(More customer reviews)I purchased one of these last week at Bed Bath and Beyond. I didn't even know I needed one until I saw it. As with most Cuisinart products, the design of the unit is quite nice. But aesthetics aren't everything.
To begin with, the directions aren't very clear. I attempted to pre-soak the filter as directed, but it didn't seem to do anything. Also, the initial filtering of the water took a lot longer than the instructions stated. I believe they said it would take about 15 minutes for the water to filter through into the dispenser. Mine took almost an hour. Who knows, maybe I didn't soak the filter properly. But that was just the beginning of my problems.
Once the water was filtered, I switched the device on. It was a lot louder than I thought it would be. Actually, I wasn't expecting much noise at all. The device does quiet down a bit, after it has reached its target temperatures for the hot and cold. But after you dispense some water, it kicks back in again. If you have a large kitchen, the sound of the device might not be a problem for you. After all, it's a small price to pay for instantly available hot and cold filtered water. OK, "instantly" might not be the best choice of words.
To dispense water from either side, you have to press in and hold the appropriate button. The water comes out in a steady stream, but a very thin stream. Which means, it takes a long time just to fill up one cup. Even as a single man, this kind of wait was unbearable. I can't imagine someone with a family using this device. In any case, if you do end up purchasing this device, I wish you luck. I ended up returning mine just a few days after I purchased it.

By the time their articles went to print, two models 4870HG and 4870HZ, were released and neither has had a price increase. I bought the recent HZ from Amazon.com and it was delivered UPS in two days in a tall box which told me it was already assembled. Assembly for attachements and a reading the instructions was a 3 minute process. It is much quieter than my prior 1999 Hoover Bag Model and Bissell 2003 Bagless, both of which still ran but did not pick up much. It picks up so much and so fast, you won't have to waste $150 to have your carpets cleaned (assuming no embedded stains like grape juice). You will love it. There is not enough space on here to say all the great things about it. The price ended up including a second replacement bag and a replacement drive belt. Too many great features to mention here.

Tribest Purewise Water Distiller Review

Unfortunately, I didn't realize this until after my purchase.
The machine takes over 4.5 hours to produce less than one gallon of water.
The purpose of buying this distiller was to save money from buying bottled water from the store. Well, the machine runs for about 5 hours.
The electricity is going to cost more than the water was.
I have one gallon jugs here and the machine when finished, does NOT fill a one gallon jug, not even close.
Buy a distiller from a company who has a return policy...which lets you return it because you used it and were unhappy with it's performance.
I would say 90% of these distiller companies will only let you return it if you didn't use it. Then you charge you a restocking fee on top of your shipping charges to return it.
I vote NO on the product!

(More customer reviews)I've had this distiller for a couple of years now and make 2-3 gallons of water PER DAY for my family. It is EXCELLENT. (Make sure and read my tip below if you do buy one).
To comment on the previous reviewer's statement that there's no point in distilling water and then keeping it in a plastic container -- the water doesn't stay in the container for any significant length of time to contaminate it. If there is a concern, the water can be easily poured into a glass jug and stored that way. With water this pure, I've found we drink more than ever and feel great about the health advantages and cost savings. The pitcher holds a gallon and that amount is easily used by most people within a day, given the amount we drink and cook with (i.e. water added in cooking to make oatmeal, rice, etc.).
The main reason we purchased this unit to begin with was that we moved into a home that has a water softener unit which automatically deposits salt and chemicals into the main water system. I watered houseplants with that water and within a week the plants died!! We simply didn't want to drink that water, but we like our water softener for other reasons (no hard water deposits) and didn't want to remove it.
The cost to produce the water in this distiller has not made any significant difference in our electricity bill, and we've found it to be cheaper and much more convenient than purchasing bottled water (who even knows what impurities bottled water contains!).
One TIP that I would recommend which allows the water to distill a lot faster: FILL THE KETTLE WITH THE HOTTEST POSSIBLE TAP WATER INSTEAD OF COLD WATER. It will cut down on the time it takes to make a gallon, as the unit won't have to work as long to bring the kettle to the boiling temperature required. This unit is easy to us -just fill the kettle with hot water and press a button.
I've found the Waterwise company to be very helpful with my questions, etc. over the phone. I would highly recommend this product. I can't imagine a glass of any other kind of water now!

Bodum Ceylon Iced Tea Maker with Filter Review

(More customer reviews)This pitcher does what it says, but after using it for a few months I have to wonder if this pitcher is special enough to warrant the price. The 'pull in-pull out' compartment that holds tea bags or lemons is nice. But the plastic is so thin after a few uses it starts to warp out of shape. If youre not supposed to pour hot water in the pitcher, what is the point of using it? I really like the slim-ness of the pitcher overall (fits in the fridge well), and I don't mind its small capacity, but its overall fragile build leaves me wishing the manufacturers would have just created something more sturdy. I'd say someone is better off just brewing tea in a regular tupperware pitcher for half the price.

(More customer reviews)If you own a deep fryer and do not know about these yet, chances are you really need these. Depending on how often you use your deep fryer, you could need replacements in less than a month.
So, what do they do? Simple, they keep oily fumes from invading your house when your frying-up a batch of french-fries. The oily smell in the air is not normal, and the fumes can leave an oily residue on anything and everything. So, you gotta have them.
As far as I can tell, Rival is the only company that still makes the filters for home units at a reasonable price.

(More customer reviews)I'm very happy to see this item on Amazon because I find it impossible to locate it at my local stores. Note that this filter only fits the Tassimo machine that allows for a filter (the TA1400 with a 68-oz. water tank). It does not fit the TA1200 with a 50oz water tank (which does not come with a water filter). If your machine originally came with a filter it is the TA1400 and this is the replacement water filter for it. The filter does a good job and allows me to quickly fill the tank with tap water as opposed to using water from my kitchen filter which comes out slowly and takes much longer to fill the tank.

Mr. Coffee Water Filter Replacements (6 Filters) Review

(More customer reviews)Several reviews have claimed that these filters are a total waste, blah blah blah. If they feel their water doesn't need filtration, then I should think they should simply not use a filter and not complain.
Some of us, on the other hand, live in areas where the tap water tastes downright vile--this is certainly the case where I live. I used to buy bottled water for the sole purpose of making coffee. These filters, though, have saved me time and money--yes, they really work! Since I bought the Mr Coffee coffee maker last year, I can use tap water and have coffee without the unpleasant taste of chlorine. This was certainly not the case before.
As to the price, I've paid just as much for two filters (as opposed to six) in stores, and what Amazon charges is much more reasonable than any other price I've seen for this item on line.

Keurig 5072 Water Filter Replacement Review

(More customer reviews)I bought two of these filters. I installed one in my B70 at home and the other in my B60 in my office.
The B70 continues to work but the B60 is no longer working. The pump runs and makes noise but the machine does not take in water. I contacted Keurig who told me that the newer machines have a "more sensitive" pump and that these filters have been causing problems. Sounds like the newer machines have a weaker pump that can't pull the water through.
Since removing the filter, the machine only sometimes works so Keurig has offered to replace it with a new machine.
They recommended I remove the filter from my B70 before it also breaks and offered me a free 24 pack of coffee to make up for the $36 I spent on these two filters (purchased from Bed, Bath and Beyond)
Good cust service, no complaints there... but I don't recommend his filter (and Keurig agrees)

Considering that water makes up over 95-percent of each cup of coffee (even if you added a copius amount of sugar), microscopic particles and minerals can contaminate the taste of even the best cup of coffee or tea. What a catastrophe if the prime ingredients that fill each Keurig K-Cup meet with distasteful water. Unfortunately, many areas of the USA still have relatively hard water. RSVP Maunual Drip Coffee Filter Cone for Carafes or Thermos Review

(More customer reviews)I bought a Zojirushi 1L carafe and was very happy with it. Then read in the instructions that there was an option to put a Manual Drip Filter Cone that could be used to make coffee directly into the carafe. I checked it out on Amazon but saw a lot of criticisms that gave me pause. But slowly I started checking them out one by one and found them either to be wrong or irrelevant. The most important criticisms that I saw was that the thing dripped too slowly and was structurally unbalanced.
One reviewer made the claim that their Melitta One cup cone had 4 holes and thus drained coffee quickly. I also own a Melitta one cup drip cone and found that (despite claims to the contrary) there is only one hole in that device and that did not prevent the Melitta one cup from making coffee in less 30 seconds
There was also a claim that Melitta's 10 cup Cone/Carafe would be better as it would be faster than this Manual Drip Coffee Cone. But I checked out the Melitta at a local Ace Hardware and again it only has one hole. Plus the thing is so wide it would be useless for the purpose of making coffee directly into my Zojirushi carafe.
So seeing how these two criticisms were factually inaccurate I bit the bullet and bought the cone and just received it two days ago. On initial inspection, I can see how someone could say it seems structurally unstable. But this thing has a small hollow cylinder jutting out from the bottom of the cone (not shown in in the picture) through which coffee drains (like a typical funnel). And when you insert this cylinder into the narrow neck of a carafe or thermos it is absolutely rock solid. On my Zojirushi, it is as if they were made for each other. If you needed to use this make coffee for a cup or mug then you probably are better off with the Melitta one cup cone.
I ground my beans extra fine for cone filters and it took 3 minutes to make 1L of great coffee. I don't know that may be way too long for some people (as others did not post times I can't say) but it's perfectly fine for me. So at least for me the claim of being too slow was just not true.
I can't wait until the weekend. I usually percolate a pot of coffee and read the paper and some books to pass away the morning before exercising and doing household chores.

It's been over half a year since I bought the cone and have nothing but good experiences with it. I like it so much I bought another so I could make a pot of coffee at work. I have noticed that with extremely fine ground coffee (where the grounds turn to mud in the filter), the drainage is slower but you can try stirring the grounds as it drains, putting in the filter at a 90 degree angle to keep the filter from sticking against the sides of cone. I've never had a persitant problem of slow drainage. In any case, every day I use this cone to make a litre of coffee. It takes me less than 10 minutes to grind the beans, make the coffee, cleanup and walk back to my desk where all my coworkers fight amongst themselves as to who gets to drink my coffee a litre goes pretty fast when you've got five people drinking it.
I don't claim that everyone will have this experience but as I said for someone who just wants a cup of coffee in the morning and some to share with friends, this has been a wonderful purchase.
