Imaginisce I-Top Tool Review

I love the idea of this tool. It is easy to use and creates cute paper-covered brads to match your project. BUT - don't touch the brad because it is liable to fall apart in a light breeze. The brad backs (the pointy side) just pop right out of the brad top with the slightest touch. I can't imagine even being able to put a page into a page protector without them popping off. However, there IS a solution. I used 2 layers of "Sticky Strip" adhesive from Stampin' Up (available in retail stores but I can't remember the brand name) on the face of the bottom piece before assembling the brad with the i-top tool. This seems to hold them together just fine. I will keep and enjoy using my i-top tool, but the tool/brads are not the quality I expected and it does require an additional step of adding adhesive.**UPDATE**
I contacted the mfr about this issue and they sent me a new pkg of blank brads because they figured I got a bad batch. I'm happy to say that the new brads work great - no adhesive needed! EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE. I recommend this product and if you have any issues - definitely contact the mfr.

Slice Inspirations Project Card Box Review

I have had my Slice about a year or so and I enjoy it for the most part. I think it's a little slow when compaired to the bigKick by Sizzix, but I like the fun shapes and the small size of the machine. I bought this for just seven dollars with shipping and I enjoyed the collection of the projects. Each card has an image of the project on the front and once opened (think of a greeting card) there are directions on how to do each craft. It lists the Slice card used and the sizes needed of each shape. Included in the instructions are what other Making Memories products are used- paper, embellishments, stickers, brads- what have you. On the back of the card it gives a silhouette of the Slice design used and lists again what card it can be found on.
These are my complaints-
1. There are a large amount of cards, all of which have a lot of cute fonts and great shapes, but there aren't a lot of them represented. Lots of projects are made with the Fa La La card and the Spellbound card, including multiple things with Basic Shapes 2. But the projects look the same from card to card. There is a lot to be gained from the layouts or at least the general idea but there was a large potential wasted.
2. There are inconsitant numbers of each collection. (Layouts, cards, photo decor, special occasions, and gift giving) Nearly ten cards are nested in the cards section and only three in the gift giving. Just not right...
3. The price is not correct for the product. I bought mine on clearance and it was worth it because it was under ten dollars. I think I'm pleased with it because I didn't have to pay a lot for it.
Hopefully, as I start to work with the cards, I can appreciate it more. As it is, look for it on sale and look for potential, not a complete how-to.

when I got my slice not many people heard of it, but i love mine...I don't have the space for a large cutter and i wouldn't keep pulling it out and putting it back, you can hold it in your hand and take it wherever you want ...now these design cards I just got, they are great and you can save so much money not having to buy things already cut, they are so easy and have alot to them...luv em, luv em, luv em.they made me get back into card making again after a long time away from it..

I have the Slice and I absolutley LOVE it, therefore I had to respond to the one poor review this item has. I will admit the Slice does take a little practice to get used to it. Spend a couple hours learning the machine, and all will work out fine. If there are problems, such as the previous reviewer had, there are things to try to eliminate those problems: make sure paper is adhered correctly, make sure blade does not need tightening or loosening, make sure to "home" the blade, calibrate the machine. If none of these work, contact Making Memories customer service. They are the BEST CS I have ever come across. They respond quickly, if you need to return something they send back also VERY quickly (I mean sometimes less than a week!), and they ALWAYS include extra items as a freebie, just for your troubles! One time I contacted them just to ask where I could purchase new blades (which my daughter ruined!) for my MM paper cutter. They responded by sending me an ENTIRELY NEW paper cutter, a tote bag, paper and embellishements! I feel this company goes well above and beyond what one could expect.

SLICE MACHINE THINK PINK New Making Memories Design Kit Review

I found this on Amazon for half of the typical retail price of $175. It shipped to my house in just a few days! Unfortunately, the Slice has trouble cutting through thicker card stock, and some of the images are distorted no matter what type of paper I use. The Slice comes with two design cards, Basic Elements and Think Pink. The Basic Elements card became defective after just a few days of use and would no longer be recognized by my Slice, but I contacted the manufacturer Making Memories and they sent a replacement right out. I am excited to finally have a Slice! But it's important to know that this only cuts images up to 4 in high, so best to go with a different die cut machine if you need bigger images.

I really prefer the spray to the paint on adhesive. The paint on kind smells awful, and with the spray on kind my hands don't get all sticky! I wish it was a bigger can though, I am sure I will run out sooner rather than later!

Making Memories Slice Cordless Design Cutter Machine Starter Set Review

Making Memories Slice Cordless Design Cutter Machine Starter Set

This is the first die-cut machine I have ever owned so I am by no means an expert but so far I absolutely adore my Slice Machine!
I am a frugal and practical shopper and I like to do my homework before I invest a chuck of money into something. So when I arrived at a point in my scrapbooking when I realized I would love to have a die-cutter I did some research. All die-cut machines are costly but the electronic ones are outrageously so. The affordable ones seem to have so many drawbacks that they are just not worth it. I looked at the Xyron cutter for a while but it got alot of bad reviews for the cutting mat which wore out too fast and had to be replaced alot. Cricuts and Pazzles are crazy expensive and their designs are costly as well.
Then one day in my research I saw an ad for the Slice. I checked it out and knew this was it. In a nut shell here are its strengths:
-Price. At $150 MSRP it is affordable. I actually got mine brand new on Ebay for $110. The design cards hold 100-150 images and some have 2 to 3 different alphabets and retail for $40 MSRP. Once again, I have found them as low as $27 online.
-Cutting Mat is infinitely reuseable. The Slice comes with a 6X6 glass mat but you can purchase a 12X12 for around $20. You simply paint on a tacky adhesive to keep the paper in place while you cut and wash it off the mat when your done. The adhesive comes with the product and when you run out just buy some more at around $6. One application of adhesive has lasted me 3 sessions of scrabooking and I've cut about 50 things so a little goes a long way.
-Portability. If you are into scrapping away from home you can easily transport it. Its very light weight and compact and they make a carrying case especially for it as well.
-Large screen. Its easy to choose what you need to cut and the menus are so simple a child could use this.
-Fully Self Contained. This product does not need to be hooked to a computer. It is fully rechargeable and a charge lasts for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs of cutting. Plus, if the charge runs out when you are cutting, you can plug the charger back in and continue.
-Range of designs and sizes. The Slice cuts most designs on the design cards from 1/2 inch to 4 inches giving you 8 sizes in most images. Currently there are 8 different design cards available but Making Memories is planning more. They also offer a orginizer bag for the design cards that matched the carrying case.
-It will cut Bazzil and photos and anything thinner than that.
Weaknesses:
-It only cuts up to 4 inches. This is not a problem for me but it could be for some people.
-It will not cut chipboard or anything thick like that. I don't think most cutters do though.
-I honestly cannot think of anymore drawbacks!
I LOVE MY SLICE!!!
