The oldest is housetrained, but now we are starting over with a puppy who will proceed to use our kitchen floor as his bathroom until he learns better. We bought this cleaner tonight at Target (sale right now where you can buy the Floormate for $129.99 and get a $30 Target gift card for Free!!) We debated this purchase for a while, but we are thrilled with the initial results... the water in the tank after we tried it in the kitchen was so horrifying that we immediately set about cleaning the wood foyer that we did not even think was dirty... think again!! We are very pleased and will update our review if our opinion changes. As of right now, I don't know how we ever got through the puppy stage without this last time!!! Quick note - We found that using half the amount of cleaner called for works well with no residue! Enjoy an easy mopping experience!!

(More customer reviews)Having all hardwood and tile floors, I went on mission to find something convenient to clean with. I read dozens and dozens of reviews on every conceivable type of hard surface floor cleaner. There seems to be 2 complaints about this mop...short charge time, and it didn't get the floor "hands and knees" clean. Well, if you are that anal that you still mop on your hands and knees, more power to you! I wanted something that would clean the floor after a new puppy accident, grandchildren spills and tracked-in mud on a day to day basis. And this mop works great! I can clean all my floors twice on one charge (which is about 1600 square feet, so not huge), and as far as the complaint about the water not staying real hot, news flash, if you use a antibiotical cleaner, you don't need hot water. I have not had any streaks, it picks up all the water and leaves the floor just damp. Apparently, some buyers expected it to leave the floor totally dry...and just how would that be managed? Built in hair dryer? And no, it is not a vacuum; you have to broom sweep first. But who doesn't sweep before they mop?
For the money, I think it's a great answer to the problem. It is easy to fill, easy to empty, and easy to store. I would (and have) recommend it to family and friends. If I had any suggestion for improvement, it would be to lower the brushes about a 1/4 inch to get even better scrubbing action.

Ideal for cleaning hard-surface floors and quickly picking up spills, this cordless electric power mop washes and dries floors in the kitchen, dinette, hallway, bathroom, and other rooms in the house. (More customer reviews)After using this product for the past three months, I have decided that I could not live without it. I have tile floors in my kitchen and hallway - and the grout had become so dirty and I never felt that mopping was doing much more than redistributing the dirt. It is a pleasure to clean the floor with this machine! I use HOT water which really helps to kill the germs and by taking the dirty water up off the floor after it is scrubbed, it truly gets the dirt up and off the floor. Thirty years of dirt embedded into the grout is coming out - and my once blackened grout is now white again.
The other benefit of this is that the floor is dried almost instantly - which prevents my small children from slipping on a wet floor.
If this machine ever broke - I would replace it immediately. I put it in the same indispensible categories as my dishwasher, vacuum, and washer/dryer.
I recommend this machine - which is especially nice to be able to clean floors such as basement, garage, and other areas where a sink is not available to aid in mopping - besides, this gets it much cleaner.

Hoover H3030 FloorMate SpinScrub 500 Floor Cleaner Review

(More customer reviews)Nothing is going to get your floor as clean as good ol' handwashing on your hands and knees. But who is willing to do that anymore? This machine is a reasonable tradeoff between convenience and efficiency.
It really will scrub sealed floors clean. Don't expect to save much time over traditional mopping, though. You must slooooowly push and pull it several times over a spot to really get it clean. Stubborn or ground in stains may require a second or third wash. And it's impossible to fully clean edges or corners.

A couple items are worth mentioning. First, the dry vac mode is extremely weak. I could not get it to suck up a simple peppercorn or corn flake! Pre-sweeping with a broom or other bare floor vac is a must.
Secondly, Hoover recommends only using their special floor cleaner with the machine, which I find annoying, expensive and hard to find. I emailed them about this, and they said I could also use vinegar and water, which is too mild in my opinion. I felt daring and have used other floor cleaners in the machine without any problem. However, I would avoid using pine, orange, bleach, or ammonia based cleaners -- as the instructions specifically mention not to use "solvent" based cleansers.
So overall, a solid product. Just be realistic in your expectations of what it can do.

(More customer reviews)I had a FloorMate awhile back. That model allowed you to scrub and pick up the water separately. This model picks the water up as you scrub, so you end up using more water (and solution). The solution tank is small (1 qt, so you are filling it after about 100 sq feet of cleaning. The machine works but I preferred the other model. Also, the solution is too expensive ($49.00/gallon). The mix ratio is 1 cup per gallon.

(More customer reviews)Hoover Grout Cleaner made my 5 year old travertine grout lines look like new--and trust me I have tried everything. I have natural stone so some uneven areas and I used the product with a grout brush not the Hoover Floor Mate machine which mises 90% of the grout, but does clean rest of floor very well. Grout is tricky. I recommend that you go to Home Depot/Lowes, get the grout brush, and sit on the floor and clean grout lines with this great product like a Marine. Great looking floors now. Highly recommned this product.

(More customer reviews)This thing is loud, but it works. If there's a weakness, it's that the dry vacuum doesn't seem to do too well. But that's what a good sweeping is for, isn't it? I have linoleum, and the H3044 did a fine job. The cleaning solution was pretty filthy when I poured it out after use, both satisfying and repulsive at the same time! It seems that this is a new Hoover model (July 2007), which explains why there are not a lot of reviews to be found online. I wish it could use Pine-Sol, because I have a Costco-sized jug of that stuff on hand already. Will vinegar/water mix work? I have no idea. I don't see why not. I guess the fear is that the gaskets will fail if solvents are used. Guess I'll stick to the Hoover stuff for now. Anyways, it scrubbed my floors quite well, even though they're a bit uneven/warped. The vacuum is great at picking the solution back up. Hope that helps.
