bought this machine here on Amazon for only 30.00 refurbished with 6 months warranty and free shipping.What a deal? I tested the machine and I said do myself let me get few more to give to friends as a gift, but was too late the price went up to almost 100.00. The only thing I regret is because I bought it this year and I should've bought a long time ago even paying the 100.00 price. This machine is excellent I have cooked so many different thing on it and I love it. I do agree with someone that said that it makes a little noise, but just spray a little oil on it. It does what they show on TV commercial and much more ,just be creative.

I bought it for $10 a few years ago. This is great if you can "cook" at work. Just throw a frozen hamberger patty and you have something to eat in 10 mins. But the surface is really small, so you can only cook small quantity at a time. Also cleaning is not as easy as they say. You can't throw it in the dishwasher. The grill outside gets sticky from the greasy fume so in that respect it takes more work to clean. Inside is pretty much wiping off the juice and the residue but I use soapy water and a sponge so I have to do that a few times as well. If you are single, live in a bachelor/studio or stove-less environment like a student, this is a great addition to a microwave.

Great product! I have to admit, I'm addicted to kitchen appliances. I love 'em! What separates the Ronco Rotisserie from the others is that I actually use it and use it often.
I purchased mine after seeing the infomercial. To my delight and surprise, it was presented accurately. This makes roasting a breeze, clean up a snap and the results are mouth watering.
For a while, I used it to only roast chicken. As a single, working mother, I'd roast two at a time, intending to use the cooked chicken for chicken salads, Cordon Bleu, curries, sandwiches, etc. throughout the week. Since then, I've cooked just about everything, my favorite now being roast beef. (Marinate the roast in beer overnight, then make a rub with seasoned salt and rosemary, apply liberally. Delicious!)
My included flavor injector doesn't work well, so I don't use it. I've tried injecting lime juice under my chicken's skins and the juice pours out of the injector before I have inserted it into the meat. This may be a defective injector, but I thought it worth mentioning to other consumers.
Also, I have attempted to use the "steamer" located on top of the Rotisserie. The "steamer", in actuality is just a pan which is warmed solely from the heat that the unit emits. Thus, I cannot control its heat and my vegetables have come out too soft for my preference.
Having mentioned heat, I must state that this unit gets HOT. PLEASE use with caution! Unlike the slogan repeated on the informercial, you really cannot "set it and forget it". You MUST monitor your Showtime Rotisserie. There is even a warning upon the window to this effect.
As pleased as I was with my Rotisserie, I recommended it to my sister. We'd both used ours to cook Thanksgiving turkeys. Apparently, she had not trimmed down or tied her wings tightly (you do not have to buy extra meat ties [over priced] from Ronco or inexpensively from your meat market. I use unwaxed, unflavored dental floss with wonderful results). This, combined with the fact that the fat really does copiously drip into the pan at the base of the unit, resulted in a grease fire. The unit and the turkey were salvaged however.
Finally, I share that one of our local news stations (Washington, D.C.) did an in depth investigation on infomercials. Its purpose was to report if products that the infomercials introduced were as easy, practical and effective as they claimed. Its findings were that the ONLY product that was tested and worked as introduced was the Ronco Showtime Rotisserie.
If you follow directions, monitor your unit and do not become careless because of the ease of its use, you will have excellent results.

My family has used my mom's wedding rotisserie for years, but after fifty years it finally died. We were in a panic, what shall we do, after all it lasted fifty years, made of shiny steel. We searched all the rotisseries out there, read the comments on the different products, even looked at eBay, noticed comments about the white plastic discoloring eventually from the heat. Then in our shopping we saw the Showtime Platinum with its fine unpainted steel exterior and solid construction. Everyone was selling the thing for $160 plus sales tax, so buying from amazon with free shipping was a no-brainer, especially since the day we placed our order the amazon webpage had a surprise $29 savings certificate. Well, I must say that in just one week we have done one to two chickens a day for our family of six, a marinated pork roast, salmon in the basket, and everything comes out absolutely perfect and delicious. Some think Ronco means cheap construction, but this thing is well and thoughtfully put together, and the video is really quite informative. Even the elastic chicken ties are a great idea, I now must go go a sewing store and buy more of this elastic thread and make my own. There is a reflector that goes down inside the back behind the heating coils that comes out for the dishwasher, and everything removable works in the dishwasher too, with very little cleanup inside and out with a sponge. Great food, easy care, great instructions, thoughtful and quality design, this thing is great. I would (and have) strongly recommend this specific unit to those I know and those reading this review.

Meat and poultry cooked in a rotisserie are not only tender, moist, and flavorful, but also better for you! Fat drips off and the food is evenly exposed to moist heat so is less likely to be overcooked or undercooked. Our electrics buyer swears by this rotisserie for making fabulous, succulent chicken and duck. Our first rotisserie was an older compact Ronco with a cylindrical cooking chamber and a horizontal spit, a nice enough product that delivered fine results -- but it was a hassle. The chicken had to be very carefully and tightly trussed, because of the side-to-side orientation of the spit. The quad spikes that made up the spit had to be very carefully centered on the bird, so that the relatively weak motor wouldn't hang up as it tried to lift the heavier side, a process complicated by moving bird parts if the chicken wasn't perfectly trussed. Anything more than a 3.5-4 pound bird ran the risk of brushing up against the drip tray on every rotation, and in general, we found the whole process to be more trouble than it was worth. We just didn't use it very often.
Enter the Cuisinart CVR-1000. Everything that was wrong about the Ronco was right about this one. The vertical spit, the spacious interior cooking space, the ability to choose different temperature settings, even the clean lines and stainless exterior. The cooking process couldn't be much easier and more convenient. Because it's a vertical spit, you just truss the legs together (or not), and slide the cavity of the bird down over the central support. That's it. No sharp metal spikes to drive through the bird, no trying to properly orient the weight of it all, no trying to match the ends of the spikes to metal sockets on another round disk. The support sits in the round drip tray (looks like a small cake pan), and both come out of the oven easily. So you can set everything up on the counter, slip it right into the oven, turn it on and an hour later you have a wonderfully cooked bird.
Cleaning is a cinch. There's a polished heat reflector behind the heating elements that just slides right out. The drip tray catches all the juices, so what's left is just a quick and easy wipe-down on the glass door and interior walls.
The oven sports an interior light, which is really more novelty than tool, but it's nice to be able to see a little more clearly how dark the skin may be getting.
I try to avoid superlatives in reviews, but with products like this one, it's okay to fail sometimes. This is the best rotisserie I've owned. Performance and aesthetic appeal matched with wonderful ease of use and convenience. I do highly recommend brining your birds before cooking. While rotisserie chickens are often juicy and flavorful without, you can end up with some absolutely amazing results with. A delicious maple brine we use consists of 2 quarts water, 1 cup dark brown sugar, 1/2 cup soy sauce, 1/2 cup real maple syrup, 1/4 cup + 2 tablespoons sea salt, 5 whole cloves garlic (peeled), 4 whole bay leaves, 2 large sprigs of thyme, 1 teaspoon whole black peppercorns. Mix it together, bring it to a boil and cook it until all the sugars are dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature before adding the bird. Refrigerate both together (bird fully submerged -- this is enough brine for one 4-4.5 pound chicken) for between 5.5 to 6 hours, then toss it in the rotisserie according to the included instructions (about an hour + 5 minutes for that sized bird). What you'll have at the end is a subtly flavored smoky sweet very juicy and flavorful bird, superior to anything you might find at typical groceries or rotisserie fast food places.
Love this machine, and will highly recommend it to friends and family.
