FEIYUE YAMATA Family Press FP202L 1600 Watt 32" x 10" Fabric Steam Press Review

FEIYUE YAMATA Family Press FP202L 1600 Watt 32 x 10 Fabric Steam Press

I purchased the 32" model, after reading reviews that complaint about the small steam area in some other models. After using this steam press for 4 loads of mixed family laundry I am truly impressed. At first, I had to get used to placing the items on the press correctly, but once I learned how, my husband's pants took only 4 presses to get professional looking results. The secret to cutting the number of presses on thick clothing down is to use the water bottle in addition to the steam from the press. On my children's clothes, 2 presses on one side of the fabric is all that is required. I love this machine, and my husband was sceptical at first for spending over $200, but after he saw his pants and shirts neatly pressed, he agreed that it was a purchase worth while.

I really don't like to iron. And I hate appliances/tools in which the cord is always in the way or catching on things. I've gone to great lengths to get cordless everything. I've used 5 or 6 irons in my day, some old, some new, all with cords. I had a nice corded iron that worked well, but fell apart. I've never been enamored with the steam function of any iron I've owned.
Received this iron as a gift from my wife who was tired of me wearing wrinkled clothes. Perfect timing as I had left a load of shirts and slacks in the dryer too long, and I was moping because they were all severely wrinkled, and had been sitting in a laundry basket for a month. Filled the iron with water, plugged it in, set the temp to HIGH, and 2 minutes or so later was ready to go.
It worked great. Very smooth ironing surface and wonderful steam sytem. I set the steam to maximum, and it worked very well. Same with MEDIUM setting on my poly blends; worked great. I accidently ironed a heavy silk shirt on MEDIUM, and no problems, scorches or blemmishes.
And no problem with the iron cooling between visits to the base, which I set on a table behind and right of me, in easy reach. It seemed to take about 15 seconds on the base to fully reheat, based on a slight click that I think was the thermostat shutting the coils off. I tried to measure the cooling over 2 minutes while on HIGH, but the iron was too hot for my BBQ fork to measure, even after 5 minutes off the base; the iron was still producing steam too. That seems hot to me.
But the best thing: no cord. Nothing to catch on things, nothing in the way of where I want to iron, nothing to constantly move. If you don't mind cords, by all means, buy a corded iron. If you don't like them, I'd recommend this iron. I now dislike ironing a little less.

With its sleek cordless design, this 1500-watt steam iron offers exceptional maneuverability--no more having to deal with the cord getting tangled in a shirt sleeve or caught on the end of the ironing board. The unit comes equipped with a stainless-steel soleplate for smooth gliding across a variety of fabrics, and its 5-1/8-ounce water tank detaches with the push of a button for easy filling at the sink. Set the temperature anywhere from 248 to 410 degrees F, depending upon the task at hand. It will accurately maintain the desired heat, and shows the temperature setting with helpful indicator lights. In addition, the unit's powerful burst-of-steam option helps remove stubborn wrinkles when ironing, plus cleans the steam vents on the soleplate after ironing. The iron also provides a charging base with an automatic retractable cord reel. When finished, push the button to retract the cord reel into the charging base for tidy storage. Other highlights include a push-button steam/dry selector, vertical steam, spray mist, and three-way automatic shut-off for safety. A heat-resistant transparent carrying case, which can be attached immediately after use, comes included for extra portability and easy storage. The iron measures approximately 10 by 4 by 5 inches, and the storage case measures 11-15/16 by 7 by 9-5/16 inches.

Reliable V95 Digital Velocity 1500-Watt Steam Iron Review

Reliable V95 Digital Velocity 1500-Watt Steam Iron
Average Reviews:

Back in July, I purchased this iron as my latest, expensive Rowenta iron started leaking like a sieve (at just over 1 year old). This iron is fantastic! From the first time I used it, it has been great.
The Reliable iron has a separate chamber and heat source for the water that generates the steam. This means that steam is available at a lower heat setting than usual. Also, the steam is consistent - no spitting, leaking or dribbling. The steam can be used with the iron in a vertical position (for steam-pressing a garment). The iron has two steam settings. The higher steam setting puts forth a tremendous amount of steam - just like a steam generator iron but without having a separate water tank to deal with.
The manufacturer does recommend using distilled water (really the only downside). The iron has removable/replaceable filters to extend the life of the iron by filtering out the mineral deposits that can prematurely gunk up an iron.
All in all, this is one terrific iron. I highly recommend it to anyone, especially to anyone who does sewing/quilting. Fantastic iron!

Quickly remove wrinkles from clothing and other fabrics with this powerful 1500-watt steam iron. Unlike traditional irons that produce steam with the soleplate heat, the unit features an internal steam generator that not only produces more continuous steam (30g/minute) than conventional irons, but it also allows for adjusting the soleplate temperature to accommodate the fabric being pressed, which means lower temperatures can be used without the fear of water spitting. Even more, the iron's stainless-steel soleplate provides a uniform temperature and concentrated steam holes at the tip for quicker ironing, plus special grooves that help smooth and dry the garment. Its electronic control system includes an LCD panel that displays the temperature level selected, the amount of steam selected, an automatic shut-off indicator, a water-tank refilling indicator, and an anti-scale filter replacement indicator. For added convenience, the steam iron's acoustic warning device beeps when the desired temperature's been reached, the auto shut-off safety system becomes activated, and every time a selection button gets pressed. Other highlights include a 1-1/4-cup water capacity, an 8-1/5-foot cord, and an ergonomically designed handle to reduce hand and wrist stress. The steam iron measures 12 by 4-1/2 by 7 inches and carries a one-year warranty.

Rowenta Powerglide 2 Iron DX1700

Iron has worked okay for me, except for the power cord.
LESSON LEARNED. NEVER BUY AN IRON IF THE ELECTRIC CABLE IS NOT FIXED.
I don't know why I bought an iron with a moveable cord.
Thinking back now, I never saw a problem with a fixed cord.
Maybe just thought it was cool.
Like other products, engineers design something but don't think long-term.
For last couple months, this iron has been shorting out.
Moving the plug around temporarily resolved the problem.
Working less often, though.
I read on the internet about someone drilling out the difficult screw heads, and fixing the wiring.
Sorry, but I am not going to take it apart, fix it, and put it back together with tape.
IT IS GOING IN FILE 13. Ended up buying a Black and Decker like the other one I have.
Do traveling, so I need more than one iron.

I am a professional seamstress, handweaver and I iron fabric off and on all day, every day, five days a week.
I have bought many irons in my 30 years in business. And have paid large sums of money for some of them.
This iron is the best all around iron on the market today. I don't say that lightly either. It does pull more power with it's heavy duty electric cord, I expect my electric bill will go up slightly now that I use this exclusively on my fabrics..... But the finished product is so much nicer and I get the professional finish I want to have on my handwovens. The added cost is worth the finished product.

Tobi Steamer Review

I got my robi in the mail yesterday and decided to try it out on 3 pairs of dress shirts and slacks. It took me 30 minutes to get 1 of my shirts to the level of acceptable (but not iron quality). I understand that it will never be iron quality, but this product is a hazard.
*The stand is clumsy and un-balanced
*The steamer does not work on creased wrinkles
*The hose has to be completely uncoiled for the steam to come out
*The unit leaks if you open the water release valve for full steam
*The unit might-as-well not even have wheels on it, cause they don't help - I ended up just using the shoulder strap.
This product is a piece of you know what. I wouldn't have it any where near children or pets. I am sending it back today, but I do get to keep the travel steamer, which is good to have regardless of how fast it works. I hope Dyson finds a reason to engineer one of these.

To begin with, this product, does NOT unwrinkle dress shirts, so don't put away that iron just yet. Secondly, the foam ball inside that holds the water will eventually disintigrate with regular use so that the product doesn't work at all. I feel like I totally wasted my money on this! It also took over 4 weeks to receive the product from the manufacturer and then the shipping charges were almost as much as the product itself. In my opinion, the claims of this product are vastly over exaggerated and the fact that it's usefulness is diminished over a short period of time because of the inferior foam material inside the product makes Mister Steamy, a COMPLETE waste of money. I wouldn't recommend this product to ANYBODY.

Sunbeam Professional 4268 Iron Review

For the price ($30 at Costco) - a terrific iron.
Me ... single, professional, ironing challenged
Being single for 15 yrs, I get to do my own ironing (shirts & pants for the most part).
After my Black & Decker died after 30 years af faithful service, the hunt was on for a new iron.
I looked at the $7 iron at Walmart to the $150 steamer machine.
When I found the Sunbeam 4268 Professional Iron at Costco, I was turned off. I don't want to be a professional ironer. But by comparing price and fuction, and needing 1 immediately, I paid the $29.99.
At 1400 watts, vs 1200 watts ... I don't know the benefit ... but guys like power!
The larger ironing surface of the Sunbeam made ironing smooth and surprisingly faster. The digital electronic display with the material reference, made it simple to select the proper heat setting and know when it's ready. The "Shot of Steam" function, for those tough wrinkles, was made for me, because I batch process, so the clothes may sit in the basket a day, or week, or longer. And the "Verticle Steam" option lets you use the iron as a steamer.
The auto-off function adds some piece of mind ... the old iron didn't have that.
And Self Cleaning ... great ... call me when you have a self ironing model!
For the price vs. function this is a good value!

DeLonghi Stiromeglio Compact PRO 300 Ironing System with Pressurized Boiler Review

Apparently, I am one of the few remaining individuals who feel the need for freshly ironed clothing. I've always used steam irons, Rowenta most recently, with consistently disappointing results. Over the years, I've increased my use of spray starch to make up for the power I've believed should have originated in the iron. But no more!
After deciding I wasn't ready for a presser or a mangle for my clothing, and knowing I really didn't need to press that many tablecloths, I discovered a new genre: steam generating irons. And, after some significant research, I ordered this DeLonghi model.
It is truly a different beast than anything I've ever used! What steam production!!! The temperature of the iron sole plate is controlled independently from the quantity of steam desired. Tap water is actually recommended for use. The iron, while substantial in heft, is not heavy. And the old-fashioned looking cork handle is soft, smooth and cool to the touch.
But the bottom line is the job it does on my clothing and linen! While the ads say that this machine will cut your ironing time in half, I cannot say this is true.....mainly because I find myself taking the time to marvel over how each pass with the iron produces such a professional-looking surface! Really, the only thing that's been halved is my use of spray starch, which is an unforseen and welcome benefit!
Am I happy with my new "beast?" You bet! Would I buy another? No way....I suspect this well-designed machine is going to last me a long, long time. But can I recommend one for you? Without reservation!

The professional-quality ironing system with pressurized boiler gives you fresh, perfectly ironed garments every time. The very high volume of dry, powerful steam makes ironing quicker and more effective leaving dampness. It features the first double-material boiler made of a stainless-steel upper and super-alloy bottom that allows tap water to be used without the risk of valve occlusion. The molded tank allows for the heating element to be imbedded in the bottom rather than attached to the outside, creating a much better thermal capacity of the boiler for longer, more consistant ironing temperatures. The iron has a fully adjustable thermostat and steam flow to allow for perfect ironing on any type of fabric, and it can also be set for continous steam for vertical steaming of curtains, coats, etc. The professional cork handle provides hours of fatigue-free ironing, and the steam tube can be attached to either side of the boiler to accomodate either left- or right-handed people. All this and more in a beautiful professional ironing system that is backed by a three-year guarantee.

Update
So I've officially owned this iron for over a year now and have used it on average once every two weeks to iron anywhere between 5 and 14 shirts at a time (my husband is an entertainer and goes through shirts like water). The Panasonic is still working as steadily as ever - I haven't had any problems with calcified water build up in the unit, the temperature is still great enough to iron and the steam amount is about the same. In terms of durability, I'd give it a solid thumbs up.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
There are several things about the Panasonic Iron that I like, but there are a lot more things that I dislike about it. First, the things I did not like about it:
1. The Titanium soleplate: I like the smoothness of polished stainless steel soleplate much more than the titanium. While the titanium plate doesn't stick to the fabric, it doesn't glide as smoothly as stainless steel does.
2. The feel of the Iron: This iron, while light, feels very flimsy to me. It's very plastic, and I get a little nervous standing this iron up on the "tripod of legs" this iron has to accommodate the football shaped soleplate. Also, while ironing, the handle warms up more than other irons.
3. No digital readouts: Ever since owning the Black & Decker D2030 Auto-Off Digital Advantage Iron, I've been spoiled by a digital screen and all the indicators that come with it. The Panasonic has a simple dial to control the temperature and that's about it. The auto shut off is indicated by an orange light.
4. Not a huge amount of steam gets dispensed: In comparison to other irons, this iron does not put out as much steam.
However, there were things that I did like about the Panasonic Iron that would almost justify the cost of this item:
1. Multidirectional soleplate: I loved the multidirectional soleplate. Because there are two "points" to iron with, I was able to get through more shirts quickly.
2. The aesthetic design: The Panasonic Iron looks streamlined and classy, unlike other irons.
3. Long cord: The power cord on this iron is amazing. I was able to iron a distance away from the outlet without tripping.
Overall, the only real reason I would get this iron is for that soleplate. Because there are two "pointed ends" to this iron, I was able to iron much more efficiently. Asides from that, the iron itself is only average.

Ironing no longer has to be considered a tiresome chore thanks to this uniquely designed iron. Equipped with 1500 watts of power, the sleek-looking unit delivers an array of advanced features for safety and exceptional convenience, making it easy to move quickly and efficiently through piles of dress shirts, slacks, napkins, and more.

Innovative Dual-Point Design The iron's scratch-resistant, titanium-coated nonstick soleplate offers a unique elliptical shape for faster results. While conventional straight-backed soleplates may sometimes catch on fabric and actually create creases when moving backwards or side to side, the elliptical-shaped soleplate prevents creasing with points at either end, allowing for smooth, effortless gliding in any direction.

The iron's uniquely designed soleplate not only makes it possible to move backwards without fabric bunching up, but it also eliminates wasted motion (no need for several U-turns) and helps save time--up to 25-percent faster (when compared to conventional corded Panasonic irons). Furthermore, the bottom of the soleplate comes slightly curved to ensure smooth side-to-side movements, and the edge of the soleplate can always be viewed from above, which allows for precise control when ironing pleats, between buttons, and along seams.
The multi-directional iron also supplies 74 steam holes around the entire edge of the soleplate for efficient wrinkle removal, and its generous size quickly covers more surface area in less time--great for larger fabrics like curtains and tablecloths. Faster ironing means less effort required, lower energy costs, and more time to enjoy other activities.

Custom Control The iron provides user-friendly controls that make it exceptionally easy to operate. Turn the temperature-control dial from low to high heat to accommodate anything from acrylic and silk to wool, cotton, or linen. The temperature-selector dial offers words, dots, and steam symbols for quickly identifying the desired amount of heat and/or steam. A single dot on the dial represents a low temperature, while the double and triple dot symbols indicate medium and high heat. Some fabrics come labeled with these dots as a handy reference guide for choosing the proper heat setting when ironing. For added convenience, the iron's jet-of-steam function delivers a powerful burst of steam to help remove stubborn wrinkles when ironing, plus it effectively cleans the steam vents when finished, which helps keep the iron in good working order. The iron also offers a gentler option--the spay-mist button, which delivers extra moisture where needed.
Use the iron on a flat surface for traditional ironing or hold it upright for vertically steaming out wrinkles from curtains or hanging garments--no ironing board required. For added versatility, the iron's adjustable steam button allows for selecting just the right amount of steam for the job. Choose from four steam settings: "high" steam for heavier fabrics, "medium" steam for touch-ups, "low" steam for delicate fabrics, or "dry" for no steam output.

Safety and Convenience

For safe operation and peace of mind, the iron will shut itself off automatically--no need to worry or head back home to double check. Its mercury-free electronic sensor automatically shuts the iron off after 10 minutes if left in the upright position. It will also turn the iron off after 60 seconds if it's left unmoved on its soleplate or tipped over on its side.
Other details include a fatigue-reducing ergonomic design that feels balanced in the hand for ultimate comfort; a transparent water tank with a 6-3/4-ounce capacity; an anti-calcium system that prevents clogged steam vents by reducing the sediment build-up in the vaporizing chamber of the iron; and an anti-drip system that prevents water spotting even at low temperatures. Awarded the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval, the 1500-watt iron measures 10-4/5 by 4-7/8 by 5-7/8 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

This product does what it's supposed to do, but I did not like the fact that the top fabric was not sewn tightly enough onto the backing, so it bunches up - especially near the edges. While ironing, I had to shift my clothes, etc. away from the bunched up areas and that made it harder to use. I also would have appreciated a more "sticky" backing as it slides around a bit while you're ironing.

Oliso TG-800 Touch & Glide Steam Iron Review

Oliso TG-800 Touch and Glide Steam Iron
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I heard about this iron last year but didn't purchase it because it was $129 and I read a poor review on Amazon. Then a few months ago I read 2 great reviews from Gizmodo and Engadget so I stared to consider it again. In February my old trusty Kenmore iron died and a week or so later I read 2 very favorable magazine reviews (how old school) in Time Magazine's Feb. issue and Men's Health Magazine 2006 Tech Guide. I finally decided to go for it...and after over a month of use I am happy to say that they were right and this thing is AMAZING! I think I may be the first person to actually buy it, use it for over a month and then write a real review on Amazon. Believe me, I know I'm talking about an iron here but I've been ironing since I went to college and left my mom's home 15 years ago and I've never used an iron that does its job as stated and totally improves and speeds up my ironing chores while also being very safe.
I had owned and used my Kenmore Iron for almost 10 years and I loved it besides the fact it was very heavy and not so steamy the last few months. I had been considering the Black & Decker D2030 that everyone seems to love but after testing it I noticed the digital lcd screen was too hard to see and confusing unless I was at the perfect angle. Since most of the time I'm ironing quickly and half asleep in the morning I realized that feature could be a disaster so I kept researching and luckily picked up the right magazines in February. This Oliso iron does everything the D2030 can do but is just as easy to use and can do MUCH more. Seriously, the touch sensitive handle which causes the iron to raise up off my clothes and then lower back down with the touch of my hand is worth the $99 I spent alone and the best ironing idea since the iron was created!
As for features that matter the most for pro ironers like my grandma ;-), it heats up fast and has powerful, continuous, and balanced steam that is strong enough for my toughest and stiffest stuff like jeans. My favorite feature, it can do vertical bursts of super steam (like a real steamer) that removes wrinkles from any of my shirts that are hanging on a hangar with a few blasts (read: shirts ready in less than a minute without using an ironing board and because this thing auto lifts while in the natural horizontal position I can put it down naturally on ANY surface and its safe). My final thought, the engineers that thought this up must be smart people who definitely use steam irons...Did I mention it has a long pivoting cord, huge water tank that opens outward for filling right under my faucet, auto shut off and some special detailer feature on the front that allows me to do cuffs and collars easier than I've ever done. I could actually go on but I'd rather you buy one and discover ironing that is easy and kind of fun...
Thanks Oliso!

First time, spray didn't work, second time, power steam button didn't release the steam, third time, it was too strong fabric got stock underneath the iron and I couldn't clean the iron, fourth time, steam problem again, fifth time, steam problem again. Poorly tested product. I would've been really happy to keep it, if it was working properly. It actually had all the features I was looking for. Too bad for Rowenta for not testing their products properly.

Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer Review

Rowenta DG5030 Pressure Iron and Steamer

I replaced my old Rowenta (blue tank) with the new model and found it to be less than satisfactory due to: excessive water spotting on fabrics at any temperature/steam combination of settings and the fact that the water level in the tank is not visible; instruction booklet states that the water level might affect the spotting issues; however, if the water level is not visible, this is moot. I have contacted Rowenta who informed me they were "aware" of the spotting and water tank problems and that my comments would be "duly noted." Considering the cost of this iron and Rowenta's reputation for quality products, I feel that prospective customers should be aware of these problems before purchasing.

I read about this in the SkyMall catologue and when I checked in to the Marriott hotel, suprisingly there was one in my room. There was also a survey card near it so I think they're testing it out at hotels. For someone who travels about 80-90% of the year, and only spends weekends at home, this machine is great! I completely took any scent or odor out of my clothes, including perfume or food smells, and in addition, took out about 95% of the wrinkles. This machine is great for someone like me who is a busy professional that can never make it to the dry cleaners on time to pick up my clothes before they close, and many times, i just need the odor and wrinkles taken out. I had a shirt with a stain on it and I cleaned it with my shout wipe and stuck it in the Fabric Freshener and my shirt came out wrinkle and spot free and fresh. It cleans 2 garments at a time and the total cycle time is right around 30 minutes. You literally just put your clothes in, fill in the cup with water, zip up the bag, press the button and go watch tv or whatnots, and by the time your show is done, so is your clothes.

Steam Fast SF-680 Digital Fabric Steam Press Review

Steam Fast SF-680 Digital Fabric Steam Press

(More customer reviews)
Well, after two months of waiting, my 680 arrived. It was my Christmas present to myself. What had happened was the manufacturer didn't make enough of them last year. Demand far exceeded (incongruously) supply. That is why amazon, cyebye, smallappliances.com, and others had you on hold. I actually sent Top Innovations a griping email about the delays--this is how I found out what the situation was. By the way, Customer Service at TI is nothing less than outstanding! The first sentence from their department was this: "You are right. We need to do a better job of...." Imagine that. A company that still lives by the age old American adage--'the customer is always right.'
Oh, if you're looking for the best price on the product--it's Cyebye--providing you don't live in NY (otherwise, you'll pay the tax). $219.00. And, that company's Customer Service is also pleasant to deal with. That's why I stuck with them (well, okay... more for the price than anything else).
After tearing into my box like a lil' boy getting a birthday gift (mine is March 8th, case you want to send me something), I couldn't get the machine working fast enough. Design-wise, it's both sleek and very pleasing to the eye. Doesn't weigh too much and is easily portable.
Now the cons.
First thing I noticed was the tremendous jolting upswing the unit has when you elevate the top plate from the ironing board. It jerks the unit UP and BACK! You need to be cognizant of this. If you place this unit on the TI steamer stand, make certain you always keep one foot on the stand's base. Otherwise, the machine will dive backwards. That's how much upward force we're talking about here.
Next is the irritating shutoff safety feature. On "top line" models, these features should not be installed--or, at least have them as a programmable option. If you leave the machine unattended for about 8-10 mins, it will go into "standby" mode. Meaning, the heating temperature that you waited at least 10 minutes for it to build up will vanish. And, reactivation isn't as simple as just using the machine. You either have to turn it off then back on, or, scroll through the power temperature settings. Did I mention this was annoying?
Thirdly, not enough pressing power for thinner garments. I steam pressed two Italian cotton shirts and I was expecting extremely crisp presses. It does that for the sleeves (which is, of course, 2 materials thick), but, you will not get that same effect for the back or front of the shirt. The solution, place a thick towel over the board--place your thin shirt on that. Also note that thinner materials will acquire what I call "hole puffs" in them. The steaming plate has holes from where the steam exudes. Your thinner materials will periodically have those hole indentations on them. Rub them with your finger and they vanish.
This may or may not be a con. But, when it comes to the steam burst operation... it's LOUD. It gurgles and also spews water droplets as well. {Note that the feature advertisement on this site reads, "Dual vaporizing system significantly reduces water droplets". I wonder how TI defines "reduces".) Meaning, KEEP YOUR FACE AWAY FROM THE UNIT when activating the steam burst.
Another con deals with the instructions. Though simply annotated, it always stumps me when the writers/editors decide to use metric measurements (all of a suddenly) when the rest of the manual pertains to non-metric numbers. The section I'm talking about pertains to the steam burst mode. It states to lower the press no lower than 75mm from the board. 75mm? I don't mind the metric system because I'm fluent with it. But most Americans are not. (75mm is about 3 inches, by the way.)
Another con pertains to the display panel. The manual states that when the light deactivates (at the particular heat setting you're at--e.g., cotton, silk, etc.), then the machine is ready for use. Well, I just spent 90 minutes pressing nothing but cotton. And, if I adhered to what it states in the manual, that 90 minutes would have easily evolved into 120 minutes! That cotton indicator light is consistently going on, than it is remaining off. I would almost venture to state that it spends more time on the former rather than the latter.
The final con is the warranty. One measly year! That disappoints me tremendously. When you fork out more than $200 for a machine, 3 year warranty should be the minimum. Especially... ESPECIALLY with a digital product-which is what this is. One year warranty is insulting and doesn't speak well for TI (in my humble opinion).
Other than that... there are indeed ample pros for this machine. Compared to ironing or steaming, this press wins hands down. It's 3-4 times swifter than ironing because of 3 elements: large surface area of the machine, the tremendous heat, and, the steam burst function (remember to keep your face away from the 680 when using steam burst). The machine also appears easy to maintain and clean. The manual states to use distilled water. You probably should do as it states--because I'm certain the heating coil and other components are quite delicate inside. Non-distilled water usually equates to faster corrosion development--depending on your state of residency (drinking water). Florida, which is definitely a "hard water" town, definitely purchase distilled.
If I think of anything else, I'll come back and annotate. In the interim, the machine does what it says it'll do. But, I don't think it's the best one (home user models) out there. I could be wrong. I will keep this model, nonetheless.
Hope this helps....
