(More customer reviews)I just received this as a Christmas gift and it is exquisitely beautiful! The attention to detail is amazing! There is a 22k gold design around the inside top edge of the cup that cannot be seen in this photo. Another great detail is a small notch at the bottom of the handle that rests on one of your fingers to steady the cup. The color is a brilliant sapphire blue with a full range of lights, mediums and darks. It is an amazing piece and you won't be disappointed with it. The lid does have one particular way to put it on to fit properly so you need to keep turning it until it fits well.

I've used this product for a few times and I just can't say anything positive about it, except that it has a cool design...
The cappuccino has a burnt coffe taste, the foam is non-existing, it's just nasty.. and it's also very expensive.. It's been sitting in the top shelf of my kitchen for over a year now.. I have to say that I've never used it to make latte because that's just coffee with milk, I bought it because I wanted a cappuccino maker.. with a lot of foam, as the advertised..
I bought a nice traditional moka coffee maker and a cappuccino frother, and believe me, they work way better than this product..
Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.. Although I might make an exception just to get rid of it.. (sigh)

(More customer reviews)The infuser is made completely out of plastic - even the mesh! That makes this "New" Yo-Yo kit a combination of cheap coffee mug with a very cheap infuser. The highly rated old Yo-Yo had a double-walled glass and metal infuser. I'd strongly recommend sticking with that if you want a kit and double-walled glass. Otherwise you can do far better, for far less money by purchasing coffee mug (if you don't have many sitting around) and a highly rated metal-mesh infuser such as the Finum Teeli. A far superior set for less than 10 buckaroos complete.
The new Yo-Yo is a classic example of replacing a highly regarded product with something that's significantly less expensive to manufacture and inferior while maintaining the same price point.

(More customer reviews)This is the exact same model my husband and I owned in Japan (except the buttons are in English). We love it! We are big tea drinkers, and it's great to have hot water ready all the time. I like the size of the 2.3 quart model...it makes plenty of water for the 2 of us, even if we are making instant noodles, and yet it doesn't take up too much room on the counter. It takes about 15-20 minutes to heat up cold water, but with the 6 hour delay function, this is no problem. It only takes a minute or two to reheat already warm water. This water heater is extremely easy to use, and has many great and well-laid out functions. It is very comparable to the Zojirushi CD-LCC30 Micom 3.0-Liter Electric Dispensing Pot...it has similar features and reliability, but a good bit less expensive. We love this product and highly recommend it!!!

(More customer reviews)I bought one of these for work. It lives in an office breakroom and gets plenty of use. In this environment, you want the biggest one you can get, or the easiest to refill. 5L is a win. Ease of refill on this unit is so-so if your spigot or whatever can't clear its tall height. It boils, gets to temp, and maintains temp just great. The lid removes for easier fill. Easy to tell how full/empty it is. I like the magnetic power coupling a lot. Has settings for 208, 195, and 175 deg F - enough flexibility, although the 175 is a touch hot for green tea. Weakness: the "timer" has only one setting: "off now, and then turn on (to stay) 7 hours from now." This timer is essentially a not-very-funny joke. There is no real time clock, no auto-on, no auto-off. Uses about 50W to keep water hot (the 4L CV-DSC40 is better insulated but more expensive). Has a handle for carrying (even hot & full) and has a built-in turntable underneath. Unit is completely satisfactory and good enough to make me want a better. Also won't go back to traditional kettle.

Planetary Design Double Shot Travel French Press Mug Review

(More customer reviews)Like software, which I work with, product design sometimes needs more than one iteration to get things exactly right. So it was with the Double Shot mug, which I reviewed here based on the first edition, and which (while liking the concept very much) I had two basic problems with:
- The handle of the mug was held on with only a single rivet and broke off after about six months of use
- The French press lid didn't have a complete cover or closure - the filtered mouth was always open
I'm happy to report that version 2.0 of the Double Shot gets both of these things (and a few more I didn't point out) exactly right. The new handle may be riveted on behind the scenes, but is also secured with a pair of very visible and business-like screws; it's also got a closure for the French press lid just as it does for the regular coffee lid. In addition, the designers have added a couple of new helpful features:
- The "secret compartment" at the bottom and the container it conceals both have screw-on lids now instead of just popping off. This greatly reduces the incidence of coffee grounds flying everywhere (that lid is tight!)
- The handle now has a ring for a carabiner clip, allowing you to attach the mug to your backpack, bike or whatever. Hands-free coffee! (at least until you want to drink it)

In short, I'm very happy with the new version of the mug. Yes, the price point is still up there ($30), but if the current version proves to be as sturdy in other respects as its predecessor as well as having a longer-working handle, I won't be in the market for another travel mug for several years.

(More customer reviews)I've owned this mug for a couple of years and used it primarily for camping. Dan from Rochester got it right with his commentary, so I'll add just a few points.
The concept is ideal for camping and reduces the effort to make really good coffee. However, the bad points regarding the plunger not going down far enough; leaking lid; etc. are all right on. Also, the cup is double-wall plastic for insulation. The inside sleeve on mine cracked when I poured boiling hot water in it!
I would certainly purchase a similar item again, though not this one. Bodum just needs to increase the quality. I would pay twice the price for higher quality.
Overall...not recommended.

The double wall construction works fantastic and if properly preheated it will deliver a very hot cup of tea more than an hour after the first one. The handle stays cool throughout the process. Construction is first rate. You will not need a napkin anymore to catch the drips after pouring becouse there are none. The large lid, which is also double wall construction, makes access to the inside easy and a breeze to clean. Becouse it is metel there's no more worriing about breaking it. The infuser is also heavey construction and has a nice ring to remove it easily from the pot. The polished finish on the outside of it gives it a very attractive apearance as well.

Bodum Biasca 40-Ounce Glass Iced Tea Maker Review

(More customer reviews)Had previously owned the Bodum Ceylon 51oz Iced Tea Pitcher, but the "infuser" was useless from the start and the lid broke after a few uses... so I was excited to see the Biasca Ice Tea Jug as an updated ice tea solution.
First off - please note that this is a COLD BREW iced tea maker which requires 5-6 hours of cold steeping in the fridge. This also means that hot water should never be used. The idea behind a cold brew is to cut down the bitterness or astringency of regular brew iced tea, and also to enhance the more subtle flavors of whichever leaf you're using.
This process and jug produces a very soft, light and delicate iced tea. If you're looking for brisk - keep looking. Even adding heaps of extra tea does not go far in strengthening a cold brew.
Regarding the Biasca, I LOVE the design - my version had a bright green lid and looked fun and modern. The overall size of the jug is also appreciated as it has a small diameter and a comfortable, slim handle. Plus the lid is fantastic - a good rubber seal and a fine mesh that keeps all leaves in the jug and out of your mug. Wonderful!
I wish I could continue enjoying that wonderful design, however, on only my second use, I set a full jug back in the fridge and the bottom two inches of the jug broke off and sent glass and thousands of tiny tea leaves all over my fridge and kitchen floor.
Be warned - this item is extremely fragile! I did not bang or slam the jug against anything, not did I use hot water - and yet it still broke. I'm sure you'll have better luck than I if you understand this going in. Treat it with kid gloves and I'm sure it will be a great iced tea maker for you!
But for me, being that this is the second Bodum tea product that has broken within a few uses, I think I'm calling it a day with their iced tea goods.
As a side note - I'm still a fan of Bodum products. I own many Bodum glasses and a glass teapot and have not had any issues with those even after a few years of use. Just something about their iced tea items....

(More customer reviews)Purchased 16oz teamaker less than a year ago from the Teavana store, at a local mall, for [...]. Used it two to three times per week. And the stainless steel ?? mesh filter began rusting/corroding, not tea stained. There is no way to remove the corrowsion, or the screen for replacement. Brought it to the Teavana store, showed them the corrosion; and was told I had to call customer suppport, since it was over thirty days old. While at the Teavana store I called Customer support, which wasn't helpful at all. Was told they wouldn't replace it. However, if I shipped it to them at my expense, they would look at it; but they don't warrant the product beyond thirty days.
Subsequently, I purchased another unit by Adagio, from Amazon, and it has been superior to the Teavana unit. Nylon mesh screen doesn't corrode, and can be removed for cleaning or replacement if necessary. Very disappointed with Teavana product design, quality, and customer support.

(More customer reviews)I do not understand what has happened in the coffee maker industry. It seems as if every coffee appliance I buy fails. This one is no exception. I bought this one only because most of the reviews praised it. Now I am sure that the reviews are phony and must be posted by the manufacturer. There is no control over the time of percolation which for whatever reason has been designed to be too short. The coffee comes out weak especially if you try to make less than 12 cups, the water just doesn't make it through the strainer for less cups??? The manual suggests using 20 spoons for 12 cups of strong coffee. At this rate I will essentially be using double the coffee grinds to make the same amount of coffee as I did with a much older Faberware I had and the coffee is still weak. The new faberwares are just as bad as everything else manufactured these days. The reviews and the item description also touts that this coffee percolator has a glass knob. This is an outright lie, it is plastic!!!! I was initially pleased with the design although I feel it is made with a lighter guage metal than it should be. I would gladly pay double for this product if it worked. Don't buy it, it is another coffee maker dud!!!!!

(More customer reviews)It's just what we needed. After a major bill to a plumber who told us that coffee grounds collect like sand and clog pipes, we decided that $30 for a knock box was money well invested.
As many have said, the box is too small for commercial use but it's perfect for home and it even fits under the pour spout on the espresso machine for storage. The rubber feet and squat design hold it steady on the counter. The bar is wide, sturdy and rubber coated so it's not likely to dent your filter unit. And the low cut front edge insures that you don't accidentally hit the handle or your finger on the edge.
I think $30 is too high of a mark-up, but nothing cheaper looked nearly as functional. If ours was stolen by a coffe loving burglar (I don't expect it will break) I would buy another immediately.

Mr. Coffee TM75 3 Quart Iced Tea Maker Review

(More customer reviews)I had the old one with the orange top. That one has a top basket to hold the tea bags which incorporates a side lever to plug the bottom drain hole, and an overflow channel so just the last couple of cups steep the tea until you pull the lever to release them. The new one with the blue basket has done away with that lever (I'm guessing to cut costs) and just put a little bit smaller hole at the bottom. They also tell you to use a coffee filter in the basket in addition to the teabags themselves, which after all are little paper filters. This is probably to slow down the run-out of the tea to help it steep it a little bit longer. My favorite combination of bags is one bag or Celestial Seasons Red Zinger, one Lipton Mango, and two Red Rose decaf's. In the old one I would let this combination of tea steep for maybe 10 minutes, and it came out perfectly. Using the same bags with the new one makes *really* tasteless, watery tea.
I just found a new model that makes 3 quarts and has a dial on the front for what they call "brew strength". This is a decided advantage over the other revised model. Also, you get a quart more of tea per cycle. You pour the water directly into the unit, where there is a window on the front with markings for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. The container has markings for how much ice to use for 1, 2 and 3 quarts. This is a better design, IMHO. Also, the pitchers are shorter, so fit in more places in your fridge, and the handles don't attach at the pitcher bottom, so you can nest them for storage. This is a big advantage over the old style. The new one comes with 2 pitchers. You can turn them both upside-down over the base unit to save even more storage space.
My recomendation: don't buy the newer 2 quart blue basket model. Hold out for the 3 quart model. And here's the kicker- I found mine at Wal-Mart for $2.00 less than Target was selling the 2 quart model!
Once you get into the habit of drinking iced tea instead of soda, you'll never go back. The savings in calories, money and hassle of returnable bottles and cans will have you hooked.
