Between this and the matching washing machine Maytag model MVWB850WQ0 they have made doing laundry fun again.
They replaced my my prior Whirlpool top loader washer and dryer. The extra capacity washer and dryer along with the high efficiency washer have increased my wash time from start to end. Plus increased size of wash loads with a large family of 5 that seems to be never ending. I actually feel like I'm ahead of the game instead of playing catch up.
The steam feature for refreshing a load that has been seating works. Plus is outstanding on knocking the wrinkles out of some clothing very quickly.
I had to wait 5 weeks from time of purchase to delivery. I suspect this is due to people catching on to what a good deal these machines are. Not to mention you don't have to worry about the extra expense of pedestals and on the washer the increased possible mold/smell issues. I highly recommend this machine. Worth the extra money.

Maytag Neptune Washer Boot Drain 12002533 Review

(More customer reviews)So it turns out that you really shouldn't wash your hair chair seat cover in your Maytag Neptune washer. Something about it throws off the balance of the machine, according to the service guy that came out to look at it. After charging me $70 for a service call that took all of 10 minutes, the gentleman informed me that after deducting the service call fee and adding applicable taxes, install fees, shipping fees and the rights to my first born (or so it seemed), the part would cost over $250. I smiled and immediately got on Amazon to find the part cheaper. I am married to a mechanical engineer, after all. Surely, he could swap out the bad boot for the new boot. I was pleased to find it on Amazon for under $50 including shipping, taxes and all other applicable fees. It was an easy fix for my husband and a nice savings for my pocket book.

This was the review I wrote after having this piece of crap one month:
I bought the Cabrio on 10/9/06 and by 10/23/06 it was not working properly. I contacted Whirlpool on 11/9/06 and they informed me that they needed to send a repairman out. It has several problems. The load is out of balance (UL) or I get an error "F51" every single time I try to wash a load. My husband and I are the only ones in our household so the machine is not abused (By teenagers etc). The repairman was at our house for 3 1/2 hours on 11/14/06. He ordered a wiring harness, a computer board and a censor for this 1 MONTH OLD MACHINE. I called Whirlpool in frustation simply asking them to take this LEMON back. They offered nothing and they were quite rude in the process. They said my only option was to have my machine repaired....and so the circle begins.
Our last set was a Maytag and we had the set (still are using the dryer) for over 12 years. Boy how we regret going to Whirlpool. Please take my advice and SAVE YOUR MONEY. I would hate for anyone to go through what Whirlpool has put us through.
BTW...my BRAND NEW machine is sitting idle until the repairman can come out IN A WEEK (for another 3 1/2 hours) to put in these parts that he HOPES will work.
UPDATE:
It is now exactly 4 years later and the only reason I suffer with this machine is due to the fact we PAID SOOOO MUCH MONEY FOR IT!!
The front is now rusted out!!! YES, RUSTED OUT!! And, it takes me about a day to wash ONE LOAD of Laundry...I get an "F1" (I believe it should be FU) about 4 times at the beginning of a load and then when it goes to rinse I get an F1 again approximately 3 times!! Sometimes I have to start from scratch with an entirely different setting.
The only satisfaction I've gotten over the past 4 years is writing horrible reviews on your product and making sure everyone I talk to about laundry (and it's a lot more times than any normal person should have to talk about laundry!!) how they should NEVER spend a dime on a whirlpool!
This is an absolute piece of crap and I cannot believe you have never done a thing to rectify this situation!!
So sad that you could have and should have taken care of this FOUR YEARS Ago!
When my husband calls your useless 800 number he just gets sent around in a big circle and then is told you are CLOSED.
I will never buy another Whirl pool product as long as I live!!
Please do something about this piece of crap taking up space in my laundry room and BEEPING at me ALL DAY LONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(More customer reviews)I purchased this washer 28 months ago and have had to replace the door twice since. The cheap plastic door frame is all that holds the door onto the metal hinges. We have no children in the house and there is no abuse to the door other than normal open/closing so over time the cheap plastic cracks around the top hinge (in my case) and there's nothing holding the door onto the hinge now so it hangs when you open it. Eventually the whole frame cracks and the door has to be replaced. It's costly and ridiculous that you have to throw an otherwise good door into the landfill every year. Disappointed with this product and should have done more research before buying it becasue there are many bad reviews online for this product. Do yourself a favor and look at another front load space saving washer before purchasing.

(More customer reviews)I bought this unit and it was a lemon. They had to replace it w/in 3 mos with a new one. I had the new unit for 2 yrs and 2 mos. I had a 2yr warranty on this machine. Well, after the warranty expired by l mo, the main bearing of the machine was going out. It was tearing my clothes in the machine. The machine became extremely loud on the spin cycle. It was horrible. I called the authorized repairman out to check it. He told me that it would cost me over 1100.00 to fix this unit. AT that time, I paid 1200.00 for this machine. I called Whirlpool to see what they could do. They told me that it was out of warranty (by l mo) and that it was my problem. They didn't even offer to sell me a new machine at a discount rate. So, basically in 2 yrs and 2 mos, I had 2 of these machines and they both broke. I was extremely upset with Whirlpool's response and that they didn't care about the customer. I will NEVER buy another Whirlpool prod again. If you choose to purchase this unit, make sure you get the 5 yr warranty. guarrantee, you will use it. I don't want anyone else to get scammed like I did.

These negative reviews basically report that clothes were ragged out, torn up or wrinkled beyond use with detergent remaining on the garments.
Yet, the Maytag Bravos is engineered to meet today's energy demands and environmental challanges. And, this innovative washer has quickly become the showroom standard of comparison, especially when compared with front loaders. We read the Maytag Bravos directions and followed them accurately, and wow, the clothes are now cleaner and brighter than before. Let's accept these negative complaints as actual happenings and see if there could have been unresolved operator errors that contributed to the owners' dissatisifactions and conclusions.
First, comments that clothes are ragged out and/or "it tore up my clothes" issues are easily corrected; just zip up the zippers and button the button clasps on top of zipper pants to prevent zippers from going on a Texas "chain-saw" massacre on your panties and bra. Everyone knows that these clothes groups are always at odds with one another, awaiting revenge. Don't think for a minute that in this "arena-sized" basket, an attack will not be awaiting the gentle crowd, when your zippers are free-roaming. (It's clearly written in the operations manual, too.)
Next, to get the wrinkles out that develop from the high speed water extraction, just shake the garments briefly before putting them into the tumble drier and the wrinkles will come out flat and fine.
Mostly, no ironing is needed if folded while still warm.
To avoid soap deposits, use only special HE detergents to avoid deposits on your clothes. It's all in the instructions you will need to review. Just pile the wash along the sides and let the unit do the work. It's 5 stars.

No water, and as a result, the loads dry spin, tearing them up. If you have time to sit and babysit your loads, then buy this machine. I have lost approx. $150 worth of garments due to this machine. After weeks of diligent research, I chose Maytag as the most reputable. Now I am left with a machine that will destroy loads l. $600 for nothing! I will never buy another item from Maytag!

(More customer reviews)After 5 years of 'hating' my Whirlpool Duet frontloaders, I got rid of them and after MUCH research (probably 20 hours) decided on this set. I found negative comments on every set I researched. Negative comments whether you're researching front or top loaders. My towels are RUINED from the mold smell of my frontloader. NEVER again will I own one of them. I had to go with the machines that had the least of downside. Downside of this one? It SPINS so dry it wrinkles. So.....just give a good hard shake BEFORE putting in the dryer, and the wrinkles come out. The dryer is finished drying WAY before a 'normal' load is done washing. With my 'Duets'....I had to dry for 80-90 minutes, and Whirlpool could never find a reason for the problem. This set of machines, typically dries in 30 minutes! My typical wash load is for 50min with the selection I'm using. Everyone that came to visit me (thats close enough to me to tell me the truth) HATED using my 'frontloaders'. I ALWAYS had to RE-WASH my husbands food stained shirts, second time around being sure to 'pre-soak' them. NOT with my Maytag Bravos TopLoaders! They're clean the first time around. I do have to make myself remember to 'push' the "OxiClean" button for the Borax I'm using in the separate dispenser. Otherwise its still sitting there dry and unused. I love the huge size too! I'm so happy with them I could become a professional wash-woman!! Haha....

(More customer reviews)Jan 18, 2011: This is THE BEST washer I've ever had or used! I LOVE it and can't say enough good about it. I bought it in Nov 2010 so I've had it about 2 months and I do 2 or 3 loads a day with a family of 5. I researched a lot. I subscribed to Consumer Reports to research even more. The bottom line was that the best washers according to user reviews were this Maytag MHWE450WW and the Samsung. I really wanted to support our U.S. economy and buy American...even though this washer is made in Germany. The dryer is made in Ohio. Maytag was not good several years ago but they recognized that and revamped their company and are now making commercial grade appliances built to last, like they used to be in our parents' day. This washer is built to last and truly is commercial grade. I went from a top loader to this front loader, and in my hours and hours and hours of reading reviews on every website I could find, I saw that people going from a top loader to front loader that uses less water, had a very hard time believing that the front loader could really wash their clothes clean because they saw through the window that the clothes were not swimming in water. I can tell you to not let that keep you from going front loader efficient because it gets my clothes cleaner than my old top loader. I also ready lots of people talking about how front loaders get stinky because they get moldy because the door is so airtight. Well I haven't had one bit of a problem with that because I always open the washer door and detergent door after clothes are finished washing and leave them open. Duh. How hard is that? I've left clothes in it overnight and then opened the door in the morning before dashing off to work and when I get home, the clothes are still fresh as a flower and no mold or mildew. The people who have written about that must keep the door closed so it is wet in there all the time and molds. Again, I have no problem with that whatsoever. I love the "sanitary" wash, the "power" wash, and the "whitest whites" wash. I love the way I can wash a king size blanket, king mattress cover, king sheets and pillowcases all in one load and they come out fresh and clean. I wash pillows and quilts and they come out great. I can wash 10 pair of men's jeans easily. Not having the agitator in the way makes you have so much more room for clothes. I love the way it has a heater that keeps the water hot for sanitizing and whitest whites. I love the way it spins clothes so "jet engine" fast that they are pretty much dry when the washer is done. My kids and husband and I like to watch it still because it's amazing. The dryer is great too and has a steam feature. I use way, way less detergent, which is saving money. I haven't checked my water and sewer bill but it's got to be less. And my dryer runs for a much shorter time. I have 2 teenage daughters and it has been their job to do laundry for many years, but now I find myself running in there to do laundry because it's actually fun. I know that sounds like a lie but it's not. Every time I do laundry, I come out saying, "I love my new washer and dryer". And I'm thankful to the Good Lord that I was able to buy them.

(More customer reviews)Unlike the first review of this product, I actually own it and will be rating this actual model rather than a model from years ago.
This Bravos washer does a great job of washing clothes even with a very limited amount of water. Further, since it has a huge tub, you can actually wash comforters with no problem. Our queen comforter came out as good as the laundromat that we used to have to take it to. A typical load takes about the same time as I recall for our old washer (traditional agitator Sears/Whirlpool), but the high spin rate actually makes drying times faster because so much water is removed in the spin cycle.
Using different cycles and options you can raise wash time to over an hour(!) but the typical "normal" setting is just over 30 minutes; sheets are about 40 max. And this model is so quiet even when spinning, it is almost eerie.
So far I am impressed. I'll update this if my opinion changes (I've only been using it two weeks so far as of 1/4/10)
