I love this waffle iron! I've made waffles with it flawlessly, as well as small cakes (a recipe book comes with the waffler and includes this recipe). I even bought another one as a gift. I've had no problems with anything breaking or malfunctioning, and this iron is very simple to use. I get perfect flowers every time, and I've had this iron over 2 years.

Despite the previous review I love this item. It makes crispy waffles with nice deep wells for syrup. It's pizzelle plate is perfect. In 100 seconds you can pop off a soft pizzelle, and either lay it on a rack to harden or drape over a custard cup for a shaped one. Recipe is tasty and easy to vary. Only needs one change in the recipe book--tell people that these cookies harden after they're baked--within 10 seconds actually. Everyone love the results with this cooker.

VillaWare 2010 UNO Pro Belgian Gravity Waffler Review

VillaWare 2010 UNO Pro Belgian Gravity Waffler

I bought this machine because I liked the fact that it made 1.5" thick waffles, rather than the 1.25" waffles that the other flip machines make. I also liked the short handle of the iron and its compact appearance. I felt that the machine was sturdier than the Waring Pro waffle machine, the other machine I was thinking of buying. I was hestitant to spend $100 on a waffle machine. But I reasoned that if I was willing to pay $80 for the Waring Pro, I could pay $20 more for a machine I really wanted. I am definitely happy with my decision!
The first time I used the machine, I used a belgian waffle mix and a spray made for waffle machines. The first waffle was okay, but when I adjusted the browning level to 5, instead of the 3-4 suggested by the manufacturer, I got the crisp and fluffy waffle that I wanted. The machine beeps when it is hot enough to fill and again when the waffle is ready. The whole process went smoothly; there was no overflow, no dough got stuck and I was able to wipe the machine with a damp cloth when I was done. I also used a pastry brush to absord any left over grease and remove the one crumb that was left behind. I made four waffles for four people, but they were so big that we just split two between the four of us and saved the other two for later. Everyone loved the waffles! I don't remember how long it took to make all four waffles, but I don't believe that it took more than 30 minutes to heat up the waffle iron, mix the batter and cook the waffles (the mix had to stand for 15 minutes to allow the yeast to activate).
The machine is heavier than I expected, but not an unreasonable weight. I keep it on top of my kitchen cabinet because it takes up a lot of counter space, which is a bad thing in a small kitchen. It takes a while for the machine to cool down, longer than I expected. These are very minor drawbacks. I really love this machine, especially because now I don't have to rely on IHOP when I need a waffle fix!

Housed in durable cast aluminum, this Belgian waffle maker features top and bottom heating units that are rotated 180 degrees during cooking so the grid fills evenly with batter, ensuring consistently browned and crisp results. Easily adjust crispness by selecting among seven browning levels. A chime signals when the waffle is ready, and thanks to the waffle maker's nonstick finish, cooked waffles release easily. The unit produces one round 6-1/4-inch-diameter waffle, a generous 1-1/2 inches thick, with deep pockets for butter and syrup. Other highlights include ready indicator lights, a simple on/off switch, a stay-cool handle, and slip-free feet for stability on the countertop. The waffle maker measures 15-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 7-1/4 inches.

I would not recommend this waffle-maker. The lower handle provides a place for batter to ooze into, and it can't be cleaned out! And you can't unscrew the screws to get at the area. The light timer makes dark waffles, not to my kids liking. I'm ready to pull my old waffle maker out of the attic!

Cuisinart WAF-R Traditional Waffle Iron Review

Cuisinart WAF-R Traditional Waffle Iron
Average Reviews:

I am loving the aesthetics of this thing. It reminds of the heavy-duty, no-nonsense waffle makers at a Waffle House.
The iron heats up quickly - no more than five minutes from off to level 4. The indicator lights are bright, and the audible alert isn't loud or shrill. Any stainless steel case will get hot, so if you are accident-prone, skip this unit and go with one with a plastic case.
I have to disagree with some of the complaints about the handle insulation - this unit isn't a panini press, and doesn't require you to grip it with your whole hand and yank up. Slight upward pressure with your thumb is all that's needed to disengage the lock, free the waffle, and open the lid. And speaking of the locking mechanism: it works perfectly on mine. It is very subtle and does the job.
The plates are non-stick and don't require oiling. I have made dozens of waffles, ranging in doneness from spongy to crispy, and every single one has released cleanly. Again, all it takes is a gentle upward pressure on the handle with your thumb until the lid opens.
One welcome surprise about this unit: it is designed to be stored vertically! The plate hinges and lip of the base make a tripod, giving you more storage options.
My only issue with the WAF-R is that I think the gutters could be a bit bigger. With a new batter, that first waffle can get a little messy.

This silvery little "pod" is actually a waffle iron, a modern day small appliance from Cuisinart. It bakes one large, traditional-style waffle. Customize yours by choosing one of the six brownness settings. There's a red light that lets you know the waffle iron is on and a green light that means it's ready to bake then ready to eat. An audible tone also alerts you. The baking plates are nonstick so your waffles pop right out. Other features include cool-touch handles. For storing, the lid locks in place, the cord wraps then the entire unit can be placed on its side.

Based on the only 2 reviews available at the time, I was willing to take a chance due to the price. Unfortunately, the second reviewer was more closely accurate to my experience. We tried this waffle maker on 3 separate occasions and each time the waffles were cooked in the center but uncooked at the edges. Uneven cooking is the major complaint but expectations are that evenly cooked waffles is the prime job of a waffle maker. Bells and whistles mean nothing if the waffles are badly prepared. The best I can say is that after 3 uses they released fine...no sticking...but what they released was inedible at best. Turns out the heating element is very small and heat doesn't conduct through the thin aluminum casting. It heats only the area covered by the element. Needs a larger element or better conductors. I'm scrapping it for a much pricier model...Calphalon No-Peek Waffle Maker...also available on Amazon. We've only used it once but OMG...it's incredible. After a few more uses, I'll be willing to review it.

The other reviews are correct, but no one warns you that these are not the normal 5" pizzelles as Amazon implies with it's "doubles as ice cream cones" bullet. These are 3" circles that are really too small for anything except tiny snacks. Curled into bowls they hold a bit over an ounce (30cc) so whatever dessert you make it'll be tiny. On the other hand they taste great and if you put a very small scoop of ice cream, 2 or three red raspberries (3 black raspberries wouldn't fit) and a bit of your favorite sauce, you've got a great thing. It would take at least 3-4 to satisfy the average guy, though. Unless there's some reason you want tiny, I'd go with the 5" pizzelles.

Smart Planet WM-3 Circus Waffle Shape Maker Review

We got a great price on ours, which is why we took a chance. But the first bake was somewhat of a disappointment. The animal spaces are small, so getting the lion's legs and tail adn the elephant trunk filled with batter is a challenge.
By the time we were able to fill the shapes, some areas were already getting done... even before closing the thing. Then we tried filling it faster adn not worrying about getting the shapes filled perfectly. EVERY waffle came out partially burned and partially uncooked.
I'm not a novice at baking waffles, I own three other irons. With a toddler at home, this seemed like a fun way to make smaller waffles. I'll stick to a real waffle iron. This one is just a toy that doesn't really work very well.

Krups FDD912 Expert Waffle Maker with Rotary System Review

Krups FDD912 Expert Waffle Maker with Rotary System
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently stayed in a Seattle hotel whose brunch buffet featured a do it yourself waffle bar. The professional waffle maker featured a rotary system that intrigued me--you poured in your batter, rotated the cooking plates, and when the light came on, rotated it back and removed your waffle. This rotary gizmo seemed to make the waffles cook very evenly and crisply.
I set off on a quest to find my OWN rotary waffle maker. I purchased this Krups waffle maker and have been very happy with it. While not quite as heavy duty as the restaurant version I used in Seattle, this is a FINE waffle maker. Here are some of its features:
1) Very well made. Very solid. All parts fit precisely. It has a heavy, durable quality that makes me think it will last me the rest of my life.
2) Easy to clean. The cooking plates remove for easy cleaning. The drip pan snaps in and out very easily and keeps batter from oozing onto your counter.
3) Fun and easy to use. Your brunch guests will be wowed as they watch you rotate your waffle maker! It really does a superior job at making waffles. All the recipes I've tried so far have come out great (even the recipes in the owner's manual--more on that later).
Note that the editor's comments concerning the lights are not quite correct. There are two lights on the top of the unit. One glows red while it is heating, and the other light glows green when the unit is ready to use. The light does NOT come on when the waffle is finished cooking, which makes sense because while the waffle is cooking, the lights are ON THE BOTTOM OF THE UNIT WHERE YOU CAN'T SEE THEM! However, it doesn't take long to figure out how long to cook the waffles after a test one turns out too brown or too light.
4) Easy to store. The handle folds up so you can pop this into a cabinet.
The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is the owner's manual. Maybe it's a translation problem (I assume the original was in German), but the recipes are bizarre.
First of all, American cooks will be disconcerted by the fact that amounts of flour, sugar, butter, etc., are given by weight, not volume (grams, not cups). But anyone with a kitchen scale can adjust to that. But there are other problems.
One of the recipes doesn't give a quantity for salt, it just says "add salt."
Another recipe doesn't give a quantity for sugar, butter, or flour, just says "add same weight as eggs." I weighed the five eggs (255 grams) and added that much sugar, butter, and flour. The recipe thus contained about two cups flour, two cups sugar, and two cups butter with no other liquid than the five eggs. Made kind of a thick, gritty batter that looked more like cake batter than waffle batter. The waffles cooked perfectly, but boy were they strange!! Kind of gritty from all that sugar. I hate to think how many calories they contained!

Waffle Cone Baker Forming Tool Review

Waffle Cone Baker Forming Tool
Average Reviews:

This is MUCH better than just trying to wrap a cone around a mandrel. You slide the waffle into the form, and twist the mandrel to drag it into the cone-shaped part of the form (and around the mandrel). You quickly learn to make the cone predictably well, and if you keep the cone in the form for 30 seconds, it keeps it from unwrapping even if the waffle is a little soft. The form is made of aluminium sheet metal and the mandrel is solid cast metal with ridges. The form has no legs, so it sits unevenly on the worktop. This makes it look cheap, but it works quite well for me. I've seen a version with a sturdier form, but haven't seen a need to spend 4x for it

This waffle iron does a great job with waffles. The problem is that it is very hard to clean. There are to many small clearances around the waffle iron for waffle mix to cake up if the waffle iron runs over. There isn't an adequate drip edge to catch the over flow.
I am going to try the Villaware with the removeable grids. I put whole blue berries into to my waffle batter, and this also requires additional clean up that would be easier if I can remove the grids and put them in a dish pan.

This waffle iron is perfect. It heats quickly, makes waffles in half the time (about 3.5 min compared to about 7 min in our old iron) AND you can make two at a time. Basically, it cuts the waffle cook time down to 1/4 of what it previously took us. That is great for someone with 2 hungry kids! Some other people commented that waffles stick-we have a problem with the first one occasionally. Even if the first one does not come out perfect looking it still tastes fantastic! I would also recommend using a Belgain Waffle recipie (not pancake mix) to get light and fluffy waffles. .

Kalorik WM-17885 Heart-Shaped 1000-Watt Nonstick Wafflemaker Review

Kalorik WM-17885 Heart-Shaped 1000-Watt Nonstick Wafflemaker
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My workplace instated "Waffle Wednesdays" and every week we make about two dozen waffles for staff and clients. Every week, this makes reliably wonderful waffles. I have used it regularly for about six months and I have yet to be disappointed. The waffles are even a great, medium size. They can easily tear (or be cut) into small, bite-sized hearts.
My favorite aspect of this maker is, regardless of how long one leaves a waffle on the waffle maker, they will seldom burn; they just continue to get crispier, and a bit more golden-brown. I have yet to see a burned waffle on this waffle maker, even after accidently leaving one on for 10 minutes or more. Also, it heats up quickly, so it's ready to make waffles in only a couple of minutes
My only disappointment would be when I've made berry-waffles, because of the berries, the waffles can stick to the top or bottom, as opposed to coming straight out as they normally do. Also, it can leave residue behind, which makes it difficult for the non-stick to work. However, it does return to its non-stick abilities after a couple times of using regular batter. To abate the small hassle, I no longer put any berries (or the like) into the batter I use.
I would recommend, or even buy this waffle maker, for any number of friends or waffle aficionados. I have most certainly got my money's worth out of this machine so far, and anticipate many more delicious "Waffle Wednesdays".

**EDIT: My first review I gave it five stars b/c it worked great for a few weeks. I can't change the stars to one now, so I will just update my review summary. After about a month of use, we discovered the coating must not be that high of quality on the plates. I had major peeling off on the grill plates while making a panini. I contacted Koolatron and they sent replacement plates after I emailed them a copy of my receipt. However the replacement plates peeled again after a couple uses. Then the grand finale, THE MACHINE DIED ONE YEAR AFTER PURCHASE. Piece of junk.

I purchased the WafflePro 830B (Belgian Waffle version). The waffles are uniformly cooked, and nice and crisp. Love the beeper function it beeps when the waffles are done. No more guessing.
The best part - I added too much batter and of course the batter overflowed past the nicely designed drip edge. Once the iron cooled down I ran my finger around the side of the unit and all of the overflow batter came off easily by wiping my finger over it. No scrubing required. The secret is that the overflow runs on to the plastic body. No metal to burn to and adhere to. The unit cleaned up in a heart beat... Best unit I have seen yet. In the last two months I have tried and returned both the Villaware and the Krups units prior to buying this unit. I am keeping this unit as it is the best, easy to clean, and perfect waffles every time.
