is PERFECT - small enough that you can do a one cup latte/cappuccino, but big enough to do two or three. Plus, it's very well made stainless-steel that is very sturdy and will last a long time, no problems there.
So if you've got a home espresso machine, like the DeLonghi or Barilla or Saeco/Starbucks (mine!) then this is what you want.

The previous reviewer commented on its handle but my medium sized hands fit the handle adequately without the need to come into contact with the pitcher. Otherwise, don't fill it to the rim with hot milk.
I pour latte art on my drinks and this pitcher has a nice sharp spout which allows the flow of milk to be easily controlled at the spout.
You can easily steam enough milk in this pitcher for 2 typical 5oz cappuccinos without spilling the milk in the steaming process. Recommended!
